The game delivers what it promised, an immersive, fast paced, first person shooter. It's a fresh take on the genre with the introduction of map atmosphere, mechanized warfare, and intricate movement systems.

Definitely worth the try if you're into engaging shooters.

Honestly some of the most fun I've had in a FPS in a long time. If you have the hardware to max out everything (Intel i5-4670 and GTX 770 here) it is a very beautiful game as well when running at 1920x1080 60FPS.

I understand some of the complaints about lack of content for a single player mode, but most games like this basically are moving down this path. The single player with incredibly generic plot and reused ideas in the newest BF and CoD obviously show how unimportant they were.

There was a weird bug where the mouse twitched during the tutorial at times, but once I got into gameplay it was fine.

This game is refreshing, that's the best way to put it. It has aspects of Call of Duty, Halo, Counter-Strike, and Tribes... it's still early(content wise), but it's an amazing change in the FPS genre.

The story is non-existing(who plays a FPS for the story?).. but the genre is a nice modern/sci-fi setting, which really bring out the best in the modern war shooter as well as hitting the science fiction aspect with the Titanfall's.

The mechanics of every building being scalable(sp?) is one of the greatest addition to FPS mechanics in a very long time. After letting my roommate play, I watched and realized that habit(for everyone playing) is to stay on the ground like traditional FPS, but as you start to take advantage of the ability to climb any building, it gives a serious Tribes feel... the entire map is your playground.

People have complained about the repetitive nature.... Have you played ANY other FPS? Every FPS I have ever played.. ever.

The game is repetitive yes, but no different than any other FPS out there. Hop in a lobby, play a map you've played before, kill people. Titanfall is neither a positive or negative in this aspect... it's done nothing in my opinion to differentiate from the repetitive nature of other shooters, but it isn't any different than COD or Halo in this aspect.

Ultimately, the game is a fast pace shooter(fastest COD out there imo)... it has different game mechanics which make it unique(scaling any building, the Titanfalls themselves).

The game is not for everyone, but here's the type that I think will and will not enjoy it:

    Will:
Call of Duty players(Not the die-hards that live, eat, and breath anything that Activision throws at them, you'll never win the fan boys)
Counter-Strike players- As a former CS player that has played several other shooters but hasn't really been hooked on any of them), this is the closest I've come to that hooked feeling. True fast paced, shoot and kill gameplay.

    Won't:
Battlefield players- While I enjoy the BF series, it's a strategic shooter that has an emphasis on teamplay, this game is a run and gun where you can have success with or without your team.
COD Fanboys- There are people that feel like enjoying this game is a slight against COD in some way and it's amusing but ridiculous.

So I give it a 9 out of 10. If you enjoy fast paced shooters, you'll love this. Plain an simple. It's a return to the twitch based shooter. It's definitely the most fun I've had playing an FPS in recent memory.

Your pilot when not in a Titan allows some really cool maneuvers kinda like free running / matrix . You can also go invisible . Now if u see a Titan you can jump on it's back and rip its parts out and shoot it internally . So their not op tanks like bf for example.

Yes it may have features from cod / bf but it feels like its own game. I have played many hours of cs / cod / bf and it does feel fresh. This game has the competitive feel to it and may put casual players off. Prepare for ownage if you don't learn quickly.

Now it's servers are Asia pacific for Aussies 140 ping . Yet no lag is present or noticeable to ruin gameplay. I didn't even no till I saw the Ping meter .

And to clear things up the so called SP is really the MP it's kinda intertwined. To give a great online experience developers kinda have to .

No, this game is different. It is hard to describe the adrenaline rush that you are experiencing before game starts. The moment when I destroyed the opponent's titan with my bare hands for the first time was like jumping into a pool filled with cocaine. Never tried cocaine, and I don't want to, but this is how I imagine the feeling. I even sang "WHO IS THE F..KING WINNER" to the melody of "Drunken Sailor". And then I got killed for the 14th time. Damn it...

