Jan 19, 2022Not only is Rainbow Six Extraction a great cooperative shooter, it also differentiates itself from most of the competition by promoting a more tactical, reasoned approach: the Archean threat is not to be underestimated, as things are always a poor decision away from turning sour for your team. It’s a real shame that you have to unlock almost everything though, difficulty levels included.
-
Jan 19, 2022The game is interesting if you play with someone, but I'm sure that the game will get its popularity in casual games. Shooting, locations, monsters they are Archaeans are worked out and made at the highest level, the game lacks a little polish, but I'm sure that in less than a week after the release it will all be fixed.

Jan 19, 2022Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Extraction is a thoroughly competent shooter. It's a good companion piece to, but not replacement for, Siege. Though it's best when played with a three Operator squad, it's still functional as a single player game, though pretty challenging and not super rewarding as a solo experience. I enjoyed the mechanics of the Incursion missions, and learning the maps. Though the alien designs lacked originality, fighting them was still engaging. It was a nice break from combat with humans. I wish there was more to the package at launch, like a real campaign and characters to care about, not just avatar Operators to level up. Still, alone or with a couple of friends, Rainbow Six Extraction meets or exceeds the expected amount of fun. I wish it tried to do more.
-
Jan 19, 2022Rainbow Six Extraction offers an atmospheric co-op experience with clever gameplay mechanics that make up for its minor flaws.
-
Jan 27, 2022Rainbow Six Extraction really is what its description says it is. A stealth shooter spin-off of Siege. Although it's played comfortably solo or with random players online however the experience takes off when the party is planned, and team tactics can be unfolded in really many alternative ways. It may suffer in the variety aspect, both in enemies and mission design, but given the different approaches depending on the operator and the random distribution of objectives it's sure to keep even the least relevant to the genre glued for several hours.
-
Jan 27, 2022Inspired from Siege, the new Rainbow Six roots its strength in a mastered gameplay and a strong day one content. A potential hit if Ubisoft deserves Extraction the same follow up and update process than Siege.
-
Jan 27, 2022[W]ipe away the goo and there’s an impressive, thoughtful game underneath.
-
Jan 24, 2022Rainbow Six: Extraction differs from previous games in the series, but the changes in the game's concept have made it an interesting new sequel with entertaining tactical gameplay.
-
Jan 19, 2022The greatest strong point of Extraction is undoubtedly to succeed in brilliantly mixing two distinctly different universes: on the one hand, the ultra-calculated military aspect of the Rainbow Six saga and, on the other, the tireless fashion of infected (or zombies) which has been attacking our favorite hobby for years.
-
Jan 19, 2022Rainbow Six Extraction successfully transplants Siege’s excellent gunplay and reliance on coordination into a tense battle for survival. While its objectives are inconsistent in terms of difficulty, they’re almost always thrilling to complete, and making it out alive with just a few bullets left, with a teammate slung over your shoulder always feels exhilarating. Now, if you’ll excuse me, Lion has gotten himself captured in Alaska again.
-
Jan 19, 2022Compact, dense and interesting, Rainbow Six Extraction is an excellent retooling of a lot of the things that made the multiplayer focused Rainbow Six Siege work so well, with a sci-fi skin and oodles of progression. As with many games in the genre, if you’ve got the friends, Extraction will handle the fun.
-
Jan 20, 2022In the intensely competitive market of online co-op FPS games, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Extraction has effectively differentiated itself. It inherits some of the tactic and strategic features of Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege, its design encompasses a unique enemy eco-system, and its difficulty setting appeals to both casual players and hard-core players. However, the time-consuming unlocking progress and slightly sluggish "MIA system" prolong gaming time and also result in homogenization of the mid part of the game's process, which makes the gaming experience somewhat repetitious or tedious.
-
Jan 21, 2022Rainbow Six Extraction is a frantic but tactical first person shooter that gives its best experience playing with other 2 people. Possibly good friends. It has several flaws in terms of balance and regarding the player progression but if you want an hardcore experience, Extraction could be perfect for you.
-
Feb 23, 2022Rainbow Six: Extraction is challenging and engaging. However its narrative is borderline useless and the core gameplay is highly demanding to players not used to the genre.
-
Jan 28, 2022If you're a more casual gamer, a high difficulty level and lots of repetitiveness will most likely discourage you from playing Rainbow Six: Extraction. But fans of R6: Siege and demanding tactical shooters should check out this game. It has potential, and I'm curious how Ubisoft will deal with it.
