Titanfall is fantastic. The gameplay is fast paced, competitive and fun. I was very afraid of this game a while back ago, because of the bots, 6x6 players and CoD developers. The quantity of players are fair enough for the maps have a really fair size for that. The smart pistol, is not that smart, in needs to lock the target three times before you can kill it, so you will be needing experience and skill to play with it so as the other weapons. The developers created a masterpiece, it is no equal to any Call of Duty or Battlefield, it is way better. Expand

For someone that's been out of the shooter genre for years this game was an amazingly fresh, fun and addictive jump back in. Mech combat adds a ton of fun, as does the parkor and wall running. A few more game modes, customization and weapons and it'll be perfect.

Terrible game, 30GB of the 50GB is just bloated audio assets. It looks like a game from 2008, Activision must be kicking itself for not adding jet packs to call of duty because now you need jet packs to get GOTY critic reviews.

The fact that this game lacks a single player option is why I can't even call this a game. I must say it is better than I expected. Great fast-paced gameplay with a good spin on an already tried and true formula. People complaining about no recoil and other odds and ends; Its a futuristic game in a made up world. You complain about all the games being the same then complain when its different from the norm. Make up your mind.

    My Cons:
-Overpriced. Though a great game, it just doesn't add up in content like other games you get for $60. I really feel the game industry needs to get off the fixed $60 price and accually start charging fair prices for what you get.
    - No day 1 crossfire/ SLI support. This is the first game I've played in the past two years on my PC that has any issues with my crossfired HD 6850s. The fact I have to turn off crossfire to run this brand new game is rediculous. Apparently Respawn has addressed the issue and claims to have an update in the works.
-6v6. Though not a deal breaker, This game would be so much better if it supported more people. Hell, make people spawn as grunts and randomly select pilots as they die off. That would make being a pilot that much more intense.

All in all a refreshing game to play. We'll see if its worth the $60 cost in the long run.

Well after several hours playing Titanfall, I have to say- Overhyped. Not overrated, as the game is fantastic and exciting and a breath of fresh air compared to the CoDs of the world. Not overrated, as the game is fantastic and exciting and a breath of fresh air compared to the CoDs of the world. However, while I love single player in shooters I'm not going to complain at the lack of a single player campaign in Titanfall as that's not what the game is about. What I am going to complain about is the lack of depth in the multiplayer. It is, simply put, not a deep multiplayer. There are a good number of maps, but the game modes feel like something's missing (even though to be perfectly honest I can't figure out what modes need to be added.) I think in a game that's been hyped as changing the face of online shooters I expected Respawn to be the ones to come up with something to change the game. Turns out their answers were: a) giant robots and b) easy to kill AI.

There's something to be said for the ease with which someone who is not a pro can hop in and FEEL like they are achieving something, even though at the end of a lot of matches I find out that I am actually not the powerhouse I thought I was. This is not a bad thing- the game is fun and manages to be fun even if you aren't topping the charts. However, at $60 will the game keep you entertained for as long as other "big box" shooters? That depends, really. I feel like the game needs more weapons (and maybe a little more balancing as a few of the weapons are brutally effective even in the hands of someone with poor aim.)

Another thing worth mentioning- despite some minor login issues on launch day this game seems to have had the strongest launch in recent days for EA, which was refreshing as I had the game preloaded and was ready to go at midnight.

    Enough rambling, here's my breakdown:

    Pros:
Adrenaline pumping, exciting shooting with very few lulls
Excellent map design with no room for campers or dead spots
"Verticality" means you WILL be running on walls and climbing in order to get a good vantage point, and you will love it.
Easy to pick up and play even if you aren't a pro at twitch shooters.

    Cons:
Shallow weapon progression/options means you'll likely stick with one weapon for a long time.
Same 'ol, same 'ol game modes- none of the game modes really stick out
Lack of party chat/VOIP support even though the game supports private party lobbies seems like an oversight.

All told, 7/10. The game needs... more. At $60, I had hoped for a full vibrant experience, and while I really enjoy the game I continue to see the invisible wall that seems to have been set up to allow for paid DLC in the future. If this DLC comes fast and heavy, at an affordable price and with new maps, modes, weapons, and most of all TITANS (something else the game needs more of), then I think I will continue playing into the future. If not, well.. there's always Call of Duty, which while it's not fresh and new, it's a fully featured and realized game, something which Titanfall falls just short of being.

