Old review from when the game first came out:

This game gets a 2 for only after a year getting a real anticheat (Battle eye), and for the incredible destructibility that the environments in the game offer. albeit to late to make this game what it could have been.
The game has way to much interp, and has a very real problem with people exploiting the **** netcode and ping advantage afforded by this.
This game had the potential to have over throne CSGO as the big competitive shooter, but languished in Ubisofts incompetent hands, game breaking bug after game breaking bug fixed and then introduced by Ubisoft, and day one issues that continue to plague this game to this day. most glaring of which is the **** netcode, and broken matchmaker that can leave you sitting in queue for upwards of 40 mins, in some cases in ranked. it completely kills the momentum of the game, but that is not even what really killed this game, no its death came early right at launch when this game was left with no anticheat what so ever for at least 3 months before "Fairfight" came, and even then it was highly ineffectual to the point that the game became unplayable due to the amount of rampaging wallhackers in the community. only after the introduction of Battleeye did the game really show its true potential, while still being hamstrung by **** netcode and broken matchmaker. This game is a prime example of how a big name Developer can absolutely destroy a great idea.

This game isn’t perfect, but I still gave it a 10 because it has hooked me for 700+ hours now with all its new content being added and unique tactical gameplay. It will kick down in the first few hours of play, but I guarantee you will learn from your mistakes and finally reach a point where you can understand why I love this game so much. Must pick this up!

The weapons are specific to the faction a character is from. In rb6, its made up of forces from all over the world, so why cant I select any weapon from all over the world, too? As for the story, apparently the game asks "What's Story?" cause there is none. This is a slap in the face to Tom Clancy and is very much intended to be a mulitplayer 5v5 shooter with the wrong label slapped on it. Should have just been called Siege as its not rainbow six. Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege is a game "from love to hatred". Games should evoke emotion, and "the Siege" with this excellent cope. In one game you can experience the as delight and anger. Players of the Russian region is particularly acquainted - we have never had less than 50 ping. But with 100 ping, the game makes you hate on a regular basis.

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege is a tactical shooter, in which there are destructible, which also need to be use tactically. It's a good game lures - their capabilities. Here you can not just stupid to get in to the enemy through the door and break through the wall, ceiling, blow the door, and the opponent will be confused "where am I to watch?!". Outside you can climb down the wall on ropes, punching the window, hanging and upside down (which at first familiar, but you can get used to) - it is also necessary to use, as the enemy often does not expect. There are different ways to break through walls and other fortifications to strengthen the walls, set various traps. And operatives must have individual abilities and their weapons. All this makes the game insanely replayable, and just a Paradise for lovers to play it on tactics. We also have a drone (team attack), which can be used to mark opponents, and just to check if everything is "clean". In this game, don't just go ahead. Usually you can go to the desired object from about three sides, and even more. And if you know that if you go just like a sheep forward, you die, then you just need to go to the other side and to catch opponents off guard. And it seems so logical, but no, a stupid to go ahead without checking your drone is there ahead of the enemy. This game is about careful gameplay.

You've planned everything, you're done, you know exactly what is going to kill the opponents, but here comes Ubisoft with their network code that wrote Indian the heel of the left foot. The problems can be different from the second podlaha before his sudden departure from the session. Ubisoft are really trying to fix things, and now it's playing without problems, but you still can kill enemy when you noticed him only a second while on his cell tupil you almost half a minute. Hate it. Due to these technical situations, and many others and I want the hell to remove this horrible game. But the gameplay makes you run, "the Siege" again and again. And when everything turns out as you planned, really enjoy it.

The game has no story, stand-alone company, there is only multiplayer. To familiarize yourself with the mechanics is "Operation". And it would be better for the beginner to get them to watch the introductory videos, and then only to go into the game. "Siege" requires direct hands, the weapon happens with a character, you also need to know the map, and then you just have no escape routes or don't know how to get around the enemy. Of course, one must know and operatives for whom you play. All of its pluses and minuses. Operatives in the game is not enough, and there will be more. In the "Antiterror" you can train against bots. On the complexity of "Realism" bots are very good, it is generally one of the most intelligent bots to rebuild. take you to the hearing, bypass. This mode is useful for beginners, as there you will get acquainted with the operative and weapons. The gun shoots great, the sound is excellent. But some of the guns look much viagraxna (especially with ACOG). With automatic Ash or famas from Twich much better put headshots. But sometimes ubisoft and shotguns kill for a couple of meters (as it was when I added just Frost). Headshots are literally with one shot (as it should be), but in Siege it may not be skill, but simply luck. The enemy can shoot at you from a vending machine Bandit and one of the twenty bullets will hit you and you die. Hate it. Hitboxes in this game at all bothered. Different investigators different armored is a bit of a controversial decision.

