I will give it a 3 just because it is fun WHEN you can play. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the game(s) and origin client 20 times since I bought it. Keep it minimized and you may be ok, but DO NOT shut it off. They have me being timed out of the forums now so I cannot complain.

The game is fun and interactive. It gives you the feel of being in a real world. I think it would be more fun for someone new to the sims because I miss sims 3. I like it.
The only thing that bothers me are 2 things :

    - You have to buy every fcking DLC
    - Some Mods (which are actually pretty good) require paid membership (modding websites) what's so stupid

Since i didn't paid for it, im completly fine with it. But buying it for real € is waste. Get it cracked from fitgirl or some other repackers and you're good to go.

Sims 4 is a huge step forward in the mechanics of the game and the a.i. of the sims, everything feels more natural and immersing compared to sims 3 which is beginning to age and feel very clunky.

I love how each sim feels very unique and actually have a personality, if you give them certain traits their personality and choices reflect that without your input unlike sims 3 where every sim felt like exactly the same and required your input to progress them.

I love that the neighborhood is segmented into different areas so the game overall runs extremely smooth and my fps never drops even if their is a huge party with tons of sims. My load screens only last 3 or 4 seconds so no complaints about that.

I am extremely hopeful that Maxis will introduce expansion packs to expand the seasons and the generations so I can watch my sims grow up and go to school live an entire life cycle, that's the only thing that the game is missing in my opinion.

Sims 4 is a huge step forward in the core mechanics, graphics, and A.I. but it also lost all of its previous expansions and content but the game will continue to grow and improve with time.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Expand

First I was sceptic when my thirteen year old daughter asked me if she could have the game. It`s a lot of fun, teaches you responsibility, and it's also extremly funny at some times. Dying is shown comically, and one of the best things is that People can come back as ghosts ;), and the word Sex itself is never used, but is referred to as Woho, messing around or trying for a baby, which is also the only way a Sim can get pregnant. I think it's harsh that some critics say there is violence in the game. There is no blood, nothing is broken and (my personal feeling) fights are extremly rare and again, look comic.
Final Word: Sims is a great game for kids from the age of twelve or more, and don't hesitate to let you or your kids buy it!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Expand

The only con for me, is that it doesn't have open world and cars. But everything else is great and fun! I doon't really get the people that are just complaining and complaining. A very addictive game. Maybe it isn't as good as the previous Sims releases, however it is definitely worth a play.
However, the base game doesn't come with much content, and if you want the full game experience, you have to pay hundreds of dollars for all the expansion, game and stuff packs they release. While they are worth getting if you play the game lots, they are really overpriced.

Different skills and activities are also very poorly balanced - among the creative skills writing is basically a money printing license while music is basically useless even though they take similar amounts of time and effort. This really limits what your sim can do if you're aiming to be as successful as you can. Of course, there's also the trait system which can turn your sim into a perfect inhuman cyborg with no needs beyond fun and bladder in relatively short order.
If you're not a fan of The Sims I would not recommend starting now. If you are you're probably already playing this so whatever.

I made a mistake of buying the horrible version of The Sims 3 on a console and traded it in quickly. I hated the limited lot space,I hated having a load screen in-between visiting different areas, and I especially hated the world map. When the free to play version came out, I knew we were going to get that crappy experience and I was right! The small lot space and loading in between areas are just horrible and a HUGE step backwards! There's hardly anything to do this time around(I know it's a base game), for every good new feature they added, they took away 10 important ones we had before! The world map is just sad! I feel like they spliced the console version, the free to play version,The Sims 2,not much of the Sims 3 and just said lets go for it! I do believe The Sims 4 has potential to grow with expansions in the future like it's predecessor, I don't however think I'll be doing anything more than creating characters for the time being. Call it buggy all you want, but the Sims 3 will remain the better game. I'd even choose 2 over 4 and it's old! I'm not looking forward to any of the DLC we will have to pay for either! The biggest problem with this game is that there is no reason to buy it instead of The Sims 3 with it's expansions. It's stripped down and a dreadful step in game making. No.

