    This game has been going downhill from a developer who doesn't want to listen to their player base at all about making the game more fun but instead keeps pushing out stuff that makes the game less and less fun. The game before 2020 was good and then they made the CV Rework which broke the game for CV to be so OP that if you had anyone that could barely play them now could do a massive amount of damage without learning how to play them. I played this game from the beginning and just seen it go from good to great to good to now just right boring, not fun to play, and ships that are overpowered towards other ships. It is just so wrong to see. Ships that were designed for AA defense cannot do anything against them. Ships that were designed to destroy Submarine cannot get close to them to destroy them either.
    Lastly, the microtransaction or what I say macrotransaction are just so high that normal people cannot afford it, and when they do afford it. it is too late for them to get what they want and just so f this poop, I am out.
    The great part of the game and has been since the start is the Art in the game. Everything else is so boring now and no new content except new ships in every update for people to buy that are just copy-paste ships from every other ship in the game.    … Expand

    Up until 2 years ago, the game was really fun, because you could more or less counter everything and you noticed what you did wrong and that your opponent was better or worse.

    But since the Nakhimov, the superships and especially the submarines, the game has just gotten worse. Nakhimov can be balanced by reducing damage, okay, doable.     Nakhimov can be balanced by reducing damage, okay, doable.
    But with the submarines you would have to change everything. They're too fast, the ping has far too much range, homing torps..... who doesn't know them. I heard that sonar was supposed to help against submarines. But not in WoWs, nothing should help against submarines.

    Actually, the game should work like rock paper scissors.
    Destroyers counter battleships, cruisers counter destroyers, battleships counter destroyers. Planes can be avoided and skilled on flag.

    But submarines have no counter. Yes you can kill them, but the effort is way too big.

    I hope that people from Wargaming never go to companies they like, because the company is broke after 2 years or the quality is still at 10% of the original quality.    … Expand

    PLEASE NOTE, the critic reviews are over 7 years old. The game has changed drastically over that time. They literally threw out any strategy out the window and introduce ships that make this game un playable.

    They want you to spend money on new ship after new ship. Dont get sucked in.

    My clan is pretty active, but we have "rules" against talking negative about the game, because almost everyone despises so many aspects that we just continuously have negative discussions whenever we talk about the game.... And we even try to stay positive to (as we are optimistic people in general) so that should tell you enough really.......

    There is unfortunately no sign of things improving as the community has been screaming for years, but they continue the force-feeding.

    Hopefully in a couple of years, when they wake up with their IP destroyed, mainly by bad monetary results from a dwindling player base and boycotters (brand name is already really down bad, basically unsavable in its current state) they will make positive changes to the game.     The estetics are awsome, great looking grafic, high amount of details and good sound.
    You have 5 classes: Desdroyers (DD), Cruisers (CL/CA), Battleships (BB), submarines(SS) and aircraft carryer (CV).
    Now to the frust factors:
    1. No respawn + high TTK: Frustrating when you are getting oneshottet.
    2. Community is really toxic: especially if you are playing playing as SS or CV, even tho they are not they most anoying thing in the game.
    3. The grind: this game is brutaliy grindheavy, especially if you are a F2P player, then you will spend months grinding
    4. Pricepolicy: their pricing policy is bold and one of my biggest points. I never saw a game with such absurd high costs.
    Monthly 8,20€ to get double XP and credits and you still grind your a** off. Ships can cost between 40€ - 70€ and if you want an even ship now, it will go up to 250€. Flaggs and skins cost (with some eceptions) real money and are gone after one match...or one one-shot.
    5. Matchmaking: this can between 2 Tiers. Means you can face Ships that are 2 Tiers above yours and thats a huge difference and really frustrating.
    6. Meta: Right now, from my experience, the meta looks like only two classes are in only one way playable: Sniper-BBs and ambush-DDs.
    Cruisers are just XP Pinatas, destroyers ambushes with a one-shot torp salvo while beeing stealth in front of you. BBs are just slow, chonky snipers in the background and flaming the CV for only existing. SS stay underwater somhere and get flamed for beeing in game and get oneshottet after beeing spottet.

    It's an okay game, but the higher you go, the less fun you will have. It is certanly better than things like war thunders naval, but still annoying sometimes

    Ok so i like Submarines. But the way they target is total fabrication and boring and player unfriendly. I like Aircraft Carriers as well very cool. But the one reason i refuse to play is the unrealistic childish way the ships and submarines glide across the water. Not only is it too fast but the cornering is too fast they seem to glide not break water or waves. We all know yhis looks daftOk so i like Submarines. Every time I play this game, every time I press the battle button, I am instantaneously and totally disappointed. The amount of disrespect and borderline malice shown to the playerbase is simply ridiculous -- this company treats us like the staff treats their rat infestation at the local Papa Johns; first baiting us, then exterminating us entirely.
    More pressing is the languid bureaucracy of the company execution. The system for suggesting and implementing changes in this game is simply kafkaeqsue -- its designed in a purposely convoluted way to specifically disencentivise it. Anyone who comes near Wargaming is instantly tainted by their disgusting practices and policies. I would rather dig graves for a living and earn minimum wage than be a Wargaming executive and earn six figures a year. Probably the worst commercial game developing company in the industry -- and yes, I've heard of EA.
    If you're thinking of getting this game, don't touch it. Don't look at it. Don't interact with anyone in the community. Just press the x at the top right of your screen and forget it ever happened. Go outside and get some fresh air. Do your chores -- you'll probably find it more fun anyways.    … Expand

Entire ship lines are being added primarily to drive yet more sales, while other lines are artificially propped up to keep the number of players using them at an acceptable level. Everything now revolves around maintaining gameplay stats where the parent company wants them and constantly increasing revenue.

