    Considering the year it was released, it still has beautiful graphics, but it also has a mediocre story and repetitive gameplay. Overall, it's an average game. Crytek wanted to make a different game at the time, but I don't think they succeeded. There is nothing memorable or special about Ryse Son Of Rome. Probably the main purpose of making this game was to better introduce the Cry Engine engine.

    For a Xbox one launch title the visuals are amazing combat is also spectacular I’ve played through this game twice honestly heavily underrated gem.

    Боевая система хоть и не перегружена, но очень эффектная.
    Сюжет же одно из главный достоинств игры, как и главный её недостаток. Сама же история хоть и не блистала оригинальностью (прим. эпизод с гладиаторскими боями), но внушала, работала и погружала. Возможно, в какой то момент, кто-то из производственного процесса    Эпический Hack and Slash пропитанный килотонной кинематографичности.
    Боевая система хоть и не перегружена, но очень эффектная.
    Сюжет же одно из главный достоинств игры, как и главный её недостаток. Сама же история хоть и не блистала оригинальностью (прим. эпизод с гладиаторскими боями), но внушала, работала и погружала.
    Возможно, в какой то момент, кто-то из производственного процесса посчитал, что крестьянам будет скучно играть в серьёзное произведение и на кой-то притянули сюда фэнтезийные элементы. В самой игре их мало, но на их основе решили склепать концовку. Концовка настолько плоха, что убивает всю мотивацию и логику. Вырежь ты этих божков, дай персонажам (людям) отвечать за свои поступки, то мы могли бы получить настоящее драматическое произведение о преданности, предательстве и зависти. В место же этого всё переложили на совесть богов. Не буду спойлерить, но концовка поражает своей бессмысленностью. Хоть финал и обесценили, всё же сама игра и практически все её аспекты находятся на высоком уровне.

    Short and Bitter-Sweet

    If you are into Rome this game is for you.

    10/10 Graphics to this day, could have been a PS5 game.
    Amazing Architecture with a fantasy feeling.
    Combat is satisfying and Bosses are easy to read.

    Story is really good but I wish it would be longer.

    Im rooting for RYSE 2 with more weapons and stuff like that.

    Overall a sold action game. Stunning visually, it has a good story and interesting setting. The action game play starts off fun but it fails to really evolve and can feel repetitive by the end. Worth getting cheap as it is quite short but still worth a play.

    Типичный стартовый консольный эксклюзив :) Графонистый, пафосный, но при этом с примитивным геймплеем и средненьким сюжетом. Казни понравились, сеттинг интересный, жаль, не раскрыли Мария получше. Ну и могли бы хотя бы несколько комбух завезти, а не два типа атаки да блок.     it is a fase pace and pretty solid game, but the main problems are breached story and repetitive gameplay: once you've learned all the combat moves, it will never change throughout the game

    Щодо гри- хороша гра про бойовку на мечах, просто, незамислувато, сюжет мені видався цікавим, не захоплюючим дух звичайно, просто цікавий.

    I remember, at one time, this project was a launch exclusive for Xbox One, and had to convince people to buy a prefix for it. If we consider the game from this side, then of course it is rather weak for a AAA level project, and I would be very upset if I bought it for a full price as a new generation game.

    But, since then 9 years have passed and now the situation has changed somewhat. Firstly, the game was very surprised by the graphics. Despite the fact that so many years have passed, it looks great, and in some places even beautiful by modern standards. And what is important, the system requirements are ridiculous, which indicates good optimization. The plot, atmosphere, music, sounds, all this is also very good.There are only complaints about the combat system, because it is as simple as two fingers, and even a small child will quickly figure it out without any prompts. I liked the executions, at the first two levels you admire everyone in general, but by the end of the game, of course, they already get bored.

    In general, if you look at the game well, it seems that apart from the visual, there is nothing in it, but I can’t say that this is a minus. Personally, I wanted a peppy action game for a couple of evenings, and that's exactly what I got, only a good visual and setting as a bonus. And yes, do not take it as a historical game, this is a real representative of the peplum genre that Hollywood has been churning out throughout the last century. Again, for me personally, this is not a minus.

