It's mechanics and gameplay may annoy you, but if you liked John Carpenter's version of "The Thing," you should be able to buy into (and enjoy) the storyline.
-
It never quite comes together in as compelling a fashion as others of its class. It's far from being poor and is certainly entertaining at times--it just lacks the originality and extra level of polish needed to provide a truly memorable gaming experience.
-
One of the best new PS2 titles out there, and despite some creative drawbacks, the sound effects and graphics are nicely done and draws you in to the experience.
-
Theres no compelling reason to pull you though the game, like Max Paynes revenge theme or Solid Snakes score to settle with his ex-teammates.
-
This one gets messy, real messy.
-
Unless you have a lot of extra fifties lying around, spend your money elsewhere.
-
An above average game and nothing more...It's not that bad, though. Not bad at all.
-
It's unoriginal and very short (I was able to complete it in a couple of days without really trying to beat it), but a gas while it lasts and home to some of the nicest-looking and best-renderd FMV cinemas your puny little eyes have ever seen.
-
A solid entry in the genre, but it doesn't do much that hasnt been done before in games from Konami or Capcom.
-
Next Generation MagazineDifferentiates itself as a faster-paced action title, and holds its own with a few minor problems. [Nov 2001, p.100]
-
Electronic Gaming MonthlyWhile the game wont win any awards for originality, it is well-paced and does a good job of keeping the player glued to the tube. [Oct 2001, p.145]
-
A game that initially turned me off completely, but somehow managed to keep me playing 'til the end.
-
The multitude of enemies, unique implementation of the SPR4 and a few nicely done weather effects make for a solid experience, though this is ultimately undermined by the twitchy control, awful camera and lack of free movement.
-
The total lack of a cluttered HUD, the animation, and the graphic detail are all good points, but lazy mistakes and no palpable sense of fear make Extermination more annoying than alarming.
