NCSOFT embarrasses themselves again with a moderately generic WoW clone that removes any improvements made to the formula this century and injects various 2014 team game cliches: Pixar-esque art (though more genuine than cringeworthy attempts by Gearbox, at least), the One Pet Class That Is a Roboticist, an obvious attempt at ripping off Pandora of Borderlands but with cat girls instead ofNCSOFT embarrasses themselves again with a moderately generic WoW clone that removes any improvements made to the formula this century and injects various 2014 team game cliches: Pixar-esque art (though more genuine than cringeworthy attempts by Gearbox, at least), the One Pet Class That Is a Roboticist, an obvious attempt at ripping off Pandora of Borderlands but with cat girls instead of shirt designs from Hot Topic, "dodge the danger zone" boss mechanics like it's a phone game, and an obvious imminent discontinuation of support. Meanwhile combat is slow, quests are boring, there's absolutely nothing that is new except nominally, and once again NCSOFT is providing the worst customer support in existence.

Unsurprisingly the game went free-to-play within moments of its release, as will be the case for most MMOs from here on out, along with mechanics that increasingly resemble freemium phone games such as 20 different currencies from 20 different sources, AFK passive gameplay, data mining, daily DLC that requires more research than investments, over-emphasis on copying video games from the early 2000s, deceptive marketing that makes the product almost indistinguishable from a more successful competitor, utterly cluttered user interfaces, and, of course, a much higher price hidden behind exploitative marketing tactics.

Thank you o NCSOFT for this blessing (turd) you have bestowed upon the MMORPG market. Now bring back City of Heroes or sell it already.

REVISITING THE REVIEW IN 2020: support was indeed discontinued in 2018. Wow, who could have guessed? It's as though I'm more familiar with the workings of NCSOFT than the people who rated my review.

This is worst optimized game ever, also with very low player base for MMO. Most of AMD card owners do not have huge problems with the game, but even GTX1080 players on onf forums say that they can't even get stable 60FPS... So forget to play the game on 600, 700 or 800 GPU versions. Also instead of fixing code problems they are forcing players to use side guides and changing gamer optimized systems to somehow normally run Wildstar and make all other games unplayable on this systems, also some of that fixes may harm you machine if you don't know what and how to do... So take care. Very strange that Wildstar graphics level game can't run better, even same like Black Desert or Star Citizen... (some funboys say that Wildstar have Better graphics than Black Desert or Star Citizen... Happen... O.o)
Graphics are way old for resource consumption, even Legion expansion provides same level graphics with very low resource usage, will say nothing how far Wildstar is from WoW.
But ideas of the game on lunch was cool and really fun, but all even live features (don't wait new ones at all) are cutted off and optimized for very low online Steam helps a little to increase player base, but anyway there are very low number of players who play it.
Can't say do not try it, maybe you will like it, cos game still have nice ART and still left some interesting features, but game which developers don't want to fix 2-3 years old problems and make game somehow playable for its level can't be scored by me. So sorry, but 0/10, Shame to NCsoft after so many great projects creating Wildstar...

No new content about 2 years and now its completely based on the cash shop for new skins or something else. Just another mmo without any interest of players, just want to do more cash.
6 dunjons, 3 raids in 2 years... but all was announced in 2013... the crafting system is a big **** without any interst in the game. so.. don't pay for it, any adventage.

This game would have ben cool 10 years ago. But today it just lacks basic features we are all used to and love. Also the community is rely toxic and unfriendly. You are getting kicked out of low lvl dungeons while levelling because you dont do top dps and Dunn stuff like that.

Every person I know that got this game quit within the first month (I quit after a week and a half). Most got to max level to find that the only way to successfully complete a dungeon (with a decent ranking for good loot) was to run only with people from the guild. So unless you have a guild full of competent people that don't mind running some of the most boring content in an MMO there really isn't a reason to get this game.

You can literally pick ANY other MMO on the market and they are better than this game.

There isn't anything really new there MMO wise. Even the sci-fi setting fails... you start in a space-ship and end up hunting rhinos on a savannah. Nothing interesting there for sci-fi lovers.

I played it regularly with friends and even the co-op action didn't help. Maybe it's an MMO for action junkies and for Hardcore people. The dynamic action part is fluent and okay, but everything else is boring. Eventually I guess that the game works and that it has all the pieces a game needs but it's totally boring and disappointing nevertheless.

I really wish I could like this game and get to the fun part which I've heard is after level 20. From level 13 to 16 I would log in, level for 20 minutes and log out again because I was bored senseless.

To top this off I really dislike the UI and the lack of simple features that you are used to having in modern games.

On the positive side the combat system did look promising and I liked the crafting system although this too suffered from UI problems.

Too hardcore for my taste. I was looking to get away from hardcore WoW raiding and just enjoy a game. Unfortunately trying to heal the first instance was incredibly hard and unforgiving. One shot mechanics, interrupts requiring 3/5 people to interrupt and many more torturous mechanics.

There has obviously been a lot of effort put into the game design and there is a lot to do, but it all feels like a chore, more work than fun.

The story is, as is often the case in games using text in lieu of voiced dialogue, very weak. You choose a side, based on who wears the most stylish uniforms, and are soon dropped into the open world. Where you wander around, doing standard MMO quests- "fetch ten bear's asses for a reward". I didn't play very far through the story, because it's boring and pointless. I honestly don't believe anybody cared once about their story content. This brings me to the combat. The combat is smooth, with GW2-esque style. The combat, in PvE, at least, is passable. O.K. meh. However, after enough of it, it just feels like a grind. The animation style, which... ugh... looks pretty bad, reminds me of borderlands 2 in the worst ways. Come to think of it, it reminds me of BL2 in a lot of ways. Crappy art style, boring quests and garbage storytelling. Also, I didn't finish either.

Interestingly, I never bought this game. I played about ten hours of it in the free 'beta' about a week before release (IE, the full game, but just a trial). And that told me everything I needed to know. Including that there was no way in hell I would fork over $60 and a subscription fee for this. Funny, how this game has a higher rating than ESO, a superior MMO by all means.

If you choose to do so, you will have a fair amount of fun (at least for the first, free month). But I can't see any reason to actually subscribe to it, unless it's exactly what you are looking for (a generic, typical Themepark grindfest with no real soul).

BTW: don't get fooled thinking this game is somewhat more "hardcore" than anything else out there. It's not. Sure, you can die way faster in Wildstar due to many merciless, one-hit mechanics. But in the end it's the same **** like in any other MMO you've played so far. If you don't have problems memorizing the movement in other games, there's really not much difference here. It's simply an annoyance thing, not an evolution in game mechanics ....

After playing Wildstar for a couple hours I've realized that I'm not looking at the game world at all. My vision got tunneled. In combat I'm looking at the telegraphs. While questing every clickable object has shiny icon on top of it. So all I do is run from one shiny icon to another. The bright world style and the full screen bloom effect doesn't help either.

For those burnt out on WOW's content, WildStar is easy to endorse. Immediately familiar to anyone who's visited Azeroth and with enough new twists on the tried-and-tested theme park formula, Carbine's game is so overflowing with stuff to do that it's certainly justified in asking for a subscription - even if less people seem prepared to sign up to one.

Wildstar banks on hardcore raid and instance difficulty as well as its excellently implemented "dancing" real time combat mechanic to offer something significantly new and fresh to the MMORPG scene. Low server population and annoying hints of a "Pay To Win More" model hold it back in certain areas, but it has all the potential of becoming a well established and much loved setting for years to come.