When I died - because an opponent had summoned his titan to fall directly on my head; and when I had fun unlocking new achievements; and when I was gaining upgrades I needed; and when I never get lost on the maps I've never seen before; I couldn't believe that developers could manage so many elements and don't break the balance of the game. You won't experience wandering, confusion in the upgrade system or very slow reloading of the magazine. Every single death is only your fault - you either didn't have a plan how to enter the battlefield or you missjumped from one rooftop to another. Even the HUD it made in such a way that it displays everything that we need to know at exact moment without distracting us from the real battle.

This game will crush you, and it does not forgive. But it also gives you a chance to survive more than 3 seconds without a headshot just after respawning. Some might complain that there are only 6v6 battles and, since maps are not that small, while running around we can arrive somewhere where nothing happens because the main fight is a bit farther. But such empty places are the only moments when we can stop and think about our next move - the rate of exchanging fire in the center of the field rarely gives us time for it.

And you have to think - this is not a single player game. The most important fact is that owning a Titan doesn't give you a clear advantage. Of course Mechs are more resistant and can smash the infantry with one stomp while firing a salve of missiles but the 'ants' are not defenseless.

Pilots not only have 'go-away-titan' weapons, but thanks to their mobility, can take advantage of a moment of distraction and jump onto the back of the battlemachine and eliminate it from the fight with a precise shot in the cables. Despite the physical advantage over the pilots, both "forms of life" are well balanced. This is not a choice between a better or worse chance of gaining new frags, but between two completely different ways of playing. In short - but not precisely - the player chooses between strength and firepower of a Titan, and the flexibility and mobility of a Pilot.

The choice isn't easy. The mobility is crucial to have a chance on the battlefield. When you play as a pilot you will discover that you have to learn a completely new way of moving around the map. This game is closer to Ricoshet from Valve than to BF or CoD. Jet belts gives you the possibility to double jump and to do amazing parkour tricks. The maps are so well-designed that there is always a wall to run on and surprise an enemy by jumping from above him. And even if you are on a certain map for the first time you will never feel lost.

You can feel that this game was designed for hardcore gamers, but - the "true gamers" now have to take deep breath - it doesn't smash newbies just because they had the courage to buy it and login. But don't get to excited, newbies - you will be smashed. But you will receive a few seconds of life more than when you first logged to CoD. Firstly - the aforementioned empty spots on maps. Secondly - disposable upgrade cards that will hide your weakness at the beginning.

The only reason why this game won't receive the highest note are the game modes. After all those new gameplays and tactics, Respawn Entertainment gives us old-fashioned Domination and Capture the Flag. It pains me that they didn't prepare at least one original game mode. Probably the game is supposed to become the new e-sport icon like it is CS 1.6, and that's why they didn't want to rewrite all rules from scratch but the bad aftertaste remains. And releasing new game modes as paid DLCs may discourage some players. Fortunately there are sites like kinguin.net where you can buy it cheaper than on Origin.
Now, if you'll forgive me, I'm going to send some Titans to the scrapyard.

Area where the game is lacking. I like Statistics and to look at the last round in more detail. To this end I would love to see replay saving and slightly more in depth post game analysis. Also adding a little more customization to different loadouts such as weapon attachments and more perks would be nice. But I feel like these are mainly polish to a core game mechanic that is exciting and an interesting take on a modern shooter,

Firstly, Titanfall's motion mechanics are insanely fun and satisfying, adding a whole new twist to how you can use a battlefield. Going back to Halo 4 and CoD Ghosts after playing this game made me realize just how much was added to the game by the jumpkit. When you are in a one-on-one fight, you don't have to strafe and duck and go prone--actually, there is no prone option anyway. IfFirstly, Titanfall's motion mechanics are insanely fun and satisfying, adding a whole new twist to how you can use a battlefield. Going back to Halo 4 and CoD Ghosts after playing this game made me realize just how much was added to the game by the jumpkit. When you are in a one-on-one fight, you don't have to strafe and duck and go prone--actually, there is no prone option anyway. If you were to do so, you would probably get thrashed in every pilot encounter. You have to think in terms of escape and elusiveness, jumping and wallrunning your way to safety and, hopefully, a good flanking position to get the kill for yourself.

