Mar 16, 2017Ghost Recon Wildlands does not really innovate. However, it offers enjoyable tactical stealth gameplay set in an impressive, vast world, and provides a fun, memorable and rewarding experience in both co-op and solo playthroughs. Main missions are well-designed and offer great variety and challenge, and although the story is rather predictable, it has great presentation and ample amounts of information to support it. It is, in its core, a true Tom Clancy title and worthy successor to the Ghost Recon series.

Mar 9, 2017Ghost Recon: Wildlands isn't perfect. For its strides forward, it takes some backwards in areas I feel should not be sacrificed. As a co-op title, it's awesome. As a single player experience, it's great. If you're looking for a narrative thriller, or even just a basic interesting story, you won't find it here. What you will find is plenty to see, and plenty to shoot along the way to take down the cartel plague of Bolivia.

Mar 13, 2017Repetitive gameplay loops aside, the cooperative tactical variety and vast open world make Ghost Recon Wildlands a singular experience unlike any other shooter on the market. Wildlands may not succeed with all its ambitions, but it’s a compelling direction for the series that points to a fertile future.

Mar 6, 2017Wildlands is a great mix-up of some of the best elements of Ubisoft's most prominent IPs, but struggles to find its own identity. Military-minded co-op fans will definitely want to check this out, while solo players can also expect up to 50 hours of open-world fun.
-
Mar 19, 2017Ghost Recon: Wildlands offers an ingenious open world but a uniform mission design. Playing creatively in co-op offers the most fun.
-
Mar 10, 2017Ghost Recon Wildlands is a game with two souls. If played with friends it can offer a huge map with lots of missions, and important strategy elements with the coordinated efforts of the team. Played in single player, it shows some technical problems, especially those related to the other Ghost, controlled by the AI.
-
Mar 7, 2017Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands is equal parts new approach to a storied franchise and familiar and well-trod open world systems. While it doesn’t break a great deal of new ground for the genre, when played with friends this cooperative open-world game can be an amazing amount of fun. Those moments are tempered by technical mishaps and inconsistencies that can be patched, but as a result, this launch ride is going to have some technical potholes that put a damper on an otherwise excellent experience.
-
Mar 6, 2017Ghost Recon Wildlands is a co-op shooter unlike any I've played before. It's a tactical shooter that doesn't throw tactics out the window as soon as you're discovered. Though much better played with friends, Wildlands is still a must-have for anyone who loves the tactical shooting genre. Even at the most basic level, there's simply so much to do in Wildlands because they've so carefully populated their open world with enough to do that you won't feel like you're simply walking over massive areas to get to the sporadic points of action.
-
Mar 8, 2017This huge, wide-open shooter constantly shows its flaws in its mission variety and vehicle physics, but its strong, sandbox-style gameplay and seamless co-op kept me coming back for more madness. If you must repeat experiences over and over, you could far worse than helicopter chases, assassination missions, or drug busts gone wildly wrong.
-
Mar 7, 2017Ghost Recon: Wildlands is visually one of the best games in the market. Moreover, it offers great gameplay, a huge open world, and a joyful co-op experience.

Game World Navigator MagazineMar 24, 2017Once you stop obsessively “clearing out” a province before moving to the next one, and instead start going after the nearest mission available, Wildlands suddenly becomes very diverse game: one minute you’re burning cocaine, next you’re chasing a convoy, and once you’re done, soon you might find yourself blowing up smuggler submarines. That’s why we weren’t bothered by absence of races, fishing and all other mini-games usually employed by open-world designers to break up the monotony. [Issue#218, p.60]
-
Mar 21, 2017Despite its very inconsistent tone, lack of polish and finicky vehicles, the solid core gameplay and gorgeous open world make Ghost Recon Wildlands a highly enjoyable co-op multiplayer tactical experience.
-
CD-ActionApr 26, 2017Great visuals and a huge map are perfect foundations for a good open world game, but Wildlands falls short of expectations (because of unpleasant driving and flight models among other things) and it’s up to Ubisoft to remedy that. [05/2017, p.46]

Mar 14, 2017Not every game should be a "sandbox" to become a hit. Sometimes it is better to maintain the essence of a title because that is precisely what makes it special. Ghost Recon is no longer special. It's another Sandbox. A good game, but just that ... another good game.
-
Mar 10, 2017My interest in the new Ghost Recon game was strong until the very end. But I have to emphasize: this is a game for very patient shooter lovers who don't mind doing the same thing over and over again. Ubisoft took the "rinse and repeat" formula to heart, but it was a deliberate move. Wildlands is made for cooperation; solo gamers will be bored.

Mar 13, 2017The result is rubbish. Wildlands’ gameplay is too chaotic to call back to Tom Clancy classics like Rainbow Six or the series’ earlier titles. Its politics are too vapid to compete with the Splinter Cell series’ pulpy yet prescient narratives. Wildlands wants to be everything. It succeeds at being nothing.

Mar 10, 2017After years of seeing the same thing, it has become clear that Ubi games cannot function on the strength of their formula alone. And they certainly can’t rely on the strength of your mate Greg. They need some hook and less bait. At the very least they need decent story-telling or likeable characters. However, the principal problem that will forever plague this developer is that the transparency and rigidity of their formula will always hinder them. You can always see it skulking over the surface of the game, like a man in stars and stripes facepaint trying to sneak into a cocaine warehouse. It has been detected: insta-fail.
