Spies are hard to play but easy to spot if you play more than a few weeks. Heavy's run out of amno to fast. Snipers have are overpowered with melee and the scope. Scouts are worthless on all maps now due to updates. Pyros still have issues with the flame setting people on fire most of the time someone can just walk through it without problems or someone gets hit with the flame from outragious distances or is off to the side. Basically all the classes have major flaws now the 1st time they got the classes right but valve still doesn't think they're right and keeps changing them making them increasingly pointless and unblanced. The art is unique, the FPS style of gaming in this second hit, is unfortunately not. A big disapointment from a true valve fan.

The first word in the name of the game is "TEAM" and that's what it's all about. It's what makes this game great. It's the only game where I can lose a round and still feel great because my team worked together. Those that play for self achievements usually play for the losing teams. Those that know their role and importance to the team usually make their team victorious.

Great game till the achievement update came out. Its is a Medic-fest now, and the way Valve does the updates basing them on 6 month releases Per class. It has ruined this game to almost to a point of mmo status. grinding to 1m heal points and getting 20 kills while healing a heavy. I am afraid of what the next batch will be IF it gets released before the game totally dies out.

Although in all honesty Vavle should have kept a couple of their older ideas for TF2 but overall it turned out very nicely. Advanced graphics make it a beautiful game - and not to forget the cartoony look it has which makes it different from any other game of similar caliber -, excellent quality in general, the personalities given to each of the classes are humourous, plus it is always action-packed and there never seems to be a dull moment. There's talk of strategy but the implementation of a random critical hits system and the aforementioned small maps sucks that out like a mosquito on your arm. The kill cam means that being a spy or sniper is a dangerous occupation as the people you kill will know where to go looking. Team Fortress is by no means bad, it's competent but that's it, more something you'd rent for a night so you can have a laugh rather than buy to implement creative strategy on a battlefield. Expand

Oh, right click and leave the scope on for a while and then BAM after a while you get an insto-kill as sniper, or just hold down the trigger and follow people as a medic, that is strategy for kids with ADD and apparently that is who designed this crapper of a game. This lowers the Orange Box score since this was an advertising point. In the end it is sad. Say your one of those Sam Fisher or Snake stealth game players, hop in as the Spy!
Real time strategy? Build up your sentries and dispensers in tactial spots as an Engineer!
Love racing games? Start running circles around your enemies, stealing their intelligence on the way, as the Scout!

Team Fortress 2 seems to pack so many different gameplay types for the characters into one game, there's a role for everyone!

If you've ever played the originial, you'd know how unbalanced the game would be for, say, Spies and Scouts, hardly getting any kills because of underpowered weapons. The sequel however, balances all the classes evenly! The Scout can get loads of kills, provided he gets close and uses his Scattergun effectively. The Spy now has a cloak and an instant kill backstab.
The list goes on and on for how more it's been balanced.

But hey, the graphics aren't chopped liver either-a fresh new stylized look, and all the characters are given one thing that most mulitplayer games lack... personality (get the game and find out what I mean) and it's easy tell what type of character someone is from simply their silhouette, voice or weapon.

In short: GET THIS GAME! Along with the 4 other games it comes with in the Orange Box, it's the best gaming deal of the century! 5 Games for the price of Halo 3 minus 10 bucks!

We no longer have grenades for some reason, which makes sentry-guns godly in many cases, requiring a team member to kill himself just to destroy the sentry! If you're in a good hiding spot sniping people, it is given away when you nail somebody because the camera zooms over to you, which ruins any good location. The pyro has an incredibly weak flamethrower and it reaches about as far as his arm, making it useless for the most part. Weapons don't seem to have a secondary fire anymore. Oh yeah, and this may just be 90% of the servers out there, but every time I have joined and played a game, even if I play for hours, I have yet to come across a CTF map! Everything has gone CP, which is boring as hell after a map or two. On top of that, maps like "Well" don't even resemble what they have resembled since their introduction, which has spanned several game engines such as Quake, Half-Life, and Unreal. This game is incomplete and does not deserve to bear the title "Team Fortress" in its current state, with the lacking of so much that has always been a part of TF. Highly disappointing and if I could return the game and get my $50 back I would. Bear in mind that I am an older player who is basing this review on years of playing ALL of the original TF mods across many game engines and am comparing it to what it used to be and noting what it lacks. The new graphics engine amplifies the cartoon violence to a new Pixar era of amusing individuality in facial animation. The community is as strong as ever. You can see this, because the game is updated about every two weeks, and hacks are few/far between. Most importantly, each class doesn't feel more powerful than the next. All have an important role in teamwork. Don't let the haters or fans of one particular class tell you otherwise. Master each class, and you can see each has an equal strenth and weakness.

All in all, the best online multiplayer shooter ever made (TFC) has been upgraded with more balance and better visuals. Job well done.

