netjakWith a ton of great games that still hold up to todays standards, as well as all the extras and the little touches that show that Anthology was lovingly crafted as opposed to hastily slapped together, as many similar collections tend to be, its hard to find any reason not to recommend it.
-
A ridiculous variety of games coupled with hundreds of Easter eggs and other bells and whistles. It is easily the best such collection to come along yet.
-
This, folks, is a classic compilation done right. The emulation is damn near spot-on.
-
Highly recommended IF youre old-enough to afford waxing nostalgically about the good old Atari VCS days.

Official U.S. Playstation MagazineThere's a whole other world of unlockables for anyone who digs '80s nostalgia: commercials. Oh yeah, we're talking pure '80s here. [Jan 2003, p.120]
-
It's far from perfection, but if classic gaming is in your blood or piquing your curiosity, this Anthology is for you.
-
It's amazing how well some of these games stand up. Yes, they're absolutely nothing to look at, but the gameplay in a lot of the cases is just as addictive and compelling today as it was 20 years ago.
-
Entertainment WeeklyDavid Crane, the creator of "Pitfall," even invites players to drop him a line. Part of me is afraid of what I'll find. [24 Jan 2003, p.107]
-
The sheer number of playable games and unlockable items and the slick production values make it a great value for any gamer with an interest in the roots of console gaming as we know it.
-
One of the best things about this compilation is that by scoring certain amounts of points in various games, players can unlock original Activision television commercials.
-
PSM MagazineI absolutely loved it, but I'm old enough to remember when the moon walk was the strangest thing Michael Jackson had done lately. [Feb 2003, p.35]
-
Anthology has a mesmerizing quality about it. Once I started playing and listening to some of the old '80s tunes, it just became real comfortable to keep going.
-
Cheat Code CentralSure they are the forefathers of today's Grand Theft Autos and MechAssaults, but I don't crap in an outhouse like my great grandpappy did more than 100 years ago.

KyleP.Dec 19, 2002It's good for the nostalgia, but that wears away quickly and then you are stuck with a bunch of ancient Atari games.
