    I’ll be honest. On first viewing, Valorant did not appeal to me. Based on early trailers, it came across as a bland mix of several games and genres that had been done to death. I’d played Counter Strike: Source back in the day and liked it, but felt the gameplay was outdated before Global Offensive had even released: therefore watching trailers for Riot Game’s latest title didn’t sparkI’ll be honest. On first viewing, Valorant did not appeal to me. Based on early trailers, it came across as a bland mix of several games and genres that had been done to death. I’d played Counter Strike: Source back in the day and liked it, but felt the gameplay was outdated before Global Offensive had even released: therefore watching trailers for Riot Game’s latest title didn’t spark anything in me. Fast forward a month, and I’m extremely happy to say that I’m completely sold on Valorant. It’s not the most innovative or original game on the market, but it’s an easy contender for my 2020 Game of the Year for its smooth, tactical co-op gameplay.
    Being a successful shooter in 2020 means competing with the growing, saturated market of Battle Royale games. Valorant knows what it is: its unabashedly a game that takes inspiration from Apex Legends, Overwatch and Counter Strike, and it’s not shy of being compared to its predecessors. It’s a perfect mix of games, and Riot Games are geniuses at this: League of Legends was heavily inspired from Dota (a mod originally from Warcraft III), and crafted into a polished, AAA game with addictive mechanics. Riot know how to make a damn good game, and a game that anyone can play. It’s free to play, with in-game purchases (skins). Just about any PC can run Valorant. The game performs like a dream, although the occasional FPS drops at the beginning of rounds can be slightly frustrating.
    Where Valorant really separates itself from other FPS games like Call of Duty or Overwatch, is that although players of any skill level can play or contribute to their team, Valorant is difficult. This is a key thing to know about Valorant. It has a high skill-cap which may not appeal to casual gamers or mon-fps fans. You can’t go into games and run-and-gun, the game can actually be quite stressful when your entire team is relying on you. Therefore, a good player will always be more beneficial to the team, and the better team will always win, which is where the fun really comes from. It rewards skill, which often multiplayer games ignore. Yet, Riot are aware of the difficulty and allow each of the 11 classes unique abilities that can aid the team. If you’re not a confident shooter, choosing Sova (the scouting class) is a solid option. Raze, one of the more offensive classes appeals to aggressive players, as all her abilities are offensive and are directed as causing high damage. I personally find some of the heroes slightly obnoxious in their delivery, yet the varied cast suit the game well and also appeal to younger audiences. The inclusion of class abilities in the “search and destroy” style game-mode, means the game is accessible to almost any gamer. There is also Spike Rush, which is a short, 10 minute game mode which provides a short, sweet version of the traditional game mode. It’s fun, but rarely provides the same level of satisfaction as the main game mode can.
    One of the biggest technical achievements within Valorant is how balanced and varied the abilities are, ranging from generic flashbangs and smoke to Reyna’s “Empress” ultimate which turns her into an unkillable machine, with increased fire-rate and reload speed, or Omen’s ultimate which hides the mini-map. The game’s balance is remarkable, and kudos to Riot for achieving it with such a whacky mix of heroes. Perhaps going forward the game could introduce new game modes, even potentially a battle royale mode. I imagine the skill-based gameplay would work quite well in a competitive BR mode version.
    The moment to moment gameplay is all about patience, and coordination. Playing this game with friends is therefore ideal, using voice comms allows players to assist each other in scenarios. Players are often rewarded for not rushing mindlessly, instead choosing their time to strike. One of the best parts of Valorant is how it truly feels like an e-sport, even in an un-ranked mode. Each round the players are given a fresh start, and with that comes new tactics, new ways to defend or attack. The game - on paper - should be repetitive, yet instead it’s highly addictive due to the desire to win, resulting in one of the most satisfying shooters I’ve played for years. You rarely feel cheated, unlike in Call Of Duty, where low health, coupled by overpowered killstreaks can provide a source of frustration. After coming from mindless multiplayer shooters, Valorant is a pleasant change of pace. It’s important for a game to be fun, above all else. After a long day at work, often gamers just seek 30 minutes of pleasure: games like Red Dead Redemption 2, although impressive and far more ambitious, often feel like chores, but Valorant is an easy game to pick up and play.    … Expand

    Although I was never a fan of S&D type FPS modes, this hero-stylized variant seems to have resonated with me, and I quite enjoy it.