    To sum it up, I understand why the game didn't make a splash on release and now it's hardly remembered. The same thing happened to Sony with Order 1886, both games are like beautiful tech demos with a normal plot, but too simple gameplay. But this is the same case when time has passed, and the game has not become worse, perhaps even better, because now it does not try to be what it was not. All in all, it was a pleasant surprise. Feel free to take it if you are looking for a pleasant light game for a couple of evenings    … Expand

    The truth is that the game is entertaining but what I don't even like is that the final scene will always have a flashback where we are told the story of the character the handling of the movements made me somewhat uncomfortable but I ended up fixing it the graphics are good the difficulty is acceptable and the story is not very complex.

    Gameplay: Despite ppl complaing about it being repetetive i disagree it's fairly similiar to God Of War ( the new one) executions are fun to do and watch however lack of more skills and fighting options is dissapointing even a several executions involving 3 enemies at once and would have made a diffrence here neverthless it's second strongest aspect of game i give it 8/10.

    Sound: It's perfectly average there's nothing good or bad about it 6/10

    Plot: It's weak very weak in fact it's basiccly giant revenge ark for main protagonist which could've been incredible if there was actually some character building and plot building beside endless slaying of enemies i won't even go into plot holes 3/10

    Length: This is not really category but must be stated at the equivalent of hard difficulty it took me a bit over 5h to bet the game which is very short for single player game i infact remember several longer campaings in games like CoD or BF. The issue is compounded by the fact that there's nothing to do after it yes you can theoreticlly play through campaign again but i doubt many will be interested in that the saviour here could have been arena but multiplayer is dead and singleplayer there is a joke i can of the top of my head name several cool modes that could have been implemented there like some survival with increasingly difficult enemies time attack etc. i give this category 1/10

    Concluding this could've been an incredible game but it was either rushed of they run out of time or it was just plain laziness i don't know it's just a waste of potential in my opinion i give this game 7/10 i spend nice 5h in there considering i got the game for 1 Euro i find it acceptable but at higher prices it's really not worth it in my opinion.    … Expand

Very linear and combat can be repetitive but once your unlock all the combos and executions, it is very fun to watch.     An absolutely amazing experience and the most underrated game ever made! Totally recommend it! I've already done 2 playthroughs and I still to do one or many more because of how satisfying the combat is, it is simple but it is really fun. Totally recommended

    Quite short, good graphic, nice and repetitive gameplay and good setting. The problem is that this game feels like a tech demo and the developers didn't want to invest more resources to create an actual game. Action games set during Roman era are not common so I hope for a sort of sequel

    I miss 3d combat games like this. Playing games like AC Origins and Shadow of Mordor with looting mechanics and a large open world map gets tiring. A short but combat heavy game like this is a gem. I don't mind the so called repetitive combat cause literally every combat game has this. Also, love the ancient roman setting. Not 10/10 cause the story is very cliché and the characters feelI miss 3d combat games like this. I personally liked the characters in the game, because the game shows the story of the characters not only, but also allows you to get used to the character. The game's fighting system is brutally impressive, with so much mechanics and killing animation. The game's graphics look impressive, even on low graphics it looks very nice because the textures don't blend and don't look like PlayStation 1 graphics. The enemies of the game were also fun with a few different soldiers with different skills and tactics, but I wanted more different soldiers with different skills. The music in the game is very great and good, very satisfying in the action of the excitement. In the game you can upgrade your character with certain skills and in the game you can look for an interesting collection, but they will not give you any skill.

    The game is truly awesome and worthy of attention with a fascinating story and architecture, not only but the characters are cool, interesting and the most fighting system and mechanics are very amazing. I would rate this game 9/10.    … Expand

The biggest problems of the game are optimization and combat system. The performance on my computer (which is Geforce GTX 1070, Ryzen 5 3600X and 16GB of RAM) was just awful.     Desde que lançou esse game não joguei por que a galera na net criticou muito por ser um game linear e curto.
    Resolvi dar uma chance e me surpreendi muito.
    A historia é muito boa, modo de combate incrivel principalmente as finalizações.
    Recomendo, bom game pra zerar.

    I really liked this game. Very interesting and exciting plot, with no less interesting gameplay. BUT there is one minous. Very short game. If i wanted to get through the game quickly, i would have completed it in 6 hours at the maximum difficulty level.

