Nov 6, 2014Starpoint Gemini 2 is a beast of a game. It gracefully balances exploration, action, narrative, and RPG elements to create a complete package that thrills and excites… most of the time. Be aware that the nature of the missions are repetititive and ultimately a means to an end: to become the most powerful captain in the galaxy.
-
Oct 7, 2014It might take a bit of time and effort, but once you’re past the initial start up process you’ll soon be in for a treat.
-
CD-ActionJan 9, 2015SG2 has everything that makes space sims great, but despite its complexity is accessible enough to make it a wonderful first step into the genre. [13/2014, p.64]
-
Dec 1, 2014An enjoyable single player space romp with a steep learning curve. Ignore the campaign and persevere with the sandbox for a rewarding experience.
-
Oct 17, 2014Starpoint Gemini 2 is a good wine which gives the most after decanting.
-
Oct 10, 2014The presentation is not great and the first few hours are pretty hard, but if you can get through you will find a very good game.
-
Oct 9, 2014An approachable 3rd-person space sim with a vast, and often beautiful, universe to explore.
-
Oct 8, 2014The campaign isn't up to much, the interactions between various factions are simplistic and missions occasionally feel repetitive, but the game largely nails that feeling of being a grizzled starship captain who doesn't play by the rules, making his living any way he can.
-
Nov 30, 2014The sense of exploration is the main draw, although the downtime between action sequences might be a little annoying to many.
-
Oct 28, 2014Better than the predecessor, a solid game, but still a bit of a disappointment. Mods could change that, though.
-
Oct 19, 2014Starpoint Gemini 2 is a standard space sim, with some cool features.
-
Oct 15, 2014Some aesthetic issues keep it from being perfect and it lacks the consistent adrenaline-pumping action that thrill-seekers crave, but overall it is an immersive and engaging experience for space captains everywhere.
-
Oct 14, 2014Most of the options available to you in Starpoint Gemini 2 will relate back in some way to the market and the economy. If there is an escape from its all-encompassing dullness, it can be found in restlessly wandering.
-
Oct 10, 2014It's big and often beautiful, and addictive as well. But it does lack the little extra that would keep me playing for weeks.
-
Oct 2, 2014Tactical combat, RPG-gameplay and a huge universe to explore are key elements of LGMs space-game. Graphics, music and sound effects are good, but the voice-acting is awful. Side-missions are repetitive and the campaign is suffering on a weak story. Bugs and balancing-problems still have to be patched. The Freeroam mode is the best part of the game and the mod-community offers nice content.
-
Oct 20, 2014This is an entertaining space sim with RPG influences, but it does not hold our attention for too long. The story is delivered poorly and the RPG gameplay is not deep enough to really touch us.
-
Oct 20, 2014For fans of this genre, Starpoint Gemini 2 could be a great game. It’s feature-rich and the gameplay is solid, but small extremely annoying glitches threatened to ruin my experience.
-
Oct 10, 2014It shows a lot of potential but at the latest when you get to the grinding stage (which is fairly early), you’ll find that the mechanics can’t back up all the potential there might be.
-
LEVEL (Czech Republic)Dec 3, 2014It is a vast universe with endless possibilities - nothing more, nothing less. If you prefer solo play and you have a vivid imagination give the game a chance. Otherwise leave it be. [Issue#247]
