KILLZONE is probably the best FPS on PS2 and it pushed the PS2 to it’s graphical limits.

I'm gonna be honest, there's only three things I will remember out of this game: Some of the soundtracks (Joris de Man can make a generic soundtrack one second and an eargasm the next), the Helghast's fantastic, intimidating look (I swear what is it with PS-exclusive shooters and cool looking villains?) and how BAD the rest is: Tasteless graphics and repetitive levels, souless charactersI'm gonna be honest, there's only three things I will remember out of this game: Some of the soundtracks (Joris de Man can make a generic soundtrack one second and an eargasm the next), the Helghast's fantastic, intimidating look (I swear what is it with PS-exclusive shooters and cool looking villains?) and how BAD the rest is: Tasteless graphics and repetitive levels, souless characters (except Hakha)

Same as Resistance: Fall of Man, I'd suggest a remake treatment.

It's just a really generic sci-fi war shooter. And a very average one too. Everything about it is generic and average. The shooting, the environments, the enemies, the story, the characters. Would still rather play this than Halo, though. This "Halo killer" didn't kill Halo for me, because it was already dead to me.

This game is too immature to be the expected HALO KILLER. Both of the story and the shooting are not satisfactory.

I remember getting atracted to the aesthetics of this game when i was a kid but my parents didn't let me play, so i had to wait to grow up and i remember being very excited about it.

It was the dirtiest first-person shooter I have ever played. Net copy of halo game. I'm really sorry that Sony can't make a proper first person shooter after all these years.I just wasted my time playing this game.

Hailed as the "Halo killer" of its time, it never lived up to that premise. Overall though it is a very good and highly underrated game.

Игра для своего времени была весьма неплохая, но сейчас уже играется с трудом, уж больно графон режет глаза, ну и сюжет простенький

what a horrible game, its gameplay is horrible, high difficulty, locked commands, 15 FPS in multiplayer, weapon accuracy is rubbish, to kill an enemy you need to unload a whole magazine because they are resistant.
Only good thing about this plague is the graphics

The first game is about as average as it gets. It's weird that they actually thought this was going to compete against Halo.

Killzone on PS2 is very Rough.
The Graphics are okay for the time but nothing more, most of the levels feel very repetitive and uninspired, also you can easy get stuck on things in the environment, some objects in the environment don't have any collision detection so you can walk right through them, more then often you have to walk in a dark void to finish the level.

The Hellgast your main enemy has black armor, a lot of backgrounds in the levels are black, you can't see them all the time.
For some reason you can't zoom in with lmgs or other heavy weapons.
For the characters, they are diverse but once you unlock rico, there is no other reason to play the 3 remaining characters.
Also your Teammates Ai is frustrating, they often do nothing.
The story is just straight up boring.

    Wouldn't recommend.

First person shooter with very linear levels and the strategy is basically "pick the guy with the biggest gun", but its presentation is top notch and the graphics are streets ahead of most of its competition. A quality shooter that's one of the best of its type on the platform.

One of the games that made me love on-line gaming. I also played it for hundreds of hours with my friends (and bots). So much fun, Good old days, man.

  1. The innovative controls for the sniper rifle don't allow the player to pull off precise headshots when they're needed most, which leads to rising frustration.
  2. If the gameplay matched the atmosphere, Killzone would be a real winner.

Killzone was worth the wait, and matches the hype. It hits the mark in so many ways, it's baffling; they promised us we'd experience fugture war, and we have...and come away shaking. [Holiday 2004, p.70]