    The story feels great and for the first time playing as a Roman Centurion/General, it felt amazing. I loved to see bits and pieces of military strategies used, was repetitive here and there, but overall it is a game you have to try out before anything else.

Nevertheless, it didn't happen, campaign is too short and definately not exciting, but the main disadvantage is    Wasted potential. Game to forget.

    This was a pretty decent game which has some flaws but they are not overwhelming.The Visuals 70% of the time are pretty amazing and beautiful showing you great environments , and action.There were some pretty badly animated parts but those were like 10 % of all the Visuals and the other 20% were just alright and nothing special. Gameplay is one of the weakest parts for me due the fact that after 1 hour it becomes just doing a mundane task of killing waves of enemies that only have like 4 skins and barely change , clear this wave , push that thing , defend that point, get's boring as hell really fast. Music was pretty good and the voice acting was alright for the most parts. Multiplayer is the same as single player but with other players(Woah I know) 7/10… Expand

    Начав прохождение, я сразу же понял, что в игре присутствуют как блестящие достоинства, так и заметные недостатки. В игре великолепные графика и анимация, и это неудивительно, ведь разработкой занималась студия Crytek,    Ryse: Son of Rome
    Игра с самого начала привлекла меня своей атмосферой. Рим в нулевых веках нашей эры, да еще и с упором на реализм, мало в каких играх можно встретить.
    Начав прохождение, я сразу же понял, что в игре присутствуют как блестящие достоинства, так и заметные недостатки. В игре великолепные графика и анимация, и это неудивительно, ведь разработкой занималась студия Crytek, подарившая миру Crysis, игру, которая некогда привнесла графический некстген в игровую индустрию. Некоторые анимационные детали поражали. В одном моменте главный герой потягивает носом, но делает это аккуратно, будто прочищая его, с соответствующей анимацией и звуком к ней. Такое внимание к деталям не может не радовать. Этому прекрасно аккомпанирует постановка драк и в целом кат-сцен. В какие-то моменты ты можешь забыть, что играешь в игру жанра экшен. Также все это дополняет довольно крепкий сюжет, который может и не заслуживает Оскар, из-за некоторых предсказуемых частей, но тем не менее может удивить и заинтересовать игрока.
    Но, к сожалению, не обошлось и без недостатков. Оптимизация удивила и огорчила, ведь игре 2014 года не престало проседать до 30 ФПС на сборке из Ryzen 2600, 2070 Super и 16 ГБ ОЗУ. И вторым минусом, лично для меня, стала боевка.     All, in all, it deserves a slightly better score than the average here, but seeing how you can pick it up for the price of renting a movie, it's definitely worth at least going through the campaign on regular difficulty.

    After all the bad press received for this game it’s actually a really decent game. It’s a basic hack and slash with a decent Single player and Co-op modes, with good replay ability in the co-op mode if you play with a friend, and unlike the Xbox version there’s no micro transactions. I would recommend getting it on sale though.

И вот на этой карте игра раскрылась на все 100%!
    Ну, что можно сказать. Красота неимоверная (только на самых высоких настройках), картинка сочная, стильная и плавная, Crytek всё таки. Анимация на высоте, многим современным играм до такого расти и расти!
    Боевая система не совсем обычная, чем то похожа на боёвку из Batman: Arkham Asylum. Все удары завязаны на четыре, разноцветные кнопки. По началу непривычно, но когда я привык.......на экране творился какой то кровавый хаос, кишки, головы, зубы, отрубленные ноги, руки, огуречик, разлетались в разные стороны! Короче красота!!! Только есть одно условие: играть надо только и исключительно на геймпаде от Xbox 360, у меня к счастью такой был. Кто не играл, мой совет: ни каких клавиатур! Игра просто потеряет 70% своего очарования. Скорее всего низкие оценки связаны именно с тем, что в Ryse: Son of Rome пытались играть на клаве или на другом джойстике. Даже не пытайтесь! Это тоже самое, как если бы какой нибудь Maserati GranCabrio заправить дешёвой соляркой и удивляться: "А чой то он ни едит не хрена, а?"
    Теперь о сюжете. Ну меня он просто порадовал. В меру драматичен, есть элементы интриги, предательство, месть.