Bought the game yesterday because the beta was quite interesting and I really wanted to see how far the action goes. But to my disappointment it goes nowhere. The game is practically the same with the addition of a couple of extra guns, 2 game modes and boring a campaign.
It would be reasonable to charge 10$ for this game, but 60$? Be serious.

Had the game been valued at say, 30 or 40 dollars... this rating would be higher more around a 8 or maybe 9. The game play is VERY VERY fun. Considering this game was made from a branch off Infinity Ward, the company is newer, so I wasnt expecting a very great graphic intense game. The graphics are good though like i said, a 7.5/10 for our time. The 6 vs 6 in the game is right on and makes the game enjoyable. No one wants 30 bots running around on a map at a time, that wont be fun. The campaign mode is fun, but note *it is a multi-player 6 vs 6*.. same thing as multi player but has dialog and a little story behind why you are fighting. I'm just angered at at the content.... It's low.. and they want to sell a little bit more content later for $25 more... If they add more FREE content the game will advance and be better in all. Just like the Mass Effect 3 multiplayer. started small, ended up big after FREEEEE....FREEEE DLC. so again... game play 9/10... graphics 7.5/10... content 5/10 Expand

If you have the hardware to max out everything (Intel i5-4670 and GTX 770 here) it is a very beautiful game as well when running at 1920x1080 60FPS.

I understand some of the complaints about lack of content for a single player mode, but most games like this basically are moving down this path. The single player with incredibly generic plot and reused ideas in the newest BF and CoD obviously show how unimportant they were.

There was a weird bug where the mouse twitched during the tutorial at times, but once I got into gameplay it was fine.

It has a lot of maps but many of them just feel the same. The complete lack of game modes is a huge turnoff. It just feels like you can only play basically 3 modes on repeat. Being deathmatch, capture the flag, and capture the 3 points. After maybe 5 or 6 hours of game time I could already sense how fast this was going to get old. Also the leveling system is a dumbed down version of call of duty's system. Some might argue it's equivalent but that just makes it a carbon copy at best. Nothing really innovative with it. We won't even go in the "campaign" because that's not even real. It's some voice over work with the same 2 game modes on repeat, and it doesn't make any difference if you win or lose.

In the end the game lacks content. It's as simple as that. It feels as if they hyped it to an extreme and bought a lot of official reviews, because players everywhere just find it "ok". It comes off as either they are generating interest for Titanfall 2 or they plan to sell us all the actual content in DLC after charging us $60 to play 3 game modes for months. It doesn't have lasting appeal, and within 12 hours of purchase I had refunded my copy through origin. Take it as you will.

For starters the campaign will only take you maybe 2 hours at the very most to beat, and 30 minutes of that will just be waiting in matchmaking and waiting in intermission, that's also including beating both factions. The story is VERY forgettable and is told during battle through voice overs and small view screen cut scenes which you won't even pay attention to because you'll be in the heat of battle. And non of what you do matters because all of the actual plot is done with the NPCs and you are usually just running distraction missions or downloading data by taking control points. I guarantee you will never play the campaign again after the first run which you will only play just to get the other 2 titan options which you get as pre made load outs anyways. All this aside it is really fun and its a great experience, and after the servers were patched after a really **** 45 minutes of **** around waiting to get online when it came out there hasn't been any issues finding games quickly. …maybe I’m just really bad at these games…

Let me make this clear: If you don’t like competitive, twitch FPS like COD, then this won’t change your mind on the genre. Ground play is almost exactly like COD with the addition of wall running and double jumping. There really isn’t much more than that difference. I unloaded a full clip into someone that just shrugged it off and kicked me.

The addition of AI grunts is nice, I suppose, but act as cannon fodder and add no real challenge. One previewer mention that Pilots and Grunts look the same, which they do. More than once I was killed by a pilot because he was grouped with a bunch of Grunts and I picked the wrong one to shoot. Farming them is supposed to make less skilled players feel useful, but only highlight the fact that I’m playing a multiplayer game, shooting AI that’s dumb. That doesn’t make me feel useful. I never used the auto pistol because it replaces your main weapon and I don’t want auto aim to help me. It just feels cheap.

