Its weird Ubisoft doesn't get it that it has to be on the side of consumers if they are the ones paying for their stupid products. These constant anti-consumer decisions will only bring the company down to the knees. Hope they finally get it, before its too late. Milking every ounce from their customer making **** games to please their almighty board will crumble soon.

A good base for a game ruined by ubisoft trying to milk as much money out of players as possible. Shoot, they've already put it on sale not a month after release, not offering anything to those that paid full price on release.

2 days ago I got my hands on full version. To be clear, I've played 21+ hours in these 2 days and before all this time I was sure that most of hateful reviews about the game were caused by microtransactions, I have never been so wrong before..

Amount of bugs is just unbelievable. I think that they have lost fixed version of the game and released one what they have had even before open beta test.

Maybe I don't understand something, but it these 2 days I've traveled all around the map and cleared a lot of it. What should I do for the next 1-2 years?

But I still can't understand why people hates those microtransactions so much.. You can buy whatever you want? What's so bad in it? If it is implemented in the game, such demand exists from the gamers side.

Levels and gear doesn't effect PVP, so why you're so mad? There are a lot of players who don't have much time for farming.

    Conclusion:
Not enough of content, a lot of bugs - 5 angry gamers of 10

    Oct 5, 2019

According to representatives of Ubisoft, your gear and skills doesn't affect PVP, so I don't see any problem in microtransactions when people can buy skill points and gear for real money, until it doesn't effect my gaming experience. If they don't want to waste their time and are ready to pay for it - it's their choice.

The problem is that game price is 60€ for base version, it is worth considering that there will be more than one DLC, which will also cost a lot of money. If Ubisoft decided to follow the path of microtransactions, then they could make the game and DLC's much cheaper. Now it turns out that the company is trying to squeeze the maximum amount of money out of the players.

    About the game itself:
Of course, Ubisoft is famous for its game worlds, but like in many other games, in my opinion, the plot and logic are terrible.. I haven't played previous games in the "Ghost Recon" series, however this one is incredibly similar to "The Division". Perhaps Ubisoft did not want to invent anything new and simply copied the mechanics of "The Division", or maybe they decided to transfer these mechanics due to the large number of positive reviews.

Many complained about the AI of partners in the last game of the series, and so, in this part you are all alone. The first few hours of playing alone may seem interesting to you, but then you will become incredibly bored.

Maybe I don’t understand something, but replacing equipment every 5-10 minutes is just nonsense.

To be honest, I absolutely don't give a damn about the main villain. Whether it’s a famous actor or Donald Trump himself, only the gameplay is important to me.

    Policy:
The pricing policy of the game, which does not introduce any incredible innovations, is not something incredibly complicated, is just disgusting.

The game is an ordinary looter-shooter similar to Destin 2, so why not to make the base version of the game free, as Bungie did. Is Bungie richer than Ubisoft, or Ubisoft is simply incredibly greedy?

It retains the same open world mechanics from the previous call of duty, while providing a better story. The story for Wildlands was good in concept, but it was executed so cartoonishly that it never felt serious. Breakpoint's story has a more serious tone to it which worked in immersing me into its world.

Wildland's had you investigating ways to take down a cartel, which was cool until you realize that you never did any investigation to begin with, instead you were guided through the entire mission, constantly being pointed where to go. Breakpoint offers players the same hand-holding that Wildlands did, while also allowing players to opt out, and actually put in the leg work in accomplishing their missions through their so-called "exploration mode"

I love the increased customization available for your weapons, not only do we get things like optics, laser pointers, and other attachments, you can now also adjust the stats of your weapons. Through the use of upgrade parts obtained by dismantling unwanted firearms, you can increase reload speeds, damage, range, and more through upgrades through gunsmith.

I don't have any opinion on the microtransactions for this game as I never partake in any microtransactions. I have not felt limited in my enjoyment of the game, what I do hate is the fact that the game has to constantly be connected to the internet. What happens when it comes time to shut the servers down? I'll just be stuck with an always online game that wont ever work? This kind of DRM has always brought my piss to a boil.

Overall this game deserves more than the 2.2 user score, i'd say a solid 7/10

I play on the hardest difficulty and tone down the HUD a bit.
Single and Coop player - don't PVP

Breakpoint is a straight up improvement to Wildlands across the board pretty much. Everything we asked for from details like tucking in boots (or not if you prefer) to tactical reloads if the magazine is not empty (not using charging handle). Lots and lots of details. It is graphically superior, with a smooth framerate. The sound is great, spatialisation and reverb is quite nicely done. Explosions are magnificent. There are more enemy types that work differently than each other and work together quite well. The enemy AI is quite effective on the harder two settings and, with things like drones, they have more ways to shut you down. I believe the core gameplay has improved and expanded. And the convenience of accessing it is also improved with customisable options for HUD, gameplay and controls that are really in depth making large scale changes to how the game will be experienced. I like the UI for the missions and map too, it's slick to use and I use it a fair bit as I use a minimal HUD.

