the matchmaking is so bad it ruins the whole experience, and it makes me hate the game, which is sad because it could be a great team based-fps. The patches doesn't work either.

The Problem is, that it has the Ambition to be a skillful tactic shooter, what actually happens the most time however is pure luck. In your typical 5 vs 5 Game everything is important. Your position, the position of Gadgets, the Gadgets itself ( so which Operator you chose). But ultimately its just pure luck. I have seen people randomly shooting through walls and giving you a headshot. People who throw grenades or c4 randomly somewhere and killing you. But that is not a Problem of the Game.

Because the Game itself has been improved a bit. But still. Loading Bugs. One Person is on the Desktop while loading and everyone is stuck in the loading screen. Matchmaking is awful. Either you are alone or in a full squad or you can wait forever to get into a Game. Very much glitching through walls while lying on the ground and getting shot through an indestructible Wall. Holes that arent holes and you thow a grenade against an invisible Wall.

And finally. It is kind of true. It is not as casual as CoD or Battlefield. Which doesnt mean that People are prevented from that Gameplay. It happens a lot, that Defenders just screw at everything run out and either shoot you at your spawn or run towards you outside and shoot everyone because no one saw that coming. And then claim they got an Ace and we are noobs. And what is their penalty? Being constantly spotted. Thats all. Instead of giving them 10 seconds and the will be killed, no they are spotted and thats it.

Or even better. My Squad is playing a lot of this game. We are playing it every Day and still have fun even if it is kind of repetitive. But the most unbelievable thing that happens, is that there are still Trolls that shoot their own teammates at spawn. Or better the whole team is fighting and insult each other leading to even more teamkills. ( was a funny Game though)

All in all, the game sure has its moments. But the fact that it is a casual version of Rainbow Six, the lack of Game modes and the kind of irritating Gameplay decisions are often annoying. And of course dont forget Uplay. A fun but average Shooter.

Probably my favorite online shooter that came out in 2015. Has a similar feel of Counter Strike mixed with some Battlefield. I would rate this much higher than an 8 if it wasn't for some bugs and server issues. (Seriously they should let us host our own servers).

But the gameplay and map designs are solid. Kudos Ubi, you made a game I am willing to buy from you.

The game has a good concept, a medium delivery, and a good core, but it doesn't meet most expectations. The game was better during the E3 Demo, hence when you buy the game, everything is more limited than shown in the gameplay demo. Long story short: Good Concept, and Medium Standard, but could've been a lot better than it's given potential. Medium wedge on the 60$ Value.

The lack of a single player campaign is not a bad thing, with many titles, it's a good thing.

RB6 Siege offers a great gaming experience (disclaimer: I have never played another RB6 game) with great graphics, sound effects and even HD textures. This is just the shell of the game offering far more than that.
Gameplay: It is a attackers-/defenders game with a few scenarios: hostage, bio hazard seizure, bomb disarming. Both sides undergo a prep phase (t = 30 s), during which attackers try to find the objective and locate enemies with motorized ground drones and defenders need to find a defending strategy using different gadgets. No round will be the same, since your tactics will vary because of ever changing objective spots and different operators (see below). Another variable is the destructible environment around you. Walls or floors can be blown up, smashed or shot through. Effects for destruction are top notch!
Operators: Represented are five nations' special forces (France, USA, GB, Russia, Germany). Herein are 4 unlockable operators each. 2 defenders, 2 attackers, 20 in total. They feature different skills and specifics, which brings much variety to the game. Every operator has any operator specific weapon available from the start on! YOU can choose which reticle or other attachment you want to unlock against progression points.
Progression: You can earn easy points via singleplayer and watching introductional videos. The harder earned but higher rewarded points you will collect via multiplayer. And here is the only downside I see so far: You also can buy XP boosters against real money. This is not directly corrupting, but it has a certain taste to it.
The ugly: You don't have a server browser. It is matchmaking. Most of the time it works properly, but I prefer a browser where you can change your preferences. Now you are bound to the "casual" game style until operator level 20, after which you will be able to play "ranked" to earn more XP. The thing is, that even after level 20 you are able to play "casual", which leads to people on lvl 80+ to bash noobs in "casual".
Another issue is the ping fidelity. Synchronization does not seem to work properly all the time, which leads to many deaths resulting from latency. This is annoying, since you have to wait for the round to end after you die.
Bottom line: I enjoy the game a lot. I've been playing for around 10 hours and I already got 14/20 operators with the inventory of my choosing. This seems to be one of the best features, which games like Battlefield or CoD don't seem to want to implement.
I'd rather skip the part of giving points, but metacritic works like that, so I'm guessing 5/7 (let's see, who gets it).

