Rocket Arena

Rocket Arena is a nice snack, but not much more. The maps are too little, the gunplay doesn’t quite feel right and there is too much a focus on microtransactions. The graphics are nice, however and the ten characters all feel very different.

Rocket Arena is a competent game with a clear sense of what a 3v3 rocket match should be from a technical perspective, but it furtively struggles to find an entertaining hook to keep players coming back. In today’s world of countless shooters, it’s destined to be forgotten.

Ultimately, while it is fun in small doses, Rocket Arena feels itself like an alternate mode in a larger game. It's bright and colourful but as a standalone experience it feels a little too limited and imbalanced to lead the pack

Rocket Arena is a worthy hero shooter with an all rocket approach that's pretty fun, but it still lacks a campaign, the PvE mode is dull and it feels like you're playing in a funpark. Worst of all is the feel that you pay for what feels like a free-to-play.

Rocket Arena is an energetic new take on the arena shooter that revels in and rewards skillful play with its projectile weaponry. There's breadth to the cartoony character line up, and while their varied weapons and abilities muddy the purity of the classic rocket arena concept, you'll quickly find a favourite and get to enjoy the frantic scrapping of the game's various modes.

An accessible, lightweight competitive shooter. Though it's a little thin in its current state, this is a solid start for what will hopefully become a lively and dynamic game as its season pass gets underway.

Rocket Arena is a fun and easy to learn shooting game. The fast pace of the game won't suit everyone but strengthens its identity. Despite lacking a depth of lore and strategy, the crossplay option can convince players to pay the price.

Rocket Arena checks all the boxes regarding what games as a service need in order to succeed. It boasts frenetic gameplay, polished mechanics and a wide range of characters; this game will bring you amazing moments, even if it lacks innovative elements.

It's not all doom and gloom as the actual gameplay is fun and the characters at least have their own unique weapons and play styles. This could be one of those games that ends up being a breakout hit and, years down the line, is filled with tons of content and has a big player base. Unfortunately I can only review what I have now. While the game is fun, I felt like I did and saw everything the game had to offer in about an hour.

By stuffing the title with content to justify its unattractive business model, Final Strike Games loses sight of what makes its game salt. It’s nice to chain clashes in Deathmatch, but the rest of the content goes astray and transforms the experience in chaos that is often unreadable and sometimes frustrating. Too bad, because its concept and its mixture of influences hit the target when the stars align.

Rocket Arena's approach to being a more approachable shooter, from its colorful, whimsical characters to its forgiving rocket launcher mechanics, makes it easy to appreciate at first glance. Its frenetic mix of explosive-based shooting and easy-to-understand character abilities let you start having fun fast, but its lack of depth and uninteresting modes don't maintain the momentum. Rocket Arena undermines its main rocket-jumping hook by making the strategy meaningless amongst its other mechanics, and its shooting grows stale in the process. There's limited fun to be had with its frenetic and fast shooting action, but it's lacking strong lasting appeal.

Rocket Arena is a dull misfire that fails to compare even to EA's own Garden Warfare franchise. A few original ideas are lost behind a forgettable art style, small maps and questionable gameplay mechanics.
