I spent 60 hours and $20 dollars on this game. I don't regret it. I just hit a point where the game's repetitive levels and waiting game just became too frustrating for me. It was fun for those 60 hours, it's just that I think I hit the point where I stop liking this game.

Rather than pushing the limits of the game or creating content that's fresh and new, Digital Extremes (DE) played it safe and spent an entire year's worth of development on an open world map that while beautiful and with small, fun side activities, quickly becomes monotonous and boring. For a game that's built around repeating missions, DE somehow managed to make the grind and repetition of the game feel even worse. There is admittedly a "part two" of Fortuna expected to release in the coming month or so. It can be argued waiting an entire year through a content drought only to have the big update be split into two time-separated releases is a bit disingenuous to the dedicated player base.

The biggest issue with the game is that the game's namesake, the heart and core of the game: the Warframes themselves, have been allowed to age with very little time and investment put into updating and reworking them. DE has admitted themselves that in order to stay in business they have to keep pushing for updates and while that philosophy drove the game to its current success, will it continue to do so as the game will soon enter its 6th year this coming March?

When you devote an extended period of time and real life money into creating powerful and tested builds for your arsenal of weapons and Warframes only to get destroyed by enemies when you attempt higher level bounties on Fortuna or any of the other "endgame" activities (such as Arbitration and Elite Sanctuary Onslaught), the archaic designs and weaknesses of the aging Warframe roster and DE's unwillingness to devote time and effort into updating them becomes glaringly evident. A select few "meta" Warframes excel at most content and feel powerful, some fill niche roles, while others are just used for "fashionframe." The forums are filled with pages and pages of passionate player feedback and ideas that could be used toward updating older Warframes to compete in the game's current meta, yet as the end of the year approaches, we'll only see two older Warframes seeing some adjustments. To reiterate, that is only 2 out of the game's 37 current arsenal of Warframes.

This game is solid and still worth playing. It has a very enthusiastic and passionate community and the development team are among the kindest, most passionate people in the gaming industry. They have fantastic channels of active communication between themselves and the player base. They make you want to throw money at them to support the beacon of light that they are amongst a sea of greedy game developers. But with all that being said, Warframe is aging and I implore DE to start fixing our beloved frames sooner rather than later, doing so can solidify this franchise as one of the best ever created.

After Railjack the game has become even more incredibly buggy, sometimes being unplayable

If you enjoy grinding games, fast paced combat, different playstyles and occasional lore, I recommend this game, but only until you complete the quests, main missions and unlock what you want. For some people that may be close to 1000 hours or more, for others it could be only 100 or so.

You can mine resources with a cutter.
    Hunt and fish.
Engage in trading and sell rare artifacts to other players.
Pump syndicates to produce special equipment according to the type of augment mods for your frames (characters).
    CONS
Due to the huge amount of content added to the game recently, its performance has slightly sunk, often there are drawdowns or friezes. Here we go on the plains and we have 230 fps and then bang and drawdown to 90. You will think that this is not critical but believe me when playing at 200 + fps, this will significantly affect the most important efficiency in the squad during a serious skirmish, for example, on the boss.
A large number of bugs appeared. I saw a replica of my warframe on the ship and its head was spinning 360 degrees.
But relax, the game is often updated and the most unpleasant moments are fixed most often in the first place.

The game is fun to track enemies in. It is simple enough to play. What would make it better would be better gunplay, first person perspective, and more to trigger flow state.

edit: I came back to the game after a long time. The movement and the control scheme are unintuitive.

It feels very like a console game because of the pov you have. Think dead space one. Your positioned in third person with your own character taking up space in the foreground. It does have options to change the field of view and that works pretty well but although the game is well executed, for me it lacked depth and immersion.

It was ok. Giving it a rating which doesnt make excuses for the fact its free. If I had paid for it, I would be very unhappy but as it is. Its ok and worth a try. I suspect it will resonate more for some people than others.

    Warframe is a free-to-play game meaning the player has three options;

    1. Grind and farm like a monkey.

    2. Spend an unreasonable amount of money on in-game items.

    3. Not give a sh*t about the former and just play the game anyway.

The grind in the game is sadistically, insultingly steep. As with most MMOs you will be expected to do the same thing over and over just to obtain whatever item it is you're after. In the space of two years I have noticed a steady increase in the 'grindyness' of the game. This may or may not be related to a Chinese chicken meat company owning a majority share of Digital Extremes.

The business model is fair however, the in-game currency can be traded with other players for certain in-game items, so you needn't spend a penny. Pay to win is not really a thing here, but as mentioned, the player needs to put time in (re: farm, and farm hard).

After all that farming you just did, you can craft items from blueprints you find in missions, or buy from the market using the non-premium in-game currency. Crafting time for items varies, but is repulsive. Weapons can take up to 12 to 24 hours, 'frames' (new suits/characters) have to be acquired in four parts; blueprint, chassis, helmet and systems. These drop randomly from bosses. RNG is a thing, and the drop rates are, again, repulsive. Each part takes 12 hours each to craft, and when they're all done, the suit proper can be crafted which takes 72 hours. You can 'rush' crafting using premium currency, or you can turn the game off for three days. This is to say nothing of the materials required to make each part. Again, found in missions, randomly, and dropped by specific enemies, or not, depending how lucky you are with RNG.

The cash shop is disgustingly expensive.

There are weekend events occasionally, but these have been showing a steady decrease in quality and are becoming more and more buggy, repetitive, dull, badly designed and poorly explained. As a veteran player, I find myself ignoring them completely. They are wretched, frustrating and a waste of time.

Developers promise to alleviate grind and improve quality of life for the player, then introduce double RNG grind footlongs and call it an exciting new feature.

Depending where you live in the world, connection problems exist. Warframe uses P2P, which often results in trainwrecks of lag-ridden, unplayable, bug-filled matches.

The game isn't optimized terribly well, and in my experience doesn't seem to like AMD hardware very much. It's updated regularly, though new iteration breaks something else. Hotfixes are released quickly, and their support team is excellent.

In the end, the crux of the game revolves around destroying enemies, upgrading weapons, destroying enemies slightly easier. and doing it all over again when a new Warframe or weapon comes out. It's shallow, repetitive and getting worse, so get in when you can. May as well give it a try, entry is free.

It's very fun, but the whole experience is marred by a slew of game-breaking bugs, an extremely oppressive premium currency that you NEED, it is NOT OPTIONAL, if you want to use any more than a select few warframes and weapons, and a level up system that's time-gated. On top of this, not paying comes with several more time gates that range from a few hours to a full day (three days if you want to construct warframes) that totally halt all progression from planet to planet until the clock ticks down *or* you break out your wallet. And the prices on platinum are a downright swindle for what you get unless you get a rare, RNG-based 75% off coupon as your daily login reward, the rest of which may as well just say "Sorry, come back again tomorrow!"

Too many people give this game a pass by saying "Oh, but it's free to play, they have to make money somehow!" or "Oh, but you can trade for platinum, so stop complaining and just get to work!" Sorry, that's not a good enough argument to defend game mechanics that fundamentally are designed to coax anyone who has to suffer through them to just pay a few bucks and make the pain stop. EA wouldn't get a pass for this, neither should DE.