Personally I get the traversal simulation, you cannot run down a scree slope without it turning into a dangerous maneuver, you have to walk carefully. Sprinting up things however works quite well - as your momentum will carry you over a short steep part that could not be traversed approaching at walking speed. As such you have to plan your exits - and that adds to what I need to do, things I need to think about, risks. I also always wanted the 'search for clues' system of needing to use landmarks to find objectives and wished for that in games like Farcry 3 or Wildlands, well now we have that option. I'm helped to not 'zone out', to use the map, learn the geography. The geography is now more of a 1:1 scale, it feels more believable and the fidelity is quite beautiful. It's also easier to hide in, enemies basically saw through bushes in the first game and foliage gave a huge advantage only to the AI.

All of this leads me to say that the game is "good" - for me personally. But also objectively there are clearly attempts to improve the core game and, while tastes vary, it is not as thoughtlessly and incompetently done as others seem to suggest.

Previously I'd really been enjoying Wildlands, playing weekly over the last few years, but it was buggy and ran badly. The post launch support was rather limp and the additional missions were quite poorly scripted and indeed introduced a fair few bugs. Gameplay-wise it was good, a bit 'lite' and sometimes it felt like GTA, with streams of cop cars turning up by the same route in a big pile up. Cars and trucks would blow up from just a handful of bullets in even the windscreen, and convoy capture missions were a bit silly as a result (capture a tanker that invariably explodes but can then be captured anyway). There could have been more 'hearts and mind' type ideas too regarding use of civilians and the untapped potential of a meaningful way to interact and grow the resistance. But if you took things slower, a different game emerged and I had a lot of fun with it. I would play every Thursday with my pal. Previously I modded 'realistic' ballistics and penetration into Rainbow Six Vegas and Rainbow Six Vegas 2, which we quite enjoyed playing through. Wildlands could be played like that in an open world setting and didn't need modding to do so. Vegas with a bit of Splinter Cell maybe. Having ballistic arcs to the weapons and needing to learn the bullet drop with a given gun an scope was fun - unrealistically difficult because we haven't calibrated the sighting to mean anything - but.. another thing to think about and plan for.

So if the above paragraph was your experience with Wildlands - then Breakpoint is for you.

PS. I wasn't really aware of the microtransactions - I guess they are there if you look for them. It's probably a sort of Shadow of Mordor situation - where they aren't really that big a deal, you've got lots of game and you aren't really missing anything - but some people are so upset by even them being there at all that it ends the conversation before it begins so to speak. It's a psychological thing, and I agree it's toxic - but please, lets just discuss this game. As a live game there's a year of extra missions, mechanics, guns and so on going in to it - like Destiny 2 etc. It doesn't feel unfinished in my experience right now. But there can be even more content sure, I look forward to it and might buy it if it looks good.

    DO NOT BUY!!!

This game is a far cry from its predecessor, Wildlands. Ubisoft should be embarrassed with this product, but that's unlikely as they've already demonstrated their willingness to pervert a stellar title series in the name of money and trendiness.

The game seems like it isn't even a satisfactory product on its own. In this day and age, it's common for titles to come out with some incomplete branches to leave space for DLC. However, Breakpoint seems like a rushed rubber stamp with added flair. I would say it's a sad and disappointing Division/Destiny 2.5. Why the game has to broadcast that you've completed X, Y, and Z tutorial missions every time you load in, I don't know... And why is internet connection required to play single player?

The game handling is cumbersome at best. Vehicle mechanics are poor. Maneuvering behind cover is disorienting and frustrating. Traversing terrain is inconsistent and can be counter-intuitive. The skill tree is quite lackluster and the classes are really just about which weapons you prefer using. The only class that has an ability worth using is probably the sniper with damage and penetration boost. The skill tree, again, is just about boosting certain weapon stats and expanding your inventory.

The inventory wheel itself is very restrictive. Thankfully, you can pause and change out the two actual active items on it. Out of six slots, one is a class item, the other is an infinite med kit, and the other two are passive consumable buffs.

