Wow. And none of this is to do with the Beta state of the thing; it's just fifth-rate game design and a horribly compromised basic concept. There is nothing here for the singleplayer gamer at all and it's pretty easy to tell that multiplayer will be generic and vanilla. All the tedious homework building inventory and attempting to power-up your character is so intrusive and distracting from any kind of realistic core tactical combat that it makes Division 2 look like the best tac-shooter on the market. The imminent Call of Duty game could be the worst in the series and it will still be ten times as good as this lamentable, doomed mess of a game. It's really, really horrible. Wildlands was much better and that was a cartoon. I need to play a little Control now, just to remind myself what a well-designed game is.

The graphics and art style are excellent and realistic. The sound effects are superb for the guns, vehicles, and drone enemies. The game is not too hard that it frustrates me while not being easy in any way. The game is enjoyable whether you decide to play stealthily or loud, which is an improvement over Wildlands, a game that seemed to force you to go in quietly or get killed instantly. There is added complexity to keep the game interesting, such as upgradable weapons, but the complexity is not forced on players and you can still enjoy the game without making use of any gun upgrades. The game is not in any way boring because there are a variety of environment types (snow, jungle, industrial) to keep the game interesting, and each enemy base has a distinct design (the developers did not copy and paste base design). The game does not force players to spend a very long time upgrading your character (It can be done very quickly), so you will not have to wait until the end of the game to have a fully leveled up character. You can play solo without the game feeling too difficult (The difficulty of enemies becomes higher as you add more coop teammates). My only criticism is that the civilians say a lot of stupid and obnoxious things when you walk past them. I doubt they would talk so rudely to a soldier killing everyone in sight (They would certainly feel intimidated and keep their mouths shut for the most part). I expect the game to be enjoyable to fans of tactical shooters that involve more than just mindless shooting and people who enjoy strategizing during combat. I didn't agree with the negative reviews from critics and I highly recommend this game. I feel as if the critics are only interested in nitpicking about minor things that they dislike about the game and don't appreciate the fun factor of this game. The important thing is that the game is a lot of fun and it certainly delivers in that regard. Expand

No, it's not worth a 10. But considering you have a bunch of retards giving a 0, without them even owning the game, it needs to be compensated.

The gunsmith is a step back from Wildlands, which already was a step back from Future Soldier.

As for the whole mtx **** every single weapon and attachement can be found ingame, for free. There is no pay to win what so ever. The only thing limited to the store are a handfull of cosmetics.

I am not exaggerating when I say that it's not only garbage, it's garbage by design. This game is designed around the idea of full spectrum profitability; charging the $60 for the game itself and following that up with mobile-style f2p/ptw mechanics.

Putting aside that the game is lousy with bugs to the point of near-unplayability (for now, we'll get to that part later), Everything,
I am not exaggerating when I say that it's not only garbage, it's garbage by design. This game is designed around the idea of full spectrum profitability; charging the $60 for the game itself and following that up with mobile-style f2p/ptw mechanics.

Putting aside that the game is lousy with bugs to the point of near-unplayability (for now, we'll get to that part later), Everything, (literally EVERYTHING!) is built around the prospect of incentivizing you to visit the in-game store. For example; there's an in-game progression cap that refreshes every day that stops you from unlocking everything at your own pace in order to nudge you towards the store to simply buy it. Yes, you read that right; there are free-to-play progression mechanics in a $60 game, and the always-online requirement has nothing to do with character progression as Ubisoft claims so much as it's meant to accommodate this (after all; you can't implement mobile-style f2p/ptw mechanics in a game you can play offline.) What's more, the Gunsmith options (such as barrel length, stocks, triggers, scopes, and foregrips) have been neutered wholesale to instead accommodate different weapon "variants" that fill in the role of the weapon you would otherwise have the freedom to create yourself in Wildlands or Future Soldier, and these variants are not only subject to the aformentioned progression system, but are limited in terms of attachment options to force them into a particular combat role, all in order to push you to buy/unlock the other variants in that weapon tree.

To add to this, the game is in worse shape than it was in the beta. The game has weird problems loading assets in a timely manner that borders on comical, at times; I can't count the number of instances. I completed an objective by airdropping in, doing what I needed to do, and getting out before the game could load the enemies that are supposed to be in my way. Alternatively, there's also been occasions where mission completion was hampered not by the enemies themselves, but instead the fact that the game quite literally FORGOT TO LOAD THE MISSION'S TARGET OBJECTIVE, at which point I turned on guided mode to realize the game was only showing me an objective marker in an empty space where the objective was supposed to be. I am not making this up, and this has happened at least twice a play session.

The framework of an exceedingly average, but functional military shooter with some nice co-op potential is there, but the vision, coherence, and logical in-game progression is absent in favor of a business model, and unless they rework the entirety of this game's business model from the ground up, it absolutely deserves to fail.

All in all - the very expected failure in Ubisoft's attept to milk the successful title as soon as possible, full of wrong decisions and bad design. 1 out of 10 for trying, actually it's 0 of out 10 - not worth the disk space it takes. Microtransactions are a time-saver ONLY.

With that being said - This game is like taking GR: Wildlands, the good stuff from The Division 2, and then merging the two games together. There are new Item Level mechanics, crafting systems, map, characters, guns. There are a lot of assets that were re-used from Wildlands in the form of gun models, textures, sounds, etc. but this doesn't bother me a ton because I thought they weren't in need of a massive re-do in this department anyway.

The single biggest complaint with this game, and seems to be a recurring theme for Ubisoft developed titles, is that the menu navigation and design is G A R B A G E. Navigating through the mission objectives page, inventory menus, gunsmith, and just the menu in general is designed poorly. Too many keybinds change depending on what menu you're in, and just overall the clarity of the menus is awful. I'm not going to hold it against this game specifically too much though, because it seems to be a recurring theme with Ubisoft titles.

IMO - If you enjoyed Wildlands, you will enjoy Breakpoint. If you didn't enjoy Wildlands, you aren't going to enjoy Breakpoint.

While we wait for the hopeful announcement of a new Splinter Cell game in the future, Tom Clancy’s fans will be happy to know that Breakpoint is actually fun, now. The new Ghost Mode solved many of the issues that plagued the original version, and while it isn’t fully healed from its painful stint as a non-Ghost Recon game, the latest entry in the franchise is trying its best to course-correct. If you are one of the many people who were put off by it at launch, I would recommend you try and give it a try now – just like the eponymous Group for Specialised Tactics, Ubisoft might yet turn this near-miss of the series’ breakpoint into a franchise victory.