That said, I can tell how much passion DE has put into this game. There are dozens of warframes, which act as the game's classes, and each of them plays significantly different. Weapons are varied and unique, and each one requires a different playstyle and mod setup to make work. Some warframes, like Frost, excel at area denial and crowd control, making them a game-changer in defensive modes, others, like Nekros, make farming items less of a hassle by giving you double the loot, and still others, such as Octavia, support their team through abilities that grant buffs while also being quite a hindrance to enemy forces.

In the end, simply removing the practically harassing for payment arbitrary time gates that prevent basic progression from planet to planet (and artificially limit the rate at which someone can level up) would stack another two points onto my score. Fixing the many bugs I've experienced where the objective becomes unable to be completed, being able to fall out of the map without it transporting you back as it so happily loves to do if you so much as risk a fall, matchmaking freaking out and piling players together without the mission starting until you fiddle around with it, movement while not aiming being extremely jittery and awkward when moving backwards, and enemies teleporting around the map due to broken animations (not the effects of lag - lag just makes it that much worse), among many others, mixed with the removal of the aforementioned timegates would make this game a perfect 10. You know, it's kind of a shame this game is strictly free to play. It forces DE to implement such oppressive systems in order to make as much money off of as many people as they possibly can.

I wouldn't mind so much if I could actually improve my skills without having to spend real life money to buy 'platinum'. Since the credits you earn from missions is a pathetic sum compared to the cost of powering up your mods (without mods you basically have a lv30 Warframe that's as strong as a lv1). You get a maximum of 5000 credits if you farm the first boss for an item he drops worth 2500 credits 100% of the time. Building a new Warframe is also a chore, it costs 35k for the master blueprint, you then have to farm the specific boss for blueprints for helmet, chassis and systems. Not only will this take forever because of poor droprates, the parts also cost 25k each to build and 24 hours build time. You then have to build the Warframe for 25k more with a build time of 72 hours. We're already at 135k, but it doesn't end there! You also need an 'Orokin Reactor' to supercharge your Warframe, or you will be stuck at 50% of it's maximum potential. These only drop from rare alerts that have special rewards, with those Reactors being just about the rarest to come by. Once you finally get the blueprint for that, it takes another 35k to build that. So we're at 170k for a second Warframe. Couple this with MAYBE max 40k an hour for farming, and you're grinding the same mission over and over for at least 4.5 hours. Everything takes months in this game without spending real life money, for which in game items have a ridiculous price. Buying the pack for the Warframe 'Frost' (1 Warframe, 1 primary, 1 secondary and 1 melee) costs a whopping 60 USD. I can easily buy 5 great games for that kind of money in Steam sales which won't bore me to tears like Warframe does. Expand

Unfortunately the game has several severe problems which i hope get gets issued in the future. Firstly the game is p2w you can buy all the equipment you want for the real currency BUT for the most part it's "all" available from farming. Problem with this logic is that there are a few items including arguable the best warframe in the game vauban which aren't available from anything but alert missions which occur randomly every 40-70 minutes that drop blueprints from it and even then the chance of that mission giving a blueprint is next to nothing as of this post i've played the game for 150 hours and i've only seen the blue prints for a single piece of the frame being dropped and u need 3 pieces. Secondly the game requires catalyst or reactors to increase mod slots which are only available from paying real currency or extremely rare alert missions and aren't available anywhere as a drop.
The equipment/warframes bought from the cash shop come preinstalled with one forcing players to pay or trade for real currency in order to actually maximize their equipment for end game otherwise ur losing out on half ur mod slots. Yes there is trading unfortunately this is horribly done firstly the trading system only allows u to trade mods, platnium which is the real currency and void keys. The 50 platnium given at the start of the game are untradable what this does is create a market where unless u've gotten platnium from someone else you can't purchase anything. As a result the trade chat is degraded to hundreds of sellers and few buyers making trading utterly useless since most mods aren't worth enough to even be a single plat.
Lastly the biggest problem i have with this game is simply there is no reason to go solo, a single key will bring in 4 members of ur party, there is no difficulty increase like in other games and the difficulty of end game dungeons is easily circumvented by simply looking into the recruiting chat and joining a party of 4. This makes gearing up feel unsatisfying as u've probably already played the maps where you actually need to gear up in a party already making it a bit pointless to solo content. In order to fix this the game desperately needs maps that only allow soloing content as currently there's no incentive to do so over simply partying with someone else.
The game's repetitive grinding and recycling the same 5 game modes might turn some players off but it is a f2p game so worth giving it a shot just don't be too disappointed

You can also fight across planets in our own solar system. The games basically ninjas in space. Sadly, like most other free-to-plays, it has a special currency (platinum) that you have to buy, and most of the equipment, armor, and weapons require said currency. Yes , there is money that you earn through missions and killing enemies, but it's only use is to buy blueprints for the armor and weapons, ext. Once you've acquired those blueprints, you then need to farm enemies and repeat missions to earn the supplies, and each planet has particular components for the blueprints. I'm stuck on this clan key I have to build. I need 31 more polymer bundles, so I do this one mission over and over for them. But after 5 times, I don't get a single one. And I could waste all of the platinum I received in the beginning for it, but it will only let me buy 300 of them. Oh, and you receive 50 platinum platinum in the beginning, but there is nothing that costs 50 platinum or less, besides a few trifles and things that regenerate automatically. Therefore, I think Warframe is just a bit over-average.

Sure its F2P and EA, but if you decide to actually invest in it you do not get much for it:
The thing is that you start with one 'warframe'. If you want another one you will have to pay. Of course there is the lack of P2W but that involves a relentless grind. So much grinding that it feels like the deliberately made it this way so

Of course there is the lack of P2W but that involves a relentless grind. So much grinding that it feels like the deliberately made it this way so you would not be bothered with it and spend money.

There is no story at all.
Tactics are limited to grouping up and hoping your teammates are able to help and cooperate. It is possible to work together I suppose but there is no easy way of communicating.

Level design is repetitive yet confusing yet repetitive. Maps are divided in little zones and objectives are show by a logo at the edge of the zone you are currently in. Sometimes its just down the corridor, other times you have to look for a small hole in the wall way up or below, while enemies relentlessly attack you. If you die you can be revived by a teammate but if they are up ahead they will not be able to make it within 15 seconds before bleeding out. You can revive on the spot (enemies still there, surrounding your corpse and blocking your escape) up to 4 times a day for free. Do you need more? Wait or pay up!

All in all they need more diversity in the levels, AI, increase loot drops a bit and offer way more value for the currency you can buy. Be aware of price differences between their website and steam packages, also buying more does not mean more platinum for your money!

It is something that can grab your attention and keep it for a month but the grinding and repetitiveness will make you look for the next better thing.

However, your time should still be worth something and I will rate it based on that. I have played around 40 hours and if there is one thing the game gets right, its to have you play the same repetitive template over and over all in the name of progression. When I open the map, I see all these planets that I still have to explore. But, in reality, its not really exploring when the same mode just gets recycled and the level slightly different to before, disguised as something new(because its on a different planet now).

In a nutshell, the game has a few mission types, and basically assign them to different areas on different planets. Here and there is something unique, but its very rare. For example, one mission type is to hack 3 terminals in order to get data. You will do many of the same "hack 3 terminals to get data", only with some areas looking slightly different due to this procedurally generated mechanism. The problem is that these areas look very generic and can be ok for the first few hours, but after you have seen all mission types, everything feels very repetitive and just look the same. Oh, I saw this asset to the left on the previous mission. Now this asset is to the right. Its still the same damn asset I have seen a thousand times before.

