thedrizzleNov 11, 2009Online play is pathetic- matchups include obvious laggers and cheaters when all they have to do is filter by ping- but you will consistently get people that lag like hell - sometimes an entire team of laggers- the people that programmed this are morons- its so simple to calculate whether a game will lag before it starts.. but they don't bother to let you filter by ping.

NoMadMNov 1, 2009The greatest Game of Warhammer 40.000 I ever Played! It's a very well mixture of RPG and Strategy. I play Warhammer since 1999 and could say it was the best Game...most realistik one...I know! It has devenetf dhe Flair of the Warhammer 40.000 Galexy. WELL DONE, RELIK! And, "For the Emperor!"

AaronLaneOct 22, 2009Just what I needed. More games like this! Warhammer 40,000 is an incredible universe with plenty of game-worthy ground to explore.

SPARTANVIOct 20, 2009Dawn of War II feels like Company of Heroes and StarCraft smushed together and it is a wonderful marriage. I haven't had so much fun PC gaming since... Company of Heroes. You rock Relic!

AronRoyOct 4, 2009More diversity is in need for the music and the maps. The game music range from DoW 1 was quite excellent and more diverse in its subjects. Otherwise an excellent game. AND there is a bug with the Heavy Autocannon from the dreadnought, sometimes it doesn*t fire, but the ability is realoading without any enemies having recieved fire, quitre annyoing..

STeveSteveSep 17, 2009The over hyped campaign was lame. The biggest screwup was creating a dump mp. There is nothing inherently wrong with no base building. The flaw is that the MP is treated like its a base building game which totally ruined the game.

DaveTolleyAug 5, 2009i've got the first DoW games and the expansions, so the change in direction was abit of a shock but once i got used to it, its fucking awesome i love the rpg elements i find it mixs it up abit so its not as boring as i find some other RTS's

mikemillerAug 3, 2009Great Campainge, even better in Co-op.
But theVersus multiplayer seems watered down, you have to be an expert player to be able to play, and its takes for ever just to get a few squads on the map. I give it a 9/10 because the campainge can kepp you goin for hours on end, if you can put up with a little repetitiveness.(made up word) -

MirasBukharbayevJul 30, 2009for me this is not better part of Dawn of War. 3 soldiers in group?! - it's like our idiots in fights. now battles don't make sense, it was better to see a huge army crashed by one Avatar maybe - it was Awesome!!! so ... I more like old Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War - it's BEST

KevinS.Jun 29, 2009While this game may not be the best RTS ever, it is fun amnd engaging. I love the moldability of my squad and the flexibility of each mission. At first I wasn't sure if I enjoyed how they reused the maps, but aftera while I realized that it was a lot of fun and it helped engage me into the story line.

BrianJJun 22, 2009Overall a very fun game. Graphics and visuals are very well done and sounds are good as well. Multiplayer is very fun with a bit of replay value, but there are some problems with balancing. Singleplayer is fairly boring and repetitive, but not so much as to make me lose interest. As said before, a very good game overall.

BenSJun 17, 2009Very good game, needs harder AI players, played it one night and can beat the experts already, very fun though, haven't tried the campaign mode yet, but will soon, and would have liked to see stationary defenses but overall the game is good, I'd say 9.5 outta 10 but that isn't an option and it isn't quite a 10/10.
-
-
StephenHJun 14, 2009Campaign is excellent. The only reason I gave it a 9 of 10 is for the Multi-player mode. It just doesn't live up to Dawn of War 1 yet.

VegeMJun 7, 2009Nice graphics and GUI but the game is too shallow for my liking. Never been a big fan of the standard RTS game so thought this one I might enjoy more because it claimed to be different from all the rest. Sure, the difference is that it is even less shallow than other RTS games because all there is to the game is simple sheep herding and finding cover. Boring!

-
JasonDJun 5, 2009i have played all of the games and was so looking forward to this one, the graphics are great and the story is brilliant but its nothing like the other games, no base building is a big mistake and game play is so slow. I have given it 4 weeks of trying to get into this game but have now given up and gone back to the originals. Shame as it was full of so much promise :(
-
-
ShanePJun 1, 2009Visually stunning and the campaign has an interesting RPG style twist to it. The multiplayer is enjoyable but it does suffer from balance issues. The games biggest downfall is the lack of multiplayer maps. There are for example, currently only two 2v2 maps in the ranked rotation.

