About as amazing a game as could possibly be made within the framework of South Park. Deserves a 10 for content. Only giving it a 9 because the controls were extremely awkward on PC.

Funniest game I've ever played. Well done to Trey and Matt for pulling this off, was skeptical at first when I heard it was going to be a RPG-type game but really impressed with the final outcome and of how much it looks like an actual episode when you play it and not just the cut scenes. Will definitely be revisiting when new DLC is added!

South Park: The Stick of Truth is an absolutely brilliant game, for many reasons. Trey Parker and Matt Stone have excellently translated South Park's style into video game format - this game is fun to play, yet at the same time hilarious in every possible way.

A large number of the characters that have ever appeared in the South Park TV show make an appearance in this game, even if some just appear in loading screens, and the dialogue has been carefully crafted to be absolutely hilarious every step of the way, not just for fans of the original series who might pick up on some of the references - even but for these references the dialogue is still hilarious enough on its own to be enjoyable for just about any player, be they a South park aficionado or someone who has never seen the show - Some of the references went right over my head, but it did not detract from the game's experience whatsoever.

This probably isn't the sort of game, however, for a hardcore gamer who looks for a deep and rich gaming experience - This may be an RPG, but it takes the piss out of its own genre more than it tries to emulate it, as such it's not the deepest experience gameplay-wise, however in spite of this it is still very much fun to play, because in all honesty it's clearly not supposed to be played as a serious RPG. It's meant to be played as a pisstake of the genre it belongs to, and in that sense it hits the nail right on the head.

Another thing that makes this game unique is the fact that, in making The Stick of Truth, Trey Parker and Matt Stone have essentially translated the South Park format directly into a video game, art style and all. It truly feels like you are playing out an episode of the series, which makes for a unique and interesting gameplay experience.

A word of warning however: In achieving the level of comedy that it does, the game is also very, very, VERY politically incorrect. Just like the original TV show, there is probably something in there that will offend everyone, from abortions to Nazis to sex - and if it doesn't offend you, it becomes absolutely hilarious.

To summarise, South Park: The Stick of Truth is an absolutely brilliant, game. The dialogue between characters will have you aching with laughter, the gameplay is easy but fun, and the fact that it looks almost exactly like an episode of South Park makes it all the better. True, it may not be the deepest RPG experience, or a very politically correct game, but that's because it isn't meant to be. What it is meant to be is a piss-take of the genre it belongs to and an immensely offensive yet side-splittingly hilarious satire- and just like the series it is based off, it does that very, very well.

Final score: 10/10. Most definitely worth your time and money.

This game is hilarious. It takes the show and inserts you right into the action. I really enjoyed the many references. The level up system was fantastic, and it was overall a flawless game. Maybe a little inappropriate though.

People (especially the one review from IGN) really gave this game a hard time because of the fighting system. Some negative reviews are from people who didn't understand why they made you go through the funny scenes to get the magic abilities. They also were confused that you didn't actually use the abilities like that. I feel sorry for some of the negative reviewers for that.

All-in-all, this is a great game if you love RPGs. I did bump it down 1 point because on the PC version, it takes a long time to sell junk and that was a bit annoying.

Despite all of this you just have to keep playing so you can see it all, and you so want to love it you forget to even look for what you would normally look for in an RPG. It is offensive, crude and hilariously funny for 15 hours or so, with hundreds of references to the show, all the familiar characters and a funny plot running through it.
Exploring the map of South Park was a rare joy, so much so that I regularly forgot what it was I was supposed to be doing. There are a lot of puzzles to do, hidden stuff to find, many side quests and collectables to look for, mini games and a perk system of character upgrades linked to the amount of friends you can get on Facebook. Almost everything is a blast on the first play through and the writing up to the usual SP standards. For me the highlight comes early, when Cartman gives you the option of playing either a wizard, a warrior, a thief or a Jew. If only this choice made any difference...

But it does not. You get four abilities depending on what you choose, but everything else stays the same. And since you are basically perma OP anyway you could probably squeak by without even using most of them. This also makes the combat repetitive and mostly boring, weirdness aside, and it also makes gear almost entirely cosmetic, since you don`t really need it. Some of the mandatory mini games are also amazingly poor and either broken or so poorly translated from Xbox they are essentially impossible to pass, unless you look them up online to discover that the instructions you`re given are misleading, to say the least. Without this help I would have gotten stuck somewhere in the middle and been very annoyed.
It is a shame that the gameplay doesn`t quite match the quality of the design, writing and satire, in what is in essence an open world South Park not missing a thing from the TV show. But when the best part is exploring the town and talking to all the characters we`re not dealing with a very good game in itself.