This game gets high praise due to the fact that its free, but if you had to pay 60 for it, the ratings would have been much, much lower. I tried to like it and grinded away, but its just too repetitive.

If you are tight on cash, have time to waste, then this is for you. If you looking for a fantastic experience, from a perspective of what a video game should be, then I cannot recommend this.

I give it a 6, but if I had to pay more than 20 for this, it would be a 4 or a 5.

Would rate higher, but the AI spawning is really bad. There is no worse thing than clearing a room silently, walking out, and having an enemy alert everyone by walking in from the room you literally just cleared, or by actually spawning 3 ft. in front of you. Really is game breaking for me.

Gimp your frame with a lame game mechanic to grind mods you need (to grind some more) in orokin voids. There's three enemy factions, they're all retarded and boring. AI is nonexistant, enemy scaling requires exploits to farm effectively. Several frames and most of the weapons are underpowered. "The devs play the game" but they don't care half as much as their marketing department wants you to believe.

I believe that the whole problem with the game is poor development organization and the creative team that continues to constantly focus on new content rather than worrying about existing content.

    (Lore, History and Progression)
As we all know, the game's lore has been recycled and changed several times, the same happens with the concept of the game being space ninjas, for some time now we have stopped having space ninjas and have a completely different game.
The game's story and progression is horribly poorly structured especially for someone who is a new player, none of my friends are interested in playing this game and they are friends who don't know warframe and wanted to know the game, but the problem starts in another topic I was going to talk about.
Game progression should be structured by limiting new players from joining high level missions and making the game more fun for those who play, not making players jump from mission to planet to planet, not forcing players to go to open worlds without knowing what they are doing in the game, the community does not oblige you but it has the role of helping those who have doubts, the game should provide general level explanations of the whole game for new players.

    (Warframes and Combat)
I thought the new introduction of "warframes" characters into the game was funny, but currently I am completely against the absurd amount of warframes that most of them are not used or are completely useless and that need to take adequate buff to reach the interest of the players, which is nothing but general dmg, support, and durability in battle.
The Warframe actually became a League Of Legends with over 50+ Warframes of them normal and enhanced prime and Umbras versions.

The combat in general (melee, secondary and skills), the enemy npc's don't have any reaction there is no difficulty besides being authentic sponge enemies that absorb large amounts of damage and that doesn't bring any quality of life to the game.

    (NPC Enemys)
Enemies should dodge our attacks they defend but it's not enough to bring immersiveness to combat, they should walk in groups like The Grustrag Three, there should be more varieties of enemies that are a counter to warframes, not that they give random "One-Shot" to players but that add difficulty to the game. But in Digital Extreme's idea to add difficulty to the game is to add +200% armor and health to enemies and nerf warframes players and weapons, excellent idea.

    (Nerfs and Buffs)
As mentioned in the topic above I am completely against nerfs, this is because we put life time in this game to do the maximum grind to achieve good builds whether for weapons or warframes whether they are meta or not, they are timed and are nerfed for easily killing enemies , not allowing players to see enemies on the map and the problem is always the same it's not that the warframe and weapon is op, the problem is the game it's super easy and it's poorly structured if it wasn't like that then there's no reason to put DMG limits on Bosses in the game because players gave One Shot Kill on them.
There have to be mechanics that enemies interact to defend against warframes, bosses should have waves of enemies, stages like we have like Vay Hek but even it continues to be bad, there could be these fights against faction bosses in open worlds that we had to invade could add that to railjack combat but it needed to be greatly improved.

(Digital Extreme vs Content Creator and Community)
Digital Extreme was a company with a lot of respect that was taken away from it for stopping listening to the community and just starting listening to content creator(Content creators, extremely racist, still existing in the partner program)and canceling all analyzes and negative opinions about the development of the game(Banning people from forums), making threats of banning accounts because they negatively criticize the game.
If a Warframe partner content creator says a Warframe needs to nerf a weapon or anything they automatically put it on the changelist, that's disgusting.

Warframe is pretty, runs well even on lower end computers and has a wealth of content to play with from varying Warframes(basically classes like in any MMO that range from full out offense, defense and anything inbetween) along with a myriad of wacky looking weapons that still fit into the standards of Assault Rifle, Shotgun, Pistol, Sword and the like. There are three enemy factions with varying units and tactics along with a wealth of randomly generated levels. However most of the environments end up looking very same-y. And the game becomes a massive grind for materials if you want to unlock anything beyond the standard gear you're given in the game. Everything costs Platinum to get but a few items, you can't even get any Warframes unless you either buy them for cash(the most expensive being 56 dollars American) or grinding for blueprints for individual pieces(which are not guaranteed drops) and then components(usually several hundred of varied just to build the constituent components) and then you need to grind for credits to buy ANOTHER blueprint so you can put them together. And the building is all real time cooldowns, usually 3 days just to BUILD your new Warframe or Sentinel(think familiar that shoots things) or Weapon. Which ALL start at level one with no abilities( you only earn mods through combat and they give you your abilities to use in game). Comparing this to a similar game style that is Mass Effect 3's multiplayer, it doesn't take you nearly as long to progress in unlocking content. Unless you don't mind a grind or have a massive amount of money, don't bother with this Skinner box of a game. It is one of the worst examples of "Pay2Play" I've seen in a while despite its fun(at first) combat and funky aesthetic. Also one more note, even with a 50mb download the game lags horribly most of the time. Expand

The melee combat is very inaccurate unless you're stealth one-slash everything. If you use slash and you're standing up, you will hit the first strike and likely will miss the second because it makes you step forward. It's better if you crouch, but it's a hassle.

If you don't like to wait you can pay real money(and expensive too) and have it, they might as well make this game a subscription thing.

    The Bad:
There is very little PvP in the game, consider it mostly PvE where you join a group or try to solo instanced areas which seem to share almost the same layout. Levels are massive and filled with enemies, the storyline is non-existent and the community is about as childish as you'd expect. Not lasting fun if you play it without having a group of friends join you. Chat

    The Good:
Game mechanics are balanced but challenging for level appropriate stuff. Solo missions are extremely difficult and you only get a certain number of revives (lives) per day which can be used if you die so that you dont' have to start the mission over from scratch. If you go into this with some friends and mostly just play with them, you'll have a lot of fun.

Typical Free-to-play setup for the game. Very much pay-to-win.

This game has MAJOR flaws the number 1 flaw of this game is that the entire game is just grind ALL OF IT, it gives you the impression that the grinding will pay off eventually but it doesn't. You get no where there is no end game NOTHING, you just find a new weapon or a new character and level them up.

Another flaw is not really of the game but more the development team. The team is completely mis-staffed there is too many content creators and not enough people left to fix stuff, amongst the playerbase there is a popular opinion of the team that creates stuff isn't the team who fixes issues within the game. That is correct but the real issue is resource management.

Overall game design and direction come into play also. There seems to be a severe lack of clear direction when it comes to overall balance. At first they took the stand of every weapon should be balanced and compensated with mods. However now they seemed to have changed their view on it in favor of a tiering system that is utterly broken. Generally a tiering system works in a way that weapons that require higher stats out preform those with lower requirements. This is not the case it just appears to be random.