Gone is the open world, Gone is the Create-A-Style, Gone are the Law Enforcement, Business, and Medical careers, Gone Is the story progression that let other sims get married, have children and live their lives, the 5 personality traits from the previous game are down to 3, Gone are toddlers...

    It's all gone.

Technically, it's proficient. It gets the job done and I ran into almost no bugs or glitches during my playtime of the game. The game runs well, but since only one lot is rendered at any given time, that's not really an accomplishment. The interface is streamlined and more efficient, but since most of the features are missing, I don't suppose there was a lot to even put on there in the first place. Graphically, I suppose the Sims look slightly better, but a slight graphical improvement doesn't justify repackaging everything and telling us to start over.

Save your money, stick with the Sims 3, which is cheaper, better, significantly more fulfilling.

I was so happy when I got this game. When it was done downloading, I like **** my pants. Then when I found out it was awful I wanted to cry. My grandparents spent like 90$ (with tax) on this game, and it sucked.

The only reason I am giving it a 1 is because I love the character maker. That is ALL I like about this game. The controls are hard and annoying. Please, make like, a new one or something. - The lack of lag is great, it is just unfortunate that one of the best features of the Sims 3 is what caused it to begin with (colour wheel and textures meant that the game had to generate more image files and save them, which clogged up the RAM).

Overall I'm happy with this game, primarily since it doesn't lag on high-end machines like the Sims 3. The only real downside I've found so far (35hrs in game) is that the tutorial pop-ups can't be turned off.

    > Removed open world
    > Expansions are split between Expansion Packs, Game Packs and Stuff Packs. None and I mean NONE OF THEM give the amount of stuff Sims 3 gave. In fact many of them give WAY LESS.
    > No cars, just teleporting.
    > Neighborhoods are small and BORING
    > The lifetime rewards are just plain broken.
    > CAS has no color options
    > Lack of good jobs
    > Things that were free in last games ended up coming as updates later proving it was unfinished
    > Game is stripped of all it's content in base game
    > More game breaking glitches than ever. Lots of the time I find my sim stuck next to beds.
    > Terrible graphics at many places
    > Basic Sims features that are missing from this game
    > Load screens everywhere
    > Much less life states
    > Pets are uncontrollable...
    > Cats and Dogs. 40 Dollars for just Cats and Dogs. Sims 3 Pets gave you WAY MORE than just that including controllable animals, horses, stray animals, raccoons, small pets, etc.
    > Over priced DLC especially compared to what Sims 3 offered on every expansion and stuff pack.
    and so many more problems.

The base game had me playing for only 10 hours before dropping it. Sims 3 had me on for weeks. There isn't even that much to do in Sims 4 and if it is, it's the most boring thing ever.

This is basically Sims 2.5. It's not even good enough to be 4 and even with all the DLC included, it's still a boring game especially compared to 3. I mean this game was like it was made with 2004 standards with somehow less content and more to pay for. The only people I'd recommend this game to is people with low end PCs. That's all it's for. Everyone else might as well skip over this and go back to grabbing 3 or 2.

This review deals with my building experience, rather than with the gameplay - hopefully this will help other builders who are thinking of buying the game.

As an avid Sims fan with my own dedicated website, I was very eager to receive a copy of the Sims 4. I'm mainly a builder and was looking forward to being able to create stunning homes using what I hoped would be, some brand, new tools to work with. How disappointed I was!

Firstly, the foundations - If you want a foundation on your house, it applies to the entire lot, whether the parts are joined to the house or not. I sometimes like to build a fake garage or a little garden shed, but now I can't as they all end up with the same foundation as the house! Also, you can't make the foundation match the walls any more, you just have to pick from the feeble choices of foundation patterns they provide. It's also very difficult to join fences to the foundations - you have to build walls where you want the fences to be and then apply a fence to the walls.