Then, of course, you now have gear score... Which is stupid and pointless. Just like in Division and Destiny, the enemies that start off in the weaker areas scale with you. 10 shots to the face to kill the bad guy at level 1? Still 10 shots to the face at level 100. The only stats that offer any improvement are handling and mobility. Rarity only determines the extra buffs applied to the weapon. I actually picked up an identical weapon with the same buffs, but the gear score was higher... The base gun itself maintains the exact same stats and upgrades are applied universally. Worthless.

Open world environment is standard. Side missions confer no real significance as far as items or any other in-game interactions. You can just scout out distant locations with your drone and just spawn hop all over the place so vehicles are useless anyway. Gear scales with you so you're just as likely to pick up a powerful piece of gear as a random enemy drop as you are from raiding bases and camps for stashes. They felt the need to sprinkle in dialogue options for whatever reason. Rendering is slow and seems about half the distance in comparison to Wildlands. Enemies that are tagged too far when you scout ahead with the drone despawn and then respawn without a tag - especially prevalent with enemy drones. It's just a bunch of wooded and hilly islands with small camps and dispersed compounds - very monotonous and uniform compared to the diverse environments you saw in Wildlands. Occasional convoys are worthless - just mobile chests with escorts.

I'm only playing through it because I bought the piece of junk so I might as well get my money's worth out of it. I rarely buy games at launch, but Wildlands had me hyped up... Faith lost on this one.

This game is a complete piece of trash, it's buggy, animations are half-assed, half-assed survival features and more bad content. It feels like every gimmicky thing they've added was to mark a check off their checklist. The world interaction is sub-par, especially for a tactical shooter. Loot mechanics to encourage monetization, and to compensate for their bad AI. I played on extreme btw. Anytime I got caught it never felt like my fault like it would in a game like Metal Gear Solid. Not because it's more complex, but because of the prior complaints I've made.

Microtransactions are the worst. Now my microtransaction policy has always been strict. Which for me I don't want cosmetics, pay to win, or any microtransactions in the 3 months of release. Any microtransaction content released in the first 3 months of a game should be in the base game. This goes for all types even cosmetic.

There are so many bugs. Most of them are immersion breaking. Bugs in CQB kills resulting in me being killed. Poor lipsync in cut scenes. Bizarre gear loadout changes in cut scenes. For example, I'm wearing a Crye JPC plate carrier and primary weapon is an HK416. So for most of the game I appear to have 4 x HSGI Taco single mag carriers with my 5.56mm mags on the front of the plate carrier. Then in a cut scene it sometimes changes to either having 4 x long straight 9mm submachine gun mag pouches, to no mag pouches and a utility pouch on left and from memory a couple of pistol mag pouches on the right. Weird.

The bivouac system is hopeless. You select to set up your bivouac, get a cut scene of setting up what looks like rope to tie down a tent, but there is no tent. You are sitting out in the open, yet somehow you can magically buy new weapons and attachments and clothing in the store, swap out gear items, sell unwanted items, order cars, trucks or helicopters?! Stupid. Why not just a small hut with a couple of settlers or Outcasts, which would at least make it a little more plausible to conduct trading and get support.

Weapon attachments are poorly done as well. I purchased an ACOG and an Aimpoint T1, expecting to be able to mount on my HK416 AR. But for I can't. But I could attach the ACOG to a shotgun?!?! What the hell? For what reason would Ubisoft do this, especially when they are marketing the game and mechanics as being realistic.

All of this is immersion-breaking, and counter to the idea promoted by Ubisoft that this is a survival type game, you're on your own (until you walk into your main encampment and find there are 10 or so other Ghosts in the community hub area that you have to walk through to get to anything else!!!).

The story is poorly developed. Voice acting is wooden (it sounds like some of the voice actors were just bored). The cut scenes are long winded, lack any sense of drama, and the facial expressions on the characters are flat. Voices cut in and out, and the dialogue is sometimes cheesy beyond belief.

Non-player characters in the wild react in bizarre ways, or alternatively don't react at all. I have walked right up to two individual Outcasts in the wild, and they don't even acknowledge my existence.

The slip and slide thing on hillsides is something many complain about, but I like it. If you're out there in the wild on your own, taking care of where and how you walk is important. If you just crouch before you walk down a hill, you can get down more slowly, but safely. However you can then apply this to walking down a 4-5m rock cliff, and somehow get down unscathed. Silly.

I honestly don't care about the microtransaction stuff. Almost everything you need in the game can be found in the wild or purchased with earned game currency. However I am concerned that the desire to monetise everything in the game has led to really poor choices around game design and gear and so forth. Like a Stetson hat which gives me more protection than an Ops-Core FAST ballistic helmet.