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege despite all the technical flaws and the occasional controversial decisions by the dev team, this is a great tactical multiplayer shooter with insane replayability, and gameplay that gives you many opportunities. The game clearly goes for the emotions. It's just the orgasm at the tips of ecstasy!

R6: Siege is Ubisoft's attempt to kill two birds with one stone by reviving a previously established IP and using a fast pass ticket into the competitive e-sports industry with one title. In doing so all they have established is that they can make games that are flawed by technical faults that heavily detract from an otherwise enjoyable experience.
You assume the role as one of 33 playable operators, each with a unique and distinguished special ability, and play alongside four other players in 5v5 multiplayer attack versus defend game modes. Round are respawn-free, meaning if you die, you're out until the next round.
Multiplayer is where this game is significantly flawed, which on further inspection is a big concern considering that this game is a multiplayer game.
A reporting functionality does exist, something that is a must have for every multiplayer game, but despite this, it never seems to actually do anything. This is partially due to the consistent influx of hackers that swarm multiplayer games throughout the year, and also down to the fact that users reporting other players don't receive any form of communication on what action was eventually taken on the reported player, if any was taken at all!
The matchmaking system is inherently flawed, and new players can expect themselves to be paired up with other new players against a team full of people that should be competing for thousands of dollars in the competitive pro league.
The game is also riddled with bugs and glitches; some of which are addressed, but most of which are described as 'identified by the development team' and no more. So much so that they even skipped a whole DLC to provide a 'season long' (3 months) period of updates exclusively aimed at fixing issues, which was aptly named 'Operation Health'. Many players (including myself) will tell you that although this season fixed many bugs, for every bug that was fixed, another 10+ were introduced.
It is evident by all of these attempts that Ubisoft are trying to fix this game to a point where it would excel at being a great tactical multiplayer shooter, but seasoned game design veterans like themselves should know that simply trying is not enough to meet today's industry expectation.
As with most Ubisoft games, they try to emphasize the highly accurate and realistic visual graphics. What actually happened at launch was a terrible mess of broken lighting in nearly every inch of your screen, and textures that simply didn't live up to the expectations that Ubisoft themselves set during their E3 demo.
As time has gone on, they have got much better, and the next update promises to improve the overall graphical quality of the game, so I have no real basis to fault them on in the graphics department writing today in 2017. Had I been writing this review a year ago, we may have seen a different story being presented.
Player progression is an aspect of R6: Siege that I often find being misinterpreted by reviewers who haven't explored the game far enough to understand how player progression actually works. Ubisoft offers two versions of the game, the starter edition, and the standard edition. This pricing model allows gamers who aren't completely sold on the game to purchase a cheaper version where they don't instantly start with a large collection of operators (classes) to play with. They can then choose to unlock these operators with in-game currency, which cannot be purchased with real life money. This is a great move by Ubisoft which allows all players, independent of financial capacity, to experience all of the different operators in the game.
Gameplay mechanics are where Rainbow Six: Siege properly excels. Players can use RC drones with built in cameras to scope out areas of the map before engaging, and many operators have different traps and gadgets to apply a multitude of effects (both positive and negative) to players who happen to stumble across them, ranging from concussion mines to toxic smoke canisters. These mechanics provide a fun and unique playing experience with a map that is dynamically changing throughout the round, promoting players to think on their feet and adapt to the present situation. This plays well into the re-playability of the game; you are almost guaranteed to never have a match that plays out in a predictable scenario that you have experienced before.
Options menus are where most PC games fall very short of the mark, but R6: Siege is an exception to this. The game features a highly extensive yet immensely intuitive settings screen, and good news for some gamers, the game features out-of-the-box ultrawide 21:9 aspect ratio support. The 'Ultra HD texture pack' that they offer, which is more than 20 gigabytes in size, doesn't seem to offer any form of improvement to the graphics unless you're using a fancy Dell 8K monitor, but heavily decreases the frame rate of the game, so unless you want to be the very best, you'll probably want to pass on that option.

There's no requirements for getting into ranked, and the devs spam free-weekends so often that it's about as bad as finding servers full of 12-year-olds who just learned how to turn a computer on.

There's a lot you can say about Siege that is positive, but the developers, even during this "operation health" project that they've claimed will improve the game, are never fixing the critical issues that make the game have no incentive for you to even try and play.

