PSM MagazineOld school fans, however, will probably feel that MvC2 is a bit too hectic and find themselves hoping for an online PS2 version of "Street Fighter III" instead. [Holiday 2002, p.50]
-
It represents the first major set of changes the series had ever seen. That said, this game has been surpassed on nearly every front since its original release.
-
There are easily better fighters on the PS2 though, and so this feels more like an exercise in retro gaming than an essential and accessible purchase.
-
Games such as "Guilty Gear X" have shown what true next-gen 2D titles can look like, whilst other titles have more depth and a sufficiently more detailed fighting system for fighting fanatics.
-

-
Play MagazineThe only big downside to all this is a dated engine that shows wear in the animation, which may have passed the test on Dreamcast but loses appeal in today's arena. [Dec 2002, p.88]
