the graphics engine in RB6LD is outstanding. i've read a few bad reviews on the game, and dismiss a lot of it for the graphics alone. i wasn't sure if the screenshots were going to be very representative of the game when i saw them, but now that i've bought the game and played it everyday for the last week, i must say that the graphics truly are some of the best out right now.

A lot of PC games are notorious for bugs and glitches and crashes, etc, but I had absolutely no trouble installing this. And whatever the rumor is about the Starforce software ruining your computer - it's just not true. At least for me. I've had a great experience with the game so far. It's a lot of fun, and I highly recommend it.

I have no idea what the heck Yahoo were thinking giving this game 40%, they should be ashamed, as a life long fan of rainbow six games I admitt it's lost some of the realism that the first games presented, however it's still a great game, which has fixed some of the bugs developed in previous ones. AI is fantastic and graphics, although not perfect, are still amazing. This game is serious fun in multiplayer! I wish I could find more people online, as the servers are still a bit quiet, but whnenever I find a good group of people to play with I stay online for hours. This is one that will be on my hard drive for months.

Just for the record, this game is way better than what people are saying about it on forums like IGN and GAMEFAQS. These kids seem to want more of the same. Well I'll tell you this much: Lockdown is bold, and doesn't conform to the industry standards in blood guts and distaste. It's strategy, intelligence, and fun. Check it out. It's well worth the buy.

How can vets say this game isn't R6? I can understand people being upset by the change in tactical style, but this game is STILL R6 through and through, changes and all. Those who are saying it's not an R6 game need to pay attention to the other aspects of the game beyond these simple changes. It's R6 allright, and if you liked the other R6 games you shlould liek this one too.

I've never played any other Rainbow Six games, but this one seems to have very impressive plot progression. Most FPS games like HALO and SWAT4 just kind of mosey along senselessly (in my opinion), but this one is fast paced, sensible, and exciting. Who's down for some online fun? LD has a great multiplayer element, and I'm totally stoked to get to experience it. I never got too much into the other RB6 games, but I really like this one. 8 out of 10.

Interesting transition from the older style of games UBI designed for this series... I wouldn't label it as negative, as some are. Instead, I like studying the exact changes so that I can see where they're coming from. I like what they've done.

A very thoughtful game. The big changes everyone's talking about are strategic, and a big risk by the developers. However, I urge you all to check out the differences in a more optimistic light. I've been talking down all the negative and finding that if I open my mind, this game is actually a hell of a lot of fun. Although unlike the others it still deserves the Rainbow title. There have been changes made but it's great to see a new twist on an old classic.

The shooting is good, I have had no problem (and halo sucks) 1st off they screwed up a few things, Secondly there is strat in here, by picking different classes that do different things, each one needed to do something another can't it added strategic moments. Sure it was more run and gun, but who cares. Nonstop mayhem. I started playing several days ago and I'm so hooked that I've played myself out. With only sleep breaks between the carnage, I must finally force mysefl to step AWAY from the computer (after posting this review of course) and catch up with my "other" life. I just hope I catch up fast so that I can get back to playing Lockdown!

It's another throwaway shooter with bad AI, forgettable single player levels, and glib unremarkable multiplayer options. Here lies Rainbow Six. Rest in peace, while we go reinstall "Raven Shield."

Lockdown got rid of everything that made its predecessors stand out and kept the bad A.I. and even worse backstories. Even without the burden of living up to its predecessors, Lockdown is -- at best -- a generic shooter with pretensions at realism.
  3. Lockdown for the PC is more tactical than the console versions and definitely a lot of fun, but it's still got a noticeable arcade flavor.