    Что самое главное нам дадут всё таки отомстить, а не как в давешнем The Last of Us Part II! При том в этой игре мы играем за настоящего мужика, а не за трансвестита, девчонку, или бесполую бабищу! Кстати дадут набить морду страшной тетке! Теперь таких игр не делают. Никакой толерантности!!!
    Игра не такая уж длинная, но захватывает достаточно большой промежуток времени. Надоесть не успевает. Есть элементы прокачки, но совсем не замороченные, вполне хватает до конца игры.
    Чего в игре нет так это открытого мира, она сугубо линейна, хотя может это даже плюс. Вокруг тебя всегда, что то происходит и ты всегда в центре событий.
    Ещё один плюс, это конечно полная локализация, иногда есть рассинхрон с губами, но в целом очень качественно.
    Даже не знаю, почему ставлю ей не высший бал, наверное из за врагов. Они какие то однообразные. По сути дикари-британцы и гладиаторы в конце. Хотелось бы побольше мистики, что ли!
    Жаль, что игра получила достаточно холодный приём. Может в 2014м, мир ещё не был готов к таким экспромтам Crytek? К сожалению сиквел ждать не приходится. А жаль!    … Expand

    We are mostly fighting with sword and shield, on occasions with scorpion and javelins. There are few times we will command our units and lead them in formation. The slow time events are very important feature and are required to be mastered till the end game, however they're slowing down time so they're easy. Execution kills reward us with health or focus and are valuing our performance which doesn't seem to have huge impact.

    We can unlock various stats and execution animations by gaining experience. I haven't been able to unlock all but most. They make our character stronger.

    I wasn't initially very happy about boss fights but there are few, and the last ones are more challenging. The difficulty feels a bit off on Centurion, if not for bosses I'd say it's pretty easy, hence the time I spent playing it.

    I haven't touched multiplayer, but worth mentioning it exists. Smart and custom matches, customize your gladiator.

    Replay value 3/5
    The game is linear and can't approach even the main objectives differently. It has some collectibles. Chronicles are comics. There are total 39 and our showing some of stories related to characters in game.

    Scrolls are something like personal notes and there are 27. Vistas are nice pictures of places we visited. There is also music in collectibles unlocked.

    The highest difficulty (Legendary) unlocks after finishing game on Centurion (Hard). Game saves on checkpoints and we can replay by chapters as well.

    Beautiful characters and great animations, cinematics all over the game. Some characters look a bit worse than main ones and enemies are same people, which makes it easy to differentiate their types and how to fight them.

    I must mention that movement made me feel uneasy, and even after disabling the blur motion effect, I had issues, probably caused by simplistic control of character. Console port screams out loud here. Also some colored features trying to hold our hand.

    Camera sometimes does not show close up executions from right angle, so we can not time them right by seeing them but sound helps despite that.

    Apart from some chapters, game ran well, and when it lagged it was only short a not interrupting.

    So I suppose how much enjoyment you'll get out of Ryse depends on what you personally look for in video games and what you think they should be. Do you like over the top jaw dropping technical presentations and are willing to accept meh gameplay to behold them? Then you absolutely want to play Ryse. Do you loathe and despise linear, cutscene heavy, narrative driven games with QTEs? Then stay far away from Ryse.    … Expand

    Well it has amazing graphics and thats it. Combat is repetitive and by the books but its not boring. Story is very fotgettable and meh. But still a good game worth playing, thankfully its short if it was longer I wouldnt recommend it.

    This game is just pure fun . Tactical sword play , you can switch between , health , damage , xp and focus abilities. The executions are brutal spectacle. PC port wise it runs ok on my Intel card. 8/10

    For what the game attempts to be it succeeds. It is a fast paced combat game which requires good graphics as a selling point. It does have good graphics and an intense combat system. It isn't anything original or groundbreaking but I liked it.

    Interesting online component (it does remind me of Spartacus Legends) but already poor of players. Worthy in Co-op with a friend.

Crytek dropped the ball some where real hard.

    Its a shame, since the game isnt that bad. Combat might be somewhat repetative and lacking depth, but every stab, slice, amputation and execution feels quite satisfying even in last the minutes. However the boss fights felt quite disappointing, theyre very restrictive in terms how you can use the game's combat system. Levels, while pretty linear and restrictive in terms where you can go, look great due to Cryengine graphics and artistisc efforts put into them to make their historical settings feel alive. Soundtrack is pretty solid aswell. Story doesnt fair that badly either, it has a grandeur feeling to it and feels satisfying as you progress through it. I liked the inclusion of the mythical aspects aswell.