Secondly, you can't delete floor tiles, just entire floors. I like to make my landing areas inside the house interesting and for that I need to be able to take away parts of the floor. Not any more I can't! They say there are ways around this, but they all make weird things happen when you try them. Sometimes the roof comes down into the house etc. There is a sledgehammer tool, so you can build a mini room where you want to delete the floor, then you use the sledgehammer to smash the floor and delete the tiles, but as soon as you delete the walls, the floor comes back! I have searched for hours for a solution/workaround for this, but just come across many people having the same issue with no way around it. However, you can make the foundations different heights, which is a definite improvement.

Thirdly, there is NO pattern tool! You receive a paltry amount of content that you can't do anything with, so everyone's houses all end up looking the same. One of the things I loved about the Sims 3 was how highly configurable everything was, even the Sims themselves. This, IMHO, is a definite step back for the game.

There are 2 carpets, both the same colour, with little pattern difference. Unless you want to download tons and tons of custom content, your Sims houses are going to be very boring affairs. I can't even select different bedding for your beds, you just have to be happy with the bed sets they provide.

I'm not sure if this is something I haven't figured out yet, but if I want 3 or more sets of stairs next to each other and I want to have railings at the side, I can't - the railings appear between each set and I can't just add them to each end.

Annoyingly, the moveobjects on cheat doesn't work in this game. That means I can't move objects where I want any more. :(

There are one or two improvements that I like - one is that you can move your entire house if you need to, and now your roofs can all have different patterns.

There were several more things that I wasn't happy with, but these are the main bugbears. For game sequels, you need to add features, not take them away! I'm just happy they listened to people and brought back the pools after doing away with these, too, initially!

I'd give the game a solid 9 but value only gets a 3. This is by far the most stripped down base game yet. I think EA is going for the jugular this time. If this amount of content goes for $60 the what will a dishwasher cost? TS3 was bad enough, this game will be an even bigger money pit. Expand

I am also hoping a little more creativity from the party events , e.g, sims are able to do certain things on a wedding ( such as guest making speech, walk down the aisle ), they can vomit , can dance on the counter , can be picked up by a limo, can drink drive and got busted ,I also really miss the

Most of what they have is good: buildling tools, create-a-sim, emotions.

But there's just so little in the game- teens are identical to adults, cutting out toddlers, etc. They did so much to cut corners rather than make a game that feels complete.

I give a rating of +1, 0, or -1 in each category and every game starts at a 5 out of 10. I want to state in the very start of this review that I am not comparing The Sims 4 to any previous installment in the series however I will talk about new things it has added to the series. I am not biased for or against The Sims 4 and EA; I am doing this as a professional review not a biased one.

To start off, The Sims 4 is the definition of a make your own story kind of game, it allows you to make your own character, make your own house, and essentially make your own story. The slogan for The Sims 4 is "Smarter Sims, Weirder Stories" and that is exactly what we were given. The Sims 4 introduced multitasking, smarter autonomy, emotions, and more individualized skills. They have also added many new ways for Sims to interact and to live their life including dying from hysteria and becoming so inspired they create a masterpiece. EA delivered on their promise for smarter Sims and weirder stories, for these reasons I give the Story category a +1.

It is very easy to give a rating to the Multi-Player/ Cooperative category for this game simply because it does not have, does not need to have, and was never meant to have a multi-player function. I will not penalize a purely single player game for not having a multi-player therefore I give The Sims 4 a 0 in this category.

Their is a lot of debate and negative feelings towards The Sims 4 and do not worry readers, I share some of the same convictions as you do. However I must acknowledge the creativity that EA has pulled off in creating this game. The amount of depth that is included in the create-a-sim mode is astounding, they have basically revolutionized character creation by simply removing sliders and giving you complete control of your creativity. They have also created an interesting graphics engine that sort of goes along with the whole weirder stories thing they got going on. I like the direction they tooke with this game in terms of creativity and I have to give it a +1 in Creativity.

