Lifeless DLC mechanics-wise and no new companions that doesn't add much to core game, plus you have to revert to middle game to play it, which is backwards DLC design for a game that came out months ago. Bravo.

To quote Cohh Carnage's review "Hmm. That was a DLC." Agreed with him that the story was bland and underwhelming and easily predicted. Hopefully next DLC is better, but not sure I'm going to play it.

Sometimes there’s good writing, then there’s Peril on Gorgon. Outer Worlds was saved by decent writing, but it can’t elevate it past its unambitious, safe, and dull-after-5 hours approach, was a struggle to finish and this DLC does nothing to improve on the core game. If you're in for the story and writing, you're in for a disappointment.

Story's even weaker than the core game, humor has long since worn thin. True of all systems.

Still waiting for Switch port to be fixed, but playing this DLC is shallow and even less interesting than main game (plus have to restart in middle to find it). Not a good look for a DLC and boring story and no new enemies and companions like Pillars DLC is a big nope

Nothing new to see here, and not worth the revisit. Obsidian's storytelling has definitely gone backwards over the years, and Peril on Gorgon is a peril only to buyers.

Came out too late, but even so, not quality and not worth the price, if you have to buy it, wait for a bundle on sale so you can at least play the DLC without backtracking through a game you've likely already played.

I'm actually just wanting to rate the base game although I do own the DLCs. Another 'meh' title that simply doesn't rival games like Mass Effect or Witcher 3 or even the buggy Fallout 4 (I actually love Fallout 4 despite the bugs) and Cyberpunk (that's right against the lack lustre Cyberpunk, this game is poor). List of poor effort and game thinness:

    - Very little customisable equipment
I'm actually just wanting to rate the base game although I do own the DLCs. Another 'meh' title that simply doesn't rival games like Mass Effect or Witcher 3 or even the buggy Fallout 4 (I actually love Fallout 4 despite the bugs) and Cyberpunk (that's right against the lack lustre Cyberpunk, this game is poor). List of poor effort and game thinness:

    - Very little customisable equipment in comparison to other games.
    - Very limited character development options. Go back to the 1980's and 90's and hit games like Baldur's Gate, Lands of Lore etc and this game is blown to pieces by comparison).
    - Very boring, long winded conversations with only a handful of NPCs (the world is very thinly filled and if there is a conversation at all, it's a dead end).
    - Very dull and 'rinse cycle repeat' RPG 'choices' e.g. first choice, save town a or town b. Turns out both sides are dicks (who would have seen that cliche coming) with no option for a 'good guy' solution because despite everything you have to do, the conversations are dead end and you can't use negotiation skills to say things like 'hey, I just picked your side because you came across as the compassionate ones, therefore, don't be a dick and help to save everybody or I'll go back and shut everything down'.
    - To reaffirm the above- I AM SERIOUSLY TIRED OF GAMES THAT MAKE EVERY DECISION A DARK CHOICE OF CRAP, CRAP OR A TINY BIT LESS CRAP DEPENDING ON OPINION. It's boring, unrealistic and it isn't 'dark, clever and mysterious' its god awful stupidity. Computer games SHOULD NOT DEPRESS PEOPLE!
    - The colour palette is interesting and they have clearly gone for their own look here. It's a personal preference thing but why does my dude need bluish highlights in his blonde hair?!?!?
    - Fighting is pretty monotonous and quite dull.

All in all, it's hard to think of a more 'high calibre' poverty stricken game. Maybe Fallout 76?

For the RPG, story telling elements alone I’d recommend it… for being set in space it gets bonus points… for being just a well fleshed out world that is quite striking to look at and to inhabit it gets a hearty recommendation. If you like RPG’s then this is definitely worth checking out!

Is this a bad DLC? Fortunately, no. You'll definitely enjoy it, but a feeling of disappointment will constantly keep you company during this adventure, as it could be something a lot better than simply "more of a good thing" kind of deal. In other words, Peril on Gorgon is just one more quest line to complete - one that's fun, but not any different than what came before it.
  3. Peril on Gorgon is a great DLC for players who want more The Outer Worlds. Peril on Gorgon does a very good job with its Sci-fi Noir style story and successfully written dialogues. Sadly, the fact that it does not bring any extra innovations is a little bit disappointing.