    I barely managed to convince msyelf to finish the game due to the abysmal lagg. Its a shame since for a 2013 game, it still holds up really well visually and offers a quite interesting adventure.    … Expand

Even at the end of 2018, around 5 years after its initial release, this game is high up there for contenders of best graphics and overall visuals in a video game. Running this game at 4K with a GTX 1060 on max graphics and it looks better than most modern games! The production value of Ryse is nothing short of top-tier, at least in terms of the content that's there. The art style, soundtrack, audio quality, cutscenes and especially the level of detail in the motion capture is impeccable. Despite its relatively short length (the game has 8 levels), it feels like a complete experience and doesn't outstay its welcome. Which brings me on to the other aspects of the game, graphics and production value aside.

    The story isn't particularly innovative in its plot or its execution, but it's certainly not tacked on. It's very straightfoward and well-paced, being mostly aided by its non-standard ancient Rome setting; though admittedly it could've capitalised on this more. The level design is also very bland uninspiring. Sure, there's plenty of collectibles and you probably won't get all of them in one run, but I have never played a game more linear than this one. The world is very small and each level is mostly the same but with different environments. Although this difference is novel in the last couple of levels, mostly it's just a change in scenery and not gameplay.

    This is where Ryse is most heavily criticized: the reptitive and basic gameplay. Whilst I can definitely see where critics are coming from, I also appreciate a simple but rock solid combat system. This game is literally the definition of hack and slash: you have your sword and shield attacks, alternating them in a suitable rhythm (so long as you don't do more than three of the same in a row) to defeat enemies. Of course, you also have the usual defense mechanics of evade and deflect, including parry for some heavy attacks. This is combined with a Batman Arkham style combo system, and genuinely feels satisfying when you have a good rhythm and can clear entire sections without taking any hits in a perfect freeflow. Even when that doesn't happen, the combat system is so unobtrosive that it's difficult to hate it.

    Of course, a game which is almost entirely reliant on combat can't get away with just that. So what makes Ryse different is its heavy emphasis on executions, which are basically a bunch of preset quick-time events that require to press either the sword or shield attack button to finish off your enemies in brutally violent manner. Although there are plenty of these and you unlock more throughout the game with the upgrade currency, towards the end you will inevitably recognise each one of them and can time your presses perfectly; though there are so many including environmental ones that it's never predictable which one you will get.
    Here's where things get really messed up though: if you fail the prompt by either not pressing the button in time or pressing th wrong button, the game automatically ocmplets the execution anyway, with no consequences other than your rating being lower. So the only thing that makes executions satisfying is getting the right button and timing perfect so that you can get a higher rating. What these ratings do? I'm still not sure. Presumably they give you higher XP and credits, allowing you to purchase upgrades more quickly.
    That's right: Ryse does have a very simplistic upgrade system for standard things like damage, health and even XP gain, and executions can grant bonuses on any of these depending on your choice (a system which is again familiar from games like Remember Me). So what else is there? Well, there are some very simple projectiles in the game: spears and spear cannons. However there is no aiming involved: the game automatically does that aiming and you just pull the trigger. This becomes hialriously absurd in the beginning of the last level.

    So, that brings me on to the conclusion. The short version is that Ryse isn't an innovative game, it's very repetitive and the gameplay is about as cookie-cutter as you can get. But in a world of overly complex systems, microtransactions, DLCs and so on, I must say that Ryse is one of the games I've been most impressed by recently. I've always had a soft spot for short, single-player experiences like Remember Me and Mirror's Edge (which are amongst my favourite games). Where it shines is its simplicity: take a historical setting, put a simple combat system in, add a decent story, wrap it around 8 levels and build it with state-of-the-art game engine and you're done.

    TL;DR: It's super-cheap on Steam, I got it for around £2 or £3. Repetitive, but gorgeous and high quality.    … Expand

    Ryse: Son of Rome immerses you in a visual feast of what was the Roman Empire. And as you begin your quest there is a feeling that something quite extraordinary could unfold at any moment. Unfortunately intrigue turns to drudgery with a linear story, repetitive game play mechanics and a mostly non-interactive world where long cut scenes leaving you wondering why this wasn't just made into a film.