This is a f2p game afterall so the monization of content has to be questioned is it good, is it bad, inbetween? Answer, its misleading. As a new player in a F2p game the first thing I do is work out how much something costs a warframe will set you back an average of 20$ weapons around 10. That is just too expensive considering the games longevity solely depends on trying different weapons and warframes.

All of that being said there are still plenty of positives when it comes to this game. As other users have pointed out in much greater detail the mechanics and the sheer amount of fun that can be had whist playing in co-op are this games strong points whether they are strong enough to outweigh poor staff management and overall incompetence when it comes to game design. I don't know that is something people will have different opinions on.

The level design is incredibly boring and you only shoot and slice with your katana/sword/thingy.
I really did not appreciate this game after 1-2 hours of gameplay. And it took forever to get ANYTHING. Not even a single weapon or upgrade after 2,5 hours gameplay. Not even an item to build.

Not recommending. But since it's free, try it.

Even then, the movement and combat mechanics seemed pretty awesome. If that was the only thing I was basing my rating on, that would be an 8.5.
But the real kicker to the groin is the real money system. $20 will get you a cheap warframe, a weapon, and some respawns. (So if you die a lot, you end up having to pay just to continue playing the game)
If you really want everything, you can pay $260, and you after some time you may end up spending even more money.
Their greed has completely ruined what could have been great. If, instead of charging us large sums for absolutely nothing, they had provided a wealth of content and charged us reasonable prices, they could have had a gold mine, but right now the game tailors to spoiled rich kids.

Contrary to popular belief Warframe is a Loot game not an action game, the Beta is also a lie.

RNG reigns supreme here with drop rates for some parts as low as 0.67%, this was before DE encrypted the drop tables and the community could give feed back on such low drop rates, now we have no idea, DE told us that we would be able to view these drop rates in game with the use of their "codex" a half assed pokemon snap mechanic that currently does no such thing a whole major update later.

The gameplay boils down to mowing down hordes of half witted enemies that all look and feel extremely similar by pressing the #4 button repetitively, all of the levels look and feel extremely similar, and all of the objectives boil down to go from point A to point B or stand and hold point Z. All of the bosses are bullet sponges and pose very little threat to players. Playing with others is also a let down as everyone just rushes towards to end of the level, there is no need to stay and fight or look around. As a co op game there are also zero co op elements aside from a few doors you need 2 people to open. no end game what so ever, a half assed tutorial that will leave many if not all new players scrambling around in the dark and finally grind walls after grind walls
an example of one that was given another one
DE-"we get it the grind and RNG need toned down"
adds more grind and RNG in the next update

play levels for derelict blue prints, blueprints then can used to visit the derelict level (a rehash of the void levels) once there you play said levels for the boss blueprint which may or may not drop the parts you need leaving you back at the start
    or
    the derelict vaults
play mission for void keys (gives you access to the void levels) use these keys to make "dragon keys"
dragon keys open vault doors by give the player a massive debuff depending on the key crafted
    less HP
    less shields
    less movement speed (-75%)
    or less weapon damage
with 4 keys which one opens the vault?
RNG will decide what vault spawns in your mission that you've crafted yet another key to access
    lets review

    key for the derelict
void key for the vault key
pray you have the right key or waste time doing a mission with a huge debuff

at the time of writing updates have been adding more weapons (re-skins with different stats mostly) and more poorly planned "events" the last one consisted of players taking pictures of plants
the plants needed to "win" the event required a rare plant RNG again it also required 4 players to have the same type of plant juice ( rarest one) to win, this lead to many players trolling others by putting in the wrong one there by destroying everyone elses plants
this also left solo players unable to win the event regardless of the SOLO option
DE later put out a hotfix that allowed solo players to win by doing the work of all 4 players previously
take 4x the pictures of the rare plants (1 pic per plant)

DE does not seem to know what they are doing, aside from the art and style of the game I found very little to love as time went on and I began to see where this game was heading (nowhere)

fun gameplay is not found here
    stay away

Promises on content never delivered as supposed to be.. Content in this game got so out of touch with their own twisted views on what the hell this game even supposed to be. Regardless of trying to avoid the cash shop you still have to to get extra slots for your Warframes and Guns which is much needed as you play further. The difficulty of the game also hangs in the balance on your credit card balance. So I enjoyed the game and paid 50 dollars to be a founder to get a new Warframe and some value Platinum and restarted and soloed at the beginning with this new Frame with weapons bought from Cash Shop and was it a lot easier over my first Warframe that had massive amounts of difficulty on the first parts. As you get further though all Cash Shop weapons are purchasable even by in-game money but you have to build most of the awesome ones via blueprints.

Graphics and Visuals: There is nothing truly outstanding in this game that you haven't seen before. Nothing really game breaking or amazing. The bloom though is overtoned to the point where I had to turn it off because White Warframes are blindly bright.

Sound, Music, and Voice Acting: Nothing you haven't heard before. Guns go boom. Enemies scream. There is one hilarious thing where you capture people and they are just screaming their heads off though it'll get tiring after awhile. The music may be repetitive but I never get tired of it! It gets me pumped and is truly amazing. The drums and the beat just gets you pumped and wanting to shoot everything! Voice acting... well... there's not much to go by here. The game has some stupid alerts though. I mean really irrelevant like telling me what type bad guys are up ahead but later in the game that becomes useful as you'll run into a variety of them. One thing that was really stupid was saying "Something is wrong, there is a heavy unit approaching." I'M SHOOTING UP THEIR ENTIRE BASE/SHIP! Of course something is wrong!

Story: This is non existent. Seriously. Bad guys are taking over the universe. You are a killer robot. Stop them. After that... yep nothing.

Difficulty and Replay Value: You won't see any real challenge if you use the cash shop at the start. This game will be extremely hard at the start and end if you don't use it. The end game gets a lot harder with or without cash shop. This game is extremely repetitive but it keeps my interest so it is hit or miss for people. You shoot you run you rinse and repeat until you complete the 1 of 5 different objectives.

Multiplayer: Well it's an MMO... there is no PvP and I'd certainly hope so because only certain guns are worth using and are overpowered. Not to mention those who buy via cash shop would have an unfair advantage early levels.

Overall: This game is nothing special and nothing great. It's a game that will either stick to you or not. I enjoy the game so I like it but... even then my score isn't going to be biased. It's a 4 out of 10... because... well it's nothing game breaking or new... I just really enjoy being a killer robot lol.