    A few examples:
It takes 10 games to get a rank assigned in Ranked mode. The game rigs the 10 games so you are almost always with randoms and usually other unranked players, but rarely against other unranked players and usually organized teams.
Upon being ranked, you will be given a poor rank thanks to this even if you perform well (Because the rank system is extremely volatile and even if you get 30 kills, losing is still that punishing), and you will begin waiting 10-15 minutes for a game because it now refuses to put you with anyone other than those at said horrendous ranks, but the game will continue to tell you that you will only wait 1 -2 minutes, and will continue blatantly lying at all times.
There's no requirements for people to have before playing Ranked, so people jump straight into Ranked and ruin it for everyone else after just learning the keybinds in on game of casual. This is a problem with the community, but it's one that is critical and fixable by the devs.

The only reason this game hasn't become as horrendous as Counter Strike Global Offensive is because, unlike Valve, they haven't started banning people for complaining on the forums. Yet.

Hey there. I’m here to give anyone that’s willing to listen my opinion on a game I’ve been playing for quite some time—Rainbow 6 Siege. I’m just going to get right to the point:

Hey there. I’m here to give anyone that’s willing to listen my opinion on a game I’ve been playing for quite some time—Rainbow 6 Siege. I’m just going to get right to the point:
Siege might have been the best FPS I’ve ever played, but it ends up falling so flat that it hurts. It’s one of those games that most people classify as having potential—but just to waste it and not do what could’ve been done several times better. I’m not saying that Siege has to meet every single one of my expectations, or that it needs to be what I want it to be—I’m trying to say that as a game in its genre it needs to cover some bases before even trying to be an FPS.
I’m talking about net code, fixing the issue with peekers advantage, giving spawn protection to attackers for a few seconds to protect them from spawn camping, and lastly preventing players with more latency to benefit from said latency. These are things that have a DIRECT influence in the way people play the game. It affects how each round plays out, how encounters work, and how players approach the game. If you know that you will have an advantage over someone if you peek them first, you’re more than likely going to run in and go for a peek. If you know you can get one or two picks at the very start of the round, you’re more than likely going to take the risk and take out those key ops. If you see you’re connected to a server and you’re lagging a bit—and you have peekers advantage, you’re more than likely going to run in first.
Most people take any advantage they can get. And are they to blame? No, I can’t say they are. I myself am guilty of peeking outside, spawn killing, and rushing in. If my team is down by one, or if we’re tied up, or if the other team is outperforming us by using these things to their advantage, why am I going to take it? I won’t.
And here is where my problem with this game really comes in: it almost forces you to accommodate your play style to these factors. Most matches play out the same way now. The same repetitious outside peeking, excessive rushing, defenders not doing their job—which is defending the objective, etc. I feel like as a player, I’ve lost the advantage in being to choose the way I play the game. I feel constrained in my choices in play-style because everything I’ve tried doesn’t work. I don’t really like the way I have to play the game now, but because it works I do it. And that’s where the game becomes just about winning and that’s where the fun factor ends for me. I try my best to only play when my friends are online as well. When they aren’t, I stick to terrorist hunt. But when they are on, they ultimately suffer the same fate—and for the most part, share the same opinion.
Lastly, I feel like the game puts too much of a focus on adding in new operators. It is clearly an important part of the game and helps to “shift the meta”, but the season passes and the constant weapon skin additions really just detracts from what I would consider other important content. And by content I mean fixing the stuff that I’ve mentioned earlier. I’m not about to claim that I know anything and everything about how to manage a game like Siege, but from my perspective I’d shift focus.
In summation, the problem I have with this game currently is that it lacks the foundation it needs to support its wonderful concept. It focuses too much on other things—like weapon skins and other gear—when it should be directing its focus on what makes the game function. By allowing problems like peekers advantage, spawn killing, and using latency as an advantage, the game shoots itself in the foot. It limits the player’s choices regarding play-style tremendously, and instead of building on its concept—it stunts its growth. You can’t build a house without a solid foundation.

It is a result of the countless hours of hard work, dedication and support from the developers who release amazing DLCs for the game. The best part of all.... All the DLCs are completely free. The "Season Pass" just gives you a 1 week early access for the DLCs and some exclusive weapon skins, skins, headgear, charms. But most of the major things like the operators, head gears, weapon skin etc, are obtainable through ingame currency called "Reknown", and the maps are obviously free.

The developers took a huge risk with this game and although it had a pretty rocky start, the game NOW is phenomenal. The game's player base keeps on increasing instead of decreasing, which not a lot of games these days can do. The Rainbow six community is stronger than it ever was because of the shear amount of support the developers gave to this game. Trust me, i would know, i stuck around since the beta. If it weren't for the issues i mentioned earlier, this game would've been a 10/10 for me.