So in conclusion, The Stick of Truth is a must for anyone who likes South Park and is basically a season of content all by itself. It can not be recommended to RPG fans though, unless they also like South Park. And after you`re done with it you`re done, since there is basically no replay value at all.

This PC version has everything. Working controller, even. I played it in big screen on my 46" TV like any console g amer would have done, but on my pc. I enjoyed it. It feels so complete and works without ANY trouble.
Let's hope for dlc in this masterpiece, to maybe go to nambla, evil twins of another dimension, sexual harrasment panda and a lot of other quests that would be possible. It deserves more than 8.5, enough said. Only critics who're not paid and are probably offended gives it any lower than 8.

Length is about 13 hours for everything if you go through it normally. It can be longer and shorter all about how you play it. Explore, see south park and enjoy it!

Only problem is the EU censorship. Luckily I am on PC and the removed scenes were there. I wouldn't have gotten it if anything had been removed, and I expected PG 18 of course.

    3/10/14 Update:
After finishing up the game and seeing what all I had left to be done. I would like to update my review. The game has too much sexual content like characters showing off their privates. The game is mainly about farting because its the only way to beat it plus its a high attack ratting. It's funny but after five hours of seeing it / hearing it, it gets old. There's a mission or two where it requires jimmy and when he starts to talking, he can't stop studdering and the player cannot skip through it so it's like listening to a broken record player. Uses same jokes more than 10 times.

I was beginning to think it was going to be worth atleast $30 but now i don't think its even worth 20

Mainly my biggest gripe is the saving. I willl save my spot in the game and it refuses to save right where I am at. I am pretty sure this has nothing to do with my computer, and I hope this is patched soon. If you try to save in an exact spot it will only let you save where you were at your last checkpoint. My roomate tried starting a new game and it does let you have multiple save files but even though i never saved over his file it will magically dissapear, so I think there is some issues technically with the saving system. I will say this is more of an issue if you are sharing the game with a friend or you wanted to create another character but keep your old game.

The fighting system has some minor snags. The time the "block" icon comes up and when you push the buttons on a hooked up controller, has delay so pretty much just block when something makes contact don't pay attention to the block icon. You just have the time things yourself which is fine but it's irritatiing to have the icon even in the game if you'll never pay attention to it.

I beat the game on normal difficulty but I highly suggest lowering the difficulty to casual for your first playthrough so you can just enjoy the story and have fun. It gets quite difficult at the very end and instead of laughing with the game I was kind of just glad it was over because of how frustrating the final boss is.

The story is the glowing part of this game. You will see many characters some you may have not thought about in a long time. I don't want to go too into it, but I will say it's an overall good story. I will be honest and say the ending is not as good as it could have been in a sense that I felt very little pay off for beating the final boss at the end of the main story. It wasn't awful, it was even decent but I think it could have been (should have been) way more over the top like the rest of the game was. A boss fight in the middle of the game is way more of a shocking and interesting moment then the last boss is. I think that's a flaw.

Anyways I'm glad I played the game and I don't want to come off the wrong way but I did have some issues with it that brought me out of the game. Again lower the difficulty on the first play. Overall I'd give technical parts of the game a 7 and the story an 8 so overall a 7.5 is fair I think. I'd also wait to buy it until it goes on sale unless you just have 60 dollars to drop like I did. Just saying :)

Nothing stands out as being "non-South Parky," all the animation and art is straight up South Park, but handled by a game engine. Pretty cool accomplishment!

The story is amusing and does its job at establishing the setting and plot while pushing the game toward its conclusion, but it felt less fresh to me after the "The Return of the Fellowship of the Ring to the Two Towers" episode and the "Black Friday" trilogy. I understand why they chose it though, it's an RPG and it makes sense to use those themes. Call it a personal bias - in a world as rich as South Park, I would have liked an RPG without elves and zombies, even if they're LARPed or Nazis. They're overused themes in videogames, even if done in parody.

The combat is alright. The humour in the boys' attacks is great. Their banter between turns and actions was a nice touch. Pretty standard JRPG turn-based combat, nothing revolutionary but fun to play and watch. I did feel like the level cap was too low. I hit max level long before the game ended which made fights less rewarding for two reasons: enemies other than bosses don't drop anything worthwhile and no level/stat progression through gaining XP. There should have been another 5 levels, then it would have felt more complete. Other than that it was pretty good.

