    this game is awesome and all but it does not matter if you cant play because of its INGAME downloading witch raises your PING and PacketLoss every time you see a tank with marketplace CAMO in every match there is.

    I stopped playing the game 3 weeks ago. Now the community is rebelling about the abusive economy. I think it goes further than just the economy, the research, the gameplay, the lack of game modes and innovation. There is much more that has not evolved in the right direction. I hope Gaijin will start to talk with the community and find I way, but I am not optimistic knowing the way theyI stopped playing the game 3 weeks ago.     Why I can recommend it? Just try the game it is free.

    Be aware that if you want to play top tier planes, tanks or boats this game might not make you happy. The way to get there is incredibly long and the balancing is not very polished (Usually a re-balance of OP stuff leads to a new long unbalanced time period with new OP stuff).

    As others have said in their reviews you can still have fun with this game, especially at lower tiers.    … Expand

    This game is very much a love hate relationship with me since it's beta. On one hand you have good and unique gameplay designing with vehicles not seen in other games. It has plenty of vehicles, modes, and ways you could enjoy it...

    Then there is the other hand. The game is very unbalanced using the guise of 'realism'. The economy is complete and udder trash tier.     Then there is the other hand. The game is very unbalanced using the guise of 'realism'. The economy is complete and udder trash tier. You lose money per match the higher tiers you go even if you're an average or decent player because they include repair costs without the payout to recover those losses. The ability to max out one tree for one faction for one vehicle type can take thousands of hours because of low rewards or the outright punishment of losing money per match.

    Then there is the elephant in the room. The devs are some of the pettiest people I've seen in gaming. Gaslighting and blaming the community when they're finally fed up with bad practices that has been happening for years. Removing negative posts or constructive critisism on their forums and ignoring other means of communication. So petty they removed the steam logo from their website because of the bad reviews from people fed up with their stuff.

    I wrote my original negative review on steam around 2018 calling out these bad practices and finally people are waking up to it after recent controversies. Nice to have you guys finally on board. Don't get complacent and let Gaijin know that their practices are no longer acceptable. Don't stop at a small step to 'fix' the economy, demand them balance the game, fix the bugs, and finally listen to the people who actually give a crap.

    The game gets a 1/10 until the problems are fixed and that 1 is just because there is a good game under the hood of a destroyed economy.    … Expand

The greedy developers ruined the economy and charged too much for repair costs in a pathetic attempt to get players to buy MTX. I've deleted it back in early June, but I've decided to give it another chance after the developers claimed they will be improving the economy.     The last update with the new economy (VERY invasive by the way) only activated an avalanche of rage from people - who have been struggling with the economy of this game for years - for years the economy has been worsened to force people to buy a premium account.

    Gaijin should be ashamed, apologize and improve the economy of the game immediately - preferably by removing the cost of vehicle repairs - that would probably be enough.

    It is a great pity that such a situation has occurred, because the game itself is unique, there is simply no other such game with such mechanics.    … Expand

    - TOO MANY HACKERS - Top tier has too many cheaters especially since the Asia server shut down. I have found 6 aimbot+wallhackers (confirmed via replay from their perspective) in just a week of playing at top tier! And the worst part is that I reported them in every way possible weeks ago. Their accounts are still up.
    - RUSSIAN BIAS - The devs are russian, and as a result, russian tanks    - TOO MANY HACKERS - Top tier has too many cheaters especially since the Asia server shut down.     - RUSSIAN BIAS - The devs are russian, and as a result, russian tanks are insanely overpowered at almost every level of the game. NATO tanks don't get their correct armor and are often 10+ years older than the Russian counterparts. Don't bother playing top tier if russia is not generally on your team.
    - ANTI FRANCE ITALY BIAS - One of their wives must have cheated on them with a french-italian man, because these two nations are gimped in incredibly petty ways that make them pure pain to play especially at high-top tier.

    The only good things about the game are the damage models and how accurate the tanks are VISUALLY compared to real life (performance vs IRL depends on the devs' feelings about the nation)    … Expand

    What's the Point Of Grinding when You can just Buy Top tier vehicles for 60 Dollars? The Game Tries to make you spend money on it at every turn. If you want to Grind the Game Without Buying Premiums It might take years to do 1 Tech tree. And if you do Buy Premium you can only hope The Developers won't Nerf it to the ground for it to be Unusable.

    Imagine a company that cared so little about their players that it seemed like they were doing the opposite of what the community wanted 99% of the time. When the community began to give negative reviews on Steam they were removed. War Thunder takes greed to a new level. Do not play this game.

    I played this game since closed beta testing and was loving it. However, I stopped playing some time ago because the economy was getting worse and worse, and grind got unbearable even with premium account and premium vehicles.
    I hope they introduce some positive changes but, as they were decreasing rewards for couple of years already, I don't see it coming.

