When I first got this game, I originally left it a positive review. Now that some time has passed, and I've had more time with the game, I can no longer recommend Team Sonic Racing to anyone.

First off let me just say that this game had a lot of potential. The gameplay mechanics themselves are really good. The drift switching is still there from the last game. The stunts while a bit different, still feel great. The team mechanics are very interesting and fun to play with, and over all I would say there is good depth to the gameplay.
My real issues comes from the attitude the developer has towards theirs consumers. If you look at the discussions board, you will see so many people complaining about the online multiplayer. It isn't working right. Whole lobbies are disconnecting, and people aren't even able to play the game. They have even left out some features that are on the PS4 version, but no where to be found here. Such as the ability to join an online match with your friends. This is a team game, why wouldn't they include that, especially if the console version can?
There are also so many other bugs in the game,to some strange visual glitches, respawn glitches, and ear♥♥♥♥♥♥on ice mountain. Like what others have been saying, it really feels like we just got the alpha version of the game. Why do we have such issues, when there was such a long delay? I really feel like they do not care about the game at all.
Another issue, that is a bit more personal, has to do with the balancing. I remember watching some interviews from Sumo before the game came out. They were raving about how different classes will have the advantage on different tracks. I took this as there would be so much more character diversity, not just in multiplayer, but in the Time Trials as well. This is not the case.
In the last game, Sonic All-Stars Racing Transformed, I spent a lot of time speed running, always trying to get the best times possible. I was doing that in TSR, but while I loved it at first, after a while, it seems that on most all the levels, the only character that matters is Zavok. Zavok, the character, I am sure is the least popular in the entire game, somehow has the best stats.
Now there are a few maps that are better suited for the speed types, because they have a bit more handling for those tighter courses, but technique only has a single map that they are even worth playing on, and the rest goes to Zavok.
The map for technique is Doctors Mine. I was really excited about this map, because I had a chance to give my favorite character, Tails, a chance at a world record, and I did, at least for a couple hours. After that, it was taken by Zavok. A map, best suited for technique, beat a technique character. Now I was able to go back, and retake it with Eggman and Chao, but I was not able to retake it with Tails. The fact that Zavok can beat any technique character on a map with such a crazy off road cut, really just irritates me. Why should one of the most popular characters, get such terrible stats, and the least popular have the best?
Now I tried to go through some maps as Zavok, but he just doesn't feel very good. He handles like a tractor. Now I could do these maps with him. I did hold the world record on Boo's house for a few days, but I do not enjoy it. I do not feel like playing Time Trials now, and for me it was my favorite mode in the last game.
Another thing that Sumo was never good at, even with Sonic All-Stars, are the cheaters. In the previous title, they did list that the game supported VAC banning, but they never banned any of the cheaters. If you look at a map like Ocean View in the last game, the true world record is listed at about rank 100. Someone who really took the time to get that world record, doesn't get any recognition for it, at least in the game itself. With Team Sonic Racing, I am not sure if Sumo will do anything about the hackers who have already started to show up on some of the leaderboards.
Now for anyone looking to get this game, I would recommend that you do not give Sumo 25 cents, until they apologize to all their fans, especially the ones who have already purchased the game, and not until they fix these major glitches.
As for me, I won't play this game until they do what I just said above, and also rebalance the stats.
As a big fan of the last game, I am just really disappointed with how this turned out. Sumo, if you are reading this, please don't continue your anti-consumer practices, and start giving your player base the respect it deserves.… Expand
