There are some issues within WRC 8, and they're not small, but the game is otherwise so good that it's easy to overlook them. For all the times your engine switches to stealth mode or a fence post sends you into low Earth orbit, there are hundreds of times when you are blissfully guiding your car into a drift around a dusty apex in Argentina, or masterfully twisting through a series of highly technical corners during heavy rain. The vehicle handling is so good — and that is so important for a rally game — that even with its flaws, WRC 8 is likely the high bar that other rally games should aspire to.

The graphics, sound, presentation, and force feedback all blend together to create a wonderful sense of speed and the sense of ever present danger that immerses you in the world of rally racing. Rally racing is tough. One misjudgment and your hopes of a podium finish are dashed.

WRC 8 is the most in-depth rally sim to ever wear the official license.

By far the best outing every by KT Racing/Kylotonn and in the WRC franchise as a whole. With a well-defined career mode, backed up by a wealth of stages, set across a variety of places within the world, all of which are well designed, WRC 8 offers a lot for fans who want yet another strong rally game to jump into. While not quite alongside DiRT Rally 2.0, it's certainly coming close.

The year that Kylotonn took to get WRC 8 back into the top contenders of rally games was worth it. Its Career mode alone is enough to make you sit down for hours and plan out how to manage your team, drive your car, and meet the conditions of your contract. With the car’s level of detail being extremely high, decent driving mechanics, and the bevvy of game modes being at an all-time high, this is a racing game that any fan of racing should absolutely try.

The series’ unrelenting, doubling-down on the simulation approach — and barely giving its players room for error — is still as prominent and bound to put off those looking for an easy ride. If you’re the kind of person who appreciates the finer detail and are looking for a racing experience that rewards smart, split-second decision-making, however, this is the kind of package that can offer so many great and engaging moments. Even if the road there may be paved with a few harsh lessons. In the end, with an expanded and much-improved career mode, some thoughtful, small-and-subtle tweaks and even more unpredictable elements to keep wary of — on top of all the care put into the physics, feedback and very sound — Kylotonn’s latest in WRC 8 stands as the studio’s best interpretation yet.

WRC 8 is an amazing racing sim, but don't expect it to hold your hand.

Kylotonn tooks its time to cook its WRC 8, and it’s all for the best. Deeper and prettier than any of its predecessors, WRC 8 as a great career mode and looks good. It also plays better, with sharper driving.

Kylotonn takes a big step. The driving physics are decent and the stages are not only splendidly designed but also challenging.

The WRC series is getting better step by tiny step. Career mode, dynamic weather and a good overall feeling behind the wheel will make every racer happy - but next time, we expect more content and better polish.

WRC 8 presents a complete rallying experience with its team management and career components. But while the driving does deliver a fun time, it's frustrating on a technical level and there are the visuals won't distract you from that fact.

The WRC game series slowly improves. Career, dynamic weather and generally better driving experience will make you happy in this new instalment. However, they have to work on a better atmosphere and presentation, and most importantly the creators must deliver much more content. [Issue#298]

DR2.0 is the king, WRC 8 is for the noob drivers who drive on a rail to feel good, Dirt rally 2.0 is for the high skilled drivers, 900° H shifter, clutch, and let's master the Group B cars :)

Fine! This is how Dirt Rally 2.0 should have looked and worked.

Simplified physics for the sake of casuals, but quite realistic car behavior on different surfaces. I really liked the feedback on the T300, but I would have increased it by 20%. Career mode looks promising. The game is solid 8 points, but I will put it in advance 9. The only problem is the sound of small objects being broken - a bush, a snowdrift, the sound is almost the same and looks like a big bursting ball. It should not be.

    My verdict:
Definitely better than WRC 7 and Dirt Rally 2.0 (as I recall the physics of the car like soap fell into the sink, blood flows from the eyes), but not better than Dirt Rally 1.0

Congratulations to the developers, they made a really worthy product. Perhaps the best there is now in the rally!

p.s. Do not look at the ratings of degradants who rate the game at 0. It's just pulling Dirt 2.0 to a higher level. There can be no 0 rating for rally fans and such an assessment cannot be objective.

If this game had the graphics & car list of Dirt Rally 2.0, this (WRC 8) would probably be the best rally game ever made.

I love the real world courses & amount of content, love the deep campaign mode, the handling & physics, UI, dynamic weather etc. But having put many hours into both games & no matter how much i enjoy this game (it's still a very good game & worth getting), i miss the beautiful graphics & wide range of cars that you get to experience in Dirt Rally 2.0.

(Edited this review after going back to Dirt Rally 2.0 & better comparing the two games)
