It's a solid RPG which builds well on the previous Wasteland releases and the genre overall.

Some idiotic chatter on the radio etc. I dunno, all this just adds to the feeling of linearity. The game drags you through this silly 10-y.o. targeted stuff... I guess they need it for sales, and since the console version will probably sell more copies than the PC one. Well, good luck.

My first wasteland game and I'm happy to say I'm enjoying myself. I dont feel left behind having not played the first two games, and I enjoy the classic rpg style and gameplay. I'm playing on gamepass, but I definitely could see myself purchasing this or dlc for this title.

This game is fantastic, it only came out 4 days ago and I already sunk over 40 hours into it without realizing. The RPG elements, choices and consequences, dark humor and setting FEEL like the original Fallout games, and the combat has changed from Wasteland 2's initiative based system to something more like the modern XCOM games, which I think feels a lot more fun in practice. My only real complaint about the game so far is the loooong loading times even on a PC with an M.2 SSD, Ryzen 5 3600 and 16gb DDR4-3200 RAM. I also kinda wish character models didn't suddenly lose their hair/go bald when you put hats on them, maybe that is something that can get improved on with a patch or mods. Fantastic game though. I just get tremendous pleasure from the game. It is interesting to read all the dialogues, lore of the game. The combat mechanics are great. The interface is convenient. Cool music and sounds. Of course, I would like to have faster level loadings, because even on the SSD they are quite long and have fixed several bugs. Otherwise, I am very happy with the game.

The story beyond the combat feels a bit thin though. The world feels empty and the driving around just ends up being tedious and pointless. It's also very obvious that several quests have limited angles to approach them. While there's some choices you can make it's not that you feel like you are really supposed to play "your way".

Not sure about replay value either, I definitely didn't feel like it immediately after nor after a few weeks went by. Might try it eventually just to see how far off story you can go.

The story is also interesting and engaging, and the missions are enjoyable, even side quests are worth doing for upgrades and just fun interactions, you never know who you're going to meet along the way. I can't name many games where you can pay to have sex with a goat, but you can in Wasteland 3.

Gameplay-wise it's solid, nothing innovative but it does the basics well. Switching to team-based turns was a good idea, the combat plays out much smoother this way. The game also has a ton of content, you're looking at 60+ hours at least, and there's no way you'll see everything in one playthrough.

Where the game really falls down is performance, stability and lack of polish, the game is riddled with bugs. I would describe it as a great game that's not in a great state, it needed to be delayed at least 3 months IMO. The loading times are also very long, probably the longest I can remember in recent memory, and they're frequent. The frame rate is generally OK whilst travelling the world but it really chugs in combat as the Unity engine just can't cope. There are also several bugs relating to performance, for example, every time you hit shift to highlight objects the game freezes and haemorrhages frame rate, these aren't problems unique to myself, everyone is suffering from them regardless of hardware. Co-op is another big issue, there are countless bugs and crashes related to this mode, so if you want to play with a friend you may wish to wait for a few patches. My advice, in general, would be to wait, this is a game that will only get better with time and I really do feel it's worth waiting for.

But... For me... it has to compete against the best game ever made in Divinity Original Sin 2 which is a very difficult proposition.

Wasteland 3 is a very enjoyable game but I’m comparing it to the greatest of all time so of course I’m going to be disappointed on occasion. Particularly during combat. There isn’t the variety of skills, and approaches to combat that makes DOS2 so brilliant.

However, there are moments of sheer brilliance in this and it is a must play.

    Now the complaints i have:
-Like others have said the loading times at the moment are unacceptable for 2020. No matter if you have super duper SSD every time you go to a different (map) the game loads for a 1minute minimum. And this wouldnt be that big deal if there wasnt so many map transitions and there is a lot of them. Also same load time every time you have to load a game. If they can somehow fix this issue i could easily give this game 9/10 maybe even a 10/10 who knows.
-The inventory/skill UI isnt very good but not game breaking.

Hopefully InXile will iron out the loading times and the bugs.

Wasteland 3 should actually be called Fallout 3, as it has much more in common with two legendary Interplay/Black Isle Studios games than any later entry to the Fallout series. If that’s not a sufficient recommendation, let me put it plainly: Wasteland 3 is the best turn-based post-apocalyptic RPG in many, many years. Yes, at the time of writing this review there were many gameplay and technical issues that needed to be addressed as soon as possible, but the fun this game offered made it very easy to look past them.
