This feels way more like real hockey than the arcadey, gimmicky junk we've had to swallow in the past. Just a few more tweaks here and there, and EA's NHL will be the coolest game on ice once again. [Oct. 2006, p.87]

The controls are tight, especially shooting. We would like to see the checking system tweaked a bit so players aren't so magnetic. Great puck physics make for exciting, organic goal scoring.
  3. The Dynasty mode is still a blast, even though it isn’t entirely new. And the core gameplay mechanics cannot be beat. The new stick passing gives players so much more control over the puck.

The best hockey game on PS2. [Dec 2006, p.95]

Regardless of the fact that you can pass now with the right analog, this game is for anyone who yearns for a simpler time when hockey was arcade-like and EA wasn't afraid to hit it on the ice--unlike the next-gen version. [Oct. 2006, p.94]

The bad news--if you're jonesing to light the lamp with the new Skill Stick, well, you can't--only passing is allowed in the PS2 version, which leaves us feeling like we got the shaft. [Holiday 2006, p.86]

    A hugely enjoyable sim. [Oct 2006, p.87]
  8. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the versions of NHL 07 not made for the next generation of consoles offer little in the way of new content.
  9. The graphics might be a little dated, but they still look good. The manual shot aiming works like a dream – the puck always goes where you want, and the targets that appear in the net make it especially intuitive for newcomers.
  10. The action can be hard to follow, but fans will appreciate the realism.
  11. Those who have never laced up and assisted on a one-timer in real life might be able to look past all the faults of NHL 07, but you'd have to be blind to ignore them all. With any luck, this franchise will move on to the PS3 and improve, and never look back.

Pretty much your standard NHL game from this time, nothing more and nothing less.

Good graphics and simulation for a PS2 game, decent amount of leagues and teams, tho i found my national team's roster to be mostly incorrect for that season. Full Review »

I like the fact that this game is available for Windows XP: I like the dynasty mode feature. Goal tending is a little weak on medium. GoaliesI like the fact that this game is available for Windows XP: I like the dynasty mode feature. Goal tending is a little weak on medium. Goalies endurance levels drop severely after you find their weak points (easy goals). I do like the feature that describes the goalies goal tending style. I like the analog stick control, makes it fun to deke on when coming in front of the net. Some of the commentary is the same, depending on how the game play goes. I like the team upgrades in dynasty mode. This makes it more fun for the user to improve their team.
The soundtrack gets old fast: could have had a better soundtrack, but you are able to turn off the songs in the menu which is a pro (I have it off during game play).