Overall I am frustrated and very disappointed. So much potential, but it feels disjointed and poorly built..

What you experience in the first couple of hours, will be what you experience for the rest of the game.

Running around a boring lifeless map devoid of any interest, clearing bases of largely the same enemy types, persevering through the wholly unnecessary inventory system and awful navigation menus, and talking to characters that just make you want to shoot them in the face. That's it. It’s a game that will take a lifetime to complete, because you’ll likely kill yourself before you finish it.

If we forget about this for a while I have to say that I enjoy the SP story to some degree but navigation through the menus seems to be super awkward. Every new player I come across struggles with it. Definitely not too self explanatory. In general I like to chill in the game and I can in this one but then I noticed something. ATM it seems that to lvl up the gearscore you need to use the highest gear score equipment, so forget about using that nice build you've got there... keep swapping. It wouldn't be that bad but around gear score 200 you will notice that the drops are now more rare, higher gear score wise. I still remember changing equipment frequently, sometimes getting new gun or armor that had +7 more points. Now that I'm 248 (max is apparently 250)... literally I had more than 50 drops and not a single one was higher that 248. This is an artificial wall to keep you grinding. Also looking back at stealth gameplay they improved it a tiny bit but still you shot one guy and 5 seconds later you have whole base on your back. There are ways around it (no spoilers) and now that I know them, the stealth lost its all meaning.
What about multiplayer then? Is it as fun as Wildlands? Well, it had few bugs before todays patch, but... (taking a sip of water) now its even worse. One of my mates was invisible (post patch 16/OCT/2019), but dont you worry, only to us, not the enemies. Invisible furnitures and stuff. Loading lags that force disconnects on the host, which is always fun when hes doing the piloting. It got a bit better nowadays, but still happens. Oh yeah, there are enemies you wont be able to shoot (the drunk drones). Every now and then 5 of those bastards starts shooting you. Funny thing is that they stop moving only when you dont look at them. They killed my party few times, and it took me some running and lucky shots to clear them up. ...what else. Well to be honest if someone gives you the game for free, enjoy it, BUT under no condition buy it. I have never seen as many bugs in the game as in this one. Mission notification appearing after each loading into the game... I've seen this things 50 times already. Mission info not marking as read, making you believe there is new update on mission where there is none, and uon relogging you do this again and again and again. Also and this is SUPER IMPORTANT, as no one talks about it. Half of the missions are currently locked!!! Can you freaking imagine, you cannot finish the game because the missions and locked, SINGLE PLAYER missions are locked! I'm not referring here to gear score lock. Literally the missions are locked in full price game?! WTF?!?!?! Do not buy this piece of .

Wow, the game really got butchered here. But I do not think it is fair, as it certainly grows on you. I had some great fun after getting over the main disappointments.

The main disappointment is the whole reward system. It revolves around getting new guns and wearables with different levels and stats. However, it is pointless, as the differences are marginal and has no practical value.

Like the most epic thing you will find might give you a 4% better chance of not being detected by drones. So what? The difference cannot be noticed at all, and you would have to grind forever to get even that useless upgrade.

You can also buy said pointless upgrades, using grinded Skell credits or purchased credits.

There's an experience system to reward you as well, and you gain experience you get skillpoints. Unfortunately, there are quite few skills and you will very quickly run out of meaningful skills to invest in. In fact, after a short while the experience system will max out and getting experience also has no value anymore.

Another kind of reward is to get deeper into the story, but, sadly it is forgettable and the missions are very generic. Most of the time I just skipped through the boring dialogue.

With a broken reward system you will have to self motivate basically. Which is actually not that hard, as there are plenty of ways to take down the enemy and many challenges. Trying different playstyles is in itself quite rewarding.

The game is aiming for more realism this time, and you get none of those super-powers you got in wildlands, such as being able to wipe out entire enemy camps using nothing but your drone, your AI team or the rebels. The drone now is only used for basic surveilance, and even using armored helicopters or cars is not going to help a lot since the enemy is quite effective at countermeasures.

One of the best aspects of the game is the visuals, especially the scenery. The landscape is super detailed and very varied. You often get some wow-moments while wandering around in nature, it can be truly beautiful out there sometimes. It does require a lot of your computer though. I have a 2080 TI myself and top specs, but had to reduce the level of detail a lot from max to have a smooth framerate on an ultrawide screen.