The maps are all beautiful and lend themselves fully to a pilot's parkour approach. The gunplay is solid, and Titans feel strong but not godlike, as any pilot or other titan can kill you with a bit of work, while you retain the ability to dispense a quick and violent death to any pilot you find, so long as they don't get the drop on you, and a solid chance at taking out a few enemy Titans before you are blown apart. The incorporation of titans can really change the way even classic gamemodes play, and while there are only a few modes at launch, they all work rather well. I mean, if it ain't broke, don't fix it, right? The Titan's non-regenerative health system is a big help in leveling the playing field.

As for sound, the music and "announcers" are both excellent at setting and keeping a fast-packed, heat-of-battle mood that matches up with the frantic shooting that you'll be doing both as a titan and a pilot. The game's campaign mode was a nice surprise, adding needed depth to a really beautiful space-frontier backdrop while also making players work for those two extra Titan formats. Customization is simple as of yet, but gives enough variety--both on the Pilot and Titan sides--to let you really rework your gameplay the way you want.

The burn card implementation is an interesting thing, and when in the right hands an amped weapon or tactical package boost can be devastating. They can certainly change the balance of a match if utilized to their fullest extend, but the fact that they disappear after a death makes players think before using them and keeps them from being too overpowered. Thank the lord that you are limited to one card per life. Also, it's great that pilots get three weapons, their primary, secondary, and anti-titan guns, and also that anti-titan weapons are generally too slow to hit pilots. No more RPG noobs.

Now, the bad parts. While the Titan combat is very fun and pretty balanced, the maps, in my opinion, do not always give you much room to work with. I'd say that each map will have a slant towards either pilot or titan combat, but the titan-slanted ones still allow pilots to run and gun as they would, only requiring a bit more care to getting stomped or blasted. On a pilot-style map, titans are much more vulnerable due to smaller streets and alleys, along with taller buildings, giving pilots easy points to shoot at or jump onto Titans. This, coupled with the server malfunctions at launch, the occasionally broken scoreboards, the presence of very few tactical packages, the lack of diversity in gamemodes, and the lack of private matches and clans made me consider giving this game so low as a 7, love it as I do, but Respawn has voiced their dedication to expanding the game as time goes on and adding many of these things for free. With that assurance in mind, I'm much more comfortable giving the game a 9 and enjoying what's available right now for what it is; a very fun, incredibly beautiful, fresh-feeling fps in a market saturated by Modern Warfare's and their knockoffs.

To preface this review, know that I am someone who values depth above all else, I play grand strategies (mostly paradox games) more than any other genre followed by twitch shooter, ig Counter Strike, and this translates to how I play games and influences what I value in games. I will break this review down into several categories and give a congregate score and a score weighted towards my preferences.

Graphics: I thoroughly enjoy games which are presented in a graphically appealing fashion, Titanfall, while not ugly and somewhat stylized, isnt particularly impressive as it runs on the decade old Source Engine. I will give credit to Respawn where credit is due however, this is the best looking Source game that has eve been released, with this game, they have displayed that they have the potential to create graphically impressive games in the future.
    Verdict: 6/10

Sound Design: This game has an amazing score, the IMC theme being particularly impressive. The voice acting is impressive, is highly varied and does not become annoying after playing for long periods of time. Titan sound effects are varied and are great as well. The guns however, sound like BB guns, much like Call of Duty's weapons, this is extremely disappointing considering that this issue was brought up on Respawn's forums many times from the moment of Titanfall's reveal which leads me to believe the devs do not care about their fanbase.
    Verdict: 8/10

Story: Respawn has built a rich universe surrounding Titanfall, FPSs especially are known to be lackluster in term of lore which makes this all the more impressive. As well, over the past 3~ years, Multiplayer Campaigns have evolved incredibly. I am very disappointed at Titanfall's Multiplayer campaign as I had extremely high expectations of it. The story takes place across 2 1.5 hour campaigns, Narrative is conveyed through scripted events, pre-game set-pieces and dialogue between matches. Despite these being multiplayer campaigns, they are very linear and often, player actions feel worthless and failure is impossible. Not only was the story itself disappointing however, the characters also lacked, well, character. In the 3 hours of Titanfall's campaign, the player learns nothing at all about the characters and character development is nonexistent; This game being from the team which created Call of Duty 4 makes it all the more disappointing. If you buy Titanfall, play the single player campaign once for both sides, then never touch it again.
    Verdict: 3/10