Add to that the problem of hideously occurring environments and enemies, and you have a great looking, great sounding game which leaves me just wanting something more. I feel like the problem was that the dev team made the game, complete with assets and game logic, without asking the opinion of anyone NOT involved with the project. Were I making a passion project, and just wanted to make a butt-baby of MGS and Ninja Gaiden, this would be a visually acceptable result. However, I, personally, dont have all that much attachment to this game's visuals (well made though they may be), so the game's numerous and glaring gameplay flaws force me to give this game a 4. 1)It's the best GRINDING game, It uses dirty psychological tricks(gambling) to get you addicted and this makes a lot of people frustrated go to point 4).
2a)If you don't have any good rivens or rare mods you will see the other people destroying everything and you will can sit down and watch the match.
2b) Random is a big words considering you see really "weird" random events and generations, maybe a "conditioned random" term is more appropriate...After you roll a riven 100 times and you get only zoom ,recoil and ammo and then you realize a lot of other people get damage, multishot and critical with an unrolled riven..
3)To get some essential mods you will need a lot of grinding and time(months or years) but if you farm and sell stuff 10 hours per day(for at least 6 months) or you pay cash for platinum(thousand of dollars to get everything)... hey i am playing an action game not a TCG!
4)Very often in public games you will get really bad toxic players or totally idiots that will ruin your day.
People will give you free idiot, or whatever in their languages screaming on their mics because you don't spam energy with trinity so they can destroy everything and you just have to press the keys 2 and 4. You will get an idiot because for a bug you find yourself after a mission in a solo mission of another person. You will get a **** because you haven't disconnected from the previous squad after 5 seconds. More other hundreds of these nice episodes...
And this happened in few months...If you like these kind of persons then this is the right game for you.
    5) there is no or little information in game, you need to rely on the external wiki page made by fans. When you begin you have absolutely no idea what to do and you will waste precious resources you will need later...The fun is you will not have any idea even after months or years because often other people will complete a mission in few seconds and you will just press "w"
    to reach the extraction point.
    6) Full of bugs and after 30 minutes of mission you will get a change host and BANG! you loose the loot you were "working for".
7a) There is not an internal market system to sell or buy objects in game, you rely on the trading chat and often it's a mess and you must rely on external sites...
7b)Most of the time for the point 1) you will see absurd prices overall for rivens, 10.000 or even 20.000 plat(one of the in game currencies) , 20.000 platinum are $1000 and you can't convert plat to dollars so i don't understand(really i do but it's better if i don't write anything about...) why people ask and other buy at these prices...
    8) The gameplay becomes repetitive after few months, the only objective will be to get more powerful weapons and mods to humiliate newbies destroying everything on the map in few seconds, on the same mission you have repeated thousand(and thousand again) of times.
The PVP was the only hope but is practically dead because people love to repeat the same mission thousand an thousand of times!
The endless missions where you can test your skills are used by everyone to level their weapons and frames.. this means you can't go further.
9)The graphic and design are nice.
10a)You can play it for free if you want a new job as "tenno" 10 hours per day. If you don't have at least 8 free hours per day it's better you start to pay hundred of dollars to get the new powerful weapon, the last frame or the "god" riven mod that will make you COOL AND POWERFUL!
10b)If you are not powerful and cool enough please don't try the Sorties missions(because i am fkin tired to repeat 10 times the same mission because people has no idea what to do for the point 5) or because they try to kill 10 level 100 bombards with an unmodded pangolin sword or their brand new MK1-braton..)
11)Full of weapons! Yes there are thousand(again)of weapons!! And do you wanna know something? 99% of them are just pure crap, you will need to build them, grinding the resource to build and use them a dozen of times(no not thousand this time sorry) to upleveling your experience and to rank them! But hey it's the same crap so you need to polarize it to use your powerful mods so you will need to rank it again another dozen of times, and if a weapon need 6 forma you will do that totally hundred of times on the same mission... And All of this to discover you will make 1% of the total damage and killed 1 enemy while the other guys destroyed everything.
13)Nice for few months after that you will understand that something is wrong repeating thousand and thousand(yes thousand!) the same mission to get an useful mod or a part for something you need!

It's a such waste because this game has great potentials throwed away by extreme grinding and boring missions.
After i wasted many hours just to find hard contend, endgame or something offering a real challenge, they nerfed all the enemies to make this game just a click game using OP abilities or spamming melee most of the time.

It looks fancy and shiny, but after you get your eyes adapted to it, it becomes an endless grind.

    Gfx:
Solid. The optimization for physx sucks, but the game looks amazing without it.

    Audio:
You could say it's ok. Gun sounds are, often, allright, although most of them just lack the oomph part. Ingame music is like any other. You'll turn it off after a few hours and play your favorite playlist.
Ambient sounds, like bullet ricochets, doors, elevators, are too quiet.

    Content:
Apparently, DE thinks quantity>quality. In 2 words, power creep. It just doesn't work.
    In a lot more words,
The mod system looks intriguing and as if it offers a lot of diversity, but in reality you'll be using the same set of mods for every enemy type and every mission. Basically, there are unused useless mods and mandatory mods.
When you look at the mission map, you get the feeling you'll have to play a very long time in order to
experience everything. Wrong. each tileset can be fully experienced, and gotten sick of, within several missions.
The game offers boss fights! Awesome, right? When majority of the boss mission is running around 1shotting everything with your ubermodded weapon, and then killing a boss vastly inferior to your weapons, it's quite a meh experience.
The newly added syndicates are yet another example of quantity>quality. 10 "different" factions, that all require the player to do 1 thing : grind mindlessly and endlessly.

    Guns:
In correlation with previously mentioned power creep, there are uber awesome weapons and there are useless and unfun weapons. It's all fun and games while you're ranking up fun weapons, but run out of fun weapons and it becomes a chore worse than washing the dishes.
DE isn't doing much to remedy this issue, but rather adding more weapons hoping they'll hit the right note occasionally.

    Grind:Reward ratio
Grind's not always bad, if you reward the player. This game doesn't do that.
Currently, there are plans to reward players with a high master rank(a general progress indicator), but it's all just paper.
The newly added syndicates require such an enormous amount of farming to reach useful rewards that it's a major turn off for casual players.
RNG drops. When the gods are on your side, it's a fun night, otherwise it's pretty frustrating seeing a weapon part, that you already have 10 of, drop mission after mission.

    Multiplayer factor:
The game can be played solo, which is good but also says a lot about how much developers are investing in player to player interaction.
There's the mandatory general chat, trade chat, guild chat, group chat, friends chat. That's it sadly.
There IS a player hub planned, but seeing the previews, it's not really promising.
Clans can have their own "dojos", but they end up being large abandoned museums of someone's creativity.
Oh right, PVP. There IS pvp, but it's a sideshow, and a really bad one.

    The feel:
First couple mastery levels(namely 8) - "Cool, I'm getting these mastery levels I don't know **** about, while trying out all these fun weapons. I don't care I have no idea what they do, it's cool and awesome."
Post 8 - "Ugh, yet another **** weapon to level to get mastery up." *checks inventory and sees 20 more rank 0* "yeah, **** it."
The fact that the game is discouraging use of single equipment a player finds fun, is rather baffling.

    P2W factor:
The only mandatory platinum market purchases are inventory slots and weapon power ups, called potatoes.(they increase the mod capacity of a weapon by 100%)
Thankfully they're pretty cheap and the powerups can occasionally be gained on special mission.
Other than that, everything is attainable through farming, albeit it'll take much longer.

    Summary:
The game doesn't feel new, but it sure feels fun the first 100 hours. If you don't mind being played a fool with "new" content based on the same principle, grind, you can keep being a positive statistic on their charts.
The quite positive thing is the nearly non existent P2W factor.
Basically, if you REALLY have nothing better to play, or have a fetish for ninjas in space, this is the game you can sink your money into. If not, wait for a 50% platinum discount, buy some platinum in the worth of an average indie game, buy inventory slots and kill time. Contrary to what fanbois preach, this is NOT an AAA title.