The game play was the central focus and plays out very well. All mechanics are fluid and intuitive, as well as the games various modes fit well into the team strategy they were aiming for. With a team full of players contributing and devising strategies this game offers something nothing else can. An immersive very tactical feeling shooter. The only cons I have were the servers had some issues (now fixed) and I wish the classes were more unique. I seem to play the same 4-5 continuously.

If you were waiting for something with a more strategy but as fun as battlefield you better grab this (on sale because in Canada its 80$ which is too much for any game...)

When I finally think I'm getting somewhere and the game loads the Multiplayer starts crashing after joining a match. Tried all the tricks in the book and was unsuccessful in fixing the problem. Support is of no help at all.

Don't get me wrong, it's a fun game and there is some level of thought that needs to be put into the game. But for god's sake, don't go into matchmaking without at least 2 friends. You will get your ass kicked all day long.

Another thing is how people say this game has the best community known to man. That's completely not true. I've seen my fair share of trolls who will instantly kill you when the round stars, and blast music through their mic just to annoy you. That's in 11 hours of play time.(not counting the beta, which had the same amount of content as the full version, LOL.)

The game can crash or give you an error message in any stage, for example:

You are trying to create a lobby with three friends... CRASH

You restart the game (I forgot to tell: You can't skip the intro, so I had days where i watched it 20 times while restarting the game) and invite your friends again into the lobby... ERROR

5 minutes later finally all your friends have joined the lobby again. You start searching for a game... CRASH

After restarting you give it another try. Finally, after 10 minutes of searching for a match you get one. But hey, have really all of your friends joined the match? Of course not, because one got an ERROR message.

15 minutes later, you can finally join a game with all your friends. Everything looks good, you can play the first rounds. Maybe your team is about to win. And then it comes, the loading screen of the last round ... CRASH

    ...

This description is no product of my fantasy! It goes like that every single time, on every frickin' day.

I have had days, where I spend twice as much time in the loading screen or in the lobby menu, as I had real playtime. At the actual stage it is completely broken. Don't buy it, unless they release some really big patches! But at the moment this game is just another example, how greedy the publishers (in this case Ubisoft) are. They just had $-signs in their eyes, so they had to release the game before christmas. With maybe only one or two months more time for the developers, this game could have been so great.

Summary: The gameplay itself is pretty good.

BUT: The amount of content is very weak for a full price title and matchmaking + stability can only be described as an catastrophe! In my opinion it is just dishonorable for a big publisher like Ubisoft to release a game in such a horrible condition!

In theory, this game is finally a new approach to online gaming. However, the sad truth is that Ubisoft simply can't satisfy online gamers due to a **** netcode, a bad foundation for a multiplayer game and a truly **** up price policy.

This game should've been either a free2play title or a 20-25€/$ download title, not a full fledged 60€/$ full-price game with 29€/$ season pass attached

The matchmaking simply does not work. There is no server browser. There are 10 maps (that play exactly the same whether you play at day or night, since the core of the gameplay is focused on the INSIDE of the buildings) - 20 characters to chose from, that can't go through any progress, as there simply is no progression ingame. That's it. Roughly 3 modifications that are basically all the same and once you have unlocked everything (took me 20 hours for all modifications + all operators) then you're done with the game basically.

All in all, if you ask me if it was worth the money, I would say yes but that's very relative. Some people are less fortunate and I can imagine it not being worth the money for some people.

    Pros: Solid gameplay, good optimization
    Cons:
-Missed oppurtunities probably due to rushing to release
    -Server issues
-The whole Operatives thing is tacky

Conclusion: If Ubisoft keeps working on this title, people will be playing this for years to come, and it might get e-sports possibilities. If they don't, it's merely a fun tactical shooter that will die off within a year.

The game is totally worth purchasing provided that ubisoft do support this game for a long amount of period rather than just leaving it and pushing Seige 2 in our throats. By long term i mean like the devs are supporting dota, CS, BF4, GTA Online.
Keep adding content and keep it fresh add new maps and new modes. To get rid of whining related to single player campaign add it too as a addon please. KEEP IT ALIVE!

Thought I would post my review since some of the popular reviews here can be unreasonable. First off, as you can tell the score I really like the game, if there was a decimal system I think 8.5 would be fair. Lets first start with pros and cons:

    pros:
-Different take on a shooter compared to COD and Battlefield, the game is very strategic and tactical forcing players to play as a team and be patient
-Destructible environment and operators that have their individual perks are game changers for rb6 series
-No 3rd person cover system, you can peak in/out in fps mode instead
-A lot of problems from betas were fixed in final version

    Cons:
-Kill Cam can be messed up sometimes
-Hit detection still needs a bit of work
-No campaign (but to be fair, devs stated that from the start)