Now lets get down to the nitty gritty, Entertainment and Replay Value. The Sims 4 is entertaining, that is a fact, however is it $60 worth of entertaining... definitely not. The Sims 4 has the same core game play that players have loved for around a decade however it takes away some of the features that made the previous games so great such as an open world, the ability to change the colors of objects and clothing, and the ability to call services to make your sims' life easier. The lack of colors and customization to choose from leaves the player feeling detached from their creations and not fully taking on the role of their sim. This game has stirred up a lot of controversy and pissed off a lot of dedicated fans and they have good reason to be pissed. EA took away great game play mechanics and included barely enough content to make the game worth $20 let alone $60. Overall if I was describing the Sims series in general I would give it a +1 in Entertainment Value but we are talking about The Sims 4 so I have to give a -1 for its frustrating lack of customization and the annoying amount of loading screens the player must deal with just to leave his home. Along with this comes it replay value, which yet again The Sims franchise provides TONS of but The Sims 4 falls short. I have to give The Sims 4 a -1 for Replay Value due to the lack of content and the closed ended game that they have created.

Overall due to the above factors I must give The Sims 4 a 5 out of 10. Personally, I do not recommend the game as it is now, for me to wholeheartedly recommend it there must be a significant price drop or a whole **** ton of free content for the base game. I am a huge fan of The Sims franchise and this was a huge disappointment to me, I wish I could say it was worth it but it just wasn't.

Careers seem dumbed down compared to the last version. Non player characters, instead of interacting, it seems like they are just sort of parading by.

I'm sure they will be adding many of these missing features as paid DLC, but that itself is offensive. The base game should at least be enjoyable. In it's current state, it is not.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The game is so inconsistent. In many ways. Some features are so polished while others are just there. I'm not talking about obvious missing features like toddlers, open world, cast, etc. I can play my style without them. But sims themselves. Sometimes I feel that connection trait-action-emotion doesn't exist at all. And sometimes I think 'Oh, that's a nice touch!'. Other problem is that game shows steps to reach a goal. I'm more or less OK with goal-oriented play, but knowing what exactly I get if I do this and that in advance kills desire to reach that goal. No surprise element. Another huge problem to me is inconsistency through game life-cycle. One would wonder what else will be broken after a patch. You start to play a sim who wants to become a friend of the world and the next patch break social status' system of the game.
CAS and multitasking are the only absolute positives to me. I have mixed feelings about all other. Emotions for example could be great. But they are so unbalanced that they become meaningless. Building is awesome but why all my whole lot has to have same foundation height. And it's too easy to make simoleons and there's not enough ways to spend them. Price which you could sell fruits of high quality is ridiculous. A blueberry for 6 900 simoleons... There are so many other things that neither good or bad. So it's a game that I bought but wish I spent my money on different things.

And while the performance is good with few crashes, the fact that only one lot can be active in the part of the neighnorhood that your sims is in.

This greatly disappoints me as your neighbors houses are inactive unless you visit them personally, I feel that other sims living in your part of the neighbothood should be active inside their own houses. This is step a bit too far. The game should be able to have more than one active lot just to give more essense of life other than sims wandering the street. I hope a future update make this so.

I am glad the game has bars and mixology, this helps gives my sim to visit a pub and socialise with the patrons, it's just the nightclubs need improving on. Seeing many sims in the background does give a sense of a active neighborhood, such as being at the park and seeing sims jogging on by. Sim interaction and mood is a major plus, interactions are unlocked depending on your sim's mood if they are feeling frustrated or playful.

I tried writing a review to be not so biased coming from playing the sims 3 with all the expansions, and the sims 4 does feel empty in many areas, I hope the game does receive the updates that are needed.

