Hard not to give this game five minutes of my time to write a review given how many hours I sunk into it (more than 100 according to Steam). It has everything that makes a great RPG. The retro feel is a delight. The characters are very good. Everything in this title makes you want to keep playing.

I liked it. Side quest was too hard to figure out. 15 euros is way too much fort this game, you definitely need to buy this one on discount.

The Book of Legends is a classic retro J-RPG that proves itself to be long-lived, solid, interesting, full of things to do and with many characters and secrets to discover. On the other hand, it's a classical formula with very little new stuff. But that's not a big deal.

I enjoy 2d-roleplaying a la 16-bit, but here the Portuguese team from Aldorlea Games takes the easy way out. Where other retro developers try to combine old school visuals and mechanics with modern amenities, this is as pure as it gets – and sometimes it just feels old.

The Book of Legends is a good RPG Maker game worthy of Aldorlea's pedigree, but it has the potential to be more. I'm left feeling as if the limitations of RPG Maker prevent the game from realizing its full potential.