Unfortunately, the developers have chosen grinding as a means of player retention and longevity for the game. There's tedious grind is every aspect of this game. The grind is so inherent that there are community recommended 'meta' locations and loadouts to make the grind less painful. This explains why with all the popularity and active player base it is still hard to find public squads outside those meta grinding locations and missions irrespective of region or time of day. Good luck finding squad mates for a mission whose rewards do not involve something worth a grind. There are currently only 3 prominent enemy factions with a very limited mission variety (defense, assassination, rescue, spy, survival) which makes the game feel repetitive. Some mission types can be run in endless mode with scaling difficulties but the rewards which are RNG based are awarded on a rotation basis and do not scale with the duration of the mission. So there's not enough motivation in running long endless missions.

Talking about long endless missions or endurance runs, the damage of primary and secondary weapons do not scale with the difficulty scaling with time. And there are very few frames whose ability damage scale with enemy levels. Since most endurance runs rely on dealing damage with mostly melee weapons it renders primary and secondary weapons useless beyond certain enemy levels.

The dialogues and voice acting, for the most part, is simply atrocious. I would have lost my sanity if they had not enabled shutting off Ordis in the orbiter. Except for a few NPCs - Lotus, Eudico, Konzu, Onko most interactions feel like conversing with mentally retarded characters. Even a 7 year-old would speak with more maturity than most villains in the game. Makes one wonder if they are being convicted of crimes of a past life. DE's portrayal of their dark side is so shallow that any dark elements associated with a character is imperceptible beyond what is mentioned in the codex or what Lotus tells you about them.

The only redeeming factor about this game is that there is virtually no paywall blocking any playable content. The premium currency (platinum) which can be purchased for cash can also be earned in-game using the trade system which is something one doesn't come across in most other free2play games. Also almost all grindable aspects of this game can be skipped by spending platinum aka pay2skip model.

DigitalExtremes has introduced some innovative techniques for ensuring that platinum keeps flowing in the market. There is little doubt that the unique mods - Rivens constitute the bulk of the trade transactions in terms of value. These are in-game tradeable instruments whose stats/worth is linked with the 'disposition' of the associated weapon. Officially disposition is meant to be reflective of the popularity of a weapon but lately it is being manipulated by DE as means to ensure that platinum keeps flowing in the market and so that players do not limit themselves with only a set of rivens for their favorite weapons.

There are very few avenues that keep this game engaging for veteran players. Whether it is Eidolons (arcane farming), Kuva farming or trading rivens - things start to get boring after a while and it is not uncommon to see veteran players losing interest and abandoning the game after a while.

Though DE has been releasing new content every six months or so and there are in-game Nightwave events every alternate month but their activities and goals make them feel more like the same repetitive job/chore rather than feel anything refreshing.

Overall, the RNG based rewards system together with the grind make this game a huge TimeSink, which of course, can be entirely skipped by paying with cash. The popularity and success of this game is true indicator that the Free2Play Pay2Skip model is still sustainable when most AAA game developers are shooting themselves in the foot with their Pay2Win models.

Let's start with the good things first, because this game does have a few. It's a nice idea; I've always wanted to be a ninja in deep space. The ability to craft stuff is good too, and the level design, aesthetically at least, is rather well done.

Now to the bad things, and strap yourselves in, because there are lots and lots of critical flaws.

Let's start with the aesthetic, or lack thereof; this game, even on the highest settings, looks awful. Half the time I didn't know what I was looking at.

The sound design is terrible. The guns do not feel like guns in anyway, and the voice acting is practically criminal.

The level design is linear, cramped and doesn't explore the main mechanic of the game being a ninja. Please tell me how I am supposed to be a ninja in the corridor of a spaceship? You better get used to it too, because the levels are pretty much corridor, room, corridor, room, corridor, with no variation inbetween.

On the topic of the guns, none of them have any recoil, or anything, really. There's not really much reason to use anything else other than reading the stats and deciding which of the only slightly different weapons you prefer.

The UI is probably one of the worst I've seen since ArmA II. I spent about an hour figuring out how to craft, and still to this day, I have not worked it out.

The game is far too easy. I am roughly five hours in and I still have not received anything close to a challenge. This is reinforced by the all the enemies having severe mental defects. There are two types of AI, the ones that run straight at you, and the ones that stand in the same place and shoot you.

The game also has one of the worst transaction models I've seen. You get two starting characters. Want another? Sure. £20, please. A weapon? £5.

The whole "ninja" thing is clunky and not well designed, many a time did I find myself stuck to a locker in a corridor full of enemies. Luckily for me, the enemies seem to just be using BB guns.

Warframe is bad game. Some people will say "Oh, it's still in beta, it's allowed to be bad". It's not, it's allowed to be bad if bugs are breaking it, but the core gameplay mechanics are. It's worth nothing more than to get the trading cards on Steam, and then just leaving it to rust away.

Not to mention that if you want to get to late game, there are certain items that are gatekeepers to the late game that you have to -buy- with money just to proceed into the game. Or you have to wait for them to do a livestream and MAKE a special alert for said items.

This game is good for a small time frame, but it sadly just does not hold my attention. If want to grind for items, I'll play an MMORPG that actually rewards you for something that's impactful rather than farming for a new skin of something that already exists.

    Hope this helps.

Well it is a great game... at first, the issue is it gets very boring very quickly. Repetitive levels and missions that usually consist of going to a location doing something and getting out whilst hacking everything in your path to bits as you do so. It has no real story no sense of achievement just mindless hack and slash and if that's what you look for in a game go for it, after all it is free.

First, how do you expect to get new people to enjoy the game when the tutorial is so horrible?! I've never seen a tutorial so badly done, where almost nothing is explained. Sure, you get to know to to move and kill enemies but that's it, some commands are not explained (like changing weapons, even though the tutorial *asks* you to do it, not even a "this key by default" prompt) the missions are not explained, the forge is not explained and neither are the mods. If the missions were easy to understand, it wouldn't be a problem but how you're supposed to know that, in order to capture a target (which you're ordered not to kill at any cost) you have to *shoot* it
The game is pretty, I'll give it that, it's smooth, runs well and I will admit that the slick look of the warframes and the cooperative side of it is what got me to try. The cooperative is more "free for all" than real cooperation, with people rushing in to get the goods before the others.
A big disappointment for me, and I might give it another try when the glaring flaws have been fixed.

It relies heavily on long wait times(between half a day, to three real-life days) for item crafting, RNG, and heavily diluted loot pools to extend it's life. On top of that, use of extra warframes, weapons, or companions requires slots to be purchased with real money, or to sell gear to other players for "Platinum", which is the game's premium currency purchased with real money. Going back to the RNG, this means that unless you buy Platinum yourself, you are at the mercy of RNG to give you something valuable enough for players to want, which isn't often enough. Overall if you have invested any amount of time leveling something and don't want to spend time leveling it again (which is irksome at low levels and tedious at high levels) you are forced to keep it, or delete it to make room. This can become a bother when weapons are nerfed and/or buffed seemingly at random, making a once-reliable weapon or warframe useless.