Grind is UNFATHOMABLY long. 1700+ hours and I have top tier in a SINGLE TECH TREE on a single nation, only using premium time without premium vehicles. Took about 700 hours to do so. The game is only ever advertised with modern vehicles, yet the time sinks to reach them are a complete joke.     The curent state of the war thunder economy has made me leave a negative review .Basicly if you don t buy premium rime or don t have a 3+ k/d ration you will be losing silver lions after generaly playing vehicle after late ww2

    Do not go into the game as a new player, you will have fun for the first bit but eventually you will get slammed into a brick wall. This game could be fun but until the company decides to retract it's predatory methods, AVOID AT ALL COST.
    Currently, there is a boycott on May 26th, 2023. it is encouraged to not play on that day and after until something is done. Change can happen.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I switched to this game from World of Tanks because of greedy upcoming changes that hurt the game substantially and the big RNG factor. It was quite refreshing to try War Thunder and I quickly fell in love with the game, probably mostly because I couldn’t yet grasp the scope of economic **** going on with Gaijin. I purchased some premium vehicles as well as premium account and processed quickly through the lower ranks. The higher I got them and the more I learned about the game on Reddit made it clear that Gaijin is just as bad as Wargaming. It’s sad to see game developers resort to milking the player base when creating a good game would probably ensure more new players in the long run and more revenue for a longer period of time.… Expand

    It doesn't matter if it is the economy, matchmaking, maps, vehicles or modules (I just say Free Parts & FPE). The recent events show how bad that situation is.

    I have over 1000 hours in this game, so I'm certified to say that war thunder is almost a really fun game to play. The problem is the "almost" because Gaijin seems to do everything in their power to milk the players dry for money every way they can, from lowering sl rewards for players to making the grind take actual years to finish.     I've been playing this game for over 3 years now. I only play Enduring confrontation in Air Simulation mode. Because it is more real and you can only fly from cockpit view, making it harder to kill other players by just point and click skilless shots.

    Over the last year and a half Gaijin has made it progressively worse to be able to advance in the game. Instead of fixing the bug that    I've been playing this game for over 3 years now. I only play Enduring confrontation in Air Simulation mode. Because it is more real and you can only fly from cockpit view, making it harder to kill other players by just point and click skilless shots.

    Over the last year and a half Gaijin has made it progressively worse to be able to advance in the game. Instead of fixing the bug that farmers exploit they raise repair cost, take away RP rewards while at the same time making it that you can only play high tier with premium vehicles and premium account in realistic mode (which is purely a mouse point and click mode).

    Further more, ALL the vehicles have some kind of bug or problem, VR still has lots of bugs and it doesn't matter how much you report it the don't fit it.

    It seems Gaijin does not to care about making the players happy. I'm 37 years old with wife and kids, if spent over $1500 in this game. Most people don't have infinite amounts of time in their life to grind, we just want to enjoy the game and play for a little bit.

    Gaijin STOP BEING GREEDY FIX THE ECONOMY, MAKE SIM MODE MATCH EC AND AB SL AND RP GAINS....FIX THE EXPLOITS!

    to the point where grinding out a full tech tree within a year is difficult. and that's for the people who spend money on fancy tanks with high multipliers. I try to enjoy this game but that's hard to do nowadays with how the have the economy. I no longer can just unlock stuff by playing    this game is no longer about enjoyment or fun, it's just purely about profits. things have gotten bad
    to the point where grinding out a full tech tree within a year is difficult. and that's for the people who spend money on fancy tanks with high multipliers.     The developers are doing their absolute best to make f2p players quit the game. The economy sucks, a lot of bugs aren't fixed despite many bug reports from players and if this isn't enough some premium vehicles are much better than their tech tree counterparts. My advice is don't waste your time and go play something else.

    Cute, but no. The game will lose players right when it stops providing enough of regular non-premium currency to enjoy playing the vehicles they EARNED by playing. The player is punished for sinking the time into earning a higher tiered vehicle and will have to play each match with this vehicle in looming anxiety over underperforming in a match and losing money. When enough of those bad matches happen where the player loses in-game money instead of earning it they will be pretty much blocked from playing that specific vehicle because the earnings will never outweigh the repair costs.

    And when do the earnings outweigh the repair costs? When you purchase a premium vehicle. Don't fall for the blatantly corporate-speech written blog posts providing you with reasons defending why you can't play matches with your Abrams or F-14 for several days.

    The audacity of Gaijin to teach us what it means to progress in a F2P game. Gaijin spits in your face and expects you to take it like a little **** and kiss their feet for it.

    If you value your time invested in a game and expect it to respect that time don't even bother installing this. This may have once been the best game in its genre but those days are long gone, stomped by greed and disrespect into the ground. Gaijin doesn't deserve your time, let alone your money.    … Expand

    While it is fun to collect rare and valuable vehicles, it requires an abhorrent amount of time and effort to complete seasonal challenges to get them.    One of the most frustrating and simultaneously "satisfying" games I've ever played. The grind in this supposed free-to-play game starts around rank III vehicles and the RP (Research Points) and SL (Silver Lion) costs skyrocket from there.

    While it is fun to collect rare and valuable vehicles, it requires an abhorrent amount of time and effort to complete seasonal challenges to get them. The requirements for these seasonal challenges and events increases in difficulty each year.