In short it is a good competitive fps with a high amount of depth (at least compared to most modern FPS games) crippled by sudden high pings, rubberbanding and random instances where the game freezes.

The level design is pretty damn good, with blind spots usually containing breakeable walls/windows that disencourage enemies from camping. At the same time, because deaths come so fast, rushing through the map in an attempt to achieve the highest possible body count is also a terrible idea.

Another interasting feature present in the game are the cameras and drones. The cameras allow the defending team to spot enemies and mark their location on the map, which helps to alleviate the lack of minimap, something that wouldn't fit what this game is trying to do anyway. Meanwhile, the drones give the attackers a safe way to see if there are any enemies ahead without exposing themselves to danger.

Teamworking is also an important part of the game but that also has its fair share of problems. For starters, at least in the casual mode, there is no punishment for quiting in the middle of a match, usually resulting in numeric disadvantage that can end up in a round loss that could otherwise be reasonable avoided. A 20 minute ban for quiting would have been a simple and efficient solution since players that had something urgent to do would not be overly punished for leaving the game, while the ones who exited just because they felt like it would be forced to sit in the corner doing nothing for almost half an hour. Balancing is also another issue as it is not uncommon to have a level 20 player in the same team as a guy that has played the game for 200 hours.

Had the the balancing and quiting being the only problems present in this product I would not have given it such a mediocre score, so let's get to the bigger factors preventing this from being a great video game.

Now, I wouldn't mind microtransactions if they were only applied to cosmetics but that is obviously not the case. There are 28 unlockable operators in this game and their price varies from 12500 to 25000 points, which means that if you are not willing to put extra money into the game you will have to play for at least 700 hours in the best case scenario. And keep in mind that the only operator that can be selected by more than 1 player is the recruit, who also happens to be the most useless class in the game. So if you want to have a good time with your buddies who just bought the game you may as well just go play something else. Even for a $15 dollar game I find this absolutely outrageous.

However, what kills the game for me are technical issues that I don't seem to have any control over. For some god forsaken reason I will suddenly go backwards 5 meters while I am reading to the objective, or maybe the game will freeze for about 3 seconds even though my ping is at 80. Speaking of ping, what is up with the random connection spikes? I swear to god the game sometimes jumps from 60 to 3000 for no apparent reason.

All in all Rainbow Six SIege is refreshing FPS that rewards thought, planning and strategy more than quick reflexes and good aim. Unfortunately said game is hindered by technical issues and an abusive microtransaction system. Oh, I almost forgot, it also requires the installation of Uplay.

It was a god damned mess. A few months went by where the player base was staying at around the amount it was around launch, probably dropping bit by bit. Then, the first DLC hit. Black Ice. Two operators were released along with a large amount of patches. But, in the process, more smaller bugs came along. More months went by as each DLC released. (Might I mention that all of this DLC is completely free.) More patches fixing more and more, improving the games life and popularity. Now, here in 2017, Ubisoft has managed to pull my favorite game out of the trash and reform it into something different. Something that a large community of people now love. There are major patches in between and on DLC releases. An anti-cheat system was implemented was has eradicated 99.99% of hackers. All the bugs that have majorly and minorly affected this game have been fixed and they have also given another FREE year of content. Their main priorities ATM are hit registration and matchmaking. Even though this game had a almost completely failed launch, Ubisoft has stuck with the game and turned it into a rare success story where the game community is not sinking, yet raising instead. This game is amazing don't get me wrong, but it does have some minor bugs that will not always affect gameplay. It requires patience and skill unlike many other shooters. The developers also occasionally put a $15 version of the full game on the store for those interested in trying the game. It is the full game as I said before, yet requires more grinding, which seems a fair trade for literally 70% off of the game. Finally, mind a large majority of the game reviews if you are interested in the game. They were made back in the game's **** release days and are nowhere near accurate. Give this game a shot if you will. Great Community as well. It is totally worth your time. Expand

Maps are very good and you can destroy so many elements to shape the round as you want. That brings incredible variety to matches with literally an infinite number of possible configuration with the range of operators, maps and the destruction possibilities.
The weapons feel good. You can customize the loadout of all the operators. Operators are pretty well balanced overall. They bring a lot of variety to the gameplay (instead of playing M4, AWP or AK all day).

Rainbow Six: Siege fits a missing hole in multiplayer FPS games of which I've been searching for quite some time: a hardcore, squad based close quarters experience. You may be thinking that Counterstrike offers this too, but the experiences are very different.

