I actually dig this game. It's so good, I can even deal with the cutesy characters. [Oct 2003, p.60]

Hands down this is the best child-oriented game I've ever had the pleasure of playing and that's because Disney Extreme Skate Adventure goes to great lengths NOT to insult the gamers intelligence and skills.
  3. Much like the wholesome Kix breakfast cereal, Disney’s Extreme Skate Adventure has seemingly been "kid-tested, mother-approved" for quality. It’s not just kid stuff, mind you.

The only knock on the game might be its difficulty. It's a hard world, after all, but the game's target audience (children) might find DESA too tough to master. [Oct 2003, p.70]

It's corny, but the solid "Hawk"-inspired gameplay cannot be denied. [Nov 2003, p.48]

An excellent merging of two popular properties, this is one "kiddie" game that you shouldn't overlook just because it has the Disney name stamped on the side.

The visuals, gameplay, and essentially everything else that makes the "THPS" series so great is evident here. [Oct 2003, p.116]
  8. Disney's Extreme Skate Adventure's ingredients are like those of a delicious cake. You've got high-quality eggs, flour and milk (the Tony Hawk engine); rich, irresistible chocolate (Tony Hawk-style gameplay); and a sugary-sweet frosting that's too good to miss (Disney characters).

Not only is it fun for Disney lovers, it's a good time for skateboarding fans looking for creative environments or a more forgiving learning curve. [Oct 2003, p.123]

One of the best examples of a game that appeals and caters to a younger age bracket while still maintaining a level of gameplay quality and intellectual decency lacking in so many other "kids games."
  11. What this all boils down to is a solid and intuitively controlled skating game that is optimized for younger players but also quite fun for fans of the Tony Hawk series.
  12. Personally, I don't have any place for a game like this on my shelf when I already have the whole Tony Hawk dynasty. Would I recommend it to my friends that have kids? Surely.
  13. Won't hold the Tony Hawk pro's attention for long, but it's still a fun, well-designed skating game.
  14. There’s just something weird about playing a Disney-sanctioned, watered-down version of "Tony Hawk 4" that will put-off as many grown-up players as it will enchant.

To say that Disney's Extreme Skate Adventure has the worst soundtrack of any game EVER, is an understatement.

Played the hell out of this game as a kid. The levels are great, the characters are great (of course), the gameplay is great (should be, being made with the Tony Hawk engine) and the soundtrack, BRO. That music was amazing as a kid and is still amazing to this day. I replayed this game not too long ago, it's still great to me and still a fun time. Full Review »

However, it did cause me to enjoy Ska music, so if you're the sort of person who wants to tightly control the musical tastes of your kids, you may want to avoid getting them this one. Full Review »