    This game has a lot of characters, so I love it like Legend of League. Btw, this game is still laggy when I'm playing Idk why but I think these days, there were a lot of players so their servers cant carry that. I know this game has the new topic for u guys but don't think this game is less interesting than csgo or any FPS game.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The game play just feels so nice! I don't care if vanguard is intrusive, because the game it self its actually really good. The thing i most liked is that it basically runs in every PC, even my 10 year old Intel Celeron PC.

    This is a Nice FPS Competitive game, it adds new aspects to the cs:go format of play. The abilities from the characters are game changing and are very fun to use. The weapons are different but works the same way of the classic ones, it's totally playable

    The game is entertaining, easy to learn in certain aspects and picturesque, I like anti-cheating to be "invasive" because it is the only way to get some security.
    The bad, I always mention two points and these are super important for a shooter. The sound is quite poor, there is a lot of echo throughout the map with the steps of the characters, it is    First we go with the good.

"3D processing" of the audio is not felt either, making it difficult to know if an enemy is behind a very close wall or within a few meters.

    The AIM is the other important point, coming from a shooter like the CSGO that forces you to learn the pattern of weapons or the penalty with movement and the famous PreAIM, in Valorant we find that weapons do not have a unique pattern anymore that it changes constantly or rather is random which makes it difficult to learn or the other points mentioned above.    … Expand

    Great game with alot of potential, only reason why I give an 10 even tho they are still balancing the game and perfecting it is because they are doing something to keep cheaters out of the way ( I don't mind having an evasive anti-cheat running in my computer for that!)
    Second reason, they do listen to the community and work to maintain it, unlike valve who takes a **** on their players. Above all, I really liked the rithym imposed to both teams, having the same guns each side and exploring the creativity of each player each round.     So I was fortunate enough to make it into the closed beta and play throughout the entire beta. First things first is it's a skill based shooter, if you're bad at csgo and you don't want to practice to get better then you're going to hate this game. Now it also has abilities!!! WOW it's actually quite refreshing! Better with friends too. Well some heroes are pretty strong but a shot to the head takes anyone out, and some people are upset about vanguard (with just reason) but it's no different from battleeye or easy bear and you can close it when you're not playing valorant anyways. Free is fun, get good and spend at least 15-30 minutes in the practice range for heaven's sake.… Expand

The game is so different of any game i play... yes its like a son of league of legends and csgo, but you must be blind to say "valorant is a clon of csgo" for the next reasons i say that the game is so diferent: first of all, the abilities are so important in every round, if a team is not playng using the habilites, that team will lost Second of all: the gameplay is so different in every round, in the first round, we play slow, but in the second, is so frenetic
    Thirt point: the abilities are buyables changin everything you know about csgo and his shop
    And, the last one: the COMUNITY, everyone who play csgo will understand and its imposible hack valoran but in csgo its imposible to play and cant find a hacker