Rainbow Six Siege provides a very interesting dynamic between the two teams: the defenders hold a position of extreme control over the attackers, who spend their time slowly wresting control from the defenders, either through direct confrontation or taking their resources apart.

The difference between the two teams is striking: the defenders have access to fixed position CCTV that offers a huge amount of visibility in a fixed-- and easily destroyed position-- whilst the attackers have access to drones, which offer mobile visibility but from the level of a small rodent, affording the attackers less direct information but the ability to see any part of the area. The defenders are given time to set traps, put up barricades and attempt to funnel the movements of the attackers into specific chokepoints, whilst the attackers are given flashbangs, explosives and longer range weapons to shoot into the buildings.

This set up creates a lot of tension, as defenders feel like homeowners experiencing a break in whilst the attacking team feel like unwelcome invaders in a hostile world, which has helped to create one of the most intense multiplayer experiences I've had in a while.

The slower, more methodical pace required by both sides and reliance on information and teamwork creates a solid experience, but one which requires a few friends and a teamspeak/discord server. Playing which a matchmade team just does not work as well, as many will be averse to using the microphone and so information is not distributed to the team fast enough.

Graphically, the game is serviceable: weapons tear up scenery, explosions and smoke pop off all around you and lights reflect across the floor as you make your way through the match. This is great, but the graphics can sometimes feel a little flat, which can make distinguishing between the many different operators relatively difficult.

The audio design is where the game comes into it's own. You will quickly find yourself relying on the various sounds heard throughout the level, from the zipping noise of a rappel to the heavy footed running of an enemy above you locating the objective. All of these instill a sense in more experience players and create some very tense moments: in a recent game I was sprinting toward a hostage when the floor below and wall to the side of me erupted into a hell of bullets as two enemies had picked up my footsteps.

The destructible environments of the game are top-notch. Walls blow apart, barricades are destroyed and hastily rebuilt and bullets fly through soft surfaces, creating another level to the map design and engagements felt throughout.

Though the game is not perfect due to difficulties playing when friends are not around and the graphics can make things less clear than they could be, I would still recommend picking this game up in any sale.

Every life counts on the team, if you are faced with a 4v5 you are at a noticeable disadvantage but through solid teamwork you can still win. I believe this game did not get enough credit for what it is, because its published by Ubisoft, and 2016 had a plethora of underwhelming shooters. After it's initial release with issues of lag and issues with hit detection, it also got many negative reviews. Almost all of the issues have been fixed and what makes this game good has been polished and made better. R6 is getting another year of support and I'm pretty sure it's fan base will grow rather than diminish like other multiplayer FPS games. The microtransactions within the game can be completely ignored as they are only used for aesthetics. It is however a little bit disheartening for the ratio you pay for the skins. 10$ will go almost nowhere within the games microtransaction system, the skins are extremely expensive for no reason. I don't know anyone willing to pay almost 8$ for a singular skin. The principle alone brought my score from a 10 to an 8. Between layers of team strategy, deep and satisfying systems, cutting-edge and game changing physics that turn the very walls into temporary cover, and a shooting model that favors patience and surprise over anything, this game makes competent players feel like counter-terror operatives, and makes the climb up to competency exciting. My only issue with the game has to do with a lackluster bot mode that does not faithfully make the game enjoyable offline. However, combining the deep and satisfying gameplay with free and constant support from the devs and a lively community, I highly recommend this game to anyone who likes team-based games like Battlefield or Overwatch and want something slower, or anyone who is looking for a throwback to Rainbow SIx 3. I like the game, I really enjoy playing it, if you can get it on sale buy it. I have issues with that netcode and lag... In this game tho, if you have a 200 to 300 ping you have a peak advantage over the low ping players and you can own them a lot easier. I'm not sure if the Dev's really care. Thanks for reading.

Rainbow six siege is a really fun game which sticks out from most regular fps-games. The classes are a nice addition and it is a very competitive game overall. Single player/players vs bots aspect of this game feels a bit lacking. The fun factor deeply connects with map awareness and learning the game.

I've never been a twitch gamer, and online TDM games have nearly always left me discouraged, but R6 can be played as anything from a very slow tactical game, using the environment and your gadgets to counter and outwit your enemies, to a fast paced shooter; the amazing thing is, the two work wonderfully well together, without giving a clear advantage to one or the other.

A great FPS-er can run and gun, using his quick attacks to prevent a tactical player from countering fast enough, while a tactician will have traps and counters, often using the destructible environment to prevent a frontal assault.

