As an accompaniment to school projects, Wild Earth is a worthwhile title, but as a game for your little 'uns it's unlikely to be long before they're begging for a quick round of "Quake." [May 2007, p.67]
  2. It's fun, accessible, full of educational info and should keep young'ns happy for a good while.
  3. With a bit more clout in the technology and art departments, the lack of compelling gameplay could have been forgiven, but as it is Wild Earth remains more of a curiosity.
  4. Issues of graphics aside, Wild Earth: Africa’s strengths lie in the way it manages to convey information in a friendly and intelligent manner, while still holding onto a solid (if very unremarkable) gameplay system.

An admirable amble across the African wilderness at a fraction of the cost of the real thing. [Oct 2006, p.82]
  6. Think of it as an educational family-oriented version of Deer Hunter in which the rifle has been replaced by a camera.
