    Very good tactical stealth action that could be great if it not for the major problems with artificial intelligence. But for lenient players it still offers a pleasant portion of good entertainment, great atmosphere and hedonistic blasting.

    The series has barely evolved since Sniper Elite 2 – it got stuck in World War II and one gameplay blueprint. Even the visuals are outdated. Moreover I simply can’t take Karl Fairburne’s exploits seriously as he singlehandedly clears whole villages full of Nazis, takes on tanks and for the third time shoots Hitler in the nuts in the DLC.     It really is testament to the gruesome enjoyability of those hyper gory killcams that, even after four games, the sniping continues to be satisfying enough to warrant a look in. Sniper Elite 4 doesn’t miss its target, then, but it plays things safe enough to guarantee the kill without any undue risks.

    What we’ve got here is a solid stealth-action core with some lovely level design – both visually and in terms of the vast array of possible ways to accomplish your objectives – wrapped up in something equal parts drab and cynical. The gore, the Farmvilleish reward system: these are there as contrived hooks for the less discerning man-shooter enthusiast. It’s highly telling that the rest of the game would be barely effected if these were removed...I do like that core, though.

    I've played SE2 and SE3 before this, 4 is my favorite by far. Yeah, their is a basic tale and some characters look like they snook in from sniper elite 2 but Sniper elite 4 is not about story its about killing a nazi batallion before they know what hit them. I would highly recommend a pure stealth authentic difficulty playthrough as the reward is great kinda like soulsborne games. All in all sniper elite 4 is a great showcase of stealth in its purist form like hitman great fun and worth a buy. If you like any stealth games.… Full Review »