    To boil the story to its most simplistic, it ends up being a boiler plate revenge story. Which I found to be incredibly disappointing, you’re in Ancient Rome but you don’t really take advantage of it. Its a story that could fit in almost any era and thats a bummer.

    What ended up carrying this game for me personally was its combat. Its not a combat that you want to engage in for a long time but for the games 7-8 hours, its the perfect amount of time to have enjoy the combat but not get sick of it. The combat really kind of reminded me of Shadow of Mordor, its very mashy and beat em’ up where you attack, counter and then go back to attacking. Eventually you wear down the enemies to the point where you can finish them off with a special kill move. The animations took a little longer than you would want but atleast there were quite of few different killing animations so atleast they felt somewhat fresh.

    I did enjoy my time with the game, this is one of those games where I bought this game for cheap and enjoyed it. If I spent $60 on the game, I would probably have a different outlook on this game. It definitely wasn’t worth the $60 but if you can get it under $20, its not a bad game to sit down and play through some weekend.    … Expand

    Crytek сами это поняли и добирали уже через систему свитков, которые можно было собирать и в меню читать, таким образом давая объяснения происходящему. Почему так нужно вопрос сценаристам.
    По техническому исполнению можно сказать, что картинка довольно крутая, если по пейзажам оценивать, если по моделям и анимации лиц все уже меньше смахивает на некст-ген, оптимизировано годно без проседании и лютого перегрева.    … Expand

    A fun action game that is very visually impressive. Campaign is short but fun with focus being on the hack and slash combat. I don't think it should be bought at full price, but worth it in a sale.

    arkadaşlar grafikler gerçekten şahane. bazen kendimi romada sanıyorum ışıklar,efektler, ortam gerçekten çok iyi tabi bazen gereğinden bazla kalabalık oluyor ama oyunu oynayan herkes gladyatör sahnelerinin oynandığı arena kısmını beğenmiştir. her yerde en ince detayına kadar uğraşmışlar keşke gta gibi kamera açıcı ayarlanabilseydi ve biz karakterimiz ile beraber çevreyi daha geniş açı ile oynayabilseydik görebilseydik daha güzel olurdu.

    *karakter tasarımı olmamış,aynı karakterler devamlı karşımıza çıkıyor diyorlardı da bu kadar belirgin olduğunu düşünmemiştim, bir kaç modelden ve önemli karakterlerden başka herkes aynıydı, witcher 2 oyununda yüzlerce karakter gördüm tek bir kişi bile biraz olsun birbirine benzemiyordu, lan cüceler bile benzemiyordu burda ise ctrl-v'nin dibine vurmuşlar.oyun nasıl başladıysa öyle bitti.
    *oynanış da olmamış arkadaş. karakterimizi geliştirmemin sonuna ulaşıyoruz yine d bir kaç farklı kesip biçmenin önüne geçmiyor, hani zaten kan gövdeyi daha ilkbaşlarda götürüyor adam yüzbaşı iken de aynı kesiyor general iken de, bir yerden sonra alışıyorsunuz. mesela gears of war oynarken testereli silah ile de aynı burdaki gibi canavarları kesiyorduk ama insanın içinde daha çok kasap gibi kesme isteği uyandırıyordu bu ryse ise bir yerden sonra alışıyorsun ve hiç tat vermiyor. özellikle tam olarak kılıcı sapladığımız an yavaş çekim olup sonrasında hızlı çekime geçiyor ya aklımızı bulandırıyor güzel bir efekt değil.

    Fantastic game. Story is extremely compelling and graphics are amazing. Combat can become a little stale but overall does not diminish from the games integrity.

    Ryse: Son of Rome is a third person medieval combat game that exposes its execution moves, animation job and graphics in quite an impressive fashion. But to be honest, that's probably all I can praise about it. The game is poorly optimized and written in a shallow disappointing storyline.

    The game is actually good. It does nothing remarkably well, except the graphics, but it did deliver a good few hours of entertainment. A game a little above average i would say.