Now for some negative things. Some of the tutorials are confusing or outright misleading, namely learning the fart attacks and the goth dance. The tutorials tell you to do actions that don't correspond to what you actually have to do. The entirety of the game is played with WASD, but for the goth dance you have to use arrow keys without anyone telling you to. The fart attacks say to alternately hold A and D, but you're supposed to tune a pointer to a specific frequency by tapping those buttons, not alternately holding them. This lead to some useless frustration that could have been avoided with better descriptions of what to do.

The game is WAY WAY WAY too easy. I'm pretty sure you can play through Hardcore without upgrading any perks, abilities or using equipment patches and it would still be a total breeze. This hurts replayability badly. There's only one tough fight in the game and it's not even the last boss.

The game is also way too short for the pricetag. It can be completed with all sidequests in around 15 hours, less for a more experienced playthrough. For $60 I was hoping for at least a 20-30 hour game. Like I mentioned before, it felt like it needed another 5+ levels, and it definitely could have used another 10 hours of content. $30 would have felt like a fairer price to me.

Overall, this game is a great experience and filled with Matt and Trey's patented humour. It's probably the best TV show to game adaption I've seen. It has faults, and the pricetag is high, but if you're a big South Park fan you'll want to pick this up sometime, maybe when it's a little cheaper.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. From early on in the game, you realize that this game is definitely a South Park RPG - not an RPG that features South Park. The game plays much like older SNES RPGs (Mario RPG comes to mind) where battles do not start until your character touches a foe outside of battle in the South Park world.

You play as the "New Kid" or "Douchebag," as Cartman so lovingly puts. You pick between 4 classes (Warrior, Mage, Thief, and Jew). I played through with the Mage for my first playthrough, and it was truly an experience.

Between the magic, the "abilities," and "summons" you can earn, you have quite a bit of choice in how to attack the world head on.

When you first begin, you understand that the game world is the city of South Park. Throughout the game, you go to a couple of places that are featured in the South Park universe, but 90% of the gameplay is in South Park and the different buildings shown in the South Park show. You can enter most of the buildings and "loot" drawers and various cabinets in the kitchen, bathrooms, and bedrooms.

All of the RPG elements are here; you have a character that gains experience through the game that opens up ability upgrades. These range from attacks to buffs and open up stronger versions of those abilities. After you defeat enemies, you get consumables, equipment, and junk. 100% of these items are all references from the South Park Universe. Need some health? Have a Snacky Cake and some Cheesy Poof. Want to attack again in one turn? Have some of Tweek's Family Coffee. Want to up your attack and defense? That's right, BEEFCAKE. BEEFCAKE. "Junk" is used for nothing but earning money (which, in the end game, doesn't matter). I had over $900.00 by the time of the end of the game and I rarely bought anything. The equipment, while fun and interesting, is severely lacking. While each class has their "own" weapon, there are probably only 20 weapons in each genre (sword, wand, bow/thrown). What spices this up is the attachments that you can put on your weapons and equipment. These range from gaining PP (heh, PeePee) at the start of every turn, or ignoring enemy armor (which can be ridiculously high). With that being said, the equipment attachments are still lacking; much like the overall equipment pool that you can pull from.

Whereas some people have had glitches and problems playing the game, I only encountered one bug that happened during a cutscene where the sound didn't work. However, for the first hour of playing, my girlfriend's Thief character wasn't allowed to attack in the beginning fights (tutorial fights w/ Cartman). After restarting a couple times, it seems that her character is working perfectly now.

More content issues come from the variety of enemies. Aside from boss fights (which are very, very fun), you only fight the same 10 or 15 types of enemies (Elves, Humans, animals, etc). While all battles are fun and interesting because they can change on a dime, your character is pretty much unstoppable after level 9 (level cap being 16 for usefulness; nothing unlocks after 16).

The side quests are few and far between, but definitely an experience for the South Park fan. Among the magic and abilities, there are a couple of summoning items you can get for completing the side quests (e.g. Jesus, Kim Chee, Mr. Hankey). However, they cannot assist in boss battles and I didn't use them again outside of seeing the ridiculousness of the attack.

Where the game lacks content it makes up in technical mastery. Written by the duo behind the series, the storylines and the voice acting are among the best in the RPG genre. Of course, thankfully, with the graphics being taken directly from the show, the requirements to run this game on the PC are slim. 6gb install and you could run on a toaster (or the 360, hah) and I believe most of that 6gb is audio files because there is a TON of high-quality dialogue.

All in all, South Park: The Stick of Truth is an amazing experience for South Park fans. However, at the $60 pricepoint, the team at Obsidian and the publisher Ubisoft are asking too much for a game that only offers a good 15 hours of gameplay single-player. While there are collectibles (Chinpokemon, "friends" via Facebook in-game), there isn't a ton of content to play through more than once (unless you want to play through all 4 classes). I would definitely recommend this game to South Park fans, but if you're only a casual fan or a fan of RPGs, I would wait until the price comes down because it is a very niche' product - it's a South Park game, you much be a South Park fan to understand all of the references made throughout the game at lengths.