Imagine playing CS:GO and **** that it isn't a run and gun game. The art is intentionally minimalist to keep the competitive integrity and so far the gunplay is excellent.     so my main problem with valorant is since the update before launch. turkish servers, people in turkish servers dont speak anything else except turk 9 out of 10 times. it was much better when I played on other servers. people knew how to speak english they were doing teamwork etc, and the can be simple fix server selector whether you want to play on american turk.... most games have thatso my main problem with valorant is since the update before launch. turkish servers, people in turkish servers dont speak anything else except turk 9 out of 10 times. it was much better when I played on other servers. people knew how to speak english they were doing teamwork etc, and the can be simple fix server selector whether you want to play on american turk.... most games have that even mobile ones. and there is anther bug it shows that I have 40 ping on my pc but in my friends pcs it shows that I have 200 ping (which is the correct one) and my shots dont register, I have noticed that so its not much of a problem for me but I imagine that it can dismotivate lot of people, lack of content at launch just: just 4 maps and 11 agents but that isnt much of a problem becouse devs are updating the game regularly. it has much lower skill cap than csgo, you have to learn recoil for 7 bullets and rest is random but you can learn to control even that which is nearly same for rest of the guns, easy to use abilitys, good for new players but it puts skillcap as well unlike smokes in csgo I get it that valorant is getting to be something diffrent but if you when you master shooting you have to use brain unlike other games combined. and there are the things that valorant does right most important of all anticheat is very good unlike csgo and stuff that I heard from overwatch tf2. graphics are good and is regularly updated and isnt pay to win or encourage gambling or microtransactions lootboxes... nice game overall riot but add server selector or I will probably stop playing valorant, lot of my friends have left because of that and I imagine its not just my friends and keep adding content (mostly maps), and I hope that this game becomes something better example of a good game unlike csgo without any significant update and gambling.… Expand

    Comparisons to csgo are always made when discussing new competitive shooters. Although Valorant is very similar, many aspects of the game are great with only minor problems hurting it from being a 10.

    Hero Abilities
    -For the most part I feel that most characters are fairly balanced except for Raze and Reyna. I've never felt as if I lost because of a **** ability but rather I died due to a poor play from me.
    -Omen needs a buff. Teleport shouldn't make a sound at all. It really just ruins his character because when the sound goes off everyone knows where you're at. I rather have it where you know he has ult, Omen ults, No one hears it, he gets a pick then the communication on the other team has to call out he teleported.
    -Jett needs more consistency with right click on the ult. Too many times have I been standing still and no knives hit.

    Pacing
    -Reviews saying the game is boring are wrong. It's only boring because of your play style. If you want fast paced gameplay, coordinate with the team then fully rush a site.

    Economy
    -Definitely needs to be less rewarding. If you save for 3 rounds at the start you will have full armor + vandal for the rest of the half even if you're losing.

    Loot Boxes (Contentious Topic)
    -In my own opinion loot boxes makes shooters thrive if it's purely cosmetic. I don't like the idea that I buy an axe for $35 that half the population has also. Doesn't feel unique versus pure rng giving you a specific float for a rare gun/knife.
    -They need to open up a marketplace if the idea above is implemented because the game will grow in popularity if the people can get more out of the game other then just ranking or buying generic skins that look as if they were made by a 10 year old.    … Expand

    It has very dynamic gameplay and the all the agents' personalities are very unique. I think Valorant will eventually be more successful than CS:GO, and eventually gain a big audience in the esports scene.

    3 bad things about Valorant:
    1. When they full released the game, it still felt very unbalanced and unfinished. It felt like the game was not yet ready to be fully released.

    2. The ranked system. The matches do not ever look at the guns and playstyle that people are using. Valorant is supposed to be a tactical 'stop and shoot' game, but newer players tend to use shotguns and the LMG's, and they think that they are amazing with the no skill 'run and gun' weapons. Riot should have a system to see how each player plays.

    3. This one is just a joke, but... Sage has an accent but Jett doesn't? WHAT?????
    They're both asian?!?!?!?!

    Overall, I think valorant is a good game, just unfinished. Also the skin prices are insannnneeeeeeee    … Expand

    Their cosmetic items are way too expensive. To buy one skin on a gun is more than $20. No reason to be that expensive and it actually leads people not to play because they come off money hungry. That’s why I give it a 8. But other than that INCREDIBLE game! Great gameplay and would recommend playing it!