The graphics use most of the common "good" things like DoF, Motion Blur, and Bloom which can actually hinder gameplay and makes it difficult to run without a good computer. In spite of all this you will encounter areas where the textures are inconsistent. Not by any signifigantly noticeable level, but enough that it is noticeable, especially on warframes when players try to customize their colors (additional color sets require Platinum, too. And the basic selection is an off-color rainbow that can be frustrating)

The controls are what you'd expect from a third person shooter, and not worth mentioning aside from clunky parkour mechanics and melee controls being reduced to a single button press, and melee combos barely go beyond that.

The story is mostly missing in action, but seems to be slowly fleshed out over updates. However most of it seems to clash with it's own established lore and backstories so take it as you will, but don't take it seriously.

Sound is simple and satisfactory. Nothing more to say about it.

What this game is, is kind of the opposite of that, its a huge sea that is the depth of a puddle. There is nothing in this game (doesnt matter if its f2p or paid) that is worth your time, its simply the cookie clicker effect, grind so you can grind better, which is a paradox because you will never grind enough. Or you can pay money to get stuff, but for what reason?
Why buy anything in this game when it never leads to anything, it simply exists to waste your time!

It was fun at first, i played for 50 hours total, i stopped when realized that its heading nowhere.

-You see, to make a grind worth it you need to have rewards that are actually interesting and not only useful to grind better or to kill stronger enemies, which is also a stupid thing since enemies level with you, so whats the difference between killing a level 1 enemy as a level 1 player and level 200 enemy as lvl 200 player?

WoW did something cool by allowing an open world and PLAYER CONFILCT, players grinded to be stronger versus players or to be able to acquire better loot to sell to players, now that is a better reason to grind.

This game is an absolute time sink. It requires a significant investment of time, and if you want to make any real progress, money as well. This is just part of my review from my steam profile:

    One word review: Disappointing

More details: This is a game that starts off really promising. Interesting controls, large variety of weapons, numerous ways to level up and progress, seems like it has it all.
Unfortunately it crumbles under it's own weight. Numerous ways to level up turn into an extended grind game that is overwhelming. The large variety of weapons turns into a double edged sword, which requires an explanation of the mastery system.
Each weapon, warframe, and anything else you can take with you to level up has a cap of level 30. The levels that you acquire during gameplay all contribute points towards a mastery system. The mastery system caps how much progress you can make in a given day towards other aspects of the game.

There is a faction type system in a game called syndicates. The items offered by these syndicates are generally considered extremely good, and cannot be acquired any other way. The problem with this syndicate system, is that the points you can acquire each day is capped at a rather low number. Add to this problem with points that are capped universally. You may have 10000 faction points you can make in that day, but that's across ALL factions.
In certain syndicate themed missions, you can search for insignias, that you can turn in to a vendor for additional syndicate points, sometimes worth more points than the mission themselves, but there are at max 8 of these in a given mission, and it is an exhaustive search through very large missions that can sometimes border on futility. The worst part is if you decide to do these missions with other people, but they decide they don't feel like searching for all of them, and rush to the mission end point, you will be forced to end the mission after a 1 minute timer. You CANNOT replay these missions, and if it ends early, you could be out of potentially thousands of points.
Naturally I did most of these missions solo, even though the rest of the game recommends, and is designed for group play. I will add I also did Spy missions solo, as even 1 person in your group triggering an alarm, can lead to the entire group failing the mission.

The biggest problem with the mastery system, and where the game really collapses under is own weight is leveling the weapons. There are so many filler weapons in this game, that are commonly called "mastery fodder", that acquiring these mastery points becomes a chore. It takes time to level weapons, made all the worse by leveling weapons that are weak, and not fun to use. You can tell very quickly when a weapon you are using is terrible.
This is aggravated by the fact that you are limited to how many weapons, warframes, etc, that you can have in your inventory. Unless you are willing to buy premium currency, which of course costs real money, you cannot increase your inventory size. That has been an issue since the game came out years ago, along with many other issue which I will go into later.
Numerous weapons and warframes, that you might have actually liked, will be sold and discarded, all because you don't have space for them, unless you're willing to fork over a lot of money. The game gets to the point where you might be looking at hundreds of dollars of investments, if you're willing to make significant progress in this game. The day and age that we live in with steam sales, bundle packs, and numerous other sources of price discounts for quality games, makes the $50-$60 retail game almost a thing of the past. This game will be looking for much more money out of your pocket.

In addition to leveling up the weapons for mastery points, you also level these weapons for mod slot points. At level 30 you have 30 mod points to empower your weapon. The mods ALSO require leveling up, however they don't level up from use, but rather by sacrificing other mods to level them up. In addition to sacrificing mods in this process, you ALSO use up credits, which is the games fictional currency. This can be one of the most expensive parts of the game is terms of credit use. Unfortunately, the developers of the game seem to be aggressively cracking down on ways to farm credits, which in and of themselves are still excessive time sinks.
Leveling mods and farming credits are one of the longest processes in the game, however Digital Extremes is all too happy to offer ways to boost your credit income, or level up mods, for your platinum in their premium stores. I think it says enough that one of the most popular store purchases are fusion cores, which help level up your mods, at an extremely overpriced platinum amount. I want to say it was the equivalent of $5, but i could be wrong. Either way, it was still overpriced given the amount of other things Digital Extremes wants you to buy....

I had a lot of fun with the game for the first few days, so it pains me to have to write such a scathing review and score it so low. Let's start on a high note with the pros:

+Fun gameplay with a lot of different methods of customization. Modding your weapons, warframe(character), and sentinel(Pet) provides a lot of different avenues for progression.
+There are (I believe)12 warframes to pick from, though you only get access to 3 out of the box.
+You can potentially get access to all the content in the game w/o spending any money, excluding cosmetics such as colors.
+A welcoming community and a section of the forum dedicated to helping new players and gets a respectable amount of traffic

And now the low note. This is going to hurt, Warframe, but try to grit your teeth.
---If you do decide to spend money on the game, you'll find Warframe has one of the most expensive premium shops around. Buying a warframe can cost up to 25 dollars! Getting access to more than 18 colors(Not as many as it sounds) is 5$ a piece, and weapons range 5-15$!

-----After you've spent hours farming the cash and crafting mats to build a weapon or warframe, you have to wait 12-72 hours for it to finish "building". But wait! If you spend a paultry 25-50 plat(The least plat you can buy is 5$ for 70 plat, the cheapest weapons, colors, and warframes being 75 plat, btw) you can rush it to get your hard-earned buy immediately. A laughably obvious inconvenience forced on the players in order to promote buying premium currency

-The combat gets dull, after a while. The AI is pretty primitive, even for an indie game. Melee is gimmicky and with knockbacks and stuns abound, you're better off just keeping distance and picking enemies off. The game mistakes punishment for difficulty, if you're not careful it's very easy to be "stunlocked" to death, with very little you can do about it.

-Expect a Diablo-level grind. The whole game is a grind and the only goal is to grind more, all the bosses are bullet sponges with little to no difficulty, the Infected(An enemy faction) are generally the hardest enemies you will fight, and that's only because of the stunlocking mentioned above.

-Even though there are lots of options and customization, the game is plagued with balance issues. The Hek, Lex, and Dual Heat Blades will be the only weapon loadout you'll ever need. Half the cast can't even compete with other much stronger, more versatile Warframes. Health, Armor, and critical hit/damage mods are almost completely useless.

-The levels are reused constantly. It's not uncommon to play on the same level multiple times within one short gaming session.