Level Design: This game has the best level design I have seen in any FPS since Quake, hands down, it possibly exceeds Quake depending on who you ask. you have to play it to understand what i mean. The maps are well balanced between Titan and Pilot gameplay, my favorite maps are Nexus, Angel City, and Fracture; my least favorite maps are Rise and Lagoon.
    Verdict: 10/10

Gameplay: This is where Titanfall is at its strongest, the parkour abilities afforded to players, the titan-pilot interaction, and the gunplay are all superb. Never does a match of Titanfall feel boring ( I have played for 30 hours so far). I have never had as much fun with a modern FPS as I am having with Titanfall. Again, one must experience this to fully grasp its excellence.
    Verdict 10/10

Balance: Titanfall is highly balanced, only one weapon feels underpowered, and the rest of the weapons all fulfill their own, unique roles and no weapon outclasses the next in every situation. As they introduce more weapons into the game (they will according to their community manager), this balanced could be lost as Respawn has no experience with DLC/ Patch weaponry. Only time will tell.
    Verdict: 9/10

Content: While this game excels in what it does, what it does is very limited. This game only has 5 gamemodes, none of which are unique, and only a handful of weapons. Very disappointing to say the least. However, this game does have 15 maps at launch which is quite staggering. Decide for yourself if it has enough content for you.
    Verdict: 6/10

Polish: This game feels incredibly polished and fine-tuned. Everything just works and it has very few bugs (currently, the only known bugs relate to random frame dips on both PC and Xbox as well as minor graphical bugs) or exploits. The game was marred by some annoying server issues on launch day ,however, these issues were quickly addressed. Few games are this well polished at launch.
    8/10

Notes: This game costs $60 and thus might be too expensive for many PC gamers who like to buy games on the cheap. It is also exclusive to EA's horrible Origin service, a huge negative for some.

Closing Remarks: If you are someone who thinks that game mechanics and gameplay are more important than anything else, buy Titanfall.

    Unweighted Score: 7.5/10
    My Score: 9/10

If you value content quantity above all else, then maybe this isn't a game for you as it doesn't have as many guns as BF. However, it works better and has better FPS mechanics than BF and that's something that is much more important to me. I can't think of a single FPS released in the last ten years or so that was as good as this mechanics-wise and had BF amounts of content so I don't know why people were expecting that. It would be one thing if BF was a mechanically sound FPS with all of that content but it just isn't and you have to sacrifice gameplay for content which I'm glad they didn't. I've already gotten my $59.99 worth of fun out of this game. Haters gonna hate I suppose but I feel all the ratings of zero based on less content than BF are pretty unfair considering no game has as much content as BF and BF barely works anyway. Expand

Finally, a breath of fresh air. In a gaming world that has become stale with games such as COD plaguing the market with fifth graders screaming in your ear various insults regarding your mother's weight, Titanfall breaks the pattern and gives us what we all truly want from a first person shooter multiplayer game: hours of challenging, satisfying destruction.

When I heard that Activision and EA were teaming up to make this game, I was concerned. All we needed was the combination of COD's lack of creativity with EA's history of terrible launches. Fortunately, this was not the case. Titanfall launched with almost no issues, and the gameplay is FANTASTIC. The feeling of hearing your titan break the speed of sound and impact the ground like a meteor gives me chills every time. It also doesn't try to hard to shove meaningless customization options down your throat. Instead, the creators and designers took the time in stead to focus on Titanfall's main achievement: gameplay. No one titan is better than another, all the guns are nicely balanced, and there aren't any perks that give any one high-ranked individual a ridiculous advantage over the rest. This keeps it challenging even when you get to the higher ranks and, in turn, increases its replay value. But perhaps my favorite part of this game is the innovation of the thruster-pack (or whatever you want to call it). The ability to hang off of walls, double jump across vast distances, and wall run whilst shooting a sentinel in the face is truly the aspect that gives this game originality. I found myself consistently amazed with some of the things I was able to do in this game that looked like they should be straight out of some futuristic Bourne movie. This game gives both expert and novice players the ability to have balanced, exhilarating fun.