The first thing I notice was that the loading screen was quicker than The Sims 3 and I figured that that was some improvement. The next improvement was the interface. It looked beautifully sharp and was no doubt an upgrade to its counterparts but that's when I realize that the Sims 4 is just another SimCity (New One). With all of its improvement it seems to me that they dispose so many great aspect that made its counterpart so popular. The Sims 4 is a dumb down version of The Sims 3 believe it or not. Yes, the way your Sims act (emotion wise) is more 'real' than The Sims 3 unit but that's barely an improvement that could had easily been implemented on The Sims 3. Also, don't expect global view. Why? Because it's not there anymore. Another thing to not expect is color customization. Yes, you read it, no more creativity on how different you can make your avatar look. There are only a few things that The Sims 4 has really improve on. One as I mention before, is emotions and the way your avatar interacts with other Sims. Two, the way you build homes and how easily you can turn a box into a glorified piece of art. Last but not least, interfaces and loading time. And just to point out why it loads so fast is because there's no more global view and what I mean by that is, rather than seeing your Sim drive to the local gym or the local dance club, you get a beautiful loading screen instead. Oh yeah, did I also mention that you are limited to where you can live? Maybe this is just for now but it doesn't excuse the fact that you're limited to how your Sims can live. Overall, this version of The Sim is just a big disappointment. Wait until it goes on sale, gets improved updates, or have some type of bundle with extra DLC's because for a full $60 or $70 for the deluxe edition, it isn't worth it. The Sims 4 is meant to be played with medium-end performance, meaning most modern computers should be capable of running it without having to get high-end graphic card or CPU in comparison to The Sims 3 (If you want to run it without much difficulty). And if you do happen to like this version of The Sims, more power to you but this isn't my cup of tea. Expand

To put it simple, EA are up to their old tricks again. My fiance (Sims enthusiast) told me that EA made the Sims 4 smaller than the Sims 3 to allow owners of a laptop to have the same experience. So with that being said i understand why its limited. But its inexcusable. This game is too empty and not satisfying enough to be a successor to the Sims 3. And charging full price for expansions with DLC that should have been in the base game will not make things right. The ability to do two things at once, model character faces and build houses with my detail and ease are some fine additions to this sequel, but not enough of an addition to make it acceptable. The Sims 4 gets thumbs up for its Sim character additions, such as the moods, although they do change too frequently.
Overall, not bad for a Sims game, but not worthy to call a sequal to Sims 3. Expect tp keep your wallets open for EA to dig their hands in and take all of your money, just so you can have a dog, swimming pool and the occasional rain. Things that should already be in the game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I have two works to describe my feelings towards this game; not satisfied.
I was itching with anticipation for the Sims 3 but the results were disappointing, especially considering I'm not a video games person and the one game that I am excited for, that I save up for, that I just cant wait for was a complete waste of time and money.
The house building and create-a-sim aspect of it, PERFECT. If only they had of directed their brilliant thinking and creativity to some other aspects of Sims 4.
The major let downs for me are:
    1) The camera angle- Being a major fan of The Sims 3 conditioned me to be accustomed with the camera angle flexibility. Sims 4 dished up a stiff and awkward camera ange which constantly frustrates he heck out of me!
    2) Inability to explore the world- This new feature makes me feel extremely restricted. I'm forced to go wherever my Sim is going, I may as well be a sim myself.
    3) The deathly loading screen- What were they thinking? Watching your fat Sim attempt to run all the way to the park was half the fun. I think this feature is a drag, it strips away the feeling of realness to the game and is a blatant reminder, 'oh that's rights its a game.' It really just ruins the consistency in the flow of sims.
    4) SWIMMING POOLS- why EA? Why would you take away my ability to watch my sims drown!

To sum up, I think the new Sims offers nothing but a mundane, day-in-day-out lifestyle for your sim/sims. The game is tasteless and unappetising. I am going to be sticking with Sims 3.