The exact moment Eric said this is when I knew this was going to be fun game for me. Why? Because I love South Park. This game feels like another episode that is interactive. People who don't like the South Park series will not like this game because it is the only thing that stands out. The RPG system is very bland. There are no special mechanics that separate this RPG system from anything else. The mechanics of this game may be nothing special, however, the South Park atmosphere (ex. comedy, voices, characters) does make up for it.

Conclusion: Solely relying on the elements from the South Park series can not make me consider this as a great game. By only having this element, it narrows the audience of this game. I personally enjoyed this game, however, I will not consider it a solid game when it does not appealed to more than just its' fanbase. I give it a ~6.5-7.

The battle system is simple and boiks down to timing and basic tactics. What i did take issue with was the small scale of the battles. At this moment i have 2 buddies and can only use 1 in battle, which is kind of limiting. But it is a very fun game and even after beating it, I want to play again with a different class. There are four class options: Fighter, Thief, Mage, and Jew. The Jew class that I chose tends to benefit from being at low health. Their abilities grow much stronger as they get lower and lower in hit points.

The other characters you get to bring with you are very fun as well. Butters, Stan, Kyle, Princess Kenny (or Kyeennny if you incorrectly talk like Cartman), Cartman, and Jimmy can be on your team (just one of them at a time) to help you. There are certain points in the game where you must choose a certain buddy to perform a command to get past obstacles.

The game's flaws are few, but they are common flaws for PC versions of console games. The controls are poor at times. Some points in the game would have normally used an analog stick for your controller, but you are forced to use the A and D keys in a poor attempt at emulating the analog controller. Thus, some points in the game can be a bit frustrating as a PC user.

Another issue is that, during cutscenes, if you have ALT-TABBED during your most recent session of this game, your character will blink in and out from the scene. You have to close the game and open it again to fix this.

But despite those PC-only bugs, it is still a very enjoyable game. It is more fun if you enjoy South Park as a show, but even if you're not the biggest fan, the game is still good on its own. It's not a typical licensed product, which usually consists of a ripoff of a better game with sounds from the TV show (Simpsons Hit n run).

The gameplay is a turn-based rpg which will turn off some people, but I found it engaging and interesting. The characters are unbalanced, ranging from too overpowered (kyle) to useless (kenny). The character you control constantly changes his armor/equipment with armor patches, which keeps the combat interesting. I started off as a jew, but ended up being a 2 handed warrior by the end of the game.

A strong con I feel is that the game is short, took me 10 hours to to beat the game with most of the sidequests completed. Certain sidequests are great (mr hankey's marital problems, al gore) but most of them are the run of the mill kill, collect rpg questss. The main quest is hilarious though, and truly keeps you hooked until the end.

Bottom line, this is a game for fans of the show, or people who can appreciate the crazy humor that south park delivers. I wouldn't say it's worth 60 dollars though, and you should wait for that 20-30 dollar price range.

I'm not a hardcore South Park fan and have maybe seen three episodes in the last five years but I always enjoyed what it was, and that's, a cartoon with great humor that has survived the test of time. This show is on route of the Simpsons in terms of longevity and you either get why or you don't. I get why and the score reflects that.

The shows producers POURED their heart into this game and you can tell. The graphics are true to the shows style, the sound is taken from the cartoon characters perfectly, the music is a great medieval spin, and despite the fun shallow battles, there is clever strategy involved. You are very involved in the attacks where it can make the fight or end it for you; you don't just tap the button to get through the next attack. Defending is crucial.

The extras in this game are phenominal and this is complete fanfare. This was made for South Park fans and no cost was spared by the producers getting some of the best in the business to create this. It shows. Thank you gentlemen. I am glad you also told the developers to shut it in regards to releasing the game sooner and just put out what wasn't done yet as DLC. For that, I cannot wait to see what comes out further.

1001 reference, the poo/fart jokes and the clever ones. Every significant South Park character is in there,
all the original voices, Cartman, Cartman, Cartman and Douchebag.

To top it all, we are not getting a **** FPS like on N64 but a great RPG instead. Which means they can actually make the 2D effect just like the episodes.

on the cons side, 12-15 hours for a full 60$ digital price is a bit high. I guess you can bank up to 30 hours on a 2nd play a year later. (Even if the game is amazing, I really don't feel like redoing all again, since there is no new game+, I just doesn't feel the need for a 2nd play right away.)

