It's got some flaws and it's not very long or replayable--you'll probably finish it in 12 to 15 hours, without much incentive to go back to the beginning--but it's fun while it lasts.
-
Those are the game’s main transgressions, but you do get used to them and learn how to avoid most of the major problems. You’ll want to take the effort too, because at its heart Second Sight is a good game whose rewards outweigh its frustrations.
-
Although the storyline and the graphics are still up there, the fact that the control system seems to be insistent on gamers using a keyboard/mouse combo does actually ruin the responsive feel that a console/PC controller gives you.
-
Clunky controls and an average presentation prohibit this game from being any better than it is.
-
Second Sight's visuals are more balanced than its gameplay.
-
The camera, AI and dreadful respawning conspire to cause great damage to an otherwise enjoyable yarn.
-
PC FormatSo nearly entertaining, but the controls are just too crummy. [March 2005, p.96]
-
PC GamerIf feats of mind over matter were really possible, this game would be a lot better. [May 2005, p.72]
-
If you like the sound of Second Sight, make sure you play it on a console. It is possible, we suppose, that you might get on with the PC version, but in truth we just can't see it.
-
BoomtownMore troubling is the fact that, while it’s easy to aim your crosshair at any part of a locked-on enemy’s body, it’s much harder to switch between multiple targets be they men or explosive barrels.