    I'm playing Counter-Strike since 2004. I was a bit scaptical about this game. You can see the other players through the wall? No chance for me that i will play that game. But i was suprised. The game is well balanced and there is nothing unfair. There where some bugs and glitches at the release but riot is really trying to fix them. The only thing I criticize are the skins. But i was suprised. The game is well balanced and there is nothing unfair. There where some bugs and glitches at the release but riot is really trying to fix them. The only thing I criticize are the skins. In my opinion they are not looking good and are way to expensive. Sure it is a free to play shooter but 21,- for a single skin? Or 100,- for a skinset that didn't fit into the game. But that's ok for me.… Expand

    me parece un buen juego, cuenta con buenos personajes y, sobre todo, buenos mapas, eso si, me gustaría que hubieran mas mapas, como personajes, pero lo ultimo puede esperar, puesto que todas temporadas sale uno nuevo.

    After 3 months of playing Valorant, 428 games (spread over the game modes, mostly competitive and unrated), I can certainly say I enjoy the game, I am hugely biased but I enjoy the game a lot, the abilities, the characters, the anticheat, , the comunication the devs give, the frequent updates, everything is good imo exept one thing, the maps, 4 maps in the game, all of them are defenderAfter 3 months of playing Valorant, 428 games (spread over the game modes, mostly competitive and unrated), I can certainly say I enjoy the game, I am hugely biased but I enjoy the game a lot, the abilities, the characters, the anticheat, , the comunication the devs give, the frequent updates, everything is good imo exept one thing, the maps, 4 maps in the game, all of them are defender sided, some more or less but Split, and Ascent are VERY defender sided, with haven and bind giving the attackers a chance.… Expand

Unlike in Apex Legends (another shooter with abilities), you can use Bloodhound, Octane, Seer, Caustic, Horizon, and etc and within 3-5 games you can use their kit on the same level as an average player. You can't do that in Valorant. It takes time.

    2.) The gunplay also. Again it is not the best but it's hard to learn how to one tap headshot someone that I depend on spraying a lot of times and it is not going well.

    3.) The system before you can get to ranked is also great. You need 10 wins so by the time you get those 10 wins you actually have an idea how to play the game. The rank points depend on how you fit the MMR, your performance, and if you win or lose. Even if you win but performed poorly you could only get +12 while your teammate that performed well could get +30 and even if you lose but performed well you could only get -6 but your teammates who performed poorly could get -23. It works well.

    The skill gap of the game is high. This game is gonna be the king of FPS games for years. I am really having fun learning the game right now.

    Great overall, I just hate how when you have to get off of the game immediately, you get a punishment because you have to go. It doesn't make any sense! I am trying to literally play my game, but if I have to get off, I have to abandon my team. Riot should allow you to leave without any punishment AT ALL.     This game is amazingly well made,the devs are actually trying to fix genuine problems and the gunplay pretty. The skill ceiling is absurdly high which isnt always a bad thing.The agents feel diffrent and all have a very unique personality which really attaches you, despite this being a high skill ceiling game, it's by far the most digestable tac shooter

    The game really fell off since release, however it's still a really enjoyable gaming experience for FPS enjoyers. The community is extremely toxic, especially in lower ranks that are filled with teenagers yelling slurs at you. Also not really fun if you have a high pitched/feminine sounding voice.

    Game is very fun. Tons of agents, modes, and yearly events, though you can buy stuff to get better equipment for the agents. It's good, not going to lie, it's just that if you suck at FPS games, you're going be called bad and the toxic players hold this game back. From personal experience, this game is good, probably the best thing riot has released.

    Valorant has a high-quality and clean release without any problems. The game will definitely please fans of the competitive FPS genre. The eSports potential of the shooter has only become established over time, and the first tournaments are already planned. However, a high entry threshold requires serious skill training. But this only makes the game more interesting.

    Overall, Valorant is a great game to play if you're a fan of first-person shooter strategy games. But it is also something that someone without experience with games like CS:GO can enjoy and pick up quickly. The Agents are, for the most part, balanced, and the planned addition of more should keep the game fresh. The overall style doesn't really land and the sound design needs to be fixed.
