  1. If you loved the movies, you'll enjoy the game. The game itself won't do much to endear itself to people looking for solid gameplay.
  2. Unfortunately, while the movie's version of piracy is a picturesque mixture of high-adventuring, quick-witted, swashbuckling derring-do, The Legend of Jack Sparrow is a weak mixture of low-brow, quick cash-in, button-bashing doggy-do.

More open-ended environments, greater character customization, trickier puzzles, and smarter enemies would have all made for a memorable trip.
  4. At least you won’t have to play this weak game for very long because it’s short, linear, and has no multiplayer. Even a drunken sailor knows what to do when faced with this kind of fool’s gold. Anybody got a plank?
  5. The game has most of the necessary ingredients for success, but Bethesda and 7 Studios managed to produce a lackluster hack-and-slash adventure title that features woefully linear level design, mediocre voice acting, and tired swashbuckling.
  6. If you strip away the license and the voice acting what's left is a short, uninspired, linear action adventure game that has awkward execution.

Pirates was a children's movie that appealed to adults, whereas this will appeal to no-one. [Issue 143, p.93]

It's just relentless button mashing with no variation. [Oct 2006, p.86]
  10. The backdrops match the film's hazy, eerie tone, and the story—a "tall tale" retelling of the events of the first film—is clever, although Johnny Depp never sounds that excited about telling it.
  11. The exact opposite of the film series. While the movies feature lavish visual effects, the game does not thanks to a poor frame rate and second-rate animations. Although the movies have impressive action and swashbuckling swordplay, the game is burdened with a clunky fighting system that rarely delivers thrills.