Overall I personally think it's a solid game. It brings a different take compared to games like COD and Battlefield where everyone is running around spraying each other in the face from hip and anybody can just jump in and do great. You can't really do that in Siege, you gotta play as a team, you gotta be relatively more tactical, and you gotta have a bit more patience and approach things smartly. Ubi went with a simple formula, 5 on 5 mp matches you got attackers and defenders (who defend a bomb or a hostage, similar to cs) and attackers have so much time to complete the objective. Each side have unique selection of operators, who have their own perks such as: being able to blast through reinforced metal walls, attach a grenade device that fires several nades into a room, being able to revive teammates from distance, gassing attackers with butane gas bombs. The combination of operator dynamics with their special perks, destructible environment where you can breach/shoot through, and different defending/attacking spots on each map can make each game seem different even if played on same map. And even though the game orients around 5vs5 mp matches, it does have these sp missions called "situations" where you complete simple objects to get familiar with some operators. There's also return of terrorist hunt, and it has been tweaked a lot since beta to a point where it's fairly playable on hard and can be enjoyable, and contrary to what some might say, the AI are not dumb at all. They aren't the smartest AI in the game, but they are good at flanking players and taking cover, and take advantage during certain moments where player might be disadvantaged.

Also I noticed that some players complained that Siege has dumbed down the franchise and not all like some of the original Tom Clansy's Rainbow Six games. And even though it's true that it's not completely congruent to likes of Rogue Spear, it still seems to be a step towards more original rb6 games since it doesn't have that ridiculous 3rd person cover system off vegas and health does not regenerate (unless you revive a down teammate, which typically brings it back to 50) unlike Vegas if I remember Vegas correctly. And to be fair, we should see this coming a mile away since very few developers can successfully take newer games back to the likes of original, especially something as complex and relatively much difficult to play as more original rb6. I think relative to Vegas, they did a great job bringing back RB6. Also some might complain lack of campaign. And I'm not going to go out of my way to justify the lack of campaign, devs warned that since the game was announced. It's certainly not at all like COD or Battlefield. However I would love to see campaign in this game, I don't know enough to truly know whether lack of campaign might be the reason for what seems to be solid multiplayer experience, or more of a lack of initiative.

A lot of bugs that persisted in beta such as: seeing limbs through wall, taking forever to find a server in a match, bad hit detection, bad netcode, etc have been worked on and to most extend fixed. In addition certain balancing tweaks were made such as lowering accuracy for firing from hip with a pistol, which made shield operators invincible. Though they are few issues that need to be fixed, for example there are times when you get killed and you want to find out how it happened, whatever kill cam shows doesn't seem to make any sense. Still with what I consider to be minor issues, the game is still enjoyable, very few games come out fully polished these days, and I have confidence that ubi will take care of them in short time.

I do like how ubi is planning on supporting the game with free new maps, weapons, and operators. My only concern about that, is even though new operators will be free, it will take 25 hours to unlock without paying for them, which from my standpoint seems a bit unreasonable.

Price-wise, I can't say I can justify that this game worth whole 60 dollars but I do think that it's definably worth around 40, and with all the sales going on right now it's not impossible to get the game for that much.

And also in terms of maps I am satisfied, of course there could be a larger number of maps but for now it's good especially that some of those are pretty large and it's a must to know each of those very good for the ease of describing locations on voice chat.
There is a quite large number of negatives, like matchmaking times, loading screens in between rounds, disconnection from servers (even during ranked matches!). Weird "deaf kills" that only on kill cams they look proper, sometimes really bad hit detection, not enough customizations and rewards in game. Occasional fps drops from stable 90 to 20-30fps...
I was gonna give it 7 because of overall bugs (some of those are being fixed with first patch ex. ultra texture pack), however there is no better feeling than playing with your friends with teamspeak enabled, helping each other, scouting with the drones, setting tactics, preparing defenses, etc. I have not played game like this and I am looking forward. I found this game very satisfying. I advise to play it with friends, because lack of communication and teamkillers can easily break the game.

Every game begins with a match of RC Pro AM remote control car derby if your offense, or run around doing the same old BS if your defense. The netcode is from the 90's and bullets don't always register a hit, which is a HUGE issue considering that most of the time it is 1 shot 1 kill. Graphics are pretty heavily outdated, and in game actions are painfully ugly. Why can one side pick up barbwire, but the other can't? Who smashes barb wire with the butt of a gun? Who disarms a bomb with a butt of a gun? All these things make the game feel incomplete, rushed, and just pretty darn fake which takes you out of the immersion that it was designed to be. Lastly, content to price is far far FAR off! Wait until after Christmas, then pick it up for $19.99. But even then be careful, people may of stopped playing making matches almost impossible to find.... If they decide to even fix their online servers which go down constantly without any notice. I would go as far as to say this game explores things that I have always wanted in Counter Strike, particularily when playing cs_office and militia. CS is fun and I will never throw a stone at it, but this stuff just doesn't quite work there. That's the reason the defuse maps are the only ones in competetive rotation. RS Siege on the other hand covers this aspect very good. If you wanted a real building assault scenario simulation, this is the closest one out there.