The use of "rock paper scissors" operatives giving advantages and countering the advantages of other operatives makes games unpredictable and often very interesting and fresh.
Teams of players working together can have a HUGE advantage, but since I play only random matches I can say the game is still incredibly fun without a group of friends playing with you.
The community is a mixed bag ranging from helpful and instructive to downright toxic, but mostly being a good place in the middle..

Technically, R6 isn't perfect, matches take 0.5-2 minutes to join, and dropping out of a match happens (even if rarely), cheating is STILL an issue (even if it's rarer these days), and lag can be an issue, but overall playing this on a high-end laptop over wifi, I hardly ever experience connection problems.

Essentially, if the older Rainbow Six games, CS: GO and Dota were all merged into one, that would be Siege.

There are customisable loadouts, attachments to add to your weapons, completely altering their statistics (recoil, flash hiders, angled grips giving you quicker ADS transitions etc.). If you like competitive multiplayer games, you're doing yourself a disservice by not trying it out. In my opinion, this is now the only competitive shooter worth playing. Period. The maps, too, are full of detail with so many avenues to explore and ways to breach your objective.

I'd advise playing with friends, however, or at least using a mic as this game is heavily team-oriented and you will certainly suffer playing online without one.

    --

That said, it's not perfect. There are a few issues such as semi-auto shotguns having too much range, a couple silly operator buffs such as Pulse's heartbeat scanner - but all in all, this game is fantastic. Surprisingly, the devs have given it patch after patch - something you definitely don't expect from Ubisoft, considering their post-release support generally leaves much to be desired. So for this reason, I have no doubt everything will be sorted (Pulse and semi-autos get nerfed this month so the perfect game will then become godlike).

Kudos to the community manager, 'Its_Epi' as well, for being as responsive and communicative as his position allows.

If you want something a littler spicier than camping inside small rooms, you're out of luck. No deathmatch, no team deathmatch, once you're dead in siege, you're dead and left waiting. No server browser, crappy matchmaking.

I find the lack of variety in gameplay surprising considering how easy it would be to throw a few people on a map and let them shoot it out. If you're expecting ANYTHING like the previous instalments, you will be sorely disappointed.

Way back in 1998 I bought this game called Rainbow Six at CostCo. It looked pretty cool, but when I loaded it up the first time I was blown away. The ability to plan missions and manage a team, set waypoints and go codes and rules of engagement. I was in heaven, and spent hours drawing up the perfect plan to rescue a hostage or diffuse a bomb.

I would go on to play Rogue Spear and Raven Shield and the series just got better. Then it started to go downhill, with future iterations like Lockdown lacking the depth and quality of their predecessors. So along comes Siege and on one level it not only meets but exceeds the game mechanics of previous Rainbow Six titles in a big way. But on another level it falls way short, simply because UbiSoft's emphasis is on drawing in the multiplayer crowd (i.e., young console gamers). So there is no single player campaign, you have no bots to manage, no planning phase. There is minimal support for co-op. You can't control mission parameters like the time limit, number of enemies, map, mission type, number of rounds. You simply get a random map with a random mission type for whatever your chosen difficulty is. There is also no map editor so you must make do with the official maps provided. So on the whole, the game has very little content for gamers who are interested in the core RS experience established in games like Raven Shield and Rogue Spear. Rainbow Six has always had multiplayer pvp, but the heart of the series has always been tactical cooperative mission planning and execution.

The gameplay itself is great. There are many large and well-designed maps. The graphics and animations are terrific. The shooting mechanics are fine, and the characters you can unlock have a lot of neat tricks they can do, from breaching charges to emp grenades. Using the destructible environments to create new sight lines or entrances is great fun. The drone is cool and very useful. The downside of the situation missions and terrorist hunts is they sometimes take the "waves of enemies" approach that is more CoD than tactical shooter. And the inclusion of suicide bombers in every mission that are more Jason Vorhees than a human enemy is kind of ridiculous. Still, the action is a lot of fun.

Another negative for me is the whole cash-grab aspect of this game, with a rewards system that encourages multiplayer players to spend even more money on top of this game's already steep price tag of sixty bucks to get important upgrades quicker. And charging money for things like weapon skins that should have been opened up to the modding community like other games (e.g., Skyrim) do.

Siege is a good game for what it is, but for me it's not a fully Rainbow Six game, it's more a game for the CoD crowd, just like the new Tomb Raiders are not fully Tomb Raider games, but are more for the Uncharted crowd. Without any real support for single player or co-op, the game ultimately lacks staying power since playing options will diminish as the online community shrinks over time. I expect Siege will end up on a dusty shelf or uninstalled on Steam for most players by the end of the year.