Then there are the Titans, which adds a slightly new take on an old dynamic but it’s nothing not seen in Unreal Tournament, Halo, and Battlefield. They are essentially bipedal “tanks” that deal large damage with rockets, chain or rail guns. There’re rather fragile but you get a chance to get a new one if it’s destroyed, which happens few times as the matches don’t last very long. You also get a chance to retreat to a drop ship if you fail, which is really the only cool “new” type of gameplay enhancement.

No single player, but I don’t knock it down for that. COD and BF always have a generic, boring single player that’s there to “check the box.” No one really buys these games for the single player and they’re easily forgotten after beating them. The Multiplayer Campaign is rather a joke, throwing in some extra cut screens before the match begins with some added chatter from NPC while you play and after the round has ended. No one really pays attention to the story and plays the match like it’s a standard multiplayer match. It’s even more worthless then single player games from COD and BF and should have been scrapped in favor a new mode or two.

Graphics on the PC are good, very much to the level of COD or BF but not above and beyond. Sound is very good as well, with everything sounding as it should with some nice chatter from the game to make you feel as if there was more going on around you.

The point is that everything feels like this could have been a new mode in an upcoming COD, sitting alongside of Zombie or Extinction. Nothing truly feels fresh or revolutionary. Nothing in the game gives anything to anyone that doesn’t have honed twitch reflects. Again, I may just be bad at games like this. Even so, it still didn’t change the fact I had no fun while playing. The Titans themselves, while cool at first, are a novelty that wears off after a few matches. They are nothing more than walking, bipedal tanks.

If you love COD and BF then your might enjoy this game. From what those types of players are says, it’s great. But if you don’t like twitch FPS or are burned out and the same rehashed and reused formula, then pass on this one.

Origin has the “Great Game Guarantee” which allows you to play for 24 hours and return it for full price. So if you’re on the fence about it, buy it when you have a solid 12 hours to dedicate to the game and really see if you like it. If not, then return it for full refund. That’s what I did.

The game gets started right away with a minimum amount of fuss and a very intuitive and streamlined tutorial, anybody familiar with any type of fps should feel right at home. I breezed through the tutorial and felt comfortable getting into the game immediately.

Playing my first game was a seamless experience, nothing overly complicated to get into a game with people and start shooting things, story was minimal, but I don't mind that when I know I'm getting into a game with the reputation for being a "parkour-shoot-em-up."

Graphics look great, no complaints there, my system had most of the settings on medium/high so if you have a rig that can go higher, you'll probably have no issues with that either.

However, the game play itself was haphazard. Attrition or holding hardpoints are the two of the main types of multiplayer, and I found myself running around and shooting at everything that moved without enjoying much of it. There was so much explosions and fanfare that I didn't have time to appreciate a really awesome shot or even enjoy the playing experience myself.

Maybe because I'm a gamer that requires a bit more substance, but this game's type of throw everything in your face at once and see how you handle it didn't appeal to me. It was like TF2 but with mechs. Completely insane and fun gameplay if you enjoy that sort of thing, but I did not.

I enjoy games where I know what's going on and can play strategically, this didn't feel that way. Perhaps it would have been better with a longer amount of playtime but I wasn't willing to risk 60 dollars for that. Returned it and am waiting a refund from EA's Origin system.

I'm glad I gave it a chance, but if you don't like shooters to begin with, this "revolutionary game" probably won't change much about that.

This game is simply amazing. I absolutely love the idea of bots running along with players. Although many do not like this, i hope they keep it in the next game. The parkour aspect of the game is the best thing in FPS gaming in a very long time. There is double jumping, wall running, and wall jumping. As soon as you get into that titan, you feel like a god. This is also the most balanced FPS game ive seen in a while. Its not like cod, because even if you have a bad weapon, the Parkour lets you get up close to surprise the enemy. As i stated earlier, the titans are very good, but if you know what you are doing, you can take them down pretty fast. You have a Primary, which is self explanatory, a secondary, which is also self explanatory, and a third weapon type, called an Anti-Titan weapon. These do extra damage to titans. As well as this, you can jump up onto the back of a titan and literally shoot its brains out, and the titan cannot shoot back. Although, if the titan has a smart pilot, they can get out of the titan, shoot you off, and get back in. Also, the requirements are relatively very small, which is always a nice bonus. There are many more good things about this game, although i will let you find out. The bad things are not really worth mentioning, as they are very small. There was a bug, at least for me. My gun was invisible, and my arms were glitched out and stretching everywhere and covering my screen. I could not see, and even when i got to and angle where i could, i couldn't shoot because my gun was gone. FIX: Go to your NVIDIA Control Panel, and switch it from automatically changing from integrated card and Graphics card to ONLY use the nvidia graphics card. This fixed the bug for me. Expand