The team balancing is fairly good and adds spice to the game where other games don't deliver. Certainly a new experience, in a lot of ways. The skill ceiling is also very high, and not just weapon skill ceiling, which is a good thing for a competetive shooter. The operators are interesting, unique and require quite a bit of thinking to master. Unfortunately, some operators seem more valuable than others, some of them cover a large amount of different events, some are narrowly specialized and will be deemed useless in many situations. The mechanics are fairly easy to understand, after the first match you will be all set about the basics and how to's.

One of the biggest problems of the game is the content. Yes, the maps will be added in the future, but as it stands, you will be bored quite fast with most of the maps, even despite the replayability value, which is enormous. As it stands, the game needs more maps, perhabs missions and events to gauge the community. If not, the game will die very quickly, don't expect the life span of counter strike.

Oh, another annoyance - weapon skins and the resultant microtransactions. That very same **** we have to deal with in CS GO, it returns.

I would also say that locking operators behind an experience wall is a bad move of Ubisoft. This makes absolutely no sense for a class based shooter. I have an approximate understanding of the reason why Ubisoft did this, and it's not a good one.

Of course, there are things I question should be in the game, such as the online market for pay2get stuff (like $29 season pass that unlocks characters, Currency Booster, and EXP booster), but I don't foresee these items giving mid-level players much of an advantage.

I should note that the tutorial is horrid. And the Scenario mode's gameplay is too punishing to casually learn the game as a tutorial. For instance, I didn't really understand how to remotely ignite explosive charges or understand the uses of drone/ extra drone for a few rounds into the game. So, I hope Ubisoft enhances the tutorial, because it'll deter a lot of new players.

Oh and another thing: There're way too many non-English speaking players on the game. Can we somehow limit the matchmaking by regions?

Lastly, I think game will have a hard-time retaining casual-players. There is not gameplay that really stands out to me, and doesn't give players the flexibility to be creative. I would've like to see a feature where users could create their own maps, and a server list for custom games/scenarios where I could play a round with 10 v 10 or 15 v 15 or with Multiple objectives.

The realism is there where 1 or 2 shots will kill but the netcode and/or hit detection is fuzzy as hell. Watching replays it's infuriating when even the replay shows the bullet "hits" not actually hitting you.

The graphics are mediocre and are below what AAA titles provide these days.

I'm not spending 60 dollars on a game with such limited content, no dedicated servers, and a MP only focus. There are a lot of fanboys out there with hurt butts, and I don't understand it. Sure the game doesn't have a single player campaign, and I get it, not every one plays multiplayer, and there are some people who love story striven games. It's reasonable to be upset since Tom Clancy is a writer; and you know he's all about building a story with believable characters, and blah, blah blah. There are a lot of fanboys out there with hurt butts, and I don't understand it. It's reasonable to be upset since Tom Clancy is a writer; and you know he's all about building a story with believable characters, and blah, blah blah.

But at it's core Rainbow Six is still very much alive in this title. There aren't many games on the console market that focuses so deeply on team tactics. All that planing before a mission, giving your red team, and blue team their planed routes and go codes, that's all there. The same amount of finesse and planing goes in to how you assault your objective just like any other rainbow six game. Of course, this applies if you have a good team, but I've ran in to more players willing to listen and work as team with strangers more-so in rainbow six siege, than any other game on the market. So if you don't have a group of guys to play with, it's not very hard to meet like minded players who whined up on your friend list after a few games. I've added at least 20 and started a community of PS4 called, You Gotta Be Tacticool.

I do have to admit though. The controls can be a bit funky at first, but I suggest adjusting your stick dead zones (if you're playing on consoles), turn up your sensitivity, and turn off aim assist if you're playing terrorist hunt, and you should be golden. My setting for my dead zones are turned all the way down to five, and my sensitivities are set to five and that's my sweet spot.

Now if you do want to play single player, there is the classic terrorist hunt, and the new situations. Situations are basically a weak ass set of "campaign" missions that teach you how to play the game. But honestly, Multiplayer is where this game really shines.

I love the team work, and the how easily the dynamics of a map can change. The destructible surfaces really make this game interesting, and if your team is really on par. You can spank just about any defending team. Just last night I played a rank match that went 9 rounds because each of our teams were so spot on with attacking. It was one of the best games I've played so far, and the most exciting. Of course we won since we were the last to attack and took the match point.