There are still some issues and most of them are related to actual game mechanics. Main annoyance for me was the key combos and quick time events required to perform combat moves. As often is the case, these just don't work well on PC. After a while I mostly get used to them, but there were some I failed to do almost every time.

Some of the puzzles can also be a bit annoying. These basically require you to use correct abilities to correct hot spot. Especially early in the game when you don't know how all the abilities and hot spots work, you might get stuck for a while. The main problem here is that game doesn't always explain itself very well and you have to figure out yourself how many game mechanics work.

In the end, these issues are relatively minor and were out-weighted by all the great South Park stuff. The game length was ok. Maybe 15 hours or a bit less on average if you do most of the quests. Less if you just run through the main plot.

(The game references the show extensively. Even stuff that happened during early seasons. If you haven't watched the show I wouldn't recommend this game to you. Also if you're easily disgusted or offended, I'd play something else.)

I haven't completed the story, but It's great so far. Funny, intriguing, and using the south park universe's characters perfectly. In addition to complex, strategic battle, the overworld is fun as well, where you're given puzzles and chances to interact with the environment to get collectables or deal environmental kills. This game is just designed beautifully. All of the elements complement each other perfectly.

So, why didn't I give this game a 10? Well, for a few reasons. First of all, the game is short, I've heard that it can be completed in as little as 10 hours. Since this game is so addicting, you'll probably be playing 2hour sessions, so the game will be complete much faster than you'd expect from a game bearing a whopping $60 price tag. Second of all, this game is buggy. I'm sure this will be patched eventually, but I've encountered game breaking bugs 3 times, which forced me to load earlier saves. Buyer beware that the game isn't yet perfect. Finally, the god damned key mashing events. If you have any sort of disability, carpal tunnel, or are just plain slow when tapping buttons, you may not be able to progress further than 2 hours into the game. Mashing the S key is required in both the pooping minigame, and on the alien spaceship. If you can't mash your keyboard EXTREMELY fast, then you may be wasting your money. It took me 10 minutes to successfully pass the alien spaceship scene. The button mashing QuickTime events are by far the hardest part of the game.

Overall, the game will be well worth it once a patch fixes the bugs and key mashing events. But if you can get past those, then there's a really beautiful game here.

What stands this game apart from most other licensed games (Arkham games included) is the writing. Every line of dialogue every plot device feels like something that would happen in the show; not some contrivance to artificially expand the games length.
There are negatives; the combat is a bit shallow, the classes don't feel different enough and the loot is repetitive; but these seem minor when balanced against the positives.
When it comes to licensed products in any medium I always look for something that recreates the "feel" of the original; in The Stick of Truth I see the best example of this that I can remember and if it had a more robust combat system it would have been perfect. As it is, it's still the most enjoyable game I have played in the last three years.

Great game if you like south park would give it 10/10. But with out the aspects from the series i cannot give it that high a score. It's RPG elements are a bit old and slow. All the special attacks take a rly long time to cast. As an RPG a 5/10 so i settle somewhere in between.

And that was all well and good for the entire game but that was for ME. I would give this a 10/10 for personal experience and this was easily my favorite turn-based RPG to come out since the original Paper Mario game for the N-64 but I will warn that if you are not a hardcore fan of South Park, you may find this game to be repetitive, disturbing, and possibly your ticket into Hell every time you laugh at a Nazi Zombie fetus in an abortion clinic, or when you have to avoid your dad's balls while you battle underneath your parents having sex, but hey, if you're a fan you will love it. This is the craziest thing that Matt and Trey have done since the SP Movie and Team America in my humble opinion.

    One last thing. CANADA!!!!

This game was made FOR the fans of the South Park franchise, if you are not a fan of the show, you won't enjoy it and I feel a majority of the complaints come from people who don't actually enjoy South Park that much; which presents an interesting question, if you aren't a fan of the franchise, why are you buying a game that is obviously designed to be a delight for the fans?

The game, story, characters and writing are all a delight. The turn based combat had me slightly concerned as it's a fairly old way to go about running a RPG, but it works out well by incorporating new, fresh and fair mechanics that allow you to fully enjoy it without ever feeling like it's a full time job to play.

Another complaint I feel that is entirely invalid is the complaint of the game's length. Many people have voiced complaints about the length of the game - this game isn't about the time spent, but the experience it presents as you play it. People complaining about the game's play time are simply trolls or jerks at best.

If you are a fan it's an amazing game to play, the perfect amount of time spent playing it and well worth the cost of admission.

