The game suffers from some repetitive missions with a lot of "fetch this and find that," plus many of the camera angles are finicky.
-
A neat title to have if you really want a LOTR title that brings a little more to the game than just what you saw at your local theater, but missing parts, changes to the story, and some technical and gameplay issues cannot be overlooked while playing it.
-
PC GamerIt takes slightly longer to finish the game than to watch the movie -- I got through it in about severn hours. [Holiday 2002, p.96]
-
Though beautiful and relatively faithful to the books, it is not the most creatively accomplished game and does little to capture the genius of the novel.
-
It does sadly leave out big important sections of the story which can make things sometimes seem a bit disjointed.
-
So because of its simplicity and relative shortness I'd say this game is more for the teenage player, which is not surprising as it is a PC and console game release.
-
Considering the amount of detail that clearly went into designing the lush landscapes, enormous environments, and character art for this game, it's really a shame that the fun factor seems like less than an afterthought.
-
It's a shame that this game should loose all of its visual finery just because it was unsuccessfully ported from the Xbox. All of those nifty visual treats that made the game rock on the Xbox were just gone, which came as an overall disappointment.
-
It just isn't that much fun to play, thanks to its control and camera problems, along with its occasional crashes and lack of an autosave feature.
-
The problem is that using the Ring is not critical to success in the game - you can complete it easily enough without ever using the Ring.
-
All glittery golden on the outside, soulless, sucking void on the inside... The thought of a trilogy of games this bad is really and truly mind-boggling.