I'm giving this game a 9 out of 10 only because they're are a lack of maps and instead of adding to level designs, they are creating additional operators. I don't have any complaints about game modes because they suit the theme of the game incredibly well.

So, if this game had more content, it would have defiantly received a 10/10.

Good game, all these zeros are way to low. Hit detection really isn't that bad, kill cams are just bugged. They don't show exactly where the person aimed. Watch if you get final kill, it will be off. Match making is slow sometimes but not as bad as beta, I always find a game. Great FPS with destruction. TTK is kind of weird but it's good fun. This is a 5 vs 5 game which involves 2 sides Attackers v Defenders.

Rock, Paper, Guns, Bombs and Special Abilities

    Operator's have a various weapons + a Special Ability.

Gameplay last 4 minutes. The Attackers storm the building or plane by whatever means they can. Maybe abseiling in through windows or roof tops and breaking in doors or blowing holes in walls.

Defenders it is a tense time waiting. Sometimes you all might just be in one fortified room undiscovered by the remote drones of the Counter-Terrorist Law Enforcement but with the knowledge it is inevitable that you will be found.

The tension and suspense are heightened knowing that this is a no respawn game, it's do or die.

The game is played with the first team to win 3 rounds are the victors. If you start on Attack the first round the next round you will be defence and so on. But if the game reaches 2-2 then a Overtime round is played but this time a coin is flipped to see which team defends and which team attack. By this time both teams get to know each other a bit, tactics, if there is teamwork going on, what kind of Operators the enemy is likely to use plus how good players may be.

It's a game of cat and mouse, tactical, skilful and cunning, with a touch of tiny bit luck thrown in. 4 mins can seem like a long time in this game. Then action might erupt and it could be all over in a minute or it could be a series of engagements. It could be a big engagement at the beginning followed by a lull in the middle of the game and a stealthy tense ending. The game could be sniping at each other in CQB (Close Quarter Combat) for the entire game. I also noted players bating each other into traps and ambushes. Players using little tricks they have learned to get an advantage or the drop on the enemy, first shot can be crucial and can be the advantage to getting the kill. If someone sees you and you don't see them, your dead 90% of the time.

    Gunfights

This game has the best gunfights in any shooting game I've played period! This is the first real game where cover feels like a real life situation. You could be hanging upside down like spiderman abseiling down a building shooting in a window from the top when people expect you to shoot from the bottom. Drop down shoot or throw grenade or flash bang or break a barricade or plant a charge or a special weapon.

Bullets whizzing past ping off surfaces, you may even get hit by a bullet or two, if you get hit in the head it's game over for you. The gun play seems so real, once you get someone in your sight they can easy be dead. But the game has body armour, it varies from Operator to Operator or if you get given extra body armour by a team mate. Body armour can enable you to take a bullet or two maybe 3 or 4 even I'd say about 5 at max and you're dead. The game feels so life like that I could take three people out rushing me with a single clip of an automatic weapon. The gunfights are so intense it's like the wild west in game. I can't even begin to put it into words just how exhilarating this game can be. The gameplay is perfect, 10 out of 10 for that. Well balanced, great mechanics built around a fantastic concept. It don't get better than this. I think the programming team have reached their pinnacle.

Certain games come round not very often maybe once a decade that set the bar and are groundbreaking. This game is not so much groundbreaking, it is a number of the best ideas from games it the past put together in a perfect package that sets the bar in gameplay.

Gameplay, gameplay, gameplay, tactics and fun, that's what this game is about.

The environments are mainly destructible and feel very real, for a game it's really quite amazing.

The game has built in voice comms and people do communicate with each other more than any other game I've played, when you play with random's. I should imagine playing with friends takes this game up another level and this will be a brilliant e-sports game.

    Atmosphere & Maps

The game's map are great and varied. You get 11 map from Airplane's to Hell's Angels motorcycle clubs like something out of “The Sons of Anarchy”. When in the Hells Angels club you have rock music blaring out the duke box. Most of the time though there is a eerie silence that is only broken by footsteps, voices or gunfire or explosions. It's all very tense and believable. The 11 maps have different places to place booms and hostages and can change from game to game, room to room, making the game have variety and the maps have more than one play style. With no two games feeling the same.

From the controls to gun play to game design to atmosphere, this game hits all the right notes.

    Score

    Atmosphere: 9

    Sound 8.5

    Graphics 8.5

    Gameplay 10

    Overall 9.8 out 10

This is a Classic game that will last for many years to come and I'd say the best first person shooter I've ever play.

Regarding the coop and training missions: They don't make much fun an the AI is pretty stupid, but for learning the game it is ok (As I mentioned earlier, I only care about multiplayer anyways).

    About Multiplayer:
It makes a hell of a lot of fun, but not everyone is going to like it, since it is a little bit different from COD or Battlefield, although after playing lots of Battlefield 3 before I quickly felt comfortable in Rainbow 6 Siege.

