It makes you look at humanity in a different way with each play through, not just the harsh and unforgiving humanity that exists in the zombie apocalypse, but the harsh and unforgiving humanity that exists around us in the world we live in now.

This is perhaps the most heartbreaking and tense episode of anything Telltale has ever made. How Clementine braces for the impact of everything in front of her is up to you -- and where that takes her left me in awe.

No Going Back delivers a satisfying conclusion to the season, while still leaving the door open just enough to keep you guessing at what comes next. Your bond to Clementine, and to the new and old characters from this season, feels as strong as ever in the final episode. Just keep in mind that nobody makes it out of Season 2 unscathed.

The ending is finally here and it was worth the wait. With five different endings your decisions really matter. It is amazing to have that choice and to be able to look into your own heart for the ending that your Clementine deserves.

No Going Back does more than caps it off with aplomb; it drags the rest of it up by its braces and recasts it as something much more than the sum of its parts.
  7. No Going Back is a perfect title for The Walking Dead finale. This finale gets you reflecting about who Clementine really is and how you’ve shaped her.

The soundtrack is still quite good and the voice acting is impressive for almost all characters.

If you’re still holding out for season two, do yourself a favor and pick it up. It’s a tragic, surprising and entertaining ride.

No Going Back provides not one, but three fitting ends to The Walking Dead's second season, each one satisfactory - and saddening - in its own right.

It started nervously, almost scared of what it was, but at the end of season two, you’ll go to whomever you hold dear, and you’ll squeeze them just that little bit harder than usual. They’ll ask you why, and you won’t answer. There’s a little girl to be saved.

As this is the last episode in the season, it does feel like you’re finally being given some freedom to make impactful decisions.

A suitably powerful finale that solidifies Telltale's mastery of the genre. It remains to be seen whether or not they can diversify their gameplay enough in order to make a third season of the Walking Dead a viable and vital addition to gaming, instead of a Las Vegas type one-trick pony. If anyone can pull it off, it's Telltale.

No going back is the right ending for the second season of The Walking Dead, and it succeeds in delivering a Clementine that's really the player's character.

Telltale has once again left me thinking and longing, and I hope they make these endings mean even more in the future.

No Going Back is a fitting end to the second season of The Walking Dead. It's well written, expertly paced, and comes to a conclusion that is surprising, distressing, and pays a clever homage to Season One...But therein lies the rub: Season Two is good, and great at times, but it never reaches the lofty heights of its predecessor.

A very good ending of an overall weaker second season. Dialogue and human conflict remain one of the strengths.

No Going Back is a worthy ending to a strong season. In the final episode you’ll leave a few memorable characters behind. Since you’ve made a lot of choices along the way, that’ll be a lot of personal goodbye’s. The narrative is of high quality, the interactive part not so much. Luckily, The Walking Dead continues to impress, even without having to press any buttons.

The last chapter of the second season of The Walking Dead closes at a great journey that lasted about five months and highlights how Telltale has become able to provide a great experience with this franchise.

We feel it isn't as good as the first season, but we really enjoyed it and we loved all the consequences to our decisions. Looking forward to the third season.

This ending represents a closure either for the present and the past of The Walking Dead, but leaves a door wide open for the future of the game.

Clearly one of the best episodes of this season, with various satisfying and different endings.
  23. It’s not as moving as the first season finale, and it doesn’t tie things together in a satisfying narrative knot the way the preceding season did. But it’s still compelling, thanks largely to its unflinching and sometimes disturbing depiction of no-win situations. Telltale Games refuses to let Clem or the player off easy.

It is with this finale that it’s clear that - despite so many similarities - this has been a very different season from the first. With Lee we had one goal: keep Clem safe. And whatever we did, as Lee, the end was pretty much a forgone conclusion. Not so, here.

No Going Back is a quality episode, yet it fails to be as memorable as Season One’s ending, despite some intense and heartbreaking moments.

No Going Back struggles to build anticipation for a conclusion that is clear from the outset, but once past the point of no return, the final episode ramps up to an exciting choice-driven conclusion with five different endings.

This new season of TWD is not emotional, intense and grieving as the first one. The last episode shuts the story in an interesting way, but there has been too many flaws in the previous chapters.

A bunch of flat characters ruin a series of great decisions, moral choices and paths. The First Season is still the best game TellTale Ever made, but season two shows some sparks of greatness that could ignite a big season three.

This messy ending is an appropriate way to wrap a season that evolved into a morality play loaded with grim, philosophical musings about what it means to be a human being, whether you're struggling to survive in a zombie apocalypse or simply learning how to get by in the real world.

Telltale's first season of The Walking Dead felt like a desperately needed breath of fresh air. The Walking Dead Season 2 Finale treads tepid, zombie-infested water. Even in its most meaningful moments, it's a mere approximation of what Telltale has proven itself capable of.

The way Telltale is able to manipulate your emotions so easily is astonishing, so it makes it all the more disappointing the rest of the episode doesn’t come together as well as it could have.

When describing the 3rd episode of the season, In Harm’s Way, I compared Telltale to a maniac who lives to torture his victims. No Going Back only reinforces this impression.

The writing remains generally strong, especially when it comes to giving players the illusion of control in their big dramatic dialogue choices.

The most condemning thing we can say is the dream reminded us of everything missing in the episode; if only we cared as much as Lee and Clementine used to care about each other.

The first Telltale finale where your choices carry true weight, but the inconsistent and contrived characterisation means it comes at considerable cost.

It's not just about making hard choices, but watching humanity come loose. With beautiful imagery and heart wrenching conflicts, Telltale has knocked the ball out of the park. They have reminded us that apocalypse isn't about the physical breakdown of society, but witnessing the delicate threads which hold human beings together come apart. The people, including Clementine have nothing left to hide behind, as they try to survive by any means possible, however dear the cost. In a sense, they have turned into zombies, mindless and selfish, without the actual death and disease. The plague which riddles their hearts is what makes them the real zombies, The Walking Dead.