-
FrisodeJJun 1, 2009This game is 1 gigantic anticlimax... No basebuilding, well okay. But not like this. It's like joining and waiting, waiting, waiting and when something seems to be happening it turns out to be stupid. I played it for 2 days begging it was just a slow beginning, but still, nothing... Good things: Great graphics and a good story, but nothing more than that. Overall: VERY bad...

DylanWMay 25, 2009Awesome game. Loved it. Still do. Only short coming I honestly give it, is that tyranids are unbalanced compared to the other races.
-
-
BBMay 24, 2009Fantastic new direction from a genre filled with cookie cutter games. less emphasis on building means more emphasis on fighting. The only thing it seems to be lacking is alien campaigns.
-
-
PhilipKMay 23, 2009This is my first time playing Warhammer 40K, and the first impression is pretty good. You start with an introduction of the game, and there is valuable information throughout the campaign. The game needs improvement in campaign length, its simply too short for me The missions also get too much the same, and the game gets boring quite fast.

JohnCerrilMay 20, 2009Great campaign, great multiplayer gameplay... if evenly matched. The TrueSkill in this game is so broken that I am quitting until they remove it from the system. It's a game I like to have fun in, and fun for me is not getting blasted by Rank 52 TrueSkill 36 people. Replay value plays heavily into my rating of all games, seeing as longevity is key in purchases.

TeroSalonenMay 19, 2009at the age i currently am having lived before the www and http i find this game so far the utmost peak of rts with all in cluded both faults and the <3 and the game lore also supports this type of a game aswell this game itself so 10/10 from me

MatusJMay 16, 2009This game is just so much fun and, the grafics and the way teh Story was made. its just amazing how they done it, they did a good job.
-
-
MatthewCMay 15, 2009This game is horrendous. The whole idea of the game is to copy Warhammer: Mark of Chaos, and slap "Dawn of War" on the title. They make it as little fun as Warhammer: Mark of Chaos was! They make you throw out the skills from DoW 1, and then they vomit on the coding and sell it. Do NOT buy under ANY circumstances.
-
-
DariuneMay 14, 2009This is a dreadful return of a very well made game. Take a mix of DOW and COH and strip them both down to their bare bones. Add absolutely nothing and sell it for full price, calling the dumbed down game with less content DOW2. Save your pennies people, this game is a chore not entertainment.
-
-
RickPMay 13, 2009This game Rocks! I have the entire Dawn of war series, love them all! But DOW II brings a whole new level to the intensity of the future of war... in teh future there is only WAR.

boxmonkeyboxmonkeyMay 12, 2009Could be better, single player needs to be for all races, need more races but i assume there will be expansions at a later date. other than that the game is great fun and worth buying.
-
-
JosephLMay 12, 2009Why it gets a 9 because, though it could use improvement in alot of areas, they do not shine how simply awesome the game itself is. Honestly, color me optimistic, but Relic is the best video game developer since Dynamix.
-
-
RyanGMay 11, 2009I LOVE the way the game flows now, yes, building management is very nice in games of the past. Personally I think Dawn of War needs the pace and focus on combat situations.
-
-
Mr.FireArmorMay 11, 2009This is going to be a classic. Hate that ill have to wait for expansions again though. Would have like to have seen different campaigns. Overall visualy stunning and rock solid gameplay. Another great add to the 40K series.

ChristemoAMay 10, 2009this game sucks balls compared to Dark Crusade and Soulstorm. Relic have taken their best franchise and killed it. there nothing to this game. its extremely bad and nothing else. if they had made this game properly, like the 3rd and 4th game, it would be 50
-
-
WilCMay 6, 2009While the game is visually impressive and fast paced, it may be too much so for anyone who was expecting something similar to the previous incarnations of the franchise. Base building is all but gone and the scale of combat has become small and squad-centric; somewhat like a bird's eye view of a first-person shooter playing out below.

JakeLApr 27, 2009Great game play, lots of options about how to play through. You can grind, quest, or throw in a mix of both. The only reason i wouldn't give War Hammer a full 10 is because the lack of people playing. WoW runs the market so i hope in the future this game will grow and bulk up its user base a little.

