A decent text-based RPG with a disappointing illogical ending.

Those lusting after a well-written visual novel with drab visuals and little ability to alter its outcome might enjoy The Life and Suffering of Sir Brante. As for me, although my opinion was initially favorable, my mood soured after wasting hours of playtime due to a minor choice that had no connection to the overarching plot. It’s still recommended to visual novel fans, but cautiously so.

The Life and Suffering of Sir Brante is everything that timeless art should aspire to be: a mirror into the soul of the beholder. In a land of hard-hitting, brutal, narrative-heavy RPGs, The Life and Suffering of Sir Brante is an uncontested deity. Whatever life you choose for your Brante, know this. It’ll be devastating. It’ll be unrelenting. But it’ll be one of the best damn lives you’ll ever live. [Best In Its Class]

    Great game, a masterpiece.

I want to give some piece of advice to those who want to start playing. It's fine, when things turn the way you don't like. The world is cruel and you can't bend at your own will. You can't please everyone either.

My first play-through was on a hard difficulty, when you don't see the consequences of your actions immediately. I accepted my true death as the consequence of my previous decisions.

The word "suffering" in the game title speaks for itself. It's deeply philosophical and emotional. I'm sure you can fall in love with the game (like I did) or hate it with all your heart (because it's not an easy one), but you can't be somewhere in the middle, uninterested.

I recommend it with all my heart.

A good narrative game is like a book that your grandmother gave you for Thanksgiving. Happy with the game as a vacation in the Bahamas!

I was unable to make any meaningful choices in the last dozen or so prompts. Everything was grayed out except for the "do nothing" option, as I had somehow missed an esoteric way for the main character to do anything interesting. I literally watched as other characters finished out the story for me. It was insulting.

You can replay chapters, but there is no "skip dialogue I've already seen" option, so you have to give yourself carpal tunnel clicking endlessly through old text. Easily a 8.5/10 game with a few tweaks to plot requirements and some quality of life changes. Until then, it left a sour aftertaste.
