Lowrider is sure to hook fans of such games as "PaRappa the Rapper" and k"Um Jammer Lammy" (or anyone with a cursory interest in lowriding for that matter) butagainthis is not a racing game.
-
Despite its lack of polish or depth in just about every facet of its execution, Lowrider has a lot of heart and is notable for at least trying something new.
-
PSM MagazineThe tweaking is fun, and fans of the Lowrider culture and magazine should absolutely love it. But serious players will tire of the game after the novelty of hopping cars wears off. [Feb 2004, p.32]
-
Despite the mind-numbing repetition, I was compelled to continue, if only because I became quite obsessed with buying new decals and accessories for my lowrider. [Feb 2004, p.102]
-
Once you've customized your car to the max, there's nothing else to do except change its color; you can't even earn new cars to customize or anything, as you're stuck with only the one car.
-
This game is awful. And also totally hilarious. [Feb 2004, p.120]
-
Edge MagazineThere's no style in LowRider's low-riding - it's all about robotic timing, brute force and repetition over elegance. [March 2003, p.99]

Cheat Code CentralBest played at an arcade where you probably wouldn't spend more than a dollar on it. I can't recommend this title even at the bargain-bin price you're bound to find it.
-
Tacked onto another racing title, it would've made sense, but this is one of the weakest excuses for a game ever. If you can find it for $10 or less, I'd recommend picking it up for a good laugh, but beyond that it's better left forgotten.
-
As the subject of this review so deftly proves, a whipped-together concept by itself is not enough. I may spend a few minutes flipping through Lowrider magazine the next time I'm at the newsstand, but I'm not going to be spending any more time on the game.
-
I've played my share of games, and none have made my fingers ache like Lowrider. I like games of timed button-presses, but this feels too imprecise and button-mashy.
-
Official U.S. Playstation MagazineI know this all sounds ridiculous, and it is. And yet, there's a certain goofy, tacky charm to the game that's oddly appealing. [Feb 2004, p.103]
-
All would be forgivable if the core gameplay were decent, but it sadly consists of pressing one button over and over again. There's absolutely no sense of rhythm, and results seem arbitrary at best.
-
If "Need for Speed Underground" had an inbred cousin (possibly by "Bust-a-Groove"), and that cousin was mutated by exposure to radiation, I'm forced to conclude that Lowrider would be the result.