The main issue at the moment are hitdetection and sometimes the netcode, but you don't notice it too often. Sometimes you wonder why the other one killed you so fast, but usually you just were in a stupid spot. The sound is sometimes also not perfectly matching with the game (someone is shooting and you can't hear the shots/ explosion sounds come from the wrong direction), which is quite annoying. But even though there are this problems, I already had over a dozend of playful hours in this game.

If Ubisoft fixes this issues and works on a few more improvements, this game will be really awesome, but it is already a really good game. Another thing to mention is: There are not a lot of alternatives in this genre besides maybe Counter Strike, so we should be happy Ubisoft made such a game.

Rainbow Six: Siege is a surprisingly entertaining game which brings the classic Tom Clancy series into the modern era in a genre which has been quiet in recent years. This game is by no means perfect with some flaws as expected but Ubisoft have produced a title that fans of the classic genre will certainly enjoy.

Siege is largely a multiplayer team-based game which centers on casual or competitive 5v5 matches on a variety of maps with hostage defence and bomb defusal being the primary objectives. Matches are best of 5 alternating rounds in which you and four others team up in attack and defence. There are only 10 or so maps available but each vary in size and style and as the objective point changes location in each round; everything feels fresh and both sides must work hard on offense and defence. You can also team up with 4 friends against the AI and play out MP scenarios although the dreadfully coded AI leaves a lot to be desired.

The structure of the game surrounds earning XP called Reown points - these can be spent on unlocking operators who each have their own special equipment and loadouts to be used in the field. There are around 16 operators to unlock in the basegame and all differ and can only be selected by one player in each team in the lobby. Reown can also be used to unlock attachments, camo's and other additional customisation elements. Some attack operators can blast through walls, hammer down barricades, bypass traps whereas the defensive operators can use their equipment to counter the opposition with strategically placed traps and positioning. Everything feels well-balanced and the level of customisation is fantastic.

The disappointing aspects of Siege is that there isn't really a worthwhile single player option - you can solo some scenarios as a lone wolf but these aren't very satisfying and can be extremely difficult even on normal difficulty. Other issues surround the poor netcode and typical Ubisoft server reliability. The visuals feel somewhat dated and the mechanics are a bit clunky but despite this; there is plenty of fun to be had without the woes getting in the way. The general controls may lack fluency but at least you feel like you're in control of a tactical operator and not some arcadey Call of Duty character.

Overall; Rainbow Six: Siege rejuvenates the vintage genre and is a worthy successor to the classic games in the series. It demands tactics and teamwork and each match is never the same. The game does have a few issues and perhaps isn't as polished as we would have hoped but nevertheless, it's a good purchase especially if you have dedicated friends to play with. If you are looking for a single player experience, this game is not for you but even if you are a solo player just wanting to jump in casually; it's a easy game to get into and tremendous fun throughout.

There, those are the cons as I see them, on to the positives:
The game is real good ol' fun! Tactical FPS at its best. If you liked the classic Rainbow 6, Rogue Spear series you will feel right at home. The feel when moving around in the game is actually quite similar to the classic RB6 titles. Also, the new mechanics with breakable walls etc, have been implemented really well. They add to the experience instead of becoming gimmicky and unnecessary. There is really not much more to say, try it out and I'm sure you'll have fun.

Just like other guys shooting air while they can't even see you, because you are hidden behind a wall (impenetrable) after you peaked and suddenly you are dead from their fire. Trying to hit someone with single shots while they are running is also a lottery. Either you are lucky and hit the spot where the game things the guys is, or the guy just runs away (while you clearly hit him in the back with your sniper rifle). That's the biggest problem the game has. There is also problem with clipping. When you lie down near a wall, quite often there is an enemy on the other side who can see your legs or head clipping through the wall. The worst thing about this is that they can just kill you while you can't do anything about it. I am not going to mention some smaller problems, because they are not important. Expand

Variety of choice, decision making and communication. These are the elements that make this game great. EG.
You can hear someone running in the room above, running carelessly down the corridor. You might place a breaching charge on the ceiling and explode your way into the room, or you could start shooting through the ceiling hoping you hit somthing, or you could drop a little drone and race up there to view through the onboard camera, marking anyone found for your team.

The environments are nearly completly destructable and can be used to shoot through, smash through, detonate or re-enforce as you see fit. Every game plays out differently due to player choice of character and decisions made on the fly and in response to team mates or opposition..

Even playing with complete beginners can be fun due to thier hilarious and often clueless decision making, accidentally slipping off roofs, having to run away from their own badly thrown grenades and just plain panicking. My own personal worst was planting a C4 charge, then panicking in response to an enemy entering the room immediately detonating it, without moving away. Wrong trigger! Dead team mates can cycle through point of view for the live players making it even more embarassing if you're the last man on your team standing at the time.