I hate when I play a game for fun and every three seconds I die because of someone using a grenade or another cheap weapon to kill me. Which brings me to another point, theres not a single cheap weapon to be found in the game, they all have they're strengths and weaknesses. I thought the Demoman was cheap in TF2 for the longest time, because I kept getting killed my them, but when I tried to use Demoman for myself, I found it takes alot of skill to properly use one, and In my book if it takes alot of skill to use something, it's not a very cheap weapon. The thing I like most about the game is the variety in the classes, it's not guaranteed you'll be good at using all of them, but they are all nessicary for a great and balanced team. Bad at playing Pyro but good at Sniper? That's fine! Use your skill set to benefit your team! And if you get bored of playing your usual class, you can always switch classes and have an entirely diffrent experience. The game never gets old! Great game. Expand

They might as well just kill you at random because that is what the spy ends up doing anyways. You are getting a good battle going, and out of no where you die. No chance of even seeing what killed you. Since they shift camera to who just killed you, if its a sniper it gives away their position. I don't play the sniper, but i imagine that has to irritate them. I miss the grappling hook too, as well as maps like 4fort4. Heavies require a small amount of skill but are still hold down trigger and hope for best and hope a medic is there. All classes that have special functions require skill, like scouts actually take skill to aim and dodge with, especially dodge. Spies obviously take a good amount of strategy and skill. Snipers require aim most of all, and some melee skill. I like the classes that I can better myself at, the other ones disappoint me. Expand

I can't really compare this one to TFC because I haven't played that one(yet) so I don't know if this one really degraded from TFC. What I can tell you is that while this game is competitive it is not for super competitive people. The critical hit system makes weak shots turn into random kills so it's definitely not for tournament play. It is a casual competitive game I can't really compare this one to TFC because I haven't played that one(yet) so I don't know if this one really degraded from TFC. What I can tell you is that while this game is competitive it is not for super competitive people. The critical hit system makes weak shots turn into random kills so it's definitely not for tournament play. It is a casual competitive game where teamwork is much more important than in Counter Strike or other multiplayer games where one person can just headshot the other team into oblivion. The graphics are great even when running on minimum spec like I am and the classes have a wide variety so if you're a more defensive player you can be an engineer and set up a sentry and other mechanical devices that can help your team greatly like dispensers and teleporters. Or if you like to be sneaky you can be a spy who can turn invisible for a short period of time or disguise as an enemy(or a teammate). As a spy you can also sabotage the enemy engineers's machines with a leeching device, but be sure to take out the engineer too as he can beat the device off with his wrench. Those are just two of the radically different 9 classes. The only classes I have a problem with are the scout and the engineer. Of course the scout has his trademark bat which has been shown to bring enemies into submission in the trailer but it really isn't that easy. It could be 3-5 solid hits on a regular soldier to kill him. Also the sniper feels weak, especially with the charging system which basically makes it so that to get a full powered shot you must be in scope for 4-5 seconds before firing. Also the sniper's smg is almost useless against anyone that isn't a spy or a scout. The last flaw is the lack of maps/environments.But besides those flaws this game is wonderful with it's stylized graphics and the different classes. Expand

The thing I love about it is, apart from all the changes, the gameplay is pretty much the same as the old one, just better. Sure there's no grenades anymore, but the focus now is much more on the guns, so instead of having big bombing battles you have big firefights, which are way more frantic, skillful and entertaining. The game might take a while to grow on you, but it's a very well thought out game, with a lot of depth, charm and most important, fun gameplay. Only reason why I don't give it 10 is some technical issues (running on a new PC) that hopefully get sorted out soon. Expand

It's a good game, but it took me a few plays before I really got into it. This game is one of the most fun and addicting team based strategy games out there. With fast paced action and many different classes combined with on-line play, it will keep anyone up all night.

The game play is fresh and keeps me addicted to it even after 80 hours of play. There are two few original maps, but that will be addressed soon with an upcoming update. Endless fun, includes level design tools, with new tools coming for movie making within the game engine. Never gets boring, the animation, character development, and class variety combined with the ability to make new maps is just what the medic ordered!

Team Fortress II is a very innovative and well balanced game. The classes are well designed and the Paper-Rock-Scissors principle works swimmingly. Thumbs up.

Hands down the game of the season. So much fun. The maps are all designed to keep you dying ALOT, but there already 20 to 40 player made maps that will be classics 5 years from now.
Great game. PLAY AS THE MEDIC! Every time the guy you're healing gets a kill you get a point. I can't believe the medic is the least played character.

This is one of the best FPS's i've played in a while. Gameplay is well balanced between the classes; Art Direction makes me think "Has Valve Taken over Pixar?" in a good way; And It is so addicting thanks to the replay value.

This game if very addicting and all my friends play it. Although it gets a little more boring as time passed on but that is just due to dumb ass team-mates who sware over Mic. You will also get mad because you die alot. However you can pick your own class and just have fun its a game. Its warth it buy it aslng as you and ur team woth togeather you are sure to win =).

Pretty to look at. Boring to play. No depth of play. Grew stale very quickly. Very overrated by both critics and players. If you are looking for a game for the weekend, rent it on your console. You'll tire of it before you need to return it.

The marriage of highly stylised retro-spy presentation, fresh, high octane action, deep and varied classes and the underlying twinkle of humour in its metaphorical eye make Team Fortress 2 far more than just your average fragfest. Long after the novelty of the graphics wears thin, we are left with a refined and accessible multiplayer game that simultaneously cultivates new players whilst retaining enough depth to accommodate even the hardiest of veterans.
  2. The game also does a lovely job of framing your relationship with other players and nurturing them.
  3. It's one hell of a game. With its powerful artistic style and blazingly quick, yet accessible gameplay, it's enough to melt the icy cynicism imprisoning the hearts of even the most jaded among us. That being said, it's not the most complex shooter out there.
