Better than DMC2, DMC4 and of course DmC, but still only decent compared to DMC1. It can get pretty fun at times if you don't stick to one style or move to play the game but instead find different ways to beat it.

Devil May Cry at its peak... for many people, but not for me.
This game is honestly pretty enjoyable but there are several things holding it back.
First let's get the story out of the way, well it's very straightforward and generic, it doesn't have many highlights nor interesting plot twists, but it's not a very important part of the game. The gameplay is nice and aged well, the

The gameplay is nice and aged well, the different combos, variety of weapons, special techniques and guns all feel satisfying.

There's also a decent amount of exploration, the levels are open and there's a lot of back-tracking... I mean, A LOT of back-tracking, to the point where it gets exhausting, and the puzzles are not good unfortunately.

Also there are many annoying boss fights, the infuriating gimmicks and the terrible camera are mostly to blame.

It still is a good game though, and genuinely fun to play, despite the fact that it's outdated in some aspects, this is definitely one of the best games in the series and worth checking out.

    Final Rating: "Good" ~ 7/10.

A great, fun game that feels like an advancement of the first game rather than the second. It features the same witty Dante again, whilst increasing range of combat abilities. The atmosphere is good, but not quite as impressive as the first, and the enemy designs also fall short of the impact first game, like the Marionettes. The camera is still frustrating at times, especially in the God-cube chamber. The story is good, and ties in well to the first game, whilst keeping the characters interesting. Levels are wider than the first game, with more unique bosses, which allows the game to feel more enjoyable, with more ways to doge enemies as well. Overall a great game. Expand

Me aburrió...dificulta elevada al principio y cuesta que te enganche lo que hace que cueste un poco seguir jugando para agarrarle el gusto.

The extras are nice, but the most important feature is the tweaked difficulty level. No more tears while playing! [Oct 2006]

The game's a little easier this time, but playing through with Vergil is a completely different experience.

Far more than a new skin for the same action, playing as Vergil drastically alters the way you approach Devil May Cry. [Feb 2006, p.106]