-The handling leaves a lot to be desired. The game tries to be Assassin's Creed/Darksiders but it just doesn't have the polish things like wallrunning, sliding, and complex maneuvers need to function. Very rarely will you pull off super awesome stunts your friends will be wowed by. Once you get into the higher level content it all boils down to cover shooting because you just will not survive being in the middle of the grinder.

To sum it all up, you pay out the ass for the conveniences premium currency offers, the game gets stale and very grindy, very quickly. I've read people praising the massive updates but they apply sweeping changes that completely alter the game, keeping it in a perpetual state of imbalance.

Mindless grind shooter that can't offer any new experience for you.

All you have to do in this game is grind. Tiring.

Anything else will be dealing with people who ignore objectives, yet blame you for losses.
As an example of some of the grind, you will run across items with an official .1% drop rate in only very specific circumstances. The devs felt farming these circumstances for this astonishingly rare mods were too common, so they further limited the opportunities of this circumstances occurring.
Useless content gets taped on, and players pushed to utilize it. In a game about being a mercenary/ninja-assassin that uses 2 spaceships and a jetpack, you get pushed to learn to use a glorified skateboard. A skateboard that glitches you repeatedly into the ground, locking guns up and preventing you from continuing the mission. Meet the K-Drive, the nightmare of combat-loving players.
Now, they advertise options, but to access these options you need slots. Slots need platinum, platinum needs real $$$. Grinding for the pieces of each item in a broken rng system isn't enough, they want you to pay to use the content. Cosmetics, understandable. Core content? I'd say "May your test server crash", but the devs don't test...

You quite often see posts like 'omg performance so poor I have dual core/pentium/integrated chipset etc etc'. Horrible scaling with even decent hardware. With several enemies on screen, I with an i7 3930k 4.0Ghz,GTX-Titan see drops to 25fps. Horrible optimization. GPU usage never goes above 20%.
People say they're the best devs, but they can't even fix an annoying issue like screen shake. They're worse than Crytek in all respects.
Totally unbalanced weapons, and a weak mod system which requires begging to God and non-stop 24/7 grinding. Meleeing feels weak at best.
Solo mode spawns soo many enemies on you, and most of the smaller units stunlock you before you can move a muscle.
I am surprised at people who spent 250$ on a grand master package in which they could have easily afforded a better system. Its seriously laughable.

Amazing gameplay and graphics. But Lord o Lord it gets boring quickly. First of all, there is nothing in the game that is challenging in terms of difficulty. The loot, which we all love and cherish is uninspired and boring. It basically consists of the same weapons plans and mods with no variations to power. The game could have inspired itself from random loot generation in the likes of Diablo and Borderlands, but decided otherwise. This pretty much means everyone has the same weapons, the same mods and the same warframes which in my opinion provides no attachment to the character or sense of character uniqueness to the player. Last but not least is the cash shop. While I got a bundle at -75% steam summer sale, the normal prices are just too steep for any player. In addition, the only access to platinum (the currency used to purchase weapons and warframes directly, i.e. without crafring) is through the cash shop, contrary to some other f2p games where it is possible to gain small amount of the coveted currency through challenges or as rewards for difficult content.
All in all, it is a good game to try and the free to play model should be incentive enough to try it out. But I would not spend more time on it since its novelty wears down pretty quickly.

When I first did sink many hours into the game, I couldn't think of anything really wrong with it, since its free.

This couldn't be further away from the truth, unfortunately!

While the combat and movement is something I've never experienced before, your progress and fun gameplay comes to a grinding-halt when you are stopped dead in the tracks everytime.

Planets and story-bits are blocked away behind a tedious wall like Mastery-Ranks, requirements for junctions and waiting-lines for neccessary gear.

Literally TONS of content are locked away from you, put behind artificial progression-blockers
(need Item A to enter Planet B but to get Item A you need Component XYZ that can only be farmed at E and E is unaccessible since you need the Junction for C).

Its simply no fun to open the Wiki and siff through forums only to progress through the game.

You can waste infinitive hours doing "missions" that don't progress your game. You can then be forced into upgrading weapons that are **** just because another artificial progression-blocker requires you to do so.

The goal of aquiring the Warframes you really want is an extremely frustrating task. Bosses you killed for one sort of Frameparts, can appear again in a truly unfair form that require you to do boss-fights that are zero fun
or they are unavailable due to inaccessible Planets!

You can literally waste up to 1000 hours and not even achieve your desired loadout!
And to get to this number of wasted hours in this game, you'll start confused, lost and slapped in the face with the interface and deliberatley weird progression-system (I've never encountered a game thats so hostile for beginners. While the community is great and tries to help you where they can, the interface and "Campaign" is deliberately confusing, bad designed and unintuitive!).

Then add limited inventory-space (that can be upgraded with real money of course!) and waiting-queues for building your gear (again: Can be speed up with real money!).

You get a one. Why? For your complete disregard in combat mechanics for new players.

You completely try selling the game on the idea it's about ninja's, but then give them a fully automatic rifle, have the computer enemies fight like gears of war gods, and you have to stand there out in the open hoping to hit the target while absorbing as many bullets as possible. You may get lucky

You may get lucky by moving quick enough to hit them a few times with the sword, but by then you've already taken too much damage.

Oh the powers? Yeah they don't tell you that either, but what ACTUALLY makes you a real ninja in the game are your powers and you don't get those till later, nope it's full on pay 2 win and garbage style combat gameplay for ANYONE that tries to just jump in WITHOUT paying a dime.

Hey it's free to play! (You will not enjoy this.)

The only way you could possibly enjoy it at all is by forking out $39.99 if you really need all that, but if you're like me and just wanted to play free with your first 4 powers given to you that would've been great because ninjas were always about stealth, not stupidity.

I installed this game like everyone else that jumps in, immediately it was about everyone standing out in the open just firing out in the open like a very generic call of duty game.

If you wanted to play a game with better fighting mechanics you could've always just picked up some assassin creed games and enjoyed that.

I gave this 1 for the fact you can make the so called "ninjas" look good, but they don't actually "play well" when you use them for combat. You are not ninja.

To any of those people giving "10's" left and right you need to shut up, it's free go try it out!

No I'd rather go play Path of Exile, or even D3 rather then have one more second of painful agonizing torment of terrible "ninja wanna be's" flooding the internet's over done free 2 play- I mean pay 2 win gaming market.

I downloaded it off steam just like the rest of you people, you aren't fooling anyone, it's a joke of combat mechanics and you know it. I have no lag, no movement issues except for the fact you cannot dodge, evade, or move fluent enough through the game to actually get any value out of it even if you DID end up paying a crap ton of cash cause even then those 4 powers you use are limited to some sort of resource that expires too quickly in mid combat.

You get a "1" for "good looks" because that's about all there is.

Warframe is a shockingly polished free-to-play action game that boasts great visuals, gameplay, and replay value. Unfortunately, grinding and odd design choices bog down the late-game experience.

Play Warframe. Play it for more than a few hours, preferably with friends, and keep an open mind into doing some third-party research to straighten out some of these systems. Warframe takes so much of what makes ARPG’s addictive, and rounds it out with more polish and depth than most its competitors on the current games market. If the hooks aren’t deeply embedded by then, maybe something this in-depth isn’t for you.
