Nov 11, 2011Saints Row The Third surprised the heck out of me. The GTA comparisons are inevitable, but they are vastly different games. While both hold a mirror up to reality, the reflections are vastly different. As absurd as GTA gets, it still keeps one foot firmly planted in reality. Saints Row has taken a flying leap off the roof of reality, howling the F-bomb while chugging a licensed energy drink all the way down… and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Nov 14, 2011Despite some shortcomings in the graphics department and an occasionally questionable AI, Saints Row: The Third is a great game with an amazing open word experience and loads of crazy funny action.
-
Jan 18, 2012This game is magic. Occasionally offensive and funny magic, but magic nonetheless.
-
PC PowerPlayDec 4, 2011Sexy, sloppy, silly, sassy, and substantial; everything you could want in a sandbox. [Christmas 2011, p.50]
-
Nov 28, 2011Some teething issues aside, Saints Row: The Third offers up an expertly mixed concoction of hilarity and stupidity that's arrived just in time for the silly season.
-
Nov 18, 2011A big surprise. Very few would bet on Volition's new game and as it turns out Saints' adventures are an addictive sandbox game full of absurd sense of humor and break-neck action. The storyline pulls you in from the beginning, level variations exterminate boredom and the streets of Steelport are full of additional things to do that make the game last longer.
-
Nov 16, 2011Saints Row The Third never lets up, and that's to its credit. As someone who always shelved his free-roaming crime games once I ran through the plot, Saints Row The Third is the first sandbox game to keep my attention once it's done. And with more DLC on the way, it looks like it's going to have an incredible amount of staying power.
-
Jan 3, 2012Saints Row: The Third certainly proves that the third time is the charm if your system is strong enough.
-
Nov 30, 2011The Third perfectly refines the franchise's style and attitude amongst a sea of other clones and AAA releases. It stands out in every way and, dare I say, can give GTA a run for its money.
-
Feb 29, 2012The main difference between GTA and Saints Row is that, while Rockstar's infamous franchise seems to grow and mature as the years go by (like whiskey), Volition's sandbox follows the exact opposite path. Each chapter is more wacky than the last, its satirical approach uses extreme, adult- even vulgar humor and intense violence, to the point where one can only childishly giggle.
-
Dec 19, 2011When it comes down to it, Saints Row the Third, is a rather unique getaway from reality, the mix of scenarios and mission will keep you entertained, and in many cases challenged.
-
Dec 2, 2011Fantastic missions, outrageous weapons, and awesome vehicles make the open-world mayhem of Saints Row: The Third an absolute blast.
-
PC Games (Russia)Nov 23, 2011The series ascends to a whole new level. [December 2011, p.69]
-
Nov 21, 2011Saints Row: The Third gives the people what they want and drops us into an open world adult theme park where we can treat ourselves to delightful acts of bloodshed and perversion. It doesn't take itself too seriously and only asks that you don't, either.
-
Nov 11, 2011Quotation forthcoming.
-
Nov 11, 2011It's mad. In fact, it barely makes any sense at all. But for all its wonky bits, there's an odd charm to Volition's decision to leave nothing on the drawing board. It's not the largest sandbox, but it is packed full of brilliant toys. Saints Row: The Third's commitment to unrestricted, ridiculous fun is unflinching, and the product is a city full of glorious slapstick debauchery.
-
CD-ActionNov 29, 2011I really encourage you to immerse yourselves in the silliness, absurdity, craziness and shamelessness of Volition's latest game. [December 2011, p.86]
-
Nov 22, 2011This is not the most creative title. However, the amount of gameplay is so insane you will enjoy this ride by Volition mad men for a god damn long time. And maybe, a few months later, you will still remember your walk in a city with a helmet of the Imperial Army.
-
Nov 15, 2011Saints Row: The Third is junk food; it's camp; it's a girl you wouldn't want your friends to catch you with. It's also fun, crude without being stupid, fast-paced without feeling empty, and solidly made (aside from the aforementioned bugs).
-
Nov 15, 2011With excellent writing, strong variety, lots of stuff to do and an incredibly fun and endearing attitude, Saints Row 3 is one of the most quirky games to come out in 2011. The combat could still be deeper and the AI is still noticeably weak and coupled with some technical deficiencies and a disappointing extra mode, Saints Row 3 strictly settles for being great, but it that's more than enough to warrant a recommendation.
-
LEVEL (Czech Republic)Jan 19, 2012Remarkable and technically excellent urban action game comes with hilarious characters and catchy cooperative mode. Passive environment and repetitive content sunk the final verdict down. [Christmas 2011]
-
Dec 16, 2011Volition wrote a more or less coherent story, squeezed 101% out of the "sandbox minigame compilation" concept, improved the physics engine, and finally made a decent PC version, but the end result feels too derivative and forced. The surprisingly short single-player campaign (15 hours if you're not trying to comb an entire map) doesn't help.