-
Jan 25, 2022All in all, Rainbow Six: Extraction is a well-built and decidedly good co-op experience — it’s just not a great one. It doesn’t offer revolutionary gameplay, big wow moments, and doesn’t seem to have much of a beating heart. But if a player is looking for an enjoyable distraction — and frankly, who isn’t during these endlessly unprecedented times? — this is one title that makes it easy to grab a few friends and launch a mission without a big commitment.
-
Jan 23, 2022Rainbow Six Extraction is a good cooperative PvE game that takes the codes of Rainbow Six Siege. The stealth, the management of our agents, the difficulty encountered, the intelligence of the monsters and the strategy make it a totally different game and does not feel like a flat copy of Left 4 Dead. The gameplay could have seemed repetitive, but the worlds change so much that we don't get bored. Moreover, the progression system is also a factor. You quickly get a taste for the gameplay, which very often requires you to make decisions and thoughtful movements.
-
Jan 20, 2022Rainbow Six Extraction is the black sheep of this game series, as he is the most different one of them all. The game delivers some amazing fun times, but the lack of variety in it holds this game back. I hope that just like it's older brother, Siege, it will grow to thrive and maybe one day it'll be more than what just feels like a DLC to Siege.
-
Jan 19, 2022Extraction is an above average experience. The gunplay is top notch – expected when it’s pulled directly from Siege – and overall is fun, if a bit shallow. While I can’t speak to its long term lifespan, I can still recommend that you jump in and give it a whirl.
-
Feb 8, 2022Rainbow Six Extraction is a bold game for the Tom Clancy brand that jumps head-first into an over-the-top, absurd mix of horror, sci-fi, and military realism. It does at times feel more like a Siege DLC than a stand-alone game, but it’s a solid option for players not interested or intimidated by Siege's intense PvP community. There are several interesting design decisions meant to encourage teamwork and decision making in each missions, though I’m not sure if there will be enough variety without PvP to keep players hooked long-term.
-
Jan 19, 2022Rainbow Six Extraction is a fun and unremarkable co-op shooter with some very good ooze.
-
Jan 19, 2022Rainbow 6 Extraction successfully combines tactical combat with PvE, offering a gameplay that you will have a lot of fun with your friends, but it misses the chance of being a very good game with its lack of progression and some missing features.
-
Jan 24, 2022Extraction works when playing with friends, but also lacks personality and charisma, and that makes it harder to differentiate from similar titles.
-
Jan 24, 2022Rainbow Six Siege’s co-op oriented spin-off is an enjoyable alternative that closely resembles its cousin in terms of gameplay but puts more emphasis on action. The game is quite rich in content and offers a distinct change of atmosphere but unfortunately fails to properly reward cooperation between players and has some balancing issues.
-
Jan 19, 2022This coop-shooter is neither really good nor really bad. It borrows different elements out from other games, but ultimately fails to combine them in a way, the majority would like. It’s still worth a look, since some people will like the mixture.
-
Jan 19, 2022Rainbow Six Extraction is a uniquely enjoyable entry in Team Rainbow’s history, though the significant crossover with its predecessor makes me feel like Ubisoft could’ve opted for a Siege expansion instead. It's not a huge problem for Ubisoft+ or Game Pass subscribers, sure, but it's a steeper ask for everyone else...That said, Extraction remains great fun, and the new settings meant my time with the familiar operators still felt fresh and interesting. It’s surprisingly challenging at times, and while missions do require trial-and-error, the level design is excellent. Extraction won’t set the genre alight like Siege did, though if you’re after a new PvE experience, I’d still give it my recommendation.
-
Jan 19, 2022Rainbow Six Extraction brings some great new ideas to the venerable first-person shooter as it morphs to a sci-fi co-op game, but it doesn't distinguish itself quite enough to stand out on its own merits.
-
Jan 25, 2022As a Rainbow Six Siege spin-off it’s fun to see all of the gadgets and mechanics of that game make their way over into the co-op space. The gun-feel is also on point. The ease at which you can throw out a recon drone or line up a head-shot through a wall is endlessly satisfying. And with all of its tactical stealthiness, Extraction plays unlike anything else we’ve seen in the co-op space. Unfortunately, it’s not enough to give the experience a true identity it can call its own.
-
Jan 24, 2022Rainbow Six Extraction is an experimental spinoff that has some potential, with a solid foundation borrowed from R6 Siege. But the experience is constantly torn between stealth and action, and with the repetitive nature of the gameplay and limited content, it's tough to say how many will keep fighting to the end.
-
Game World Navigator MagazineOct 19, 2022Solo incursions are definitely the best experience Extraction can deliver – although this isn’t exactly a high bar, considering how mediocre the game is. [Issue#259, p.62]
-
Feb 2, 2022The concept itself is original, as is the fact that your operators can be seriously hurt in between your journeys. But it’s just way too repetitive and its storyline is beyond bland. In the end, this is a truly average co-op shooter.