The story is epic in a South Park sense, and it is disgusting, offensive and just plain hilarious. It takes a piss on typical RPG elements, like the abilities are pretty much jokes on typical RPG skills. And it also makes jokes on how silly some RPG elements are in general.

The graphics are amazing, as it completely captures the essence of the show, it look great but also terrible because of how simple the show is created in the first place. I spent about 15 hours to complete the game, and I did most of the side missions I found, one could argue that it is a bit short for a game. And I do wish it was long, but the 15 hours was awesome, so it was well worth the price in my opinion.

The game was also almost bug free, which is surprising since it was made by Obsidian entertainment, which is knows for good games, but also very buggy games. But throughout my playtime I had only 2 bugs, one was a minor graphical bug in one cut-scene, and another I lost sound, but it fixed itself by restarting the game.

The attention to detail in this game is amazing, the amount of references and small touches all over, is just staggering. The fan service is truly great in this game, but can be a bit overwhelming I think, if you are not a fan of the series. Some of the shops and locations has music that is from the show, and other stuff to, like Team America. I just love small details like that in games, as it shows the passion behind the project.

Lastly I just want to say that this game is a great achievement, as it is one of the best or even THE best licensed game I have ever played. And not only that, in my opinion it is the best thing to have come from South Park so far. Because of this I just can't give this game anything else than a perfect score, as it did something I did not expect. It surpassed my expectations and it even surpassed the source material.

However, my beef is with the fact that at some point it became ok for game developers to charge $60 for a game with no replayability and can be completed in ~10 hours. Why and when did this become ok? I make a policy to average any game score I play with a Zero simply because of this.

I would rate this game a 8-9 with the only knock being that it's controls are a bit awkward and they don't allow them to be changed. But I cannot, not for 10 hours of gameplay at $60. So you get a 4 and Ubisoft gets another strike in my book.

The controls can seriously get in the way at times (to those having frustration with learning the "spells", keep an eye on the little device that orbits the oval - this was completely non-obvious and frustrating to me until I saw it - and it's not very prominent at all. Later on, there's a dance you have to do with the goth kids that will fail 100% of the time until you realize you have to use the arrow keys instead of the WASD keys the way you play the rest of the game. I only had one quest completely fail on me and it was the first quest, so loading the most recent save point was pretty benign.

The entire experience is level-ramped, which means that whatever you encounter will be at the right level for you to find it challenging. The problem with rigorous level ramping is that it effectively ends up not mattering whether you level at all. Level ramping feels cheap in an RPG. The gameplay mechanics are very simple, and there is absolutely no replay value.

It ends up being mildly amusing, which is a real shame, because it starts off being hilarious. The plot is about four of the TV series plotlines stitched together, and it definitely feels like it. The plot ends up feeling like a checklist:" "Did we include aliens? Check. Crab people? Check. Mr. Slave's rectum? Check. The double-cross from the most recent episodes that led up to the release of this game? Check. Al Gore? Check.

If this were a $20 game, I'd feel it pretty much satisfies, but for $60, I expect a lot more depth, and I certainly don't expect level ramping.

The selection of weapons and stickers are large but unnecessary due to the incredibly short length of this game and youll never even use 3/4 of them sticking with the strongest weapon you have for a few levels or not finding weapons in the right order and being unable to use them or having them already be worthless. .
this game takes about 1 day to beat and has absolutely no replay value whatsoever other than maybe siding with one side or another and even then the jokes would wear thin and you'd have already seen much of it. overall. Way over hyped, underdone and lacking content/substance.

Over the course of the game, I was disappointed to discover that this game was a disordered collection of clips from old episodes mixed with decent gameplay, and perhaps a single episode's worth of new content. As a long-time fan of the series, the endless references grew tiresome.

I love South Park, which always been a series which has balanced profanity with profundity, but this game upsets this balance. The best example of this is that when outside of combat, your right-click is a fart button. It does not affect the environment in any way other than causing the person you farted on to say a line of dialogue.

The episodes leading up to this game's release were an excellent parody of Game of Thrones, so this (combined with my love for Obsidian) led me to believe this game would continue this trend, making it an RPG filled with story-altering choices. This was in no way the case, with only one choice you make even slightly altering the story. This, combined with every class being able to use the same weapons and equipment (with the exception of a few special abilities), makes for a game with limited replayability.

Now you might be thinking "Wait! This is an RPG, the main story doesn't matter! Side-quests were the star of Skyrim and Fallout!". Well, you're wrong. There are many side-quests in this game, but almost all of them are collectibles or fetch-quests, and even after completing all of these the game is perhaps 14 hours in length.

