Roller Champions is a competitive video game with a solid foundation. Its rules and game mechanics are easy to understand and enjoyable. Playing with strangers will be difficult, but in a team with friends with a lot of communication the game turns into something exciting. Its progression system is fair. It will need a community to stay alive and well.

Roller Champions delivers a high dynamic gameplay, that's easy to learn and hard to master. A great fun-sport game that's simple on the one hand and motivating skill-based on the other. It is sad Ubisoft uses a F2P system trying to fleece the gamers prone for that kind of business model. Because as a low-budget or mid-price title widely without that, it could have been close to a new Rocket League.

Roller Champions is a small candy that is savored with pleasure. Engaging game sensations and refreshing mechanics make this new free-to-play game a pleasure to relaunch… But for how long? Without varied content and a few important features, the little candy can quickly lose its flavor. It remains to be seen what Ubisoft has in store for us next, but the studio has a free-to-play program full of potential that we hope will grow over the course of updates to become as attractive as Rocket League and others...

Roller Champions is a fun and engaging team-based multiplayer game that might become your new casual multiplayer addiction. However, a lack of progression and limited customisation options without paying money holds it back from being great at launch.

Roller Champions is a good experience, but Ubisoft decided to publish it without many of the core features of this kind of games. It's fun, but for how long?

Often mocked for its games with recycled gameplay, Ubisoft offers us something original with Roller Champions. The rules of this fictional sport hold up perfectly, and so do the execution, gameplay, and accessibility. So we're having a really good time online. On the other hand, the content is weak for the moment, it is its main fault.

Roller Champions provides a solid gameplay base, but only time will tell to see how dev support will keep players coming back.

Unfortunately, it's tough to center a game's progression around cosmetics when the skater that's being customized looks so bland. Add to that a limited availability of game modes at launch and Roller Champions gets off to a rough start at the track. Fortunately, the core experience is enjoyable enough that it could feasibly pick up some momentum and score some goals down the road.

Roller Champions has got great potential, but it lacks of precise route to realize that potential. The core of the game is good and if played with a team of friends delivers ton of fun, while playing with random teams can be a chaotic and frustrating experience. The matchmaking at the moment is awkward and slow and there's no much content apart 3vs3 matches. Roller Champions is a long shot by Ubisoft, and only support and community will tell us if it will be a Rainbow Six Siege kind of story, or a sad Hyper Scape reprise.

If you had to pay for Roller Champions, I wouldn’t say “grab two friends and start a match” but it is free and man that makes the difference. While this one is going to rely on patches to fix stability post-launch, there is something there to love.

Roller Champions has potential, but it actually looks like a very Early Access than a finished game. It almost has no content and its economic system is far from the healthiest on the market. Those who don’t want to pay, will have to grind for long hours just top hope to get hair or a less generic character.

Having spent a couple hours with the final release of Roller Champions, it’s definitely a future sports game that’s got some juice to it. It’s reductive to say it’s just Roller Derby Rocket League, but that’s also how it’s going to get people’s attention so it can showcase the kinds of skilful play and team-based gaming that could make it a success. Will it stick around for the long-run? Well, for that we’ll just have to wait and see.

The game is solid and feels good to play. The plans for the game's first year sound interesting, with each Season introducing new content revolving around a theme and new quality of life features. Hence, the ball is literally on Ubisoft Montreal's court now. Will they be able to complete their three laps of the arena and score five points? We will just have to wait and see. It's a Ubisoft game. don't play it. It's offensive to even call this a Rocket League successor, or the "next," Rocket League.

    Terrible
It's a Ubisoft game. don't play it. It's offensive to even call this a Rocket League successor, or the "next," Rocket League.

Terrible frame drops, terrible character design and you have people already whaling the disgusting lackluster cosmetic items.

And as typical Ubisoft , they don't know how to properly make any games, they are outdated. They can't make games other than copy-pasting their successful games and making it a sequel.

When you want to play casuals game is ok (besides bugs, server errors, leaving/afk-ing teammates) but when you want to play ranked thisgame isWhen you want to play casuals game is ok (besides bugs, server errors, leaving/afk-ing teammates) but when you want to play ranked thisgame is unplayable. First the waiting time like you would wait in a dead game. Then we had afk in our team. THEN after somehow winning game with score 3-2 game counted it not only as a LOSS, it counted as two ranked game, so i wont be playing 10 games to get my rank i'll get only 9. In the end i will say only one thing. 3 YEARS OF DEVELOPMENT BTW!!! Full Review »

I literally created an account to review this, that's how frustrated I am.
In the year 2022 the phrase "undercooked game" is used way too much and this is no exception.
Honestly good luck trying to find a game if you're playing in the OCE regions, matchmaking can take up to 8+ mins to find games, no matter what your party size is.
How has this game been launched with blaring issues and bugs that are pretty much impossible not to notice..
I beg anyone who has the time to read this - DO NOT SPEND ANY MONEY ON THIS. This is just another Ubisoft launch debacle. Yes it's free, yes it was fun playing the bots, but literally after that games were beyond laggy and felt like I was placed in games that are on the other side of the world. I was that clown that thought "oh yeah, new rocket league" let me tell you, I was very very wrong.. Boring gameplay with little to no skill needed, button spamming literally wins games.. Whoever play tested this in house must have been playing with the Monitor / TV off.

Please for the love of god, don't waste your time with this.