Also, if you're looking for great single player content, it's not here. Siege is a game that's best experienced online with friends, and playing it any other way will be a lesser experience. Improves on nothing over previous installments, fails as a shooter. The idea that this has anything to do with tactics is pretty laughable. Give me back Rainbow Six Vegas 1/2 anyday, much more solid games

A must try for every shooter fan.
To all the negative reviews, I bet you guys haven't given this game a god amount of time.
THIS IS ONE OF A KIND EXPERIENCE!!

Yes the servers are a bit buggy, but ubisoft is doing all they can IMO.

    COMPLETELY WORTH 60$

The lack of PC exclusive features leave much to desire due to its underwhelming lack of dedicated servers & small differences to the console version. Nevertheless, Siege is a laugh to play with friends & unlocking the many operators & accessories feels progressive as well as rewarding. Expand

Filled with bugs, nonsense and error. Gameplay is very nice WHEN it works.
It is beyond comprehension that having 32gb of ram and 2 R9 290X still get me some hard lag. Way to go ubi.

When this game came out it played like a beta. -1pts

To report an actual cheater/glitcher It will literally take you 5-10 minutes. and then its unlikely anything will happen unless you filmed it. -2pts

When you **** up the match for you team by killing the hostage there is no consequence. This doesn't sound to bad until you realize how often it actually happens. -1pts

The matchmaking system is horrible for ranked play. The system they use searches for players your level to join with so its an even match, this only works if theirs plenty of people playing, unfortunately you'll be lvl 30 and joined with three other lvl 30s and maybe a 60, and the other team is full of 60+ lvl players that are max ranked lvl because the system joins them together on the same team first. This makes winning any ranked game Very difficult as it Literally stacks the best players against you most of the time. -2pts.

There is a horrible random crash that will crash the game during a game. At any moment usually within the first round. this can happen as often as 3 out of every 4 games or maybe not at all. It all depends. -1pts

UPLAY has to be used which is horrible, just horrible for PC players at least. -2pts

It can take up to 2-3 mins just to join a game. That added in with the fact that it might crash for no reason means it could and has taken me 10+ mins to join an actual game. Which just sucks -2pts

No hardcore mode for a game that lacks the need for a more realistic mode, this usually wouldn't be a problem, but this is a Rainbow is game, a game Known for its realistic modes, not the **** shot several times and still running around stuff. -3pts

My biggest problem with R6S is the amount of pointless restrictions and omissions in the game.

Defenders can block doors and use remote explosives but don't get shields, flashbangs or decent DMRs; attackers are not allowed to use the heartbeat sensor or block the doorways behind them. There are no destructible light sources or thermal scopes. Even though there are cameras in the game,

There are no destructible light sources or thermal scopes. Even though there are cameras in the game, motion detection alarms are not an option. It's as if Ubisoft were trying to make Counter-Strike with mutually exclusive classes instead of a proper next gen squad tactical game with customizable loadouts.

While the maps are decent, they also have an element of luck to them, with some positions being easy to defend and some downright atrocious for any mode, and the position itself being random and not changeable (can't move the hostage/container/bombs). Getting the short end of the stick is never fun.

And mechanically it's not very fun either. Instead of deployables being placeable via their projected model like in many other games, R6S forces the operator to shuffle back and forth until they magically raise their hands into the 'can deploy' position. It's not realistic, it's deliberately crippled control. Of course, barbed wire, bear traps and whatnot can not be placed on stairs, no, sir. Only on flat surfaces with at least a meter of free space behind them (for the operative to stand when deploying). All the traps, even the mechanical ones, have IFF, e.g. the barbed wire doesn't slow down allies. MAGIC!

When the game works, it feels good. Yet, most of the time it just feels like "Game1 and Game2 did this so much better" and makes me wish for far more freedom in choosing loadouts and doing things.

    This game is CRIMINALLY UNDER-RATED!

I'm not one to write reviews, but all of the bot / spammer reviews that give this game a 0 or a 1 made me so mad I had to set the record straight. 1) The BIGGEST complaint I've seen is that there is no single player. This game is CRIMINALLY UNDER-RATED!

I'm not one to write reviews, but all of the bot / spammer reviews that give this game a 0 or a 1 made me so mad I had to set the record straight.