Perhaps the only flaw in Titanfall is its story. It barely has one. The creators did incentivize the player to play through it so that one could unlock the Strider and Ogre titans, but if they hadn't, I would imagine barely anyone would ever even touch the campaign. It doesn't have a coherent and easy to follow story. You have to really pay attention to what's being said in the background in the loading screens between missions. And the missions themselves are merely conquest and attrition matches. It has no discernible difference from the multiplayer besides a few small points here or there. Really the only thing good it does for the game is give the multiplayer maps some backstory, but that's it. Fortunately, this flaw is not one that is crippling to the game itself. At least it didn't try too hard to make some powerful, emotional story and fail miserably (we're looking at you Battlefield). In the end, this hickup does very little to impact the game in any negative way.

    Summary:
    Pros:
    - Balanced weapons/perks/titans
    - Refreshing environment
    - Innovative gameplay

    Cons:
    - Forgettable campaign

These opportunities do not diminish my enjoyment. The agility provided by the in-game movement is absolutely awesome and makes playing pilot thrilling. I hope this games shines for a long time. I don't remember the last game that gave me adrenaline pushes like that and feel that satisfied after less than expected endgame scores. Good times every games. Loosing and the get to the choppa epilogue is original and fun. Titanfall is great and hope it gets greater like it deserves.

I have put some 50 + hours into Titanfall as of now and feel that I should respond to some of the often valid criticisms that other reviewers have put forward.

It is true that the game takes up 50gb and that while being pretty enough it is not a visual miracle.

It's also true that the AI of the killable NPCs is terrible but this is on purpose so that they provide a function of being easily killable (giving much fewer points to the killer than killing another player or titan) and so that they populate the battlefield - this not only positively changes the feel of the game, it also makes the game available to new playstyles and makes it more accessible to new players who won't feel so left out, while not being able to make as many points as seasoned players.

There is an auto-aim pistol but it is more or less useless in fighting against other players and is primarily used against NPCs. This is a feasible tactic for any player but once again makes the game more fun for people who can't yet compete with the quick aim of a COD marksman.

The campaign is terrible and as far as I am concerned it is the only thing about the game that truly disappoints - every criticism written here I can happily agree with. Luckily the standard multiplayer modes are so much fun and the map count is large enough to make the campaign unnecessary. Given the amount of content I think that it's childish to be upset about the lack of a single-player campaign.

Apart from the multiplayer campaign the only other valid criticisms are with the inability to play private matches and as of yet no anti-cheat measures. Respawn promises to fix both soon.

The parkour movement and the addition of the titans make this game for me. It takes a while to get good at the parkour and it's hugely rewarding as you start flying around the battlefield, getting into advantageous positions against your opponents and running away from dangerous situations. Titans don't take a long time to learn well and provide a very different type of game from being on foot.

Overall I see how on first glance someone may be disappointed with this game, especially after being subjected to the extreme hype preceding its release, but giving the game an honest try (especially with friends), I truly don't understand how someone could give it a low score.

Titanfall is a breath - taking multiplayer FPS. This game's atmosphere is amazing. Fast-paced, constant battles makes you aware all the time. Pilot playing is fun but when you call a Titan then the party starts. I've never been a Mech fan but these titans are absolutely amazing when you playing them. If you tired of classic modern multiplayer FPS then Titanfall is truely a game for you..

However considering the games price it is lacking content and the Australian server have been unstable at times.

    PRICE!!!!!!