-
Jan 24, 2022Rainbow Six Extraction combines good ideas with bad ideas. The action is very entertaining and the jars are manageable. On the other hand, the design of the game is very erratic and everything starts very slowly in the first hours. If you're looking for a fun co-op shooter there are better alternatives.
-
Jan 21, 2022Ubisoft's PvE shooter fails to extract the best out of Rainbow Six Siege's gameplay mechanics, and the result is a repetitive, mostly bland co-op assignment.
-
Jan 19, 2022So overall, with all things considered, is Rainbow Six: Extraction a good game? Yeah, it’s alright. For my tastes, it doesn’t quite go far enough in some places, and it has lost a bit of that identity that makes Rainbow Six games special, but if you’ve got a few friends who are curious about it then you’ll have a blast jumping into it. It retains that slow, methodical gameplay that is so addictive to a certain kind of player, so I have no doubts that this game will remain a weekly venture for a community out there, somewhere. Whether or not it can retain that playerbase is something we’ll have to keep an eye on.
-
Jan 19, 2022Is the game worth your time? Yeah, it’s worth a go, it’s on Game Pass, innit? This is where I can see Rainbow Six Extraction shine. Very dimly. If the game poses a genuine challenge and a progression system that feels rewarding over the long term, there’s no reason why this polished experience can’t retain at least a few players across the coming months. It’s not easy being a video game in 2022: you’ve got some real big hitters on the way, and if you’re not hitting hard then you’re just going to get knocked out, pretty little Siege engine and all. You alright there, Extraction? You’re looking a little woozy.
-
Jan 19, 2022Rainbow Six Extraction takes Siege’s best parts—its characters and its gunplay—and successfully adapts them to a cooperative experience, but repetitive level design and an uneven progression system make the game feel more boring than it has any right to be. Extraction had all the elements it needed to be a great co-op “zombie” game, including an exact blueprint in Outbreak, but Ubisoft’s obsession with keeping players grinding forever won out, making Extraction feel like more of an obligation than an escape.
-
Jan 21, 2022A step backwards from what was an enjoyable experience with Outbreak. At least then your operators fitted into the rough categories of soldier, medic, or heavy. Extraction is a mess by comparison, with operator abilities, gadgets, and guns never coalescing into something that makes any real sense gameplay-wise. The whole thing is a missed opportunity.
-
Jan 19, 2022At some point you have to assign proper value to your own time, because Extraction will not. There are too many good games out there that manage to do this better. If you are on PC, play GTFO instead. If you are only interested in GamePass games? Play Aliens: Fireteam Elite. Do you want tight Rainbow Six gameplay and tactics? Stick with Siege. There are no upsides to Extraction that outweigh the negatives here, and I cannot suggest it to anyone in its current state.
-
LEVEL (Czech Republic)Jan 30, 2024The content of the missions is extremely repetitive, both in terms of gameplay and use of the same locations (with minor modifications) and even graphical assets. Moreover, the game tries to pretend to be a tactical action game, but in practice one is instead faced with chaotic action, where you lure most of the enemies from the entire level onto you after the first shot. [Issue#317]
-
Jan 25, 2022Rainbow Six Extraction might be one of the most trite co-op shooters of recent memory. Testament to the fact that making an enjoyable PvE shooter is a little harder than simply rehashing a seasonal event, it's hard to see where the effort went. Shallow, scant, and lacking any soul whatsoever, it's as bland as the black goo that adorns its promotional material.

Jan 19, 2022Rainbow Six: Extraction is a fun co-op shooter for those willing to push themselves without entering the realm of frustration. Ubisoft made sure it's as accessible as possible, so it's really easy to form a fireteam across platforms and get to work. Replayable and interesting. [Recommended]
-
Jan 19, 2022All in all, I can say that I still enjoyed the variety and challenges presented by these enemies. [Review in Progress]
-
Jan 19, 2022Extraction’s grinding is no more or less rewarding than a clicker game. Its best asset is its underlying mechanics, which make for a solid shooter if you can find the right group of friends with which to play it. In the end, it’s not much more than a way to kill time until better, more interesting games arrive.
-
Jan 19, 2022As far as Rainbow Six Extraction goes as a whole, I think there's a lot of good here. The missions are challenging, the aliens are clever, and the progression system is rewarding enough to keep you interested. Nothing is going to blow you away or keep you playing for hours on end, but it works as an FPS you can have a really fun time with on occasion. Sometimes that's all you really need, isn't it?