    I was trying a bunch of games tonight on my new gtx 1080 and this is the one I enjoyed the most. I think it would be great to have an option so it's a bit less violent (blood, sound) but otherwise the graphics are nice and the combats are fun, so far. At full price, I can understand the bad reviews for 6 hours of campaign but for 10-20$, I think the game deserves at least a 7.

The reason for my low score however, is that this game gets very repetitive, very quick. You kill the same 4 enemies, using the same 4 buttons over and over again.     Difficulty: Centurion When I first started this game, I was already amazed by the power of CRYENGINE, I've always known the engine's capabilities and it's reputation, but Ryse: Son of Rome looked visually absolutely stunning!     When I first started this game, I was already amazed by the power of CRYENGINE, I've always known the engine's capabilities and it's reputation, but Ryse: Son of Rome looked visually absolutely stunning! The animations, camera movements, lighting..everything felt lifelike, which gave me an immersed feeling while playing. The combat however was a little repetitive, though the executions looked awesome and had a 300-like style, it felt very repetitive because of the same way you have to deal with enemies and the same way you kill them over and over again, this game is very focused on it's combat but I think that could've been done better. The story however is a big plus for me, I always get attracted to games with a good story and this is certainly one of them, I agree however that some characters could've been better developed as in that we know very little of them while we'd like to know more. Aside from that the overall storyline was really great and felt like I was truly a Roman. The only thing I do not like is the fact that everything is linear and scripted, no dynamic changes into the story or environment. Would've loved to explore more of Rome in this game, especially with those stunning visuals.

    Beautiful environments powered by the stunning visuals and audio of CRYENGINE
    Amazing storyline
    Lifelike and immersive cinematics and cutscenes
    Time setting and location

    Cons:

    Repetitive combat

    Ryse: Son of Rome is certainly a game worth playing with stunning looking visuals and lifelike cutscenes & cinematics. The story is very good with the feel of being an actual Roman, though the campaign is very short and linear, it is very enjoyable as well. The combat feels a bit repetitive and not much variety in both enemies and kill actions.     Lo único bueno que tengo que decir es que es espectacular, escenas de película, con flechas silbando a tu alrededor, edificios en destrucción, catapultas destrozando barcos, ejecuciones espectaculares, etc. Es decir, como una buena película de acción. Añadir, también que aunque la historia no es una obra maestra, ofrece lo que el juego necesita, lo suficiente para entretener.

    Ahora empiezan las cosas malas.
    No busquéis realismo, ni histórico y de ningún tipo, no lo hay (vaya, como en las películas de acción).
    Las ejecuciones están chulas... pero después de una hora, ya te sabes de memoria las 10 pu**s ejecuciones que tiene el juego.
    Hay, literalmente, 3 tipos de enemigos, que cambian de armas y armaduras para aparentar ser otros... no sabia que los bárbaros fueran todos gemelos.
    Los distintos modos de dificultad solo aumentan el daño que te hacen los enemigos.
    Los enfrentamientos contra jefes son de los mas sosos, aburridos y absurdos que he visto en juegos de este estilo.

    Empece este juego pensando que no podría ser tan malo como había escuchado... y en cierto modo es así, aunque me ha decepcionado en varios aspectos, no es injugable, y llega a ser divertido en ciertas ocasiones.

    Por cierto, no menciono el multijugador por que no me interesa lo mas mínimo.

    Y, ¿por que he recomendado este juego si he dicho tanto negativo sobre él?, por varios motivos, para que un juego sea recomendado no solo tendríamos que ver que sea una obra maestra, si no que sea entretenido, y este lo es, si lo pillas en unas rebajas por 5 euros o menos, te va a dar al menos una tarde entretenida (siempre y cuando no seas muy tiquismiquis).    … Expand

    Injugable, tuve que devolverlo porque bajaba a 18 FPS constantemente aunque mi equipo supera los requisitos recomendados para jugar a 1080 y 60 FPS. Realmente, un port nefasto.

    If you are in the mood to spend a weekend enjoying some graphic ultra-violence with your brain turned off, then Ryse: Son of Rome should make a nice addition to your library, especially if you can find it on a Steam sale.

    Ryse is very simplistic, but at least it’s beautiful to look at. No wonder Microsoft made it a launch title for Xbox One – it is an ideal introduction to slashers. Unfortunately, if you have played other, better-designed games, Ryse will quickly disappoint you.