LuDApr 24, 2009A bit pricey at 50$, but this game is fast-paced and offers a kind of quirky realism that I found DoW 1 was missing...the different unit types really stand out a lot more in DoW 2 in terms of their abilities, which makes the game more of an rpg/rts sort of game. I personally like the new direction, i've only played for a few hours but it's tons of fun.

StuartPApr 17, 2009nice evolution from DOW, and i for one am glad to see that they have gone more towards the table top and traditional warhammer games (been playing the table top game since i was 12...... ooooo, far to long to be healthy!). DOW was a good RTS, but that's all it was. much happier with this version.

DavidDApr 13, 2009The campaign was ok, but it could have been much better if there had also been the campaigns for the different factions. also, where'd all the other races go? the multiplayer is really great, but i was put off by having to make a windows live account AND a steam account. one should be enough. looking forward to expansion packs

PaoloTApr 12, 2009i hate this stupid game, the first DoW is my favourite RTS ever (after Starcraft): this sequel is horrible, slow, with 5 types of unit...the graphic isn't so cool, too...give me the real sequel!!
-
-
MarjusAApr 11, 2009A good improvement from the previous game, far more true to the original tabletop game in all aspects. Definetively a direction I wish more RTS games would take.

jjApr 10, 2009So what if it doesn't have base building, This is the closest thing to the table top game that you will get. anyone who knows warhammer will be delighted with this game. The way you can use cover and pure tactics means everything to any general. Victory in this game is hard to come by online I have found, but when you win, it really really feels good.

RichardSteeleApr 6, 2009It completely fials in caturing the feel of warhammer 40K. Online multiplayer is a total failure, and skirmish is dull and totally uninteresting. Did I meantion it totally fails to capture the feel of warhammer 40K? It's just a lazy attempt to re-skin their WWII game. 4 man tactical squads? Has anyone at Relic even played 40K? Aparently not.
-
-
TimDApr 5, 2009I agree with Jim P. If it played I might even be able to score it. Contact about a non playing game with THQ has been fruitless. Yes I have the latest drivers, and yes it would have been nice if I could have read the fine print about Steam on the back of the box but I had forgotten my magnifying glass (not joking). What a Huge Waste.

RyanCMar 29, 2009I must say I was disappointed with this one. I got bored of it within the first hour, and I can't play more than one mission at a time now. Basically all that is required is that you can left click and right click, and then have enough patience to wait and see how long it takes for your guys to kill the enemy. Boring.

AnonymousMCMar 23, 2009A month from release date and the game is riddled with bugs and cheating online. What could have been a great game is tarnished by it's lack of quick support from the developer who did not leave the game in beta long enough to fix bugs known for quite awhile.
-
-
WaltDMar 23, 2009A huge step back from the original and for what? Prettier graphics? Too bad there is less of everything else( units, maps,sp ai,fun, etc ). Relic/THQ will NOT be seeing any more of my gaming dollars. This game is an insult. I did enjoy the campaign though. Unfortunately I finished that in a week and haven't touched DOW2 since.

FabianLMar 22, 2009Except the bugs which will be fixed soon and some balance problems here and there the game is simply awesome. To me the best RTS game out there. Even the singleplayer is awesome I say. First singleplayer campaign in ages I´ve played several times. Usually I just hop into multi and give it a go, leaving single untouched.

Awards & Rankings
-
The single-player mash-up of RTS and RPG elements works really well, and the multiplayer is fast and exciting. Relic's reinvention of the Dawn of War brand is a breath of fresh (or possibly fetid, Tyranid infested) air.
-
Dawn of War II is a highly innovative twist on the usual RTS formula that dares to think outside the box while staying true to the WH40k source material. Campaign co-op play is a great addition to the already superb single player game but the head-to-head multiplayer skirmish is a bit of a disappointment.
-
Dawn of War was a finely tuned game with huge battles and many disposable troops. Dawn of War II is faster, lighter, smaller, in some ways more interesting and in other ways somewhat lacking in its execution. But taken as a whole it’s impossible to not recommend the game to 40K fans and to those who are willing to accept that this is not a linear sequel to an aging franchise.