    1) The BIGGEST complaint I've seen is that there is no single player. SO WHAT? You do realize that single player in FPS's haven't been good since Half-Life 2 right? As a matter of fact, everyone has been **** about the Single player in games like battlefield and Call of Duty ever since Modern Warefare 1. That, plus the fact that only people that like RPG's or Turn Based Strat. games play single player anymore. The main reason why SP isn't included is due to the fact that AI is so difficult to control with all of the physics in this game, it would take the dev team around 5 years just to get the AI to a point where it's passable... not good... just passable. Also they said it was going to be Multiplayer ONLY before the release... So why are you ranking this game badly? Because you are illiterate?

    2) STOP COMPARING THIS TO CALL OF DUTY AND BATTLEFIELD! This just goes to show that these bot / spammer reviews are full of crap; and that none of these reviews come from people that actually played the game. The ONLY game that can SOME WHAT be compared to RS: Siege would be the Counter-Strike Series. THAT BEING SAID; the only ways these two games are similar are as follows. A) You have two teams, super basic for an FPS. B) IF you get killed you have to wait until the current round is done in order to respawn. C) Counter-Strike like RS: Siege is an FPS that's only Online play. D) Counter-Strike does involve some strategy, but not NEARLY as much as RS: Siege. This is because there are no "Improvised" routes you can take to your objective. THAT IS ALL. The damage, gun, recoil, and sight systems used in Counter-Strike are VASTLY different than in RS: Siege. AND I LOVE THAT FACT! No longer do I have to shoot someone 20 times in the chest with a rifle in order to kill them.

2a) The reason why I said not to compare this game with Call of Duty or Battlefield is because both CoD and Battlefield have yet AGAIN vastly different gameplay than RS: Siege. Let's take CoD first shall we? A) CoD is basically a run and gun game. IE you run you kill / get killed and then almost instantly respawn. This is WAAAAY different that RS: Siege; which is a strategy shooter. Your life has a lot more meaning and weight in RS: Siege than I've seen in almost any other game. (More on that later) Next lets talk about the CoD damage system... WHICH IS ATROCIOUS! empty a 30 round clip into someone and they still live? That's utter crap! That and you can get useless / un-strategic perks to help with your health, drop a grenade after you die, get a second chance, run faster etc. These are useless in a team dynamic and are basically there for the individual. If it doesn't help the team it's basically a gimmick to add some "oooooOoOOOOoOoo" factor. (This doesn't work on me) RS: Siege doesn't need OR have these gimmicks. Now with all of this being said, of course there is a hardcore mode in CoD, but that still requires 3-4 shots, and you still have those crappy gimmicks.

2b) Now lets talk about Battlefield. In Normal Mode, battlefield just basically just like CoD, but with extra physics, better graphics, vehicles, more "Strategic" perks (Gimmicks). and lastly a much better damage / bullet arc system. Like I said above, about 99% of this doesn't apply to RS: Siege, with the exception of the "Strategic" perks. (IE riot shields, barbed wire, etc.) Lastly the ONLY thing you can compare RS: Siege to battlefield with, would be Battlefields "Hardcore" mode. In this mode, the damage system is somewhat similar although not exactly the same and you still have those "Strategic" perks that help your teammates. Other than that, Battlefield is vastly different. Just the map sizes alone shows this. (Depending on your game mode of course - but basically all game modes work off of the same 10-12 HUGE maps... It's just that Battlefield restricts the range of these maps drastically)

    3) After playing this game for a while, I've come to see that no other FPS is as strategic as RS: Siege. Sure some come close, like insurgency; but if you wanna talk about bad AI.., MAN! the AI in that game has basically 2 modes: Aimbot, and wallhacks. The fact that you can improvise in RS: Siege is one of it's best features, and the fact that the dev team made an actual "Destructive Enviornment" (I'm looking at you BF!) is just AMAZING. The gameplay is intense, very strategic and very thought provoking. People that just want to run and gun shouldn't even be looking at any "Tom Clancy" game, let alone this one.

The last thing I want to say about the game, is about the dev support... IT'S F***ING GOOOOOOD. They fix bugs much faster than I've ever seen on any FPS. (This includes CoD and Battlefield) The dev's also did a great job with making this game run smoothly at 60 FPS. That's It! Later!

Something about the way the game handles from a technical standpoint makes playing it almost physically painful. That, of course, pales in comparison to the emotional pain of knowing that I'll never get an experience like the original Rainbow Six games, or even the Vegas games back. The fact that Ghost Recon appears to be next after Future Soldier only makes this feeling worse.

It makes me sad to play it, and though I got it for $40, I regret every last penny of that purchase and wish I'd bought Squad instead.

Unfortunately, there aren’t that many maps available, but each one of them has lots of details and alternate routes, like basements and balconies. Even the airplane is much more complex than the archetypical “long tube with seats.” [Issue#205, p.48]