Now for the more in depth:
The game is so much fun with the wall runs and the jumps and the mantles etc etc, and that is very very smooth and it feels as normal as walking on the ground. The titans also feel very normal, its just as if youre on the ground, but instead of human size, youre giant. But where the game shines is in between these two. The balance between the two game play styles is so well thought out its damn near perfect. Any pilot can take on any titan, it may be dangerous, but its possible, and vice versa. If you want to just run on walls and play the game play CoD, well then do so! drop your titan in and make him follow and help you, or have him lock an area down! and speaking of titans, they are well made and balanced, with very few flaws about them, and the flaws are just annoying rather than gamebreaking. Now lets move on to the (kinda) cons.

Okay. So.. No singleplayer. Yeah, it sucks.. but honestly, if you bought this friggin game and thought there was single player then you deserved to lose your money, because Respawn said very clearly that there is no singleplayer. Now, that being said, its still unfortunate that its not included, but the multiplayer campaign really isnt that bad. Sure, its generic and not too creative, but in all honesty, isnt generic supposed to be good? Not to mention theres some REALLY cool parts of the game that are only shown in campaign. But alas, no campaign is still unfortunate, perhaps a DLC will include some kind of survival mode. Okay. Now to the graphics. Contrary to what people seem to say, the graphics are fine.. Are they next gen? No.. Are they "HOLY HELL THATS SO REAL"? No, theyre not. Theyre acceptable though, and theyre more than serviceable. Oh, make sure you actually go to the setting and change your texture quality, because im guessing half the people on here never did.
Okay, now the biggest problem of the game? The price. 60 bucks for a PC game? No. No PC game should ever be 60. At most it should be 50, and thats still too much. When you buy a digital copy of a game, you dont get a box, or anything that comes with it and that takes away from the price. This game might be worth 60 bucks, but it shouldnt be priced as so. Content does not affect gameplay, there are about 10 primary guns (or somewhere, i dont know for sure), and these guns are different enough to make you use each one, and never leave one behind and not use it. Its not that Titanfall doesnt have enough content, its that Call Of Duty has too much. How many times have you played CoD and only used a total of 8 different guns. Thats what i thought. Content is NOT a problem with Titanfall, and it should not be said that it is.

Oh, and while im thinking of it: people seem to complain about the bots. Well, imagine a 12v12 game of titans and then tell me that sounds fun, because it sounds awful. I think the Specters should do more damage, but hey, its not a big deal. The bots are fun, and they make the world feel alive. Its crazy to see a squad of grunts fall from the sky, and as they rush out of their pod, a giant pterodactyl monster flies down and takes one away.

    Conclusion:
The games worth 60 bucks, but shouldnt be priced as so, so wait for a sale or for it to drop to 40-50.
The game is intuitive, new, and smooth. The titan vs pilot is balanced, and its a seamless transition.
No singleplayer campaign, but honestly, if you didnt know there wasnt one, then why were you buying a game without looking at it first?
The online campaign is very generic, yet still fun and epic. I sometimes play it over classic modes simply because i like the story, however little of one there is.
Content is not a problem, guns are diverse, and you will use each one because you will need to.

You can tell the developers at Respawn put a lot of time and effort to create a well-balanced and fun shooter game for everyone. It's definitely become of the main games that I will be playing for the next few months. I mean the game really tries to make you feel good in every way possible. For people who are not too good at FPS, they can stack up XP points by killing AI-controlled soldiers and obtaining titans in that fashion. Basically, everyone has a fair chance of doing well in the game. There's really nothing that tips the scale one way or the other. They even allow you to escape the map on an evacuation ship if you are the losing team. In a way, if you (individually) do escape, you "win" as well. Anyways, it feels really great to jump on walls and buildings and get to the other side of the map in matter of seconds while destroying giant robots along the way with some easy AI kills.

Despite all the praise about the gameplay, I have to knock off a point for not having a great campaign mode or any sort of meaningful story line. All the components are there for a great story but they totally blew it on that part. I wish they had a single-player offline story mode that at least takes you through the story about why they are in a civil war and how titans were created to begin with. Other than that, it's a great multiplayer online FPS game with tremendous potential for the future. I see this game escalating into a franchise at the level of Halo and COD.

