Re-touched 2D graphics, new exciting and hilarious weapons, buildings, crafting and vehicles. Worms W.M.D. is the Worms we've always wished for ever since we played the games of old. This time, Team17 nailed it and we hope they won't settle on the success and continue to deliver exciting new content to enrich the Worm-pocalypse.

The variety of weapons and weapon variations automatically make this a worms to add to your collection, especially if you haven’t visited the Annelid’s for some time, this is a great game to get back into their world… it is both familiar and new all in the one lovely funny and destructive package.

Worms W.M.D is, well, Worms at it's best: a fun, turn-based tactical combat game for up to six players. The new additions, like vehicles and building interiors, work. Crafting is meaningless, though. [Oct 2016]

Worms returns with its load of humor and strategy, in a chapter that will please both the traditionalists and the newcomers. The classic 2D formula is still fun, but we have the introduction of new features (crafting , vehicles and buildings) that renew the original gameplay of the series.

W.M.D. is easily the best game in the Worms series in several years. It stays true to the 2D, animated roots of the ’90s games while adding enough new features to keep it feeling fresh and relevant. The relatively simple gameplay is overflowing with finesse and strategy, the presentation is fantastic, and offline or on, Worms is just incredibly fun.

Worm massacre is back in all its glory and bringing with them not only tanks and tons of fun, but also hours of entertainment, which is accomplished primarily by the multiplayer part. Worms W.M.D. don't offer revolutionary gameplay mechanics and breathtaking graphics. None of this, however, is needed for the royal entertainment.

Worms W.M.D. is a triumph. Sure, we could tie ourselves in knots asking why they didn’t come out with something like this sooner, but what would be the point? For now, let’s just bask in its wormly glory.

Worms W.M.D. is a return to the classic recipe and it never tasted so sweet, but you can’t help but feel as though it wouldn’t be as effective had the series not been messed around with as much as it has.

While it does feel like the series hit its plateau a while back, Worms W.M.D is a welcome addition to the series, being beautifully crafted and as fun as ever.

Gone are half-baked water physics and worm classes, replaced by more creative and complimentary features like vehicles, crafting, and building interiors.

Team 17’s famous worms are back again with one of their best action and strategy installments. This 2D game features many improvements and a nostalgic touch that will be liked by most players.

Featuring enough new stuff to bring back longtime fans, Worms W.M.D is another great entry in the 20 year old franchise. The game doesn't reinvent the formula that has worked so well, but it does refine it in a number of important ways. With new weapons, vehicles, and visuals, Worms W.M.D should please anyone looking for an old school turn-based strategy game.

Worms W.M.D as a whole is a lot of fun, it’s the best 2D Worms title we’ve had in a long time and it reminds me why these games are so enjoyable to play. If you are looking for a multiplayer game to play with family and friends on the couch or for a game night over the internet you could do a lot worse than get a bout of Worms!

Although you’ll find just a few fresh touches within the proven formula, they lead to a few interesting new tactics to take your opponents’ worms down. You want Worms? You’ll get Worms!

Faithful to the Worms tradition, the new Team 17 title, with its bizarre new weapons and vehicles, manages to be a fun experience even if the crafting mechanics aren't the most user friendly out there.

The most obvious and most visible addition is that of fixed stationary guns, sentry guns, tanks, helicopters, mechs and rocket league race cars on the map.

I’ve spent a considerable amount of time playing the Worms-games in my youth. Simply because they were some of the most enjoyable multiplayer-games out there. Now, after a couple of years without touching any installment of this franchise, I still think that Worms is a diverting experience, especially if you play it with some of your buddies. It didn’t really bother me that - mechanics-wise - not much has changed since my time with Worms. Being able to just jump back in there, without having to get reintroduced to the whole franchise, actually made me feel glad. But at the same time, this fact might pose a huge flaw for people, who’ve played many or maybe even every other Worms-game. So I can only unconditionally recommend Worms W.M.D to newcomers or veterans, who are returning to the franchise after taking a longer break from it.

Worms WMD is a fun game to play with friends. The new vehicles and weapon building mechanics are enough to make the game feel fresh. It doesn't really bring enough to the table if it comes to renewal of the franchise though.

There’s no reason any new player to the Worms franchise wouldn’t get a quick kick out of this one, but it’s difficult to recommend the game to series veterans who can get a cleaner experience from the entries they currently own.

A return to the old days of 2D jumping and shooting is flawed with a slow AI. But as a nice arcade relaxing game for a bunch of friends it serves well. [Issue#267]

But the worst innovation is weapon crafting. Right in the middle of a match. "But it's not going to work!", you'll say. You are absolutely right.

  1. While Worms W.M.D. might evoke the halcyon days of Armageddon, it’s more than capable of standing on its own as another high point for the series.

So this is the best Worms game they made since Worms Armageddon and Worms World Party.
It's fun and does some interesting new stuff.

So this is the best Worms game they made since Worms Armageddon and Worms World Party.
It's fun and does some interesting new stuff.

BUT: This game needs a lot of changes from the developer, or the online community is dead again in a few months as everybody goes back to Worms Armageddon.

Besides many small things that need tweaks and fixes, the developer needs to add a global text chat to the server browser, the option to put craftable weapons into schemes, and many missing weapons like Bow & Arrow, Freeze, Moles, Petrol Bombs, Low Gravity, Mole, and others.

This game is not on one level with Worms: Armageddon but if they keep working on it, it could be.

Also a warning: If you buy this game you don't get all the weapons. Some were exclusive as a pre-order bonus. They have to fix this and give all weapons to all players.

I've played them all. Been a fan ever since the original in 1995. 1, Armageddon and then perhaps Reloaded are my favorites, but with Worms:I've played them all. Been a fan ever since the original in 1995. 1, Armageddon and then perhaps Reloaded are my favorites, but with Worms: W.M.D I think I might have to change that to a singular game. In other words: This game is everything I love about Worms. For some reason Revolution just didn't work for me. Not in a technical sense, but in the sense that it didn't have that magic ingredient that is absolutely imperative for a Worms game to work. W.M.D has this in spades!

First off, the vehicles! I love them! It is amazing how much it adds to the gameplay. Then there's the single player gampaign, which is actually quite well done and challenging. You sortof get the idea of what they want you to do, but since it is Worms, everything doesn't always turn out the way you thought it would. And that mayhem is just a blast to behold. Literally!

The personality of the Worms also shines through. Probably THE most important thing in a Worms game is the speech banks. And so far I've chuckled aplenty when my Worms complain or scream when a grenade lands nearby. It's just a lot of fun to watch this game in action.

The new Worms design is also a large step forward. Gone is the super-cute Worms of the past. Now we have a more sinister looing worm, without shedding the cuteness completely. And that's ultimately the personality I want the worms to have. They are sortof these tough little guys who believe they are the master of the world. But they **** up over and over again, and thus we feel sorry for them while laughing our asses off.

Some small glitches aside, this game is the ultimate worms game. I give it a 9 since, unfortunately, there's still no easy way to create and upload custom speech banks, tomb stones and so on. I have been wishing for this forever. But Team17 doesn't seem to prioritize it. I would love to go bananas making these things and uploading. Perhaps in a future update.

Bottom line: This is the best Worms game since the series began.