There are quite a few bugs this time, but nothing too bad. Some are a bit annoying, like it is almost impossible to base jump, but I am sure they will patch those out over time.

Imagine my dissapointment that there is no ghost team to play with unless you play multi player. So I decided to get the game via Uplay+, and if I didn't like it then I was just out 15 bucks.

It's now been a couple weeks and I am hooked. I've played the entire game so far single player. It plays like Sniper Elite 4, and although I want to have my ghost team back, this is a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The gameplay is solid and is what you come to expect from GR:W. And the game is absolutely gorgeous- everytime I enter the game I am overwhelmed with how realistic everything looks. Playing almost entire on Ultra 1440p, with an i7 7700k and a 1080 graphics card. It is absolutely stunning to see, particularly with grass swaying nearby or distant mountain backgrounds. Add to that, the atmosphere and the ambient sound effects- from animals nearby to the wind blowing across the trees. Gunshots ring out and sound so realistic. If you have some noise cancelling headphones and enable DTS sound effects through windows, it is mindblowing.

Where this game struggles is the AI and the implementation of the division gamestyle gear. The way gear is tiered just doesn't work- a level 42 cap will give you better protection than a level 40 helmet? Come on. Same for weapons- you can literally keep the first rifle at the beginning of the game and use it all the way to the end. They should have kept the gear system from the last GR game.

The AI is just bad. You can snipe three enemies before they react- they get this deer in the headlights look. I thought these were professional soldiers? If you're caught in a base, it's easy to hunker down and just let enemies come through the doorway like lemmings. I guess they've never heard of grenades or flashbangs.

Despite this, I keep wanting to go in and explore this open world- it still is fun casing out bases and planning to sneak in, and I don't even care if I get caught. The story is meh at the most- I've skipped most of the cut scenes. I just want to go in and shoot stuff!!

Bottom line: totally worth it for Uplay+ 15 bucks. Finish it in a month and be done with it.

Side note: Am I the only one that wants a ghost recon: Afghanistan???

Gear scores are the worst. I've played about 20 hours of this looter-shooter game with 2 others in multiplayer and we find ourselves bashing the game most of the time. On the contrary, Wildlands was a fun goofing off game than this one. The story is slightly better. This game is bad. There is no way around it. I was a bug fan of wildlands and for me it feels like Breakpoint is a step backwards in every possible way.

I don't really have a problem with the in game microtransactions. I know it's annoyed a lot of people but the guns and attachments are unlockable in the same way as in wildlands, and haven't been made any harder so I do believe these really are "time savers". The other purchases are cosmetic and frankly if people are buying them, then they are the problem and the reason developers keep putting them in games.

Now for breakpoint as a game.

    The good:
The gun combat at long range is mostly the same as wildlands. I did notice a bug where the visual indicator of the shot, and where the shot landed was wildly different at range but this only happened once.

    Thats it for the good.

    The bad:
You need to always be online, but the servers undergo constant maintenence and disconnect frequently, leaving the game unplayable.

No AI teammates. These have been replaced with a consumable sync shot drone. The cynic in me believes this could be to encourage people to buy microtransactions crafting materials. Luckily its not difficult to find most consumables while going about the game.

Graphics. They are just horrible. Lots of pop in, bad animations, muddy textures, wildly swaying grass for no reason, the darkness in the game just doesn't work. It's hard to explain but everything just goes haywire.

Gameplay. This is where it really let's itself down. The cover system automatically finds cover when crouched. In theory. In practice it just doesn't work. In close quarter it will get you killed. Over and over.

In single player you can unlock a skill to let you self revive, however since it's single player, the enemies who killed you have nothing else to look at. By the time you revive and go through the animation, they have killed you again.

Missions are bland and all play out the same way. Go here, hold a button, go here, hold a button. This is not much different from wildlands, but the npc giving you instructions in wildlands gave the missions more life. If breakpoint all in mission instructions are generated from text documents. It's just boring.

Mission breaking bugs are present in the majority of missions. As an example, last night I had to break prisoners out of a prison. I did this, escorted them to the safe zone. Nothing happened. I noticed that one of the prisoners was still stuck 600m away. I decided to ask the prisoners who were already at the safe zone to wait, at which point a mission fail triggered, saying I'd left a target behind.

The script and voice acting is horrible, with the exception of Jon Bernthal. A lot of the dialogue doesn't make sense. The script is very B movie, which would be fine if this was EDF, but it takes itself too seriously for a script this bad to work.

The weapon/equipment level is pointless. It possibly effects your ability to take out drones, but since headshots are still one hit kills its pointless. The game would be much better without it.