    The playerbase is incredibly toxic and hostile, no-doubt caused by the frustrating grind and "cheesy" tactics and vehicles used by some players. Gaijin sells vehicles and offers nations, on a rotating basis, overpowered aircraft and tanks, nerfing them after sales slump to appease the complaints of the playerbase.

    Overall, I would NOT recommend this game to anyone until Gaijin becomes a more customer-focused business and introduces fun into their game.

    * EDIT 05/18/2023: This game is still terrible, don't play it and waste your time or money. Gaijin doesn't care about its playerbase, and it never has.     I've played the game since 2016 and it was fun then now gaijin can go to hell with the economy nerfs, make the game fun again. Remember brothers no GE, no Premium and make the servers dead on 26th of May.

    It's been killed by the devs and their greed. Do not even try it, it's not worth it at all. You can spends hundreds of dollars and they still treat you like a pile of unwanted crap. Not only is it not free to play, now it is starting to not be pay to play either. It's more like pay to get tortured.

    I put 1.991 hours into this game and I can't recommend it to anyone. Even if I hate them with ever fiber of my body I cannot recommend this game. There are so many unbalancing issues and economy issues to list. The only good thing this game has going for is the visuals and that is it. Poor customer service, and updates have eroded the community's confidence that the game will be improved, or continue to be supported.     I dont wanna make a negative review on warthunder but they make the game worse, it used to be fun in the past if you kill 3 tanks you will get 1k rp but now it got nerfed so much you need to kill atleast 5 tanks to make 1k rp and if you make a mistake then say goodbye to your silver lion
    Btw, download this game is a huge mistake I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT

    I don't play anything else than ground battles so if you are a tank enjoyer wishing to take part in TANK VS TANK fights then don't play this game. It is absolutely f-ed by planes giving, in 95% of the occurrences, 0 chances for tank players to survive. Planes are ridiculously easy to spawn with, very often you see players taking a very fast low tier tank, cap a point and get an assist andI don't play anything else than ground battles so if you are a tank enjoyer wishing to take part in TANK VS TANK fights then don't play this game. It is absolutely f-ed by planes giving, in 95% of the occurrences, 0 chances for tank players to survive. Planes are ridiculously easy to spawn with, very often you see players taking a very fast low tier tank, cap a point and get an assist and voilà, thy spawn in a ridiculously overpowered bomber ready to nuke half your team. And if you have the displeasure of killing a player with planes, be sure that 100% of the time you're the main target. It doesn't matter if they dive and just die after killing you ; it doesn't matter if there are lightly armored tanks nearby, you showed them you're more skilled on the ground, well they will **** you up from the sky where you can just cry about it and go back to the garage. GROUND REALISTIC BATTLES are cancerous because of these planes that ruin the entire experience, and there is nothing you can od about it. It is the same at every stage of the game, whether you have low tier vehicles or modern ones fighting on the ground against jets that have missiles that can lock on to your vehicle from kilometers away, without you even beginning to consider that a plane is aiming at you. And I won't even begin to talk about long-ranged drones...This game is worth nothing, and especially not your time. Go play WoT, at least you can fight ground targets there.… Expand

    O jogo tem o potencial pra ser o melhor jogo de guerra, mas o jogo é muito chato, a progressão é muito lenta e não te incentiva a continuar jogando, quanto mais você consegue progredir e librar mais veículos, mais chato vai ficando o jogo, basicamente os únicos 2 objetivos nas partidas são capturar pontos e destruir todo o time inimigo, não tem nenhuma maneira alternativa de progredir comoO jogo tem o potencial pra ser o melhor jogo de guerra, mas o jogo é muito chato, a progressão é muito lenta e não te incentiva a continuar jogando, quanto mais você consegue progredir e librar mais veículos, mais chato vai ficando o jogo, basicamente os únicos 2 objetivos nas partidas são capturar pontos e destruir todo o time inimigo, não tem nenhuma maneira alternativa de progredir como fazer algum objetivo secundário, tem modos de jogo PVE, mão são igualmente horríveis de jogar, de tanque vem ondas IMENSAS de tanques inimigos de todos os lados vc basicamente não consegue cobertura e fica morrendo tanto que quando vc ganha a partida(se vc tiver essa sorte) o preço que vc pagou pela reparação dos tanques é o valor q vc ganha no fim da partia, vc basicamente paga pra jogar essa porcaria de jogo… Expand

    One of the cornerstones of War Thunder is that player’s skill is more important than his wallet. Premium vehicles offer no combat advantages, there is no “microtransaction-only” ammo or consumables, so no amount of cash will buy you a spot on the top of the food chain. [Issue#216, p.56]

    The official launch of War Thunder reminded me why I like this game so much. It's adorably chaotic - in contrast to the reliably designed World of Tanks. That's why it can be really fun and frustrating at the same time. There's tons of great vehicles (and the planes are superb!) and a difficult simulation mode, but there are also balance and technical issues.
