In addition to a great story line, the attempt to stay true to the series pays off with a solid space simulator accurately portraying these massive ships in both movement and tactics.

Entertainment WeeklyEven non-Trekheads will enjoy sitting in the captain's chair and sending the crew boldly into battle. [5 Apr 2002, p.126]
-
The opportunity to fight using Star Trek ships is something that all Trekkies should salivate over.
-
Overall the game was more than I expected and truly made me feel like I was onboard a starship.
-
No other Star Trek quite captures the tone and feel of the license, yet does so in a way that the license isn't even necessary to make the game exciting and appealing to any gamer.
-
Easily the most indicative, representative, and still enjoyable Star Trek experience yet.
-
It would have been nice to be able to get up from the captains chair every now and then to walk around the bridge while your commanding your crew, or have the option to meet up with temporarily allied forces in places other then your super-glued captains chair vantage point.
-
The game really has the Trek flavour pegged...Bridge Commander's sore spot is that mission structure is not nearly as open-ended as it could be.
-
Even with multiple solutions to some situations, the game follows a largely linear path. Except for the user's material participation in combat, Bridge Commander can feel like a pure adventure game.
-
The voice acting and the musical score is top-notch and that it should help you greatly to get in the Trek spirit. The graphics on the other hand are a mixed bag of blessings.
-
A big part of the game is managing your ship between battle scenarios. In game, you will spend a lot of time working on your warp core, preparing your weapon systems even controlling repair teams.
-
Despite its short length and a few other problems, Star Trek Bridge Commander is an innovative, entertaining simulation.
-
The simple interface combined with the depth and detailed gameplay ensure this is a great game to play, the wonderful visuals and compelling storyline guarantee that youll be playing this for quite awhile.
-
One of the most realistic and captivating starship simulations ever made.
-
The result could be the best "Star Trek" game ever -- maybe not in terms of pure strategic or simulation gameplay, but certainly in terms of being true to its license.
-
Computer Gaming WorldThe holy grail of "Star Trek" simulations. [June 2002, p.89]
-
It may not be the best Trek game out there, but it really manages to capture the feel of commanding one of the most powerful vessels in the Federation, and its a blast to boot.
-
Even though Star Trek Bridge Commander has some wicked crashing issues and the single player is a little too linear, there's a very cool game in here. If you have the patience and a great rig, give it a shot.
-
My major complaints come down to 3 of the 5 members of your bridge crew (all of the male members hmm ) who seem to be unable to perform any duties -- you have to push them out of the way and do it yourself.
-
At times it is an adventure game, then it's a flight simulation, at another turn a space shooter. Whatever it is, it's a great game that any Trek fan can't pass by.
-
PC GamerThe one design flaw I can't forgive is the lack of in-mission saves. [May 2002, p.65]
-
Could do with a few more chances to explore, make decisions, and otherwise go beyond the rigid confines of a linear story.
-
Game InformerI also got the feeling that my ship was more in control of me than I was of it which means I had t rely on AI piloting. [Apr 2002, p.85]
-
The game is about a 10-hour experience. There's absolutely no reason to replay it.