    My advice is to avoid this game completely. Whatever fun can still be had here, it's not worth dealing with the ongoing efforts to wring every last penny out of the player base. Spend your time and money elsewhere.    … Expand

    Firstly the good things i found in playing this game: Great graphics - the ships are fantastic modelled, the environment looks great and kind of realistic. The game play can be intense and fun if you are into slow paced arcade games. Don't be fooled by its title, this game is a naval combat themed arcade shooter. It just puts you into a naval theme to shoot at things nothing more andFirstly the good things i found in playing this game: Great graphics - the ships are fantastic modelled, the environment looks great and kind of realistic. The game play can be intense and fun if you are into slow paced arcade games. Don't be fooled by its title, this game is a naval combat themed arcade shooter. It just puts you into a naval theme to shoot at things nothing more and nothing less. It doesn't simulated naval combat in any fashion, most of the stats and the way things work are fantasy to make the game interesting and work properly and this is nothing bad per se.
    Now the bad:
    The power gap between the classes and levels are huge, this especially true because you can face up to 2 levels (tiers) above you own. The power creep is also a big factor in this game, balancing is inconsistent and seems to focus on maximizing the profit for the developer. This leads to overpowered ships left in the game for months, sometimes for years. Certain classes have a huge griefing factor because there is no counter and the interaction between the classes are one sided (air craft carriers vs other classes). Skill can mitigate that to certain point.

    Interesting and powerful content is more often behind a pay wall, so that adds a certain pay-to-win feeling to the game. But you can still play without spending a dime and all tech tree ships are available without spending real cash.
    Overall I think this game is ok for killing some time but in my opinion on a downward spiral.    … Expand

    - gameplay is scuffed - as ONE example there is currently a torpedo bug that literally puts torpedoes where you DON'T send them (this has been acknowledged and not fixed for several patches now);
    -    Have been playing since beta. It's only gotten worse over time. The game looks and sounds amazing (congrats art department), but it's a complete dumpster fire in all other areas that matter:
    - gameplay is scuffed - as ONE example there is currently a torpedo bug that literally puts torpedoes where you DON'T send them (this has been acknowledged and not fixed for several patches now);
    - the balance is balans - everything Russian is made of stalinium which is the strongest metal on Earth (even stronger than adamantium and vibranium combined) - and this means both hulls and shells - basically everything russian is incredibly well made even though most of their hulls would not even stay afloat the way they're presented in game. Historical realism is something the company takes pride in but there are so many "paper ships" nowadays it doesn't really matter at all (ships that never existed outside of drawn plans);
    - the marketing and aggressiveness of monetization has become absolutely insane over the past few years, it's like Wargaming is trying to burn their game down and in the process collect as much money as possible in the process whilst alienating the community at the same time; loot boxes everywhere, unreasonably priced and with wording that makes you believe something that is not real (drop chance of a certain wanted item) - also with hidden mechanics.

    This game is also rated pegi-7 but is literally a slot machine simulator with boats. As good as those boats look and sound, I'ma head out now.    … Expand

    This game is not the game I loved. People would rather give up free perks in the game than work with this company.

    The developer is hoping that they can continue replacing their old hemmoraging player base with new blood forever. I'm here to warn you not to be that new blood. There is still some fun to be had here, but it's not worth the near weekly PR disasters, predatory practices and wildly imbalanced game. I'd advise you to look elsewhere    … Expand

However Wargaming LLC refuses to listen to players and rams new mechanics and classes into the game. They are focused solely on short term game and ignoring everything else including the health and balance of the game. I rub myself into it all week, except with a break to sleep, I generally like it, it captures the full program!     My work is hard and responsible. Sometimes you want to unload yourself emotionally. I found a way out for myself - the game World of Warships. Moreover, the mood improves, but health does not deteriorate.

    We need more games like this, they are made with great detail and affection, it is not a game to run, if not to enjoy the adventure. Just look at this graphic! A really very good game. Everything works without problems and complaints. I really liked the interface and the functionality of the game itself. The game is excellent, does not slow down, does not throw it to the desktop.     Very Fun Game. Great for kids who like strategy games and has NO violence at all, great for the whole family. I have a rest in the game, it allows me to think, but not to relax. In general, everything is clear and I would like more prizes. While playing, you just don't notice how time flies. The design is bright and colorful. I recommend everyone to try this game. It's fun and exciting.