First, I would like to clarify that my real rating is a 7.5 but I decided to round it up since a lot of people are being a bit too harsh on this game and giving it a 0 (games that deserve a 0 are horrible games that never deserved to see the light of day, not a game that isn't your cup of tea).

I would also like to throw this out there. I feel that this game was limited because of Microsoft and their demand that this be the MUST HAVE GAME for the Xbox One. That means that isn't a lot of content in the game compared to some other rivals (missing a true campaign that truly explains what is going on, only a handful of game modes, very few weapons and limited game mechanics).

This game is great for an Xbox One game. 6vs6 on that console is good since the console is pretty lacking (It's like the older brother of the Wii U). But for the PC...it can be a bit disappointing. The graphics are nice but they're not GREAT or AMAZING. It's not the kind of game that makes your rig flex its muscles. It's the game that's meant to be played by the masses (like WOW). Now for a game like WOW that's fine since those type of games are never about graphics, but FPS are the most eye candy games.

I feel that for the PC the graphics should have been much better and the maps should have been 125-150% larger with 10vs10 matches not 6vs6. I have no problem with enemy AI, I just feel that they need to be adjusted because they're simply too weak. Honestly, if anything I feel that they're just a distraction. They're the pieces of turd that are hiding the good stuff (pilots).

As for balance, I feel that the game is pretty balanced so far (but hey I've only played for like 90 minutes or so). This is the kind of game in which you can jump in for the first time and do some damage or simply get destroyed due to your lack of your surroundings (and inability to focus on the mini map to distinguish between AI and Pilots/Titans). For a console game, it's worth the $60 price tag, but for a PC game...I feel a bit ripped off. I think that it should be $40 or at most $50.

Now down to the point. Is this game fun? You can bet your rear end that it's fun. It's extremely fun and it makes you want to come back for more. I had to chose between this or MGS Ground Zero (PS4) and well I chose this game. I can see myself playing this game for around 100 or so hours (I only have like 20-22 hours in BF4 and somewhere around 40-50 in BF3). This game has been hyped but it's stable. I can actually play the game and don't have to worry about having my game crash or have some audio problems or graphical glitches or even lag due to poor programming.

    In a nut shell

    Pros:
    -Fun
    -Addictive
    -Simple controls (no complexity)
    -Mechanics simple
    -Noobs can have fun
    -Losing isn't that bad
-My blood doesn't boil due to getting killed from lag or some crap or having my game crash

    Cons:
-Was obviously made for the Xbone (bone box)
-Limited graphics for the year 2014
-6vs6...should be at least 10vs10 with maps that are 125% larger
-No legit campaign mode (A bit disappointed. The original COD PC games had fun campaigns that were worth playing)
-Limited physics (Titans should have the power to destroy buildings...Come EA!!! Let Respawn use that Frostbite engine. They'll put it to better use than Dice).

I was waiting for a game that would blow me away and break the oligopoly of Battlefield and Call of Duty. Here it is. Titanfall shows that online shooting does not have to be confined to contemporary battlegrounds. [05/2014, p.42]

In the mind-boggling question that tortures world's biggest gaming studios (how to refresh the competitive FPS genre), Respawn answers by taking the Call of Duty core, enhancing it with elements from various sources and franchises (Mech games, Crysis , Tribes, Mirror's Edge etc.) and forging it in the Old School mold (Quake/Unreal Tournament) . Titanfall does not innovate. It manages, however, to leave a fresh taste by balancing nicely all components of its gameplay.

Titanfall is a highly entertaining online shooter, but it's a bit light on content for a full priced game. You quickly start to realize that Titanfall could desperately use more maps, more unlockables, more upgrades and more customization. [Apr 2014]
