    Certainly not the worst Star Trek game out. It's pretty and fairly easy to play. I just wish they'd do an open-ended Star Trek (ala Grand Theft Auto) where you could visit planets and the missions were not so linear. Is it so hard to do? You've got tractor beams, sensors, transporters and most of the goodies, but you can really only use them in predetermined situations, Certainly not the worst Star Trek game out. It's pretty and fairly easy to play. I just wish they'd do an open-ended Star Trek (ala Grand Theft Auto) where you could visit planets and the missions were not so linear. Is it so hard to do?     Turns the Trek game series into a shooter. Most of the missions are fast paced "blow your enemy out of space" style romps. Plain and simple a lot of fun. The naysayers will tell you this isn't true to Trek because they are looking for a Trek sim... If that's what you want then you WILL be disappointed. I will rate this game and 8 or 9 after they come out with a patch that allows Turns the Trek game series into a shooter. Most of the missions are fast paced "blow your enemy out of space" style romps. Plain and simple a lot of fun. The naysayers will tell you this isn't true to Trek because they are looking for a Trek sim... If that's what you want then you WILL be disappointed. I will rate this game and 8 or 9 after they come out with a patch that allows custom control configs and additional video tweaks.… Expand

    Despite its long, long list of lazy omissions it's still a game that Trek fans will enjoy -- if only for the voices, fire-photon-torpedoes ambiance, and graphical effects. They'll just have to grit their teeth while they do it.

    The game is challenging enough to make you play for a few hours, but it seems that some slip-ups in overall design have easily diminished all hopes of undertaking a highly immersive and profound space adventure. If it weren't for the technical mishaps and awkward gameplay mechanics, this game would've been a worthy addition to the Star Trek universe.