Really not an awful game, just not as much control over Build/Buy stuff like in TS3. The Sims themselves are much more interesting to create. There are aspects of the game I like: Create-A-Sim (once you get used to it); some of the new careers ; definately the ability to follow your cop, doctor, or scientist on the job. Maybe even getting to choose their walk( though it is affected by mood). The chance to run your own retail business seems interesting (but you need so much money to do that, it seems like an impossible dream). But in many ways the actual gameplay feels like a step backwards. The Sims 3 has a much more free-flowing feel to it. And the ability to move anywhere in your town (and watch them do so) feels far better than having to sit through load-screens whenever you go past the end of the block. I wish some of the innovations had been added to The Sims 3, via one of the many updates. I much prefer The Sims 3 and will probably stick with it. I do like that Aspirations are not set in stone (unlike Life Time Wishes) and that you can give them new Aspirations when the have completed their currant one; or change easily at any time. But on the whole I am rather disappointed with the entire feel of the game. It feels more like The Sims 2, with a few innovations. Which is a shame. Expand

I pretty much never review games, started to do so recently. But I hate to review this game as 5 because it is technically great game, but has so many limitations without DLCs that it feels empty, and now much to do. Why are there only parks gyms nightclubs and museums to visit? Seems like a lot places could have been easily made with editor, like restaurants, cinema, amusement park, cmon, where is your imagination? Graphics are good but Loading screens everywhere.
Game had poor support from what I read in other replies and frankly makes me sad.

I love this game. This is my first The Sims PC game, I don't know why so many people hate it?. I have found the other The Sims PC games a bit hard but this is easy to pick up and play. There should be a console release, It's less detailed than other games in the series but still a good game especially to start out with the sims games

It's not a bad game, But way too expensive

The base game it self is OK, i spent hours on end playing it and it was decent But if you expect to have fun without paying here and there, it's definitely Not going to last very long.
if you'll consider buying expansions and modding the game will be playable

The Sims 4 has been a disappointing experience for an older simmer like me that saw this franchise getting bigger and bigger everytime a new game was released. Newbies will never understand because they never saw how good the older games are and don't even bother to try because it's old technology.

First, it gets rid of the open world and Create-A-Style present in The Sims 3. Second, the game was missing a ton of content at launch including pools and toddlers which is all content that should be in the base game. Despite the launch, this game in The Sims franchise has to have the worst DLC, the game is oversaturated with stuff packs and most of the other packs, expansion and game packs, don't add much noteworthy to the game either. Even though the updates have added necessary content, there is some additions that have annoyed me during gameplay: mostly the monster under the bed and death notifications. Fortunately, this game does make building easier, but it also isn't clear on how to place foundations on your household, something very easy to do in The Sims 3. Also, the Create-A-Sim mode has improved greatly and the emotions system, although too easily manipulated, is a great addition. Although the game is much better since its launch, The Sims 4 still has to be the worst game in the franchise. At this point, I'm ready to move on from this game and I'll instead play the previous versions as they were more fun, had more content, improved on the gameplay with expansions and don't annoy me with unnecessary gameplay additions from new updates. The Sims is one of my favorite video game franchises and it's very unfortunate that this game in The Sims franchise is a major disappointment. Expand

I've spent countless hours creating people, in my opinion creating characters is my favourite thing to do. The graphics are a lot more cartoon looking for my liking. While an enjoyable title that has been polished up and seems generally very modern, it cannot be expected that The Sims 4 is not going to be compared to The Sims 3. In this respect, it seems that while the game took a few steps forwards, it also took a few steps backwards by abandoning features that were very helpful and appreciated in the previous versions. It does have new features that people have been waiting for, such as emotions and more personality for the Sims. As for now, for some players it may not quite be worth to abandon The Sims 3 for it, but for new players looking for a first experience with the franchise, they may have an easier time navigating than former The Sims 3 players. People that have previously enjoyed the latter may be disappointed by the menus (Sim creation, building, or navigating town), as they have been so massively oversimplified that they are now actually confusing.

How would you react if you bought a new Elder Scrolls game and realized that half of the cities are unavailable (because TES6: World Adventures is around the corner), there are only 4 weapons (TES6: Accessories), you can’t ride horses (TES6: Pets), there are only 12 quests (TES6: Careers), 2 guilds (TES6: Friends) and 3 spells (TES6: Supernatural)?
