  1. Fantastic. They do a great job of including the main parts of the legends of King Arthur and his Knights, but they deviate from it enough to improve on things. The best part is the little nods to The Holy Grail.

It's not the perfect game, but it's got the almighty "fun" factor, and that's what matters.
  3. Tries hard to be successful, but technical faults and the one major gameplay problem may dampen the experience for some. On the other hand, the game features some nice hack-n-slash action.
  4. A game I expected to match or exceed "Baldur's Gate" doesn't even come close.
  5. Too often I found myself cursing at the unusually hard to manage team attacks and screaming as I started the whole field over for the 100th time.
  6. The action is solid, the presentation is average with flashes of brilliance, and the story surrounding it is alternately fascinating and flat.

And as all this PS2 majesty seeps in through your senses you’ll find your hand reaching to the back of the PS2 as your body makes an involuntary movement toward self-preservation. Click!
  8. Perhaps appropriately, the ending was neither flashy nor particularly rewarding, but the sense of accomplishment I got once I’d trudged through a good 15-20 or so hours of tiresome combat, eye-wateringly low framerates, and a nonexistent storyline was enough.

Missions bounce from being overly long and difficult to short and simple with no apparent logic. [August 2002, p.109]

To put it bluntly, the storytelling is a laughable farce. [July 2002, p.83]
  11. Electronic Gaming Monthly

Without the strategy element to back it up, combat (by which I mean tapping the same button over and over) gets repetitive quickly. [August 2002, p.124]
  12. 45
Although it had some great ideas (the RTS elements) and a cool storyline, the actual execution of the gameplay is mediocre.
  13. With poor design, few "levels" and frustrating gameplay, there’s not a lot here to praise.
  14. If you're looking for an easy hack-n-slash to play in between servings of some better, more robust game, then Legion: The Legend of Excalibur might not be a bad rental.
  15. Control issues and poor voice acting mar what could have been a superlative title.
  16. 40
Looks aren't everything, and the game falls directly on its noble ass. [August 2002, p.78]
  17. Nothing short of an utter failure. Though Seven Studios did many things right, the horrible gameplay drags the rest of the game down.
  18. Play Magazine

Not a whole lot went right here, other than the cinemas, which are gorgeous. [July 2002, p.82]
  19. Legion has many sound concepts, but just about everything falls apart in the execution, resulting in a game that runs the gamut from frustrating to just plain terrible.
  20. 30
So, we have annoying sound, minimalist save features, poor dialogue and voice acting, clumsy controls, and frustrating gameplay. Not exactly a recipe for success.

Actually really enjoyed this game. Had an Age Of Empires vibe about it and with pretty decent graphics.