The social hub area has no reason to exist. You play as a stranded marine in need of backup, but the social area is filled with many many other marines in the form of other players. It makes no sense in relation to the plot and having other players in the hub serves no purpose (except possibly allowing a player to show off all their microtransaction cosmetics?)

The vehicle handling is some how worse than wildlands. They explode for no reason.

The drones. The drones are a nightmare. Every now and then a uav flies over and you have to lay in the dirt. If it sees you it summons more drones. I really don't see why they added this to the game. The drones are clearly the justification for the weapon level system, but for me they are just another aspect ruining the game. They were definitely designed with multiplayer in mind. Infact, it feels like the whole game was.

Enemy AI is even worse than wildlands. In close quarters they funnel through the same choke point like fish in a barrel. At range they stay still when you've blown their comrade's head off. If they do run off they'll stay behind cover indefinitely until you move. I'd probably do the same, but as an enemy in a game it's a boring behaviour.

The survival mechanics and bivouacs don't really add anything to the game.

Getting around the world feels boring because the world is so drab and dead. I genuinely enjoyed flying or driving between missions in wildlands, it felt interesting and alive. Its just not the same in breakpoint.

    Conclusion:
All in all I just don't think there is a salvageable game behind breakpoint. The systems are too intertwined but don't work together, the setting is what it is and the script would have to be changed to the point of changing the whole game. Short of starting from the ground up, I really don't think they can save this one. I'd recommend giving it a miss.

First, micro transaction. Yes, it is happening. But is it pay-to-win? No. If someone wants to fast-track progress on his own single-player game, or “cheat” on his own single-player game, that’s their choice and I don’t see any problem of it as long as it does not give him/her advantage over other players in PVP, which will not since player stats are normalized in Ghost War. It is annoying that some cosmetics are locked behind pay wall and I feel the frustration. I agree it will be better if those customizations are free for all. But majority of the items are unlockable through gameplay and ignoring the store does not impede your gameplay much. You still have the experience. So yes I wish there are more free stuffs but for now I am fine with the store.
Combat wise, it still has the basic ghost recon formula and it is still satisfying landing headshot with a sniper rifle or storming a building and give every enemy you encounter a 12-gauge on the face. It works well for me and I enjoy the gun fight pretty much. The CQC animation is also improved from wildland. Instead of just try to suffocate your enemy, your nomad use his/her knife and show off some fancy moves. It’s a welcoming change. Yet, one issue that undermines the combat experience is the enemy AI, especially the human’s. They mainly just rushed you, or just stay behind cover and do nothing. The latter is more understandable as they try to avoid sniper fire. But rushing is rather stupid, especially inside a building. A way to quickly clear out the enemies is to sneak into a building, place some mine at the stairs, alert the enemy, and crouch at the end of a corridor and wait for the enemies to trip over your mine and line themselves up in front of you for your perfect headshot. It is fun at the beginning but it quickly loses its charm. The most disappointing enemy type is the Wolves. These so-called elite soldiers may hit harder and take a few extra bullet to kill (if not headshot), but their behavior is exactly the same as the normal grunts. In comparison, drones do much better work 
In terms of gameplay, it is still very much wildland template, but slightly more straight-forward in terms of main story progression. But it is still the same routine. Get to a base, find clue, go to the next and repeat until you reach your final target. It is standard, but to be honest not very engaging especially after the initial few hours. There are considerably more side quest in breakpoint than in wildland and a few of them is intriguing. For example, Mads asks you to find out what happen to his cold-war buddy and you end up solving a mystery. But I am really disappointed that there are no AI teammates. While the game is not too difficult that they are necessary, without it does feel something is amiss. When you are trying, it is… just so quiet. It misses the sense of brotherhood and I do miss the chatter and jokes when travelled through Bolivia with my AI teammates. Another immersion killer is the social hub. You are stranded alone behind enemy line but inside your safe house you have 50 different strangers in every possible costume crowding around the NPC you need to talk to… Oh man
Most of the surviving elements are not important. You will get injured in the fight sure, but there is nothing a syringe can’t fix. Eating and other survival option can give you temporary buff but most of time they are not a necessity. The only thing I like is the movement restriction. In wildland, you have to be careful not to climb or descend slope that’s too steep or you will lose control and fall and roll. It makes you feel your character as human, who can’t just walk up a steep slope like it’s nothing. It really enhances the realism for me.
And Ubisoft did not really dig deep enough in terms of characters and story. Most of the characters are indeed shallow, without back stories and simply bland. Jon Bernthal did a good job performing Cole Walker. But the story itself does not give the character much soul. You hardly encounter him in your story progression. Most of his scenes are flashbacks that do not tell much about him. Same for the elite wolf lieutenants. Those characters can have intriguing background that makes players more interested but instead there are just brief description or one or two piece of evidence that show nothing significant about them. I would think Ubisoft did a better job in Wildland in terms of character development. La Gringa for example.
And I agree with the majority that gear score is pointless in a GR series.
So I gave a passing score of 7 out of 10. It has its moment of fun and excitement but it definitely needs more polishing and updates.