    CV's are absurdly over powered. They make concealment pointless by spotting everything at will. They can create a deadly crossfire anywhere on the map. They make positioning (80% of the game) meaningless because they can see/hit you anyway. They have equal to or better armor than even tiered BB's. They're not    This game could be great. But it's like the Dev team doesn't play it at all.

They're not even slow, heavy cruisers lose in a footrace. 15 minutes into a game they can still field full squadrons of aircraft even though by then whoever is left is going to have reduced AA due to attrition. Not that AA is a counter to aircraft anyway. regardless of your AA rating, they will get at least 2 attack runs at you per squadron. Other ships might be able to spot, or create a crossfire, or deal massive damage, or have awesome armor, but in order to take advantage of these capabilities the ship must put itself in harms way, risking or spending HP. CV's can do all this without risking HP or positioning.
    CV's function in the game like a tax. if there's one in the game, you're going to lose health to them.
    This is AFTER the big CV rework. a joke.

    The most recent patch as of this review was the commander skill update, 10.0.0 including a buff to BB dispersion of 10% (which is massive) as long as no ships are within your normal spotting distance. ensuring that BB's are played at max range. this combined with the state of CV's and HE spammers means BB's don't brawl anymore. leaving cruisers and DD's on the front line. so they stick to their islands and hide. makes for amazing gameplay (sarcasm). Unless of course there's a carrier in the game, then the island is worthless anyway and the whole thing devolves into a camp-fest and wait for the last 5 minutes to play.

    And now WG is going to release Subs into this mess... virtually guaranteeing BB's won't come near a cap.
    The current meta of the game: Whichever team pushes first, loses.

    And WG could fix this. it didn't used to be this way. There used to be a viable place for brawling BB's, for sniping BB's, for concealment centric cruisers and island hoppers. Playing used to be dynamic. In its current state its stale, stagnant, frustrating.

    If WG decides they want to make a good game they can. until they make this one, I suggest War Thunder.    … Expand

    Recommend spending your time and money elsewhere. They don't care about any player base outside of Russia. Their match making system is broken and will match Tier 7 ships against Tier 10s. They will also pit the same T7 against the T10. It's not worth the anger, frustration even to download their games.

    graphic is good, game play is good, game mechanic somehow is okay and not pay to win and its actually pay to progress however the problem is with the matchmaking system too much RNG, sometimes you will get 4CVs in a match which not fun when they snipe you and you cant do anything about it. matchmaking is also often put you on the bottom tier which you will facing high tier ships.

    i played this game since it was in closed alpha, back therm the game was promising, the ships looked balanced overall, each branch had it's strong point and it's weak points, but they **** it up has usual from wargaming...

    3: events where you had to play 24h/day games just to manage to grind for free ( THE PAY TO RICO EVENT) has a example
    4: they don't give a **** to they're community contributors
    5: the ranked battles where you have to have tier 10 in order to procede to higher ranks
    6: pve battles, are a joke, no balance at all
    7: the match making system is a piece of unbalanced ****
    8: the grind up to level 5 it's easy but after that you end up in matches where the opposing team has at least 1 radar detection ship or sonar in it
    9: premium destroyer ships are weak, they need be buffed but wargaming is a **** and doesn't listen to it's player base
    10: costumer support doesn't existe
    11: no tutorial explain how a player should counter or avoid a radar ship

    this pretty much sums up this game...

    Some ships deemed "pay to win"

    Okay, the game is pretty fun. It's graphics are good, the detail on the ships is good, and the gameplay is fun. Grinding is so much easier than WoT, another wargaming title. You can actually survive long enough to get credits and exp, and you can (if you want/no one's up) play against bots. And they can win. Unlike WoT, the chat is somewhat civil (there's still salty ass people there, but no where as bad).

    However, with the rework to the aircraft carriers last year, in order to make them viable they've made them too powerful, thus rendering AA cruisers mostly ineffective. While they can work, the consumables they use will run out while the Carrier can keep attacking.

    They've also taken away what made Japanese destoryers fun to play as (their long range torps.) While they still have range, they're giving other countries the same range so it's making them less viable.

    Note to BB (battleship players), to avoid raging at people with torps, please... USE W A S D to change course and speed! Going in a straight line makes it easy to kill you!!!!    … Expand

    At some point they started favoring the Russian server over all other servers and the game took a nose dive in quality and balance. They started adding HE spamming ships with such little Armour that you could barely scratch them because everything over penned.     if you want to play another nation, be prepare to be rape by russian ships who never exist in real life and are totally overpowered and ruins the game.

    Played this game for over 4 years, DO NOT MAKE MY SAME MISTAKE.
    Wargaming is the worst game developer I've ever seen (even worse than EA or Bethesda), don't fall for their sketches, they only want as much of your money as possible. If you don't believe me just type "Puerto Rico Wows Grind" and see for yourself.

    Game is very much an arcade style game, completely unrealistic and the worst part is the community is super toxic, you ask questions about stuff on the forums and 90% of what you get is rude and insulting, people even name calling in personal messages, I reported 3 people within the first 1 hour of being on the forums for harassment and abuse, I would avoid this game like the plague.