One of the most important things in RPGs is a sense of progression and power as your level increases, and while the player is rewarded for leveling up by receiving new special abilities, your enemies level with you so that you're always being challenged. While this may sound good on paper, it means that a feral dog you encounter in the woods after 12 hours of play gives you the same challenge it did the first time you encountered it, in spite of your new weapons and power.

On top of all of this, the game is an absolute mess on the PC. None of the controls can be altered, and the game has a war going on between the wsad and arrow keys. Walking around, wsad are used, but when scrolling through menus or doing certain special moves (i.e. Jimmy's sleep spell, goth dance) the arrow keys are required. The frame rate is limited to 30 FPS, and your only video option is to change the resolution. I experienced several bugs which required me to load an earlier save, mainly when using ally's special abilities. Luckily, there is an excellent autosave feature.

Now for the positive side of the review. The game looks exactly like a South Park episodes, with even the most unique special abilities being stylistically consistent with what we've come to expect from the series. The game exists somewhere between 2D and 3D, depending which part of the map you're in. While this normally causes no issue, certain parts of the game appear 2D but actually have a 3D entrance or exit.

In short, the Stick of Truth feels like a good $20 game, but does not have nearly the writing, length, or playability worthy of a $60 adventure. When it drops down to a reasonable price point, I encourage you to get it, provided you don't mind playing with a controller.

There's a good amount of the TV show character voices - you get to meet most of the cast, and they have 2-3 phrases they say, plus they can send you some messages on the in-game facebook equivalent.

Gameplay wise, this is a lite version of RPG, and while there's a lot of outfits you can wear, all of them are level locked, meaning that you cannot wear all the stuff you find, and after you level up, some stuff becomes totally useless.

In terms of combat mechanics, the game tries to be an action RPG, but kinda fails at it. You get to use skills and can tap some keys to make your skills better, you tap keys to block. There's armor, shield, maybe 8 different buffs and debuffs, but all of them feel rather extraneous, and even on hardcore mode, most bosses and enemies die in just a few rounds.

There's a fairly small number of side quests you can complete, and sometimes that requires the use of party members and their special abilities.

After a few hours, the gameplay gets repetitive, and the challenge disappears. This game is not worth the hype and 60$ price tag. Maybe for 20$ this would be a cool game to play over a weekend.

There were even some points where I wasn't totally sure how they got this or that into a mainstream game. Even if you're used to South Park, it's sometimes that bad. In a good way.

I'm not totally sure if I should be rating it this high, what with the rampant bugs, barely passable gameplay, and mindless collecting quests...... but damn it, this game has personality! It's worth a playthrough at least.

Simply put, the best South Park game to ever hit the shelves. As a game it self, there is little to be super impressed about, its a turn based RPG with timing clicks in combat. For South park fans it's an absolute must-play. I heard some of the same songs a few too many times, but the mechanics are solid and level design is crazy good (especially the Mr. Slave and Canada levels)

I really enjoyed SPTSOT, but the game was extremely short for an RPG and the payoff from doing side quests is miniscule. Let's start off with the positives. The jokes are a but lackluster, as I didn't find myself really laughing at all. Ironically, the gameplay, not the jokes, is what made this game fun. As I mentioned in my intro, the game is way too short. You'll finish everything (including side quests) in less than 15 hours. If you're playing this game on consoles, I'd recommend renting it. If you're playing on PC, just wait until it goes on sale for $20 or less, as that's around where the value of the content is. My other complaint is that the size and scope of South Park is too small. The South Park map is the size of a small neighborhood, which is underwhelming for an RPG. I know I'm being a bit harsh. but the game is being sold as a full retail game, so the bar is set a bit higher as a result. Expand

The game is Epic if you are a South Park fan. There really is nothing else that needs to be said. However, metacritic forces me to continue typing... so I endure this struggle.

It really does stay true to South Park, but if you're looking for something original or new, or a quality RPG experience, stay away. If you'd like a trip down memory lane... Get it (unless you're bad at games).

    My rating is meh.

I must be getting old, because even though I have watched every season of South Park and can appreciate how well-crafted this game is, there's something about Stick of Truth that's a bit like wondering through a town of over-familiarity and crudeness. The combat is fun at first, but after a while it soon transpires that you cannot really fail, there's not much of a challenge. Fortunately the script, side-missions and loot, all make this interactive South Park episode into a kind of ok RPG game of sorts. Still I think it's squarely aimed at South Park fans, so I'm not sure I'd recommend it to those who might have a bit of an issue with learning how to launch a fart spell called the Nagasaki, or play as a Jew whose best weapon is called the Sling of David. This is a very fun, very dirty game based on the series on Comedy Central. The game is straight from the guys who make the show and it's extremely funny. Plus it gets away with a few more things that the T.V. show can't and there's alot to love here. If you don't already like the show, this won't change your mind. It will probably make you hate it even more. But there's alot to love here. This is a very fun, very dirty game based on the series on Comedy Central. While the game is really fun it is also very easy. There's very little to grind here and very little in terms of moves. This is a very stripped down RPG and it definitely doesn't have alot of depth to it. It's goes by the way its humor goes and that goes a long way in my book. Other than that, the controls are hit or miss at times. Everything else about this game is fun and exciting and you will have a wonderful time playing it. Definitely a can't miss game IF you like the series at all.