Certainly NOT a Ghost Recon game. Let's get this out in the open now, if Ubisoft had chosen to produce this game without the "Tom Clancy", "Ghost Recon" or some of the signature characters attached to it, I don't believe that many people would be so upset about the end result. Unfortunately though this game is a Frankenstein's Monster owing far more of its core mechanics to OTHER UbisoftCertainly NOT a Ghost Recon game. Let's get this out in the open now, if Ubisoft had chosen to produce this game without the "Tom Clancy", "Ghost Recon" or some of the signature characters attached to it, I don't believe that many people would be so upset about the end result. Unfortunately though this game is a Frankenstein's Monster owing far more of its core mechanics to OTHER Ubisoft titles such as Far Cry: New Dawn, Assassins Creed: Odyssey and The Divison 2 than ANY relationship with previous Ghost Recon Titles.

Whilst if deemed a stand alone title of an unrelated genre, this game might score at least a mediocre 5/10 based on its solid open world adventure, a relatively interesting story and its plethora of long side missions (Faction missions). However, above that is a game which is an unfocused buggy mess in other respects. Movement is "unnatural", numerous game breaking bugs remain past all the closed and open tests.

However, the largest slap in the face of fans of the more hard core TACTICAL shooter genre is the incidious creep into the game of Looter-Shooter mechanics and full flooded loot boxes. We were led to believe this game, at its core, was about Survival...alone, behind enemy lines, ever hunted...however what we have is an endless wave of loot dropping at our feet and to add injury to insult, a shop...in a CAVE....where we can just buy whatever we feel we might need.

Oh, and the final nail dear gamer, the final nail. Gear...Scores. Often the game will subtily tell you that the level, the fictional and unnatrual strength of the weapons, your gear, isn't "high" enough by allowing you to shoot 30+ rounds into an enemies chest at 5m and for him to just shrug it off...because he happens to be level 100 and you a mere level 15.

Let me just close with a note at the stupidity of the Ai. A significant step down from even Wildlands!! They charge at you, single file to be mowed down or they notice a dead body only to calm down within 2mins as if nothing has happened. They have no tactics, the ONLY reason you can't walk in and kill everyone with abandon is...oh yeah, I forgot, i'm only level 15 and they're level 100.

I could say more but you get the idea. I played for more than 15hrs, at extreme difficulty, hardly used any of the healing items you have, never felt I was threatened or involved in anything. Don't buy this game please.

Ghost Recon Breakpoint is a fresh perspective on a long-running franchise. They kept what made Breakpoint unique with tactical, realistic gunplay and combined some loot-shooter and RPG elements of Division 2. There are bugs that need to be addressed such as auto-cover and camera positioning. Overall, a solid game with outstanding voice-acting and facial animations.

Not at any point did I feel they made the game leveling intentionally slow in order to force people to buy in order to progress at a standard pace. Out of all the game developers out there, with regards to microtransaction these are the least pervasive. Now, as far as game play mechanics, they did a phenomenal job, the combat is smooth and exciting. The loot is plentiful, with a lot of different types of loot drops. The story isn’t very good, but it’s enough to keep you going in the game. The biggest complaint is the map navigation, and is the main reason I gave it an 8 instead of a 9, the ladder climbing is very unresponsive and on occasion trying to navigate through mountains or even hills can be very challengingly. Played the open beta, wasn't home for the close beta but didn't miss the open one, so loved the open beta and played the 3 days with friends and was a blast, the co-op is great, graphics wise is probably the best game of 2019, got the game and started playing day 1-10-2019 and still playing, haven't played anything else since 26-09-2019 because of Ghost Recon Breakpoint and the fun i amPlayed the open beta, wasn't home for the close beta but didn't miss the open one, so loved the open beta and played the 3 days with friends and was a blast, the co-op is great, graphics wise is probably the best game of 2019, got the game and started playing day 1-10-2019 and still playing, haven't played anything else since 26-09-2019 because of Ghost Recon Breakpoint and the fun i am having with friends, tried the pvp "Ghost War" and seems fun, not all are roses game needs some tweaks and there are bugs all over but nothing game breaking, i do recommend this game, i like the story and seems good enough, the story could be more engaging and better written but i still think they did a good job, the gameplay side is great and i am now xp level 30 the cap, class level 10 the cap and gear level 203 not sure what is the cap.
The game gave me at the moment 42 hours more the 3 beta days not sure how many hours but at least 20h more so probably 60h total at least of great fun and i hope i don't get bored, i can put some game hours and for those that can't put the game hours there are some micro transactions on the store, i haven't bought any cause i didn't felt the need but think some might, think they took some out the store and i'm glad they did, lot's of people were trash talking Ubisoft because of it, but this days youtubers and "reviewers" do that for all games that come out.