Slowly as you come to understand the multitude of guns, armour, and gadgets available, you can begin to plan for each encounter more effectively. It's a game that really lends itself to team chat. Nice to see a game that brings people together in a game requiring thought, planning, teamwork and communication in order to succeed.

    - terrorists stay on their points and wait while you find them like dummies in the SWAT playground. Great, that's what I expect of Rainbow Six series;
    - terrorists shout about their actions loud, just I can kill them easily: "Reloading!", "Move to intercept". One of them shouted: "Hostile spotted!", just before shooting at me, and that gave me time to kill him first. Thanks!
    - one player campaign is dull, uninteresting and remind me of some bad B-movie;

If you play with a group of people who DO understand some basic tactics, have knowledge of the map and know the other operators in the team and are willing to work with them then the game is absolutely amazing and just kills every other MP game out now. Apparently there won't be "dlc" content but rather "early access" to the new stuff when buying a season pass which is perfect. But It is a very good game on it's own and maybe should not be compared to it's predecessors (i know it's called "rainbow six", but obviously for marketing reasons). You can get more than 6000 points just by completing the single player training Scenarios. This can unlock and fully equip 3-4 operators.

While the nostalgia of other Rainbow Six games sits in this one's back pocket with giant neon signs saying "Please refrain", This one does manage to stand out.

    BASICS:
While Siege has no single player campaign, much like the much worse Battlefront, it does make up for it in certain departments, while many Fans of the series will complain about this, please understand: This is not The Rainbow Six Vegas series. While those games were known for their tactical shooting and intense campaigns, they lacked a competent multiplayer and satisfying online experience. Siege does make up for that, in its very action packed game modes in which normally you are split up into 2 teams, the good and bad guys, the bad guys are in a house with 2 bombs, the goal to protect the bombs until the time limit runs out or they kill all the good guys. The good guys have to kill the bad guys or disable the bomb. In many ways it is like a team death match but with alternate objectives. This adds a flare to the game that can't quite be matched by any other. The AI is relatively decent, sometimes it acts a bit on the idiotic side, but through my experience, it worked decently well. So if you like tactical shooters, this is for you, it pushes teamwork above all else, beating solo terrorist hunt is very difficult , so using teamwork is key. The game does have a decent amount of customization, weapons, and attachments. So in conclusion, if you like first person shooters, then this is for you, if you are a die hard Rainbow Six Vegas fan, than you will be disappointment. However, I felt the game was a nice balance of tactics and action.

Wonderful game, not quite as good as teh first few Rainbow games, but MUCH better than the last few crappy ones (Lockdown and Vegas1/2). Oh yeah and the audio and soundtrack are very well done!

The gameplay is top notch, destruction is fantastic addition and the unique cahracter classes are all very well done. The only issue I have is sometimes there are matchmaking issues when looking

I was not expecting much with this game as I was dissapointed by the last 3 rainbow games, but this game is a ton of fun and a wonderful surprise. It rewards teamwork and communication, grab a few friends and get ready for some great fun! Best Ubisoft game in years and best rainbow six game in ages.

+ Procedural destruction is the very first time we have a next gen feature that really impacts gameplay.
+ Buttery smooth 60fps with all this destruction
+ Free maps DLC for the next year!
+ Dedicated post-launch support from the dev team
+ Microtransactions are just a shortcut, not pay to win, you can unlock everything you want by simply gaining XP.
+ Although not a single player focused game, plenty of options to have fun (Situations, TerroHunt, TerroHuntClassic)

I think it's the best Multiplayer FPS in this year. It give us so high quality tension during playing this game. Recently, also, the problem of matchmaking is perfectly fixed so I can focus on playing it.

It's basically a glorified version of Counter-Strike with destructible walls and a couple of more gadgets. Which is not a bad thing. Counter-Strike is very popular. However, it is lacking in some key areas. Small number of maps. No dedicated servers. Cannot play vs. your friends. Only 5 v 5.