I play it on the PC and you will not have a hard time finding people for your match. I just played Capture the Flag mode all night and it was almost always 6 v 6 every game.

The only reason I declined to give this game a 10/10 would be the simple lack of content. After progressing 40 levels, I've found the same 15 maps and limited loadouts have begun to feel repetitive. I'm sure players out there have given up earlier, though many continue and prestige, so it's up to preference. Anyway, I think once DLC comes out, it should help. Overall, fantastic game, highly recommend for PC. Expand

From the first trailer that was released for Titanfall, I had this excitement that we we're finally going to get something, in my mind, that was new and refreshing. And, for the most part, I can safely say that Respawn have not disappointed.

I've been playing the game on the PC for about 20 or so hours so far without any major problems or quirks. The gun play feels great and is extremely responsive, while also having a lot of variety in the types of weapons. You have the normal assortment of assault Rifles, Submachine Guns, DMRs, Sniper Rifles and the really cool S.M.A.R.T Pistol that locks onto enemies and guides the rounds into their targets. The Titan gameplay also feels really refined and this is where the game shines. The mix between Pilots and Titans during battles, even with the lower 6 v 6 player count, makes for some epic moments as you bail out of your doomed Titan while being fired upon from different directions, getting catapulted into the air and then trying to hide or return fire. I've had some pretty awe inspiring moments so far.

If we look at the overall graphical and audio quality of the game, things look and sound quite good. The graphics, though not state-of-the-art by any stretch, get the job done when it comes to details on the Pilots and Titans. Pilots have great looking armor and suits that pending you're using the Insane Texture settings, look absolutely amazing up close. The Titans also look great when it comes to texture quality but also in the animation department. The animations in the game look incredible with the Titans acting like super-sized soldiers, moving left to right with virtually zero stutters.

Now, overall you have to look at the big picture and look at what kind of value this game offers. First off, the game does not have a Single-player mode so for some of those single-player fans out there, you're out of luck. All of the "Story" features have been seamlessly integrated into the multiplayer in the "Campaign" mode which is simply a combination of different games modes and maps with an added narrative at the beginning and end of a match. Game modes range from Team Deathmatch (Attrition), CTF, Domination (Hardpoint) and a Last Titan Standing mode, each mode calling for a different play style to be successful. The multiplayer also integrates a feature called "Burn cards" which are one time use abilities that grant you weapons, speed boosts, armor boosts and whatnot. Finally, customization is definitely key in this game with familiar create-a-class features coming from the Call of Duty series included for both your Pilots and Titans.

To really sum it up quickly, if you're a big fast-paced multiplayer fan looking for something a little different, give Titanfall a shot. Unfortunately, there will also be the people that will see the lack of any other modes apart from the mutiplayer as a weakness and a problem for longevity and that is who the game won't be for.

Next off, the mechanics. Wall-running, double-jumping, titan-riding and Spectre-hacking all put their own spins on the gameplay and make it differentiate from the common "CoD with mechs" stereotype of onlookers.

Balance. Whether you are in a Titan or running as a Pilot, you stand an equal chance in battle. Everything balances each other out so you don't feel like there's cheap deaths. Subtle, but fantastic.

Now, the cons. Honestly, I only have a few.

The price. While I got this game 20% off in an Origin Spring Sale, I still think $60 is a bit steep. Go deal-hunting for Titanfall instead of paying full price.

Two minor things: I wish there was the ability to vote on maps and rename custom Titan and Pilot loadouts. One of the biggest gripes I see has been resolved: there's private matches now!

Titanfall is great. Each time you play, you're presented with fresh and diverse challenges and you'll have an awesome story to tell from each and every match. Pick it up, and enjoy.

In the mind-boggling question that tortures world's biggest gaming studios (how to refresh the competitive FPS genre), Respawn answers by taking the Call of Duty core, enhancing it with elements from various sources and franchises (Mech games, Crysis , Tribes, Mirror's Edge etc.) and forging it in the Old School mold (Quake/Unreal Tournament) . Titanfall does not innovate. It manages, however, to leave a fresh taste by balancing nicely all components of its gameplay.
