Exciting medieval battles with few but specialized heroes in a varied solo campaign, no base building.

The Valiant is a good low-scale battle strategy game: despite a deep learning curve, the core experience works well and the satisfaction builds the more the campaign goes on.

What it boils down to is, we have seen this game before. Be it as WW2 soldiers or Orc stomping space marines, this is an experience that has been around for quite some time now. That being said, The Valiant is still a welcome addition to a genre that is currently underserviced. It has been put together by a talented team that knows exactly what they are doing and as a result, have created a game that fans of the genre will undoubtedly enjoy. The Valiant won’t change the world, but it will entertain its target player base for some time to come.

The newly created universe of The Valiant is rich with a seemly minimalist but really solid gameplay on mission. A rocking action-strategy production which deserves that you look after it.

The Valiant is still a solid, compelling and, above all, enjoyable tactical strategy game that comes highly recommended for fans of Medieval action.

The Valiant has a good set of mechanics, although less innovative than they seem initially, and a decent story, hitting all the notes that you expect from the premise and setting. The single-player campaign delivers enjoyable tactical puzzles. Players who love the mechanics have the option to engage in players-versus-player and players-versus-environment matches. But the game never tries to push its idea forward. There’s nothing here that has not been done in other contexts or with slight variations. The Valiant is a good squad-focused strategy title but KITE Games should try to introduce more innovation to their next project.

A simple but engaging action tactics game with solid presentation and a neat setting that’ll easily make you want to take up your sword and go questing.

Overall, The Valiant offers an engaging strategy experience that, while not offering anything ground-breaking, will keep RTS fans entertained. While the single-player campaign is presented in a traditional run-of-the-mill format, its multiplayer modes are sure to delight both old and new strategy fans. For that reason alone, the game is worth picking up.

The Valiant is a decent enough game. It most likely won’t amaze you, especially if you’ve played other small-scale RTS games before, but its campaign is the right amount . And if you’ve liked Dawn of War 2 in the past, you’ll feel right at home.

Valiant tries to surprise with its crusade setting and multiplayer modes, but it has serious narrative problems and a gameplay approach that doesn't feel fresh in any way. Throw in a lot of crashes and lag, and the result is rather hard to recommend. [Not recommended]

What a trashy unbalanced game you only have a few soldiers (only 5 squads most of the time) and you have to fight huge armies that spawn outWhat a trashy unbalanced game you only have a few soldiers (only 5 squads most of the time) and you have to fight huge armies that spawn out of thin air so many stupid limitations and the micromanagement is just horrible. Gameplay reminds me of some old games from 1995, but this is far worse and the lacking of tactical pause, and you can't manually save makes everything a pain. Completely unplayable after a mission where the game throws veteran armies against you in a timely manner, and you have to defend a tree. Horrible gameplay made for masochists. Full Review »