This is monetization platform with additional element of gameplay.... What is most annoying is that Ubisoft thinks that players are idiots and will believe that all these monetization was implemented by mistake....... Ridiculous..... But... considering how many modern players have IQ

    Do not buy this game.

There used to be a time when a $60 game was released with all its content. Nowadays, we get "games as service" with content hidden behind paywalls and microtransactions. You would have thought Ubisoft would have learnt from EA's debacle with Anthem, but instead, they've gone down the cliff like a lemming.

This is utter garbage, a storefront, disguised as a game.

I honestly created an acnt for this. Majority of neg reviews here are lying review bombers. The game is not pay to win, all the guns are accessible in game and not very difficult, you can be careful at get

They allow you to skip hunting them on the map with $$,that is not pay to win, also no guns are blatantly better and OP compared to others, your ability to aim matters most. There are a lot of mtx, don't get me wrong, but it is all ALL optional and does not give you any sort of real PvP advantage.
You can only buy the blueprints either way.
Also can NOT (currently) buy skill points (you get them insanely easy and all the time, I have the entire current skill tree unlocked, 55 more skill points with nothing (currently) to spend them on, and still getting more from the many activities that give them.
You earn MANY (most even) skins and blueprints by playing, not paying.
No current xp boosts, though you CAN buy ingame credits, it is not worth it since they are easy to come by via main missions (and pvp also if into it)

That all aside, the game is not without glitches but more are minor annoyance than anything, I have yet to see game breaking issues. The game really shines in Coop, along with PvP.
The PvE story is actually interesting, and I normally skip story **** on all games, even RPGs, but I am enjoying the story in this one, much to my own surprise.

The PvP has been really addictive and a lot of fun, I can't wait to see more modes and maps released.

Graphically the game is gorgeous, but can have some odd texture issues even on all ultra settings, things occasionally look a tad grainy where they should not at a distance that should be properly rendered but it generally does not stay that way and I expect will be addressed.

Overall, myself and my friends that picked it up have really loved it, the RPG aspect is not overly complicated but gives you a greater sense of growth, in our opinions. You upgrade guns as in if i upgrade this G28 DMR, ALL G28 DMRs i pick up in future are upgraded, so it's not a big deal, can play around with guns freely, and gun lvl itself does not matter in PvP, a lvl 2 or a lvl 150 are the same, just the 150 will work better vs higher enemies in PvE (mostly drone/body shots)

The system is a solid upgrade from wildlands, with still more room to improve

The AI is a tun of fun, huge improvements over the trash in Wildlands.

Would recommend the game to anyone even mildly a fan of the series

I write this review as a max lvl, 160 gear score player (not max gs btw) who plays on at least advanced difficulty, and has just had a ton of fun thus far.

9 review simply because there are quite a few bugs, even if they are mostly graphical and not a big hindrance,it needs some cleaning up.

Do not buy this game. Don't encourage developers to produce buggy messes of games riddled with microtransactions meant to hedge money from players that have already bought a full price game. If the game is going to have features and mechanics like a free to play game just make it free.

While we wait for the hopeful announcement of a new Splinter Cell game in the future, Tom Clancy’s fans will be happy to know that Breakpoint is actually fun, now. The new Ghost Mode solved many of the issues that plagued the original version, and while it isn’t fully healed from its painful stint as a non-Ghost Recon game, the latest entry in the franchise is trying its best to course-correct. If you are one of the many people who were put off by it at launch, I would recommend you try and give it a try now – just like the eponymous Group for Specialised Tactics, Ubisoft might yet turn this near-miss of the series’ breakpoint into a franchise victory.

Despite the occasionally lonely world and lacking interactivity, the rewarding and creative ways to complete missions make this FPS title a blast to play.