10 rating because this game is fun as hell and I love so much about it. But also because someone needs to throw 10s in here to balance out the ridiculous 0s that make no sense. I would give this game a 9.3 if that means anything to you haha. Just small things i would liked tweaked that come off as an inconvenience more than anything else. stuff like being able to change my class up without10 rating because this game is fun as hell and I love so much about it. This game is the realistic tactical shooter i've been waiting for. No map, all based on listening (awesome). A bullet in the head means you're dead no matter what gun ("boom headshot"). Game borrows a lot from what is great about Counter Strike (amazing compliment for a new shooter). Just run and gone, you're dead. Every step needs to be thought out and planned with your team. I am not a fan of games that don't come with story modes, but the multiplayer is just that damn good you don't need it. The way it is set up for awesome infiltration and defensive maneuvers that create these awesome action pact one of kind experiences with your friends. You really find yourself saying "damn that was so sweet" *hits share button on ps4*. Every class has a meaningful perk. Every perk has a counter perk. So many maps that have usually 3 different points of where the action happens so depending on where the bomb or the hostage is each map has 3 different experiences alone. Then on top of that, depending on how people play the game changes again. It's crazy how different it is every time. In other games a map loads and you know exactly what you are going to do. Run left look down that hallway, shoot because people usually run there. Then go to the next spot where the spawn point is..... none of that here. Each time a map loads you have no idea what you'll do until you collect intel and talk with your team to figure out the best way to attack based on the Rainbow Six members you'd decided to spawn as. I just can't say enough about this game. The only multiplayer i've enjoyed over the years is The Last of Us and many games that have come out have just let me down. Metal Gear. Battlefront. Destiny. But Rainbow Six has finally brought a Counter Strike type of game to console.

"no single player" - not worth giving the game a 0. multiplayer creates awesome scenarios that are difficult and more realistic that no AI could give you in a story. i always support games giving you a story for the sweet movie scenes and the opportunities for cool events of gameplay. but for the first time ever, i am ok with no story.

"game plays like a mix of call of duty and battlefield": not true. call of duty is fast paced and people are jet packing everywhere and you get shot from behind every two seconds. Battlefield takes you 30 minutes to get into a spot to shoot your gun or find out where the hell the battle is going on. Rainbow Six is on a different level.

"The AI is stupid"- that's true, the random side modes you do, the AI is pretty dumb as nails. Depending on the difficulty. I don't know what difficulty that person was playing on.

"game is a bore fest generic shooter"- just plain wrong. no further comments

"absolutely no incentive to work as a team" - this person needs 4 friends. i played all the old rainbow six games and this one demands way more teamwork in multiplayer than the last ones

"the levels are boring." - ARE YOU FN' KIDDING ME

    "destructibility is nothing new" - 0 rating for nothing new. *claps s l o w l y*

"rifle and pistol sounds very unrealistic" - i don't own the guns in the game so i can't comment on this

"bad hit detection" - haven't had a problem with this. kill cams show weird things sometimes

"stupid balanced shotgun" - one of the shotguns is mad strong but it seems like they reduced the range since the beta. i used a pump action at short range and had to hit them twice, other times at mid range it is once. really depends where the bullets end up.

"can't create classes between operators" - i like how the guns are broken out between the classes. it gives it a thought out balance based on that operators perk. but i can see why someone would get frustrated with this.

"no 3rd person duck and cover" - so happy they got rid of that. it is not realistic which is what this game is going for. if i put my back to a hallway wall i wouldn't be able to see down the whole damn hallway without the other person seeing me. if this game had that no one would be able to infiltrate anywhere. Yes, it was fun in the old games, no, would not work here at all and thank goodness it is not in this game.

Hope this was helpful for those who are on the fence.

I like the gameplay, the graphic, the atmosphere and so on...

I dislike that there's no really team play. Sometimes... but not always.
And, if you watched the E3 trailer you will see, that there was AGAIN (Watch Dogs) a graphic downgrade

Whatever, in general, I've got my fun with this game. And playing this game with friends is even better.

Everybody should buy this game ;)

    Pros:
    - Intense and punishing tactical-squad based shooter.
    - About a dozen maps, intricately designed and balanced for both offensive and defensive teams. - Destructible environment - Several Operators to choose from with unique weapons and abilities. - Rewards team cooperation and strategy - Not a COD clone Cons: - Bugs (for now) - Players who do not communicate or cooperate

To all the players comparing this game with Vegas: This is NOT Vegas. Just because it doesn't have the same features of one game doesn't make it a terrible game. Siege wasn't designed with 3rd person in mind. 3rd person would grant campers a huge advantage. In Siege, one must rely on their senses to determine enemy position, i.e. footsteps in the next room, someone walking through barbed wire, etc. These minute features are what make this game such a fantastic tactical squad-based shooter. You have to strategize with your team, accurately execute plans to complete the objective or fail together.

This isn't for the COD player looking for quick-kill gratification. You won't find anyone sprinting across the map with guns blazing. That'll only get you killed. In fact, sprinting creates so much noise you'll quickly find yourself watching your corpse get teabagged via killcam.

My one and only gripe with the game as of release are the bugs. Hopefully Ubisoft can fix these soon.

Unfortunately, there aren’t that many maps available, but each one of them has lots of details and alternate routes, like basements and balconies. Even the airplane is much more complex than the archetypical “long tube with seats.” [Issue#205, p.48]
