To be honest, as a newbie to the series I didn’t expect the level of depth that Big Mutha Truckers 2: Truck Me Harder had to offer.
-
Don't expect much more than a cheesy hillbilly romp through the rural roads of America. But then again, what more could one want?
-
It just seemed that the game conspired to suck all the fun out of it.
-
Game InformerAfter the novelty fades, Truckers 2 starts to feel more like a job than a game, as you realize life on the road is just one repetitive haul after another. [Oct 2005, p.128]
-
Let’s hope that if there’s a "Big Mutha Truckers 3" coming in the future, Eutechnyx dumbs down the writing and pumps up the gameplay options.
-
If you like driving recklessly and crashing into things, you won't be disappointed. If you're just looking for a chance to actually drive a big rig truck, look towards Sega's Eighteen Wheeler game.
-
Much like the unsubtleties of its title, Big Mutha Truckers 2 shows far too much too soon, and prematurely shoots its load before reaching the much pursued destination of Real Satisfaction. Sigh. A truckin' shame? Truck yeah.
-
Pelaaja (Finland)It feels a bit blasphemous to compare this game to C64 classic "Elite," but there are so many similarities, that it feels justified. And, despite its repetitive nature, BMT 2 is quite fun to play. [August 2005, p.66]
-
While it could have been interesting with proper development, it is instead a forgettable title that is probably not even worth the cost of a Blockbuster rental.
-
Big Mutha Truckers 2 isn't horrible, but the game-play is merely average compared to other mission-based arcade racers. And while it tries to be funny with its racy dialogue and stereotypical characters, it fails more often than it succeeds.

Official U.S. Playstation MagazineA nice break from a day spent watching wood-chopping sports on ESPN 2. [Nov 2005, p.118]
-
PSM MagazineUnderneath the goofy, low-brow humor is a wide load of too-sedatedly paced driving and surprisingly thin gameplay. [Oct 2005, p.55]
-
THQ's low-budget truck driving game mixes tried-and-true arcade truck driving with a colorful cast of characters, country-flavored humor, and a whole lot of gigantic boobery. It's very light-hearted fun for a very short period of time.
-
With very little to laugh at in terms of good jokes and repetitive missions, gamers might want to skip this one altogether.
-
AceGamezIt's cheap. Not as cheap as chips - and not nearly as tasty either. No. But it might appeal to a few people, those people that enjoyed the first Mutha Trucker title for example.
-
Causing havoc behind the wheel of a big rig is fun but the novelty quickly wanes and the unsubtle gags often fail to amuse, especially when they are endlessly repeated.
-
Like "Burnout" on horse tranquillizers. Only marginally less interesting.
-
If the game wasn’t so blatantly repetitive and restrictive, the humor so blandly childish and the control so poor, this could’ve had the potential to be a somewhat creative game.
-
So what did the developer do? It dumbed down the simulation aspects, made the driving portions even less fun and more repetitive, and threw in a gaggle of even stupider ethnic and sexual gags.
-
The actual gameplay follows a predictable pattern as you drive your big rig from point A to B while meeting specific requirements. There is very little if any originality or complexity present, so don’t expect anything revolutionary.
-
The fact that the graphics are so impressive, and the road maps so brilliantly extensive, only adds to the disappointment of the overall experience.
-
Edge MagazineFor all its wit and swagger, Truckers is inescapably safety-conscious, rewarding the maintenance of a planned route and steady trajectory while more arresting notions - spontaneous risk, for example - fall from the back like poorly fastened cases of moonshine. [Sept 2005, p.99]
-
Joining the list of sequels that should not be, this racer prooves to be too simplistic and shallow to be any fun to anyone.
-
Problem is, it ain't nuthin' we ain't seen before. When not running from the cops a la "Driver," you're making deliveries like in "Crazy Taxi"—both of which would be a lot more fun if your rig wasn't slow and sluggish like Eminem with his medicine.

Play MagazineFoist this game on a hated enemy; it's surprising a bomb this big doesn't come ticking. [Oct 2005, p.70]

No bells, no whistles, just boring repetitive driving. So boring in fact that I actually nodded off twice while playing it one Sunday afternoon.
