    Serious Sam’s Bogus Detour is a seriously fun game bogged down by a couple of serious problems. If you’re a big Serious Sam fan, have online friends to play with, or you’re just looking for a challenging twin stick shooter, then this game is worth its $15 price tag. Just be aware that the multiplayer is pretty much dead, some of the game design needs a bit of polish, and there’s not much content outside of workshop maps.

    Bogus Detour is a quite enjoyable spin-off, particularly in its multiplayer mode. We think fans of the series will like it, even if it is a little bit simple and it doesn't take any risks.

    Bogus Detour attempts to bring back the series to its former glory by returning to the classic gameplay that we all loved from the First and Second Encounters, but in 2D.

    The game is designed very simple: You find guns and shoot enemies. The game is pretty straightforward and has some secret areas, and it is actually quite difficult to find all of them. There are "Stars" that you can find which allow you to buff Sam and make the game easier, but they aren't necessary to win.

    The game isn't very long; there's less than a dozen maps which are split between three regions. The game gets increasingly difficult as you progress, and it introduces unique enemies and weapons that you have not seen in previous games. Once you reach the final region, the difficulty skyrockets, forcing you to play defensively and making it impossible to rambo through.

    Overall, you won't regret playing this game. It is hard to give an estimate how long the game is, because it depends entirely on how long you're stuck on the final region (seriously). I would say that content-wise, the game should be around eight hours long, but completion-wise, a casual gamer might need 12+ hours to beat the game. I'd say that $5 or less is a good price for it now.

    The game also comes with a survival mode as well as multiplayer. Unfortunately, because the game is practically non-existent, nobody plays multiplayer anymore, meaning you'll have to invite your own friends or join the popular Serious Sam group to arrange a party.    … Full Review »