First off, I would like to say that I am a huge South Park Fanatic, so my analysis of the game is coming from the eyes of a big fan of the show. It has the pity, foul and interesting storyline that one would expect from the shows; with every bit of the satirical humor that I anticipated, as well as a surprisingly fun gameplay, inspired by the old-school turn-based RPG’s such as Paper Mario. The game is filled with side quests and humorous dialogue that keeps the player entertained whilst interested in where the story will take you next. I absolutely recommend this game for anyone who enjoys the show and every person who is keen in experiencing a hilarious and remarkable gaming experience that will have you sucked in the South Park universe and relishing every second of it. Amazing game. One of the best tie-in's. True to its source material is an understatement. The presentation is the best possible apart from some stutters and the story is one of the best for the series. It really matches the show's character, the video game character and it makes you feel like a kid playing rpg's in your neighbourhood.

I think I would like to have the whole party in all of my battles and I would like probably bigger battles, but from a non-RPG gamer, like me, this is the first turn based RPG that I actually enjoyed. The first time I really enjoyed browsing through the menus and my powers and weapon stap-ons!

Great game. They nailed it what they were aiming for and full of the crazy ideas from the masterminds behind South Park. Funniest game ever.

For an Ubisoft game, this takes the cake as one of the best games there is. It's South Park at it's best. The humor, the characters, the stupidity and the classic "Nothing is Sacred!" attitude is all there. I've had more fun with this game than with major titles by other big developers. Actually, I can't remember when I had this much fun with a game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This has to be one of the best games of all time. Its excellent RPG and for the most part makes you feel like your character could be a part of the South Park universe. Its a quality game that is fun and and something different. I cannot wait for some DLC to come out as Ive already beaten the main store and many side quests.

I find the negative reviews are very curmudgeon like. Yes, you will need to know the series but even if you have a cursory knowledge then you will get a good portion of the inside jokes. Any time I experienced anything even moderately glitchy it has zero impact and lasted for maybe half a second, and maybe happened three times all game.

In regards to choice and customization, no character ever built by anyone will be the same as someone elses. There are millions of combinations, almost infinite. I dont get the complaints about how if you want to be a thief and act like a Mage as if its an issue, its is your choice. Your a child, in South Park, LARPing, of course you can do as you please. I generally kept my character in the role and didnt have a problem but also experimented with other combinations. This is the worst complaint ever. Disregard any posts which complain about choice.

There is zero reason not to play the game in my opinion based on the negatives therefore I have to give it a ten because the enjoyment I had playing the game was far and away better

Whether you pay full price now or wait until it goes on sale you should buy this game and play it. I cannot wait to give more money to play an expansion.

I was happy to get the full uncut version as it was not meant for every country. So here is my experience (no Spoiler)

After the first Minutes of introduction, South Park directly strikes with his trump card.
Basically the hole Game is designed exactly like the TV Series, which gives the player an extra portion of South Park Charme straight from the beginning.
Just as we arrive in the neighbourhood we directly meet Cartman who introduces us to the world and the gameplay.

After some minutes we know the basic mechanics of South Park and are able to work on the quests that are given to us.
    So far so good.

The gameplay mechanics reminds me to titles like Final Fantasy or Heroes of Might an Magic, but with much less complexity.
So there is where the game has obviously its biggest issue: The gameplay is very soft RPG gameplay, that has very funny ideas, but lacks in depth.
So we can find many things as equippment, but in most cases it doesnt really care what calls you are playing with. Especially the Jew Class doesnt find as much things and always builds a mixture of different Items not directly related to the Jew class.

But besides this. South Park completely holds what it has promised. An outrageous story thats typical for South Park and tons of jokes. The story gets more weird the more it progresses and tthe little minigames are just enough fun to at least not get too bored till the end of the game. (10 - 12 hours max).

Technically South Park is a rating of about 6-7/10 but implying that mostly fans will have an interest on this ill give it an 8/10 because with the South Park bonus its worht 1 point more!
